Beautiful antique style done with lots of love and detail. Feeling like a farm holiday surrounded with tranquility.
Stayed in the cottage. Beautiful grounds. Totally relaxing. Perfect host! About 650m walk to The Red Rooster and bakery. Hot water even during power outages. Cottage-style furnishings - overused cliche of "quaint" applies. Carpets and bath mats need a good clean or replacement. Same with the shower curtain. Not for the modernist or minimalist. Good for animal lovers.
We had a great time relaxing, Wendy did everything to ensure we had everything we needed. The house and cottage have a beautiful atmosphere.

We tried Wakkerstroom as a stopover destination on our way to Johannesburg having stayed in Harrismith in the past. The accommodation was what we hoped for - being a very arty and friendly chalet. Wendy was very friendly and helpful phoning us in the morning to assist us in our route selection and when we got there giving us some advice on where to eat. Some comments: It would be great if the chalet could have a small bath where the clothes rail is for those cold winter nights!
Wakkerstroom is a little town with lots of history and Laventaba Guest House reflects exactly that. The owner was friendly and kind. The breakfast was unique and delightful.

Wendy is the perfect hostess. She welcomed us warmly on arrival and up until our departure she made us feel very much at home. The rooms are wonderfully looked after and well furnished. Will definitely recommend it!
