148 guests' feedbackPeaceful and relaxing stay.
Nice big room, neat and modern.
We had an amazing experience at the lodge. The host is such a lovely and warm person. She was quick to assist with questions and recommendations, as it was our first time in this area. We will definitely be back soon; we wish we could have stayed longer.
From the moment you step in, you are welcomed with the most beautiful smile and hospitality by the host. I was traveling for work and the host went out of her way to make me feel welcome and make everything comfortable for me. I will definitely stop by again on my next visit to Hoespruit! Everything was perfect!
It was a wonderful stay. Had no electricity due to cables being stolen, and our emergency light did not work, but it was clean and very relaxing. The host kept us posted on the electricity.
Our stay was brief but it was perfect for our colleagues to stay for the night. Hosts were most helpful when we needed them to be.
Terribly delicious!
Gave us an awesome lodge to stay in. Appreciate her a lot.
Very nice and peaceful stay.
Neat and clean unit, and a very kind and caring host.
So I wouldn't stay again, but no fault of the owner. The rooms are not designed too well, so if you have noisy neighbours like we did, who left the TV on until 12:30 in the morning and then put it on again at 04:30 in the morning, it is not a restful night's sleep at all. The wall you sleep against has their TV and they are thin, so you hear the TV and their whole conversation. This was in lodge 3, which shared with lodge 2.
Peaceful, river views.
I stayed in unit 3 as a solo traveler, for my purposes, namely an overnight stay it was perfect. Everything was neat and clean and the service was good. Next time I might choose no 4, it's more private with a nice view of the river course.
Always stay delicious here in Hoedspruit.
This is now the third time we have stayed at Leadwood Tree Safari Lodge. The units are well equipped. The highlight for us is the large braai and the swimming pool is the icing on the cake.
Very neat and very good value for money. Nice and quiet in the forest.
Very nice place, will stay there again.
Very nice stay, just enough for a business trip.
Great little spot and perfect for a stopover. The wildlife estate is awesome!
Rest and peace! And cute hostess.
Very nice environment. Friendly owners and hostess.
Had a great stay. Host was very accommodating. Very neat and tidy, all that you need.
Great location, quite nice private environment.
Very peaceful location with a very comfy bed and lovely swimming pool. Small, simple but comfortable spot. The place needs some maintenance. Lots of cracks in the walls, loose fittings in the kitchen, etc. The kitchen is not really great for self-catering (very small) but suitable for light lunches and breakfasts, and there are loads of lovely restaurants close by, so this is great for a base to tour Hoedspruit from. Aircon would be most welcome as the fans struggled to help with the heat and humidity. The host was very friendly and responded quickly to messages. Beautiful views and loads of birds and wildlife in the area. We very much enjoyed the braai area and outdoor seating, looking out at the dry riverbank.
Very nice! Lodge 4 is on the point in front of the river. I would like to visit again when the river is flowing. Beautiful birds visit the trees in the morning and late afternoon and I enjoyed my holes with my binoculars by the pool.
We had a very nice stay. The WiFi was very welcome - I think just a password to make it more secure would be good. The customer service was great and friendly. The restaurant recommendations were much appreciated. Just a few tidiness little things that can be attended to. The towels did not smell fresh. Some of the cushions on the sofas/chairs were dirty. But apart from the little things, we had a very nice stay.
Great stay! Very peaceful and Tammy went out of her way to make our stay pleasant.
We really enjoyed the tranquility of the surroundings. We will definitely do so again.
The pool was refreshing with the hot weather. We really enjoyed our stay.
It's a lovely overnight stay near Hoedspruit. We could have stayed longer.
Tammy provided us with all the detailed information we needed right from our original enquiry. She even allowed my husband to watch rugby in another empty unit as ours was not booked with a TV. The peace and quiet was absolute bliss! Thanks Tammy!
Very pleasant hostess.
Spacious unit with a fully equipped kitchenette. Hot water was difficult to regulate with the gas geyser, but we managed. The estate was safe to walk around, our boys enjoyed identifying tracks and it was very peaceful, no sight of neighbours. Tammy was very helpful.
Plekkie is nice and clean and in a peaceful atmosphere with the little goats that have also come for a spin, very nice.
Leadwood Lodge is the perfect place for a stop-over and for longer stays - it is in a wildlife estate where you can do self-drive game viewing (we saw giraffes, zebra, waterbuck, warthog, impala, squirrels, meerkats and lots of birds). The accommodation is comfortable, clean and private with good self-catering facilities and perfect braai spots. If you're a couple stopping over in Hoedspruit or looking for a quiet bush spot for a few days, this place is perfect.
Had a wonderfull stay.
This place is absolutely beautiful, from the unit itself to the reserve it resides within to the pool area. All are beautiful and I will definitely come back again. The hosts were great and the entire lodge was kept in immaculate condition which was safe and clean. Loved it, thanks very much.

Great stay. The guest house is spacious and well equipped with everything you need. The stoep/patio/braai offers an opportunity to spend time outdoors (securely fenced).
We had a great time, it was nice and quiet.
Very nice and tranquil and very well equipped. I had a great evening there and did not even hear the other guests. Overall, clean. However, the cleaning team can use a little guidance on cleaning under the main bed and between the wall and the bunk beds. It has not been cleaned there for some time, but other than that I could not find any fault. Adding a mosquito net to the main bed is so practical and awesome. Thank you very much. I would love to stay there again.
Very nice house. Everything we needed was available. The owner was very friendly. Really enjoyed our stay.
Tucked away in lovely nature, so close to town.
Leadwood Tree Safari Lodge. What an experience. Coming from working at a 7 star lodge in the Tinbavati area, situated on a dry riverbank, to a 1 star also situated on a dry river bank, may have been a shock to some but we loved it. Simple but clean, neat and tidy. Everything you need for a total realistic, experience of the bush. We heard hyenas and had a few small antelope and birds visiting our chalet early morning. We certainly will go back for a braai at the braai area outside soon.
We had a great stay at Leadwood Lodge for one night. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again!
They're going to upgrade and put in coolers, then I'll be back soon.
Unit 2 at Leadwood Tree Safari Lodge is ideally situated over looking an occasional river in the Hoedspruit Wild Life Estate. It has everything needed for a memorable break in the bush. The only shortcomings in the unit are the lack of airconditioning for the hottest summer days, and the accommodation for a third person is not at all great (a single bed against a windowless wall in the lounge - the third guest must also share the only bathroom which is inadequately separated from the bedroom by a wall that does not reach the ceiling and a concertina door that does not provide enough privacy). The unit is ideal for a couple, I would not use it with a third person again.
Was excellent and very comfortable.
Very welcoming and relaxing.
Tammy is an excellent hostess and went out of her way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The house is beautiful and delightful in the forest. The shade net window in the bathroom was a bit cold in the winter, but for the very hot summers it will be fantastic. The security is very good. The pool wasn't available due to maintenance that needed to be done, but since it's winter it wasn't a problem.
Very calm and quiet. No noise except nature. Have stayed in other lodges in Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate before and you can hear the road and the train all the time. But not at Leadwood. The location was perfect and the lodge clean. And pool area a great experience. Very pretty. Thanks Tammy, will definitely stay at your beautiful place often.
We had a nice stay. Cute place, everything neat and clean.
I had a great stay at Leadwood Tree Safari Lodge. There was no hot water in the outdoor and indoor shower, luckily it was a hot day. Basic information on how to use the microwave would be great for future guests.
Unfortunately there was no hot water!
Kitchen mainly & bathroom need serious clean & renovation. Cockroaches!!!!. Very nice place and friendly service.
The whole weekend was fantastic. Tamboti lodge 4 was amazing. The bed sleeps well, the shower is nice and I love the layout of the whole bathroom. The scenery is very beautiful and then it's nice to drive around in the estate itself, saw many animals. This is definitely my favorite getaway vacation in a very long time. I will definitely come back again.
A relaxing and peaceful one-day stay.
The place is just too beautiful. I enjoyed every moment of my stay.
I would highly recommend Leadwood, it is conveniently located in the wildlife estate and always a pleasure to spend the night there. Facilities are clean and tidy.
Was able to rest well over the weekend. Enjoy the privacy and tranquility that Leadwood offers. Enjoyed peace and quiet in the forest with the beautiful animal sounds in the background.
The lodge is nicely private and well equipped with everything you need. We had a very nice stay and Tammy was an excellent hostess.
My unit was spotless. I loved the tranquil setting and privacy. I will recommend this if you are looking for accommodation in the Hoedspruit area.
Beautiful house surrounded by big trees and animals. The cottage was perfect for our few days in the bush. Everything was just perfect. Tammy is a very good host and looked after us well.
Very nice stay and very peaceful. The communication was also excellent with the management.
Wonderful nature to move around in freely.
Peaceful, quiet surroundings, plenty of hiking trails, fantastic firewood (plenty), soft beds, decent bedding, everything in the kitchen needed, and WiFi was a bonus! Thank you Maggie for your hospitality!
Well located and accessible accommodation on the way in or out of Kruger National Park. Lots of places to eat in Hoedspruit with a wide price range.
We had a fantastic stay and were blessed with a visit by a grey duiker at the front door! Lovely walks and drives in the veld with the convenience of town right outside the gates of the estate. Leadwood Lodge is a must-visit!
Have a great time and relax. Thanks to Tammy for excellent service and hospitality.
Nice property to stay at, has everything you need.
I had a great time staying here while I had work to do in Hoedspruit. It is only 10 minutes from the town but it feels like you are somewhere deep in the Bosveld. I would love to stay here again when I'm in the area, for work or vacation.
We had a great time in Tamboti and the swimming pool was a pleasure. Thanks, Tammy, for all your trouble with directions for the best route back home. We would definitely stay at Leadwood Lodge again.
See stars.
A little bit of all you need for an overnight stay.
Air conditioner would be a big plus, especially in Hoedspruit's heat it is actually indispensable.
I wish the house was equipped with air-conditioning! The fan was not cooling enough.
This was genuinely a great honeymoon spot. We truly enjoyed our stay. Tammy assisted us with everything. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Leadwood Lodge has a great location next to the river and in a quiet part of the Wildlife Estate. We stayed in lodge 4 which as south-facing is cool in summer but rather cold and dark in winter. The other units have much better locations. Would recommend it for future stays.
I requested an extra bed in the lounge area of chalet 2 and when we arrived there it was in the adjacent chalet which my sister had booked. This was a bit unsatisfactory as we had made plans according to original arrangement. The coffee in the glass container was hard and could not be used even though we noticed that there was milk placed in the fridge.
For a 2nd time Leadwood was a quick one night stay for us for work purposes. The accommodation is very clean, comfortable and safe. The hostess very helpful and provides all the information for gate access, etc. We prefer stand alone units and unfortunately we could not book the one we wanted this time. However, the lodges that are adjacent to each other and can be used for a family unit are not so private and you hear your neighbors (they probably hear you too). We will stay there again if the right unit is available.
Very nice but lacks aircon in that heat. Booked lodge 4 but moved me to lodge 5.
No.
See stars.
We will visit again to give them another chance, but in winter, due to no air conditioner in the rooms. I also suggest installing satellite TV.
Been very calm. Perhaps one should have just said that they were busy with renovations.
Contact with owner was easy via email. Unfortunately, wifi was very bad and not working the first days. After the owner made some changes, the wifi was working. Another complaint was fixed by the owner. We hired the apartment for 3 persons which I would not recommend. Because you really have a small space, especially on colder days. For 2 people it is better. But for the price asked I would expect more space and a better view of the surrounding. Now due to the gated garden and the carport for all the properties not a lot of animals will roam around your garden. You have to go into the park to see the animals, which are easy to spot. And keep in mind that the double bed is extremely high. Like 1 meter high, so you need to climb in.
Price-wise, I think rather expensive. My sister and her family stayed at another property for the same price, with airconditioned rooms and full breakfast!
The driver cannot communicate and does not have the ability to communicate if there is load shedding (all technically possible of course). Advertisement did not indicate in advance that the shower only has hot water for 4 min. Manhole that has a water meter cover is broken - safety risk because I almost drove into it.
It's the third time I've booked my company people there. Third time hot water is a problem. The time Priscilla reports that the drain of the toilet is blocked on the day of arrival. Nothing happens, the Tuesday gets bad treatment and they want to unblock her invoice for the drain. Accusing her of sanitary napkins clogging the drain, Priscilla is a new mom so her cycle hasn't started again, can't be her, which she also reported to them. We as a company therefore refuse to pay for the drain unblocker and will never refer people to them.
We always use Lekkeslaap for travel accommodation, specifically the "preferred partner" status. The room was not thoroughly cleaned, it was dusty, almost as if it had not been used in a while and the door had simply been unlocked for use. The cutlery and crockery needed washing again, the counter tops and fridge door/handle needed a proper wipe down/clean and the washup tap is loose. The view out of the bedroom window looked out into a maintenance area and construction equipment. The lounge/TV area layout was diffirent to the photos on the website, and had bunkbeads added that were not shown on the photos. This area specifically looked as though it had not been sufficiently cleaned. The kitchen light did not work. The network signal is poor in the area, so we were grateful for the use of the Wifi, however, this was only available for a while. The bedroom and bathroom however, was clean and neat.
We will definitely visit again. Nicely close to everything, yet a real getaway. Tammy also went the extra mile. We are very happy. Feel free to try!
We had such a great stay and the people where very accommodating with us. The place is perfectly look after and has amazing views. We will see you again for sure.
The unit is excellently equipped and very spacious. Would love to come back in the summer to try the pool.
I recommend the place to anyone young and old. I would definitely go back.
Lovely stay in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate. All the amenities you need and more. Really feel like you are staying in the woods. Tammy's service was excellent.
Good communication with wayfinding and for gate access. Well equipped accommodation. Nice walk and bike ride.
Had a lot of fun with the goats that graze in the river course!
Clean, super comfortable bed and excellent service.
Overall the best accommodation we have experienced!
Thank you.
It was a lovely experience and we would love to stay longer at Leadwood Lodge next time. Good accommodation, friendly reception, quiet and peaceful, beautiful location.
We were on holiday and stayed for 10 nights at Leadwood Lodge. Our lodge was perfect for the 3 of us, and Tammy's hospitality was more than we could have asked for. You are completely surrounded by the bush here with an awesome swimming pool to cool you off. Whether you enjoy a bush sunrise, or sundowner, Leadwood will have you covered. Can't wait to get back there!
We were smart to choose the house with the pool, it was terribly hot. The outdoor shower was lovely. The kitchen is packed with everything your heart could desire. It was a pleasure to make our meals there. We had a nice barbecue and enjoyed all our meals outside, lovely table under the roof. The house feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, beautiful night sounds yet you are only a few kilos away from shopping centers and restaurants.
A large lodge with everything one needs. Lots of untouched nature around you and the silence of the forest for yourself. Very good security with your own key for the gates of the complex. Close to great places to eat and game reserves. Very satisfying.
Chalet is nicely equipped would prefer curtains in the shower. Otherwise no complaints. PS. pensioners discount would be nice.
Neat room and lounge with more than enough cutlery and cookware. Cozy atmosphere with DStv as well as WiFi facilities.
See stars.
Tammy is a great hostess! Very helpful and makes sure her guests are happy! Nice place to stay.
The open air bathroom was a little chilly.
Was very nice, dishes were just not very clean at the bottom of the cupboard.
Friendly hostess who provides excellent accommodation. Excellent value for money.
The lodge is private and peaceful.
Great location, private, plenty to keep kids busy. Good base to explore the area.
A few things could have been added for the price.
The rooms are spacious and located close to the pool.
The lodge is very private and is set in the woods. It really gives the impression that one is staying in the middle of the forest. It is walking distance to one of the ponds in the estate, which we enjoyed for a sundowner.
Great stop over en route to or from the Kruger Park.
Another new place, some small things to fix.
Enjoyed the location. Slept well. Unfortunately, there was no stove to make side dishes. Furthermore, I really enjoyed the place.
Enjoyed the location and atmosphere of the Lodge. Unfortunately, the shower was a challenge in terms of hot water, especially since it is now winter and quite cold at night. The pool was not clean so we could swim throughout the day.
We paid for a specific place and got given a smaller, less luxurious place due to a couple wanting to stay 1 more night.
Glasses are dirty, the trash was not cleaned, there were old mint peels, and the bed - my husband couldn't even sleep on it, too high and impractical, and the morning shower was only hot for one person. The couch felt like bugs were walking on you when you lay on it.
Thank you very much for the lovely overnight stay at Leadwood. Everything was very neat and clean. We really enjoyed the pool, wish we could have stayed longer.
Excellent experience, we were moved at no cost (and without asking) to the larger unit that was available. Stayed there the night before and the night after we went to Kruger Wildlife Park, in the future I would much rather stay at Leadwood for the whole holiday and drive to the wildlife park.
Stayed overnight at Leadwood on the way back from the Kruger National Park. Very pleasant experience. We were moved to a larger unit without asking (or having to pay more at all) just because it was available. In the future, would much rather stay at Leadwood Lodge and drive into the game park every day than stay in the game park. Tammy is extremely helpful and friendly, 10/10!
Thoroughly enjoyed. Clean good stay.
Tammy is an absolute gem. We stayed longer than we planned and she went out of her way to make things easy and convenient for us. Will definitely stay there again.
We are very pleased with the general setup, hospitable reception, definitely a recommendation if you need to recharge your batteries. Will definitely go again.
Puik diens deur Tammy, ons oorweeg om weer te besoek.
Very quiet, safe house in the bush on a wilderness estate. Friendly owner nearby to further accommodate your needs.
Pleasant host, Tammy. Difficult to find the location. Place nice and quiet. Will book again if we are in the area.
At least glamping is much better than camping. Tammy has a nice place for a safe bushveld experience.
It really is very comfortable accommodation with everything needed. The pool was a blessing in the heat and we enjoyed every moment. Thank you Tammy.
It's a very nice, well-equipped unit for a family that wants to spend more than one night. It is a modern home with everything needed for guests' disposal. Silence and rest after a long day on the road. Suitable for guests looking for forest adventure. The directions to the lodge, however, were not very clear, as the lodge is away from other residential units between the trees. There is also no road to the lodge available and we had to carry our luggage across a forest path through the forest to the lodge. For us as seniors it was very uncomfortable.
See stars.
It was nice to find such a quiet and peaceful place close to the village of Hoedspruit. Very neat, clean, and private.
Cute place with potential. We stayed in Lodge 1. Looks like the photos, except the place needs renovation, e.g. broken treads on the path and in the showers. No welcome, so you wonder where to go when you get there. My biggest annoyance is that every closet is either packed full of other people's stuff, or covered with cables. There is nowhere to unpack your clothes. I also think it's inappropriate to find women's products and underwear in the drawers. I didn't pay to stay inside people's house. The kitchen bin cannot be opened or closed. Tammy explained when I complained that I should just jerk him until he opened. The geyser burst and damaged the cabinets and they haven't been able to replace them yet. Daily cleaning services are also advertised. That's not the case. I arranged with Tammy and then we just sit and wait for the girl to come, after being told she would come at a specific time. When she was there, only the bulk was washed. No beds, floors or bathrooms were made on the side. The one sliding door can no longer open. When we contacted Tammy she explained that they had a termite problem and now the door no longer moves. On sight itself not a problem. It's only because there is no air conditioning that you look for the doors open. The place was nicely centrally located and there is a lot of wildlife to be seen right from the porch. If you don't mind staying among other people's stuff or keeping your bags packed you will enjoy it here.
This little place is clean and tidy and has everything you need. It's quiet and alone, nobody bothers you, if you want to rest and clear your head, this is the place for you! Wonderful services and lovely to relax there.
Leedwood Lodge is beautiful! It's a neat, clean and spacious house with everything you need - in the woods. Very safe with very friendly service! We felt very welcome and slept great! We're only sorry we just made a quick detour on our way to the Kruger National Park - next time we'll stay longer for sure!
It is exactly what is shown on the web. Service is the best of the best. Clean, neat, best stay I have had in a long time.
Perfect place if you need to get away from busy city life.
Will definitely visit again.
Great destination as an overnight stop for Wildlife Park. Modern cottage with everything you could possibly need!
Friendly welcome by staff, beautiful setting, comfortable and clean accommodation, close to amenities with a short distance to Orpen Gate at Kruger Park. We can highly recommend Leadwood Lodge.
We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful, spacious unit. It is very nicely and tastefully furnished with everything one could possibly need, at four-star quality. It was clear that Tammy had put effort into making it special. However, one definitely needs air conditioning in the summer heat - unfortunately the fan was not sufficient in December's smoldering temperature. We were unfortunately under the impression when looking at the summary and photos and booking our stay, that the two units are attached / right next to each other and share the pool. So we assumed that the use of the pool was included in our unit. In the tremendous heat, it was a big disappointment for us that this was not the case. Had we realized this in advance, we would have booked the other unit that was still available at the time. It would certainly help if it could be clearly stated that way in the summary. However, Tammy was very friendly and accommodating and allowed us to swim in the pool before and after the other guests left, which we really appreciated. She was a very pleasant hostess and very helpful - she came to meet us just before we left and we had a nice chat which added a positive personal "touch" to the experience at Leadwood Lodge. The unit was lovely, and there were just a few little things that we would suggest that could help make one's stay even better in the future: - We would appreciate a small trash can in the bathroom or room, so that ' one does not only have the kitchen trash to use; - There was some dog hair on our duvet - not bad, but still a little unexpected and slightly disturbing for me who is not a dog lover. When we went to check on the other unit, we saw that the dogs on the premises were walking back and forth in the unit while the woman working there was changing the bedding, which explained this. Really cute dogs, but if they could just be kept outside when cleaning it would help with this. - A topper on the bed would be great as it was a warm duvet so we couldn't sleep with it and took the duvet cover off to use as a topper. It would be another bonus if there is also a cooler duvet in the summer; - A little more storage space for one's clothes would help. The cabinet only had a hanging part with about 4 hangers. There is a chest of drawers, but it is packed with blankets and extra necessities. - It would be great if a mosquito net could be provided for the bed. Mosquito netting at the doors and windows can also help, but air conditioning can eliminate the need for mosquito netting. - I know most places don't provide this anymore these days, but I always appreciate it when a small towel is provided with the big towels for when I wash my hair. Other than these few minor things it was great, and we will definitely stay there again if we come either in the winter, or book the other unit, or both units with family or friends. Thank you so much Tammy!
As noted above, only the delay due to no exit code being provided was a great frustration.
Pleasant unit, good location. We couldn't lock the doors and we have a two year old son who loves openinge doors. A heap of rubble was lying next to the unit which was a bit unsightly but otherwise we had a good night's rest.
Clean, neat and tranquil, very beautiful place! Would love to stay there again!
