These rooms have access to a separate communal kitchen, braai area, dining area, and lounge for those who wish to cook their own meals.

Lots of fun things to do in the area, interesting bird life, a very comfortable house, ultra-quiet. We will definitely come back.
One cannot help but feel at home. The unit (Hillside Cottage) is beautifully furnished and the veranda is ideal for visiting from early morning to late evening. We also really enjoyed the braai area next to the stream.
Well worth the 3 night stay. We will be back.
We had a wonderful rest. Upon our arrival, we were kindly received by Nokwe and she informed us about our place of residence and also about what there is to do in the area. We stayed in the Hillside Cottage for 4 nights. The cottage has a beautiful view of the mountains and is well furnished and tidy. We slept very well, the beds and bedding are of good quality. We had a great time relaxing on the sunny stoep and there is also a nice picnic area set up next to the river. If you want to relax, rest and be quiet, this is the place for it. We will definitely stay there again to recharge. There are also hiking trails in the area and some nice restaurants, all very close to Ledges Retreat.

Very good housing. Peaceful stay. Tidy. Cleaned every day. If only you could also provide coffee mugs for the coffee drinkers who like a mug and not a cup. For guests looking to shop on their way to the resorts and that part of the Drakensberg, stop in Harrismith or in Winterton. No shops in that area.
Loved our stay in Hillside cottage. Clean, serviced daily and very comfortable. Do take all your catering supplies with, as the local shop at the nearby campsite is very basic. The only pity is the braai wall obscures the best views of the berg.

We thought we had booked self-catering, so we cooked in the communal kitchen area. However, we then had a braai down by the river when we discovered a lovely picnic braai area. It was very peaceful. We drove a km up the road where we got a permit to do some beautiful hikes.

Nokwe received us very kindly and immediately made us feel at home. Hillside Cottage as well as Ledges Retreat's double rooms offer everything you need for a wonderfully relaxing break. The house is spacious, clean and nicely decorated, the kitchen well equipped and the rooms beautiful with very comfortable beds. The stoep is nice for visiting, barbecuing and the view of the mountains is breathtaking. We could go for a nice walk and there is a lovely picnic spot under the trees by the river. Thank you very much, Adrian and Jessica, for your hospitality and for sharing your beautiful farm with us, we would love to visit again!
Asked for breakfast and dinner. Both wonderful meals and they went to a lot of trouble to accommodate my specific diet. This is an ideal overnight place!
Ledges Retreat is definitely one of those places that one will visit again and again. The accommodation is very nice and is good value for money. You are received kindly and the service is also very good. You can sit on the porch and listen to the stream that is not far from the houses, or take a walk in the beautiful surroundings. Royal Natal is also nice and close.
The stay and hospitality was very nice.
We would love to go back again for a good rest, beautiful view and silence. The meals were a bonus for us who wanted to rest. Tasty and we actually felt guilty about their special effort for just the 2 of us for dinners as well as the generous portions! It is absolutely remarkable what the new owners (young couple) have built up there in about 4 years and the sacrifices that go with it for them as a young family. Especially considering extremely challenging economic times (many small businesses close in these times and they have, on the contrary, built up something remarkable!) Moreover, also in the midst of the Covid pandemic which has affected the tourism industry so badly! We were amazed and full of praise for what has been achieved so far in light of this undertaking in the midst of challenging contemporary times. We were also grateful for the good quality bed (as well as bedding) and bathroom facilities. We enjoyed the sunnyness of the house, as well as the space and nice, clean atmosphere. Cute kitchen and large dining room table with a lovely view to the mountains.
Ledges is situated in such a fantastic spot in the berg - very close to the national park for a couple of the day hikes. The accommodation is spacious and incredibly well-equipped! The hosts and staff are also lovely and accommodating.

This is amazing value for money, and on an easy route from Jhb / Pretoria via Harrismith past the beautiful Sterkfontein dam. Close to the Royal National Park for wonderful walks, and there are places where you can horse ride and also a nearby spa. Owner Jessica and her staff are friendly and welcoming, and breakfast was most generous in a lovely log cabin with great views. We stayed in the Farmhouse which was spacious and well equipped.
Came to rest and rest well. Place is clean and spacious and even with all the Covid measures we didn't feel confined for a single moment.

The location of Ledges Retreat is also ideal for visits to the nature reserve and hiking trails to Mount Exsource. Location of guest house is good and accessible by any car.
The view is beautiful from the porch. The comfortable sofas in the lounge are great after a long journey. The large bathrooms a bonus.
