14 guests' feedbackIt was a lovely experience and I definitely recommend the countryside. As a farm kid it was heaven on earth for me.
Everything was wonderful! Even had a private tour of their fantastic war museum. A beautiful, charming old farmhouse.
Very nice hostess, safe with security patrols throughout the night. Nice fire place in the farm kitchen.
If you want to sleep well and feel as if you are part of the history of South Africa, then this is the place for you. We were received wholeheartedly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We were even able to make a quick visit to the museum and really enjoyed our stay.
The outside area is really neglected. No rubbish bin. Plugged in bed not plugged in. Couldn't move bed. Toilet seat fell off. Cobwebs in room. Definitely not worth the money. Maybe R250.
Excellent service and hospitality. I chose this guest house because we got married 27 years ago on Onze Rust - hostess Jackie and husband Colin went out of their way to make the event and stay a pleasant and lasting memory. Colin's museum and exhibitions on the farm are an experience and definitely worth a visit, make sure you have enough time to spend here if war history is your passion. Like 27 years back on the day of our wedding, an evening and a morning that both my wife and I will not forget. Thank you Jackie and Colin for your effort and hospitality, we'll see each other again soon!
What an interesting place with the friendliest host and hostess! Colin's war knowledge is outstanding. So glad we chose to sleep over here.
We had to go look for the staff on the farm. The room was very neat and tastefully laid out but it was a double bed after I booked 2 single beds and the room did not have a bathroom, had to use the bathroom outside. Guests should also note that meals are not served and should prepare themselves accordingly.
Jackie and old Anna made us feel so comfortable and at home. The house was spacious and has an incredible amount of history. We enjoyed every moment and didn't even miss TV or radio at all!
I would just like to point out some points that can only cause confusion on the ad. The rooms are advertised with showers. The farmhouse with the four rooms inside has only one bathroom with a bath (the shower is in the bath). The bathroom with the shower is outside the house. The beautiful swimming pool is on the adjacent farm which is about 4.4 km from the guest house, but the drive there is definitely worth it. It's an experience! Other than that, this stay is really worth it. The owners (Colin and Jackey are incredibly hospitable people and made our stay an unforgettable experience!). The war museum on the farm is a must see and Colin's knowledge that he shared with us was amazing. This was a wonderful visiting experience and my children also enjoyed it.
If you are looking for an interesting place to sleep, this is the one! Clean and tidy. Children really enjoyed walking around the war museum. Jackie is very hospitable, will definitely stay there again on the way back to Pretoria.
We booked there to see the museum and were told to return the next day, no fire wood. Yard unkept. House was super though.
The power went out during our stay and we could not get hold of the hostess. We had to solve the problem ourselves.
