15 guests' feedbackThere was no name on it. There were no lights during loadshedding. There was no water, not even drinking water. The bedding smelled of smoke.
The place was clean, the only thing I noticed was a bad smell from outside as if something is rotten and the hot water only came from a basin when I needed to take a warm bath after a long drive.
Staff very friendly and helpful. accommodation clean and safe. Restaurant very good food and good service.
There were no bowls, plates or pots supplied.
Dinner at the restaurant was superb. Hospitality at the restaurant (where keys are collected) was superb. Loved the Karoo's friendliness. Accommodation was unsatisfactory in the extreme. Hot water - no. Milk for coffee - no. The place didn't smell great. Felt a bit unsafe.
The garden is very untidy and there is wire lying around which can injure any adult or puppy. There was little hot water in the evening and no hot water in the morning. Dinner was nice. The risk of no power and/or water is high in Middelburg. No extra blankets. Did bring heater later.
Besides the fact that the area we stayed in had a terrible smell, the window was broken, all doors were clearly damaged and beyond repair. There was no water pressure and the shower had to be flushed before it was possible for anyone to shower. Our vehicle and trailer were in a push-to-close garage that opened from the street. After we were promised someone would come to lock, the garage was open all night, despite a call to both the agency and the owner. We felt unsafe all evening. Would not recommend spending a night here at all.
We arrived there, and decided that we could not sleep there with two young children. Our vehicle would have been sleeping outside in the street. Garden was dirty and untidy. Dirty mugs stood on the table and dust and leaves littered the entire front door. No one noticed that we didn't sleep there either.
On arrival we were very skeptical because from the outside it doesn't look that good, but the room was neat and the food we ordered was really good! Value for money!
Good rest after long day of traveling.
The residence is not properly marked - no street name, number or name. The host was far too busy with his other guest house and was therefore not particularly available to attend to my requests. On the contrary, left many snotty messages on my phone. Sun geyser whose water is lukewarm and only a small stream runs. TV doesn't work. Good mattress and bedding. If he would have bothered to come and talk to me in person, it would have resolved the situation.
Not a lot of communication.
Although the people were friendly and very helpful, the experience was not the best. Unfortunately, there was no power and therefore no water either. The room is nice inside, but it looks dilapidated from the outside.
The place's bedding was neat, but otherwise it is not tidy at all. Toilet roll falls off the wall. Bathroom door closes with a nail, paint job very poor etc. And then, no hot water! No microwave oven. I was very worried about my car's safety. They have no card facilities and no change. I had to ask for my change the next day.
First off, the pinned location took us to the wrong address. We arrived at some sort of warehouse looking place where the lady who works in the restaurant met us. We were then told that our accommodation was across the street listed under a completely different name than on the website. When we finally went to our unit, it wasn't at all what we booked and paid for. We just received a room and bathroom, instead of the self catering unit with a dining room, TV and kitchen that we paid for. There was multiple issues with the unit, from the toilet that stopped working and not having enough blankets, to not having a TV in the unit. Johann managed to sort all our issues out, but it lead to us having to wait on the staff for several hours which made our stay unenjoyable. The garage provided for our car was also the entrance/ exit to the units. Which means that people kept on opening and closing the garage while our car was in it. We were told that multiple TV's were stolen from the property, so the fact that the garage door couldn't just be locked from the beginning, was a safety issue for us. The staff were not very prepared for our arrival or stay, even though I confirmed the time we would be arriving the day prior to our arrival. The overflow in the bathroom was installed incorrectly which lead to water flooding the bathroom floor when I took a bath. There is actually so many inconvenient things that happened that I can't really mention one good thing about this accommodation. I would not recommend this place to anyone because you will be paying for a unit that you won't get and you will have to run after staff to get what you need and not have any time to rest.
