230 guests' feedbackThe good customer service and willingness to make our experience as pleasant as possible will count for us to go back again. Beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere.
Wonderful getaway.
I really appreciate the good services and nice hospitality. What I like about the staff of Letsatsi Game Lodge is that they check every now and then if we are okay or not; they are friendly. The atmosphere is amazing. I really recommend Letsatsi Game Lodge for an outing and I will come again.
This is a great place. Professional, friendly and excellent service. Beautiful place and lovely scenery. Will definitely visit again.
Everything about Letsatsi Lodge was good. Everyone went out of their way to make it a wonderful visit there. The accommodation was well located, clean, tastefully furnished and well maintained. The food was good and the lamb neck was in a class of its own. The silence, stars and surroundings just rounded off a very special visit.
From the kick-in everything was perfect. The staff were nimble, quick and very helpful. We had a really nice stay, and are planning another trip to Letsatsi Lodge soon. Dinner was a big treat and to kick our feet further out from under us their breakfast surprised us beyond expectation. It was wonderfully quiet and the wildlife is a huge bonus. You can simply sit on your porch early in the morning with a delicious cup of coffee while looking out over the field.
It was breathtaking and very refreshing, with the most beautiful mountain views and sunsets. It was indeed incredible.
Beautiful area. We enjoyed the road to the lodge, felt very welcome, received excellent service, ate the most delicious game pie and slept wonderfully on a particularly comfortable bed. Good choice!
See stars.
Very nice stay, will stay there again.
It is a breathtakingly beautiful farm with many animals. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We initially stayed in the tented camp, but one of my people is visually impaired and we were upgraded for free to a 3-bedroom chalet. Thank you very much. Outstanding.
Was very comfortable. The main lodge is amazing. The tented camp was value for money, especially because I had booked last minute.
The 2-bedroom chalet is large and comfortable with good linen. There is a nice view and it's wonderfully quiet. It would be nice if there were chairs on the porch.
Nice surroundings, nice silence.
My stay was so nice. I enjoyed my weekend.
Disadvantages were the power situation. On arrival it was load shedding which was understandable, but had no power from 12 o'clock in the evening until check out the next day. We were informed that we were alone and no other people were going to check in, late at night there were unexpected guests walking around, breaking bottles and glasses in the footpaths and also sleeping in the cottages. No cell phone signal or WiFi to call reception to report and office is +-2 km walk from where we stayed.
We enjoyed every moment. Very friendly staff.
Had a great stay and really enjoyed it.
Definitely worth it. If you can stay 2 nights - service was great, facilities great, all the staff friendly. The food at the restaurant was great - we were pleasantly surprised and didn't expect the quality we got - well priced too. WiFi a little slow and only in the lodge - perfect to get people talking again.
We slept great with no noise.
The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. It's so refreshing and very safe. I love it! It's so natural. Definitely coming back!
We were so impressed with Letsatsi, it was an oasis of rest in the desert of travelling down to our destination in the Eastern Cape. We wanted to stay longer, and we are planning to book a conference there for next year. Everything about Letsatsi is excellent! Thank you to the staff who treated us like royalty. We will be back, with many friends.
Everything had been exact.
We are already planning our next visit to Letsatsi! Can not wait. Everything was just great!
The lodge is perfectly located to experience the tranquility of the area and relax.
Tranquil scenery.
Game drive and food were very nice.
Letsatsi's people have put in so much effort. Very friendly and helpful.
Was very nice. Quiet and picturesquely beautiful.
We had a great time at Letsatsi Game Lodge, the staff were wonderful and did everything to accommodate us.
Beautiful place to get away from the noise and enjoy nature.
Was worth it for sure. Will use their rates again. Neat and clean.
Very comfortable and nice restaurant. Comfortable for overnight, great if you just want to rest. There is little to do with children. But can rest well.
We were travelling from EC to GP. Good place to break the travel. The weather was rainy, so this hampered the ability to do a game drive. Looks like a very nice setup when it's clear and sunny.
We spent a lovely late afternoon and evening in Letsatsi. The field is beautiful and many goats, zebra and wildebeest. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Nice and cute place, but lacks maintenance, attention to detail and ownership. Despite this, the staff try their best and go out of their way!
Value for money and the food was delicious.
The tranquility envelops you when you turn in there.
Staff only the best. Meal from the books. Nice stay too.
Excellent views of wildlife and nature, immediately felt at home on our arrival, nice barbecue around the fire and the communal kitchen was of a high standard, friendly people as well as the most delicious breakfast, would have liked to stay longer and soak up the Sunday sun around the pool and the bar tested out. But we will for sure stay again on our next trip for longer. See you again soon.
We spent 2 nights here on our way back to the Cape and what an incredible surprise. Beautiful, clean, very friendly service. Lovely pool and nice cocktails.
One night is simply not enough. It's a place where you can go for a week to relax and rest and enjoy nature. Will definitely stop here again on my way if I can.
Great accommodation, lots for the kids to do and spectacular dinner!
The view from the main lodge is breathtaking and the decor in the fits in well with the bush setting. Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. My only 2 suggestions is regular inspections of the rooms/units to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained and a review of the breakfast menu/setup.
Have a great time and relax. Service was excellent. Might just try to find parking closer to chalets.
Tranquil and nice to see animals and stars.
They were very accommodating and changed our unit to one with a shower for my pregnant wife. This made our stay just that much better to know that they cared for us.
There were bats in our unit. The goal was to rest and sleep. So I will not go again. We traveled from the Cape to Pretoria. However, the game drive was fun with the most beautiful surroundings.
Nice surroundings and friendly welcome.
Very friendly people.
Enjoy the afternoon around the pool and Zebras, Springboks etc. at water hole Would have enjoyed wildlife viewing but time caught up with us.
Letsatsi Game Lodge is a luxurious stop over perfect for a family with young children. They have a swimming pool, petting zoo and jungle gyms.
We had a lovely stay and Letsatsi Game Lodge. It was a stop over between Knysna and Johannesburg. It was lovely to relax around the pool after our drive and to have a delicious meal in the restaurant. All staff were very friendly helpful and our waitress Ghanste was fantastic and looked after us so well. We stayed in the tented camp and were very comfortable.
Chalet could have been cleaner and probably things a bit dated, like the toilets. The game drive was fun. The food was nice. Main reception area and restaurant are very nice. Sunset was breathtaking. Maintenance can be done a bit. My wife stepped through the floorboards and was very hurt. Bar is unmanned and they could do more with waiters around the pool.
The accommodation is deteriorating. The self-catering unit was not completely clean and a bed was broken. The female manager talks inappropriately to the workers in front of the guests, it's embarrassing. The food was nice, but the whole experience was just so-so. The units are not well equipped.
The Bush camp needs maintenance and is overpriced. I will not recommend anyone to stay there.
Public toilets smell bad. Service very slow. Food not great. Steak was totally overcooked, and dressing already crystallized so old. Bed mat in our room is terribly dirty.
Will definitely stay there again.
Although the tented camp is lovely, there are too few ablution facilities and parking. I also think people should just be warned that you have to pack a small bag separately for the evening, because it's a short walk to the tent.
The reception, rooms, service, restaurant, swimming pool and just everything is great, You can see they want and will do anything to satisfy you. Their service and manners are top class. The units are spacious enough. The second room is small, but just right. Nice big corner bath. The area is very beautiful and so is the lodge. The only cons: There is no WiFi in the rooms, only in the main lodge. The dirt road in and out gets very muddy and slippery when it rains, and normal cars will get stuck.
Very helpful staff. Delicious food. Would definitely stay there again.
One problem was the owner's dogs that roamed the dining room and licked my 2 year old's fingers while he was eating. We also did not know about the extra that they offer.
Spent the night in the Forest Camp (tents) and it was nice and quiet. Enjoy a delicious breakfast the next morning and refresh yourself on the last stretch home. Thank you for the hospitality and nice visit.
We were in the Cape with family for 2.5 weeks. We drove all over the place and so needed a break to rest before driving back home. Letsatsi has a peaceful atmosphere, delicious food and the goats came to greet us when we arrived. We had a beautiful view from our chalet and saw one of the most beautiful sunsets.
Would like to see more of the lodge.
Not much to do but rest.
Had a great time. Friendly staff. Letsatsi should consider adding something like a pool table, etc. also available - for when the weather is bad and guests are also looking for something else to do.
Was very surprised by the beautiful place we discovered! Would recommend to any nature lover!
We found a scorpion in our room as well as a bat that flew peacefully above our heads while we slept. So anyone who doesn't love dangerous bugs and flying mice might not sleep so soundly. The food was fantastic! We only stayed one night on the way back from the Cape.
Neat accommodation, good food and beautiful views. The service was good. It's quite a bit off the main road, but definitely worth the extra drive.
Peaceful atmosphere with various game species that can be seen from the accommodation where they graze peacefully in the field.
Just want to bring it to management's attention, don't know how they got in, maybe nest. Maybe through roof or windows that were slightly open when we got there. Probably after the bugs that came in, found lots of moths and bugs in bathroom next morning. We are aware of the good that bats do for the environment but also that they carry rabies and this scared me very much for the grandchildren who slept there with me! Furthermore, management was very helpful, hair dryer and plug for bath provided at my request and I really can't find any fault with the service received! Maybe a bottle of water and milk in the fridge for guests upon arrival would have been a nice finishing touch.
We were promptly and kindly received by Dominque. But had to wait more than 1 hour and 15 minutes for our dinner with no one coming regularly to ask if we wanted anything else to drink. Back at the room, the noise of other guests starts, the music blares loudly and all you hear is the swearing of drunk people. I call reception and am told they are sending someone but that there will be no noise after 10. Well that didn't happen by the next morning the music is still blaring and swearing is just that much worse. We gave up and drove early.
Had a great time and slept well.
The lodge is absolutely one I can recommend. The decor, the meals, the things to do, the staff and the chalets are 10/10. Frikkie and Marietjie are truly the heart and soul of the place and they gave our stay the icing on the cake. It was a wonderful experience and one that I will always remember.
Natural beauty, service and food from the top shelves.
The food was delicious and the service impeccable.
Was our stopover en route to Johannesburg after a lovely holiday. Lovely place, great food. Stayed in the tented camps. Perfect.
The room was beautiful and clean, staff very friendly and food delicious. Lovely views and surroundings. Would love to visit there again for the tranquility and natural beauty.
On arrival at Letsatsi we were welcomed very kindly. They offer barbecue packs and side dishes, even your fire can be lit for you. The accommodation in Chalets was clean and tidy, I would only suggest hanging space for clothes.
Beautiful place. Will go back again. Wow!
What a great experience. At first thought the lodge was a bit out of our way as it is about an hour from the N1. However, you can get back on the N6 from there on your way to Bloemfontein. The road is in excellent condition so it wasn't really a detour. There is no WiFi or TV in our chalet, but that's part of the attraction. You can appreciate the fantastic sunset and the stars more without any distraction. Perfect place to recharge your batteries after the long road. My parents especially enjoyed the longer or normal double bed and although my father's order for dinner was not correct, he still decided to eat the meal after it was set down. The food is so beautiful and delicious you can't turn it away. Will recommend to all my friends and family.
Very friendly staff. Will definitely stay over on this route again.
The kitchen was overwhelmed the night we were there and our food took forever to come. My husband is vegetarian and there was very little for him to eat - not even haloumi cheese. Our first chalet was very small and had no air-conditioning but we were moved to another lovely chalet to stay after we complained. Clean and comfortable and wonderful bird and animal life. The accommodation is comfortable and if you are in a large chalet has good cooking facilities.
A very pleasant lodge with friendly staff, good accommodation and great food. Be aware of that there is a dirt road that is in a good condition to get there. Rooms well appointed and comfortable. Beautiful sunset views across the pool from the restaurant.
Friendly service and hospitable. Beautiful view of water hole. Very nice food.
A very nice stopover on the way to Cape and would really recommend it instead of Colesberg. We were hospitably received. The place is neat and clean and value for money.
Good service, very nice.
In the middle of nowhere, just what the soul needs to relax, unwind and enjoy the breathless beauty. Beautiful star gazing and an abundance of wild life to enjoy.
The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They ensured we had a warm, dry place to sleep (it was raining) and went the extra mile to assist us with whatever was needed.
Good overnight stop, kids had fun swimming, cute restaurant. It was not so easy to arrange a mattress for an extra child.
Reception staff is friendly and welcoming. The lodge needs to put water holes near key areas such as chalets to attract animals. Beds in chalets need chucking out, the tswikitswiki sound is irritating and makes sleeping uncomfortable. The chalets staff needs to improve on refreshing the consumables on time without being asked. Monica needs training for customer relations and etiquette.
Nice location, good food and friendly staff.
Service please the rooms, other resorts do despite covid. Or put detergents in the small bathrooms. The cottages can be thoroughly cleaned before visitors arrive. Communicate with customers about servicing cottages. Consider allowing visitors to self-drive to viewpoints by 4x4.
My husband and mother-in-law and I booked at the luxury tents and were very disappointed. It's a very bad dirt road to get there and we were not told that the toilets are very far from the tents. We went to reception to find out if we couldn't get a chalet instead and it was cheaper than the tents which made no sense at all. The chalet was much better but I would not recommend paying in advance as no rates are refunded if you are not satisfied. The restaurant's standard is good.
Very friendly staff. Good value for money.
Very nice lodge with friendly and almost personal service. The management and people really go out of their way to make the time as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The game drive takes you to the most beautiful viewpoint, where you can enjoy a nice drink. It was a perfect overnight stop for us on the way to the coast.
It was a pleasant resting place between the Cape and Pretoria.
We had international guests, and definitely made the right choice by taking them to Letsatsi - no complaints of any kind - there was no trouble accommodating our large group, they even brought us items from out of town. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent in every way and we will definitely stay there again!
We were warmly welcomed upon arrival. Chalets are well equipped for the weather. Chalets are very neat and clean and are serviced daily. Staaf are very friendly, from the dining hall, reception and cleaning. It really is the ideal area to appreciate nature and tranquillity. We will definitely be back.
Hidden diamond. Very pretty!
The staff was welcoming. The chalets were clean and well laid out.
Exceptional place hidden in the heart of the Free State. Will definitely be going back again in future!
We overnighted here and wish we could have spent a few days. Stunning sunset over a gorgeous natural environment. A very comfortable chalet, very spacious king-sized bed and good quality linen. There wasn't a shower in our chalet but a huge bath with a hand shower. The restaurant has brilliant views and the food was excellent and beautifully presented. The service by our waitresses was very good. Highly recommended.
Baie vriendelike en behulpsame personeel.
Very tidy, extremely helpful staff, very beautiful and peaceful.
It's the perfect overnight stop on a trip to and from Gauteng to the Eastern Cape. Beautiful location and good facilities. One should actually stay longer. I stayed there on the way out and on the way back home. The first time I had a small problem in the room which I mentioned to them. Two weeks later they remembered me and gave specific feedback about the problem and how they addressed it in all the units. It's truly where customer service is put first, and a lot of effort is made for the visitor. Well done!
We were the only people there on a Sunday evening, yet the kitchen and reception were fully available and on duty as if the place were fully booked. They specially prepared a meal for us and waited for us until we went to bed. The chalet was excellently equipped. Would definitely go back.
The Free State at its best, despite the drought. Letsatsi is a real gem for an overnight stay. Actually, one night is too little. Rooms are spacious and the many lounges offer a lovely place to hang out. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious with friendly and courteous staff. It is clear that it is managed with a firm hand.
The lodge is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are close to the main building and the restaurant with its view is worth it.
Warm friendly service, a beautiful setting with grass plains full of game, great star gazing at night. Highly recommended.
Everything very clean, tidy and in working order. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Excellent service with delicious meals.
Letsatsi is situated with lovely views and beautiful sunsets. Friendly staff. The food was delicious.
Everything was awesome. Only 2 complaints, we got 2 half rolls of toilet paper when we got there and no one came to refill and the coffee wasn't refilled either.
Letsatsi is a beautiful lodge, clean, neat, good service, but there is something short of it! Hope to consider supplementing the variety of animals as there are only goats. Feel more like a wedding venue than a nature reserve.
Upon our arrival the reception was excellent. We arrived with a severe hailstorm and the staff made sure we felt at home until the storm subsided and we were taken to our accommodation. We stayed in the forest camp which creates a real camping environment. My only advice to the owners would be to check all the tents' sails and zips because our tent's (no. 11) zips were not working properly. The bathrooms were clean and tidy. Will definitely stay there again.
Was really great to stay there. Food in restaurant was also delicious. Just a pity that I had to pay extra when we checked out.
See stars.
Letsatsi is an ideal getaway location, the prefect place to wind down from hectic city life, far from the beaten track. The chalets are comfortable, neat and clean, but don't expect a TV, there isn't one, and the main building has all the amenities that are required for a semi-luxury bush experience. However, the lodge needs a bit of TLC - the wooden deck and railing outside our chalet was rotten and some of the planks were loose (the reason for a 2 star safety - as opposed to security - rating) and the camping chairs meant for the deck were torn and tatty.
We were so impressed with the generous reception, the swimming pool with a panoramic view, the children who could each help milk a kid, not to mention the food. So in short: we will definitely stay at Letsatsi again.
Customer service is outstanding. Clearly the Lodge is looked after and it is breathtakingly beautiful. Will definitely visit again.
The staff make you feel like you are at home.
What a wonderful place to stay over. We enjoyed it a lot. Friendly staff, clean rooms, wonderful swimming pool and great food. We will definitely stay here again.
Letsatsi Game Lodge is in a very beautiful location. The view is very beautiful. It was nice to run through the goats and zebras like that in the morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit again.
Can recommend. The food and accommodation was superb. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend and go again.
A friend of mine and I were on our way to an Army Reunion in Oudtshoorn. I booked one of the permanent tents for the evening. On our arrival they upgraded us to one of the two room chalets for no extra charge as they didn't have many guests that night. It was unexpected but much appreciated. The prices are very, very reasonable for what you get. The view from the stoep by the bar is stunning! Restaurant serves excellent food and the visit after the time in the klipboma with a nice fire was fantastic. Will definitely stay there again if I go in that direction again and can recommend the place with confidence.
On arrival we were greeted very friendly, after an explained tour of where all the facilities are in the main building, we were explained how to get to our Chalet. Upon arriving at our Chalet for the weekend I noticed that there was only a corner bath available in the unit, after letting reception know that I have medical difficulties using a bath they had one for us within five minutes. given another Chalet with shower facilities in it. Excellent service! We ate at the restaurant two nights and had breakfast two mornings. I have to take my hat off to the chef, I had the best prepared risotto I've ever had on Friday night. I would recommend Letsatsi Game Lodge on the amazing food alone, but all their service is excellent. Will definitely visit them again in the future.
Very nice luxurious stay with friendly staff!
Amazing friendly customer service, with a breathtaking view, fantastic food and rest for the soul. Will visit Letsatsi again for sure.
We booked at Letsatsi by chance on our return trip from Mozambique. Our one night there turned into 2! Nice and friendly staff made us feel at home. The food was delicious (their steak perfectly cooked and beautifully served!) The availability of quad bikes for personal 'wild ride' was special. Wish Letsatsi was not so far from Stellenbosch!
See stars.
Pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Meals were very nice I recommend Letsatsi Game Lodge.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful. We could see a lot of wildlife from our porch the whole time and also while enjoying a delicious meal at the restaurant. We will definitely want to visit Letsatsi again!
The lodge is really very nice and quiet. The view is unbeatable. The service excellent. Would like to stay longer next time.
It was a very pleasant place to sleep at. I would like to stay longer to get to know the area better.
Good value for money. Best sunset from the deck at restaurant or even from chalets. Recommended!
The Lodge offers a different experience. There is plenty of beautiful wildlife to appreciate, the food is excellent, and the staff very friendly.
The time at Letsatsi Game Lodge was peaceful, so nice to be in nature. Would love to go there again. Thank you to the staff. They were so friendly and their service was excellent!
It was peaceful. We were able to relax a lot.
We really enjoyed our stay. The environment is very beautiful. All that bothered me was that our unit did not have a shower. The game drive also did not live up to our expectations. It's a very nice place and I would recommend it any day if you want to get away from the city. It is peaceful and the nature is very beautiful.
See stars.
Lovely place to stop over or spend a night or two. Beautiful view from the main patio with a lovely pool. The food was good.
The chalet was beautiful, everything very nice and tidy, the bath's hand shower was broken and sprayed a bit, but nothing serious. The pool was lovely after the long hot drive and the bar area was awesome. The restaurant needs some help, their service is a bit poor and very slow. With a 2 year old after a long day of driving you want to quickly eat, bathe and get into bed. We ordered at 19:00 and only got our food at 20:15. It was delicious steak with sauce, but the sauce was a bit lacking for such a large steak, but unlike the restaurant, everything was wonderfully peaceful and lovely!
We only stayed overnight but service and accommodation were excellent! Well done.
Great place to break away. I have no complaints, but just want to suggest that the restaurant menu should have a little more options, for example there are no cooked vegetables on the menu.
Good stay, poor restaurant.
We stayed at Letsatsi on the way to Pretoria. The service is good and communication is good. We stayed in the 6-sleeper chalet. The chalet has air conditioning which is great in the hot weather. However, our unit felt old and run down (but very clean). One can also have dinner and breakfast here, which makes it worth it if you're just staying overnight! However, I think on the expensive side for just an overnight stay, but I could see loads of overseas tourists for whom it is ideal. It is located in a beautiful environment and there is plenty of wildlife on the farm.
We feel like millionaires, the staff carry us on their hands, nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant is reasonable and food is 5 star. We had a wonderful rest thanks to the location and the tranquility here at the lodge. Thank you all.
After a very long drive from the Transkei, Letsatsi was the perfect place to rest and take on the rest of the road. The accommodation was very luxurious and the staff very helpful. I failed to pre-arrange for a cot, but it was no problem, within 5 min they found one for me. The boma setup was lovely and it works well. I felt I was missing out staying just 1 night so I will definitely visit again for a long weekend.
Excellent accommodation and location and exceptional service.
Fantastic, awesome lodge with staff who go out of their way to make the stunning, quiet area with beautiful lodge an amazing experience. Extra points for the staff with bomb barbecue in the evening and reception. Highly recommendable.
My better half and I visited this gem of a destination during the December holidays of 2017. Between Smithfield and Buthuli you will find the turn off which is clearly marked with the accommodation's name on it. You drive along a dirt road for about 4 km before you find the gate of Letsatsi, and what a sight this large and professional gate is. Through the gate you drive about another 3 km and at that stage you wonder if you will ever see the place which is so well hidden between the mountains and ravines that you only notice it upon arrival. Letsatsi is definitely one of the most beautiful destinations I've had the privilege of visiting because you see for yourself the building styles and the effort that went into every little detail. The reception, restaurant and pool areas are all breathtakingly beautifully laid out but until you see it for yourself it is difficult to explain. From the huge swimming pool one looks out on one of the waterholes where the animals come to quench their thirst. It's definitely a sight to behold and you really get that real "African feeling" when you look out over the water hole and mountains on the horizon. The chalets that are available looked very neat and luxurious, but we booked accommodation in the forest camp. If you have a bakkie or 4x4 car you can drive the 1 - 2 km to the forest camp yourself, but even if you arrive with your car, Letsatsi's friendly and helpful staff members will be happy to drive you back and forth between stays and restaurant (which I consider very nice and hospitable). The restaurant definitely also carries a 4-star rating because the food was breathtakingly beautiful and delicious. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the luxury restaurant and everything was of top quality. What more could one want than delicious dishes and a picture-perfect view... The forest camp is built in a gorge between the mountains right next to a creek. With the current drought, the creek unfortunately did not have running water, but the many cute wooden bridges were at least still something to behold. Hidden between the woods and mountains, there are 24 two-man forest tents with their own covered porches as well as a lapa shelter on top of the tent to ensure no rain will disturb you. The tents are somewhat handsome with two single beds as well as a larger bedside table on which the lamp stands. If you bring your basic luggage to the tent there is more than enough room. With the tent that has electricity, you can charge all your mobile phones, but unfortunately (or shall I say, fortunately) there is no mobile phone signal at the bush camp. I had room for my fan, so the tent definitely has plenty of room provided you didn't bring your entire trek. The general ablution units were also laid out in the most convenient way possible and even among the mountains no effort was spared to make them appear as luxurious as possible. If you want to get away from the city where even cell phone signal is lost, I would definitely recommend this forest tent. There is a common kitchen area with fridge, kettle, dining tables as well as all your necessary accessories for guests' convenience. There is also a general braai area where the guests can relax and socialize together. If my adventures ever take me in the direction of Smithfield again, I will definitely visit the beautiful Letsatsi Game Lodge again.
We would recommend the place to anyone. Very nice place and excellent service.
Wonderful setting, rooms and main building, just found the menu to be very limited and when I ordered my choice of food, guess what, "out of stock", disappointing.
The service, accommodation and food are of high quality and we would like to use the place again in the future. The only minor annoyance was one of the beds that "squeaked" slightly.
Lovely, peaceful surroundings with all the amenities you need. Beautiful Lodge with large swimming pool. The food was tasty, excellent and beautifully presented. It's lovely to stay in the detached unit. Lots of privacy.
Great service and accommodation. Animals were easily visible.
Ons sal julle weer sien.
Beautiful surroundings, very nice chalets.
We booked a tent for the night, but then they gave us an upgrade at no extra cost!
Staff very helpful. Tip: tell guests that stay in the bush camp that they can hire a braai spot at the restaurant. The bush camp was well equipped, but an ablution facility closer to the kitchen would be welcome, as it's far to walk from tent 1 to the showers.
What a pleasant surprise! Stunning views, beautiful sunsets and exceptional hospitality. Every staff member was friendly and we loved the humor and innocence of the young Sotho girls.
Very pleasant experience. It is just far from the road, 6 km dirt road, but that makes it worth the trouble of staying there. The food in the restaurant was also top notch.
The units are comfortably equipped with everything you need. We enjoyed great meals in the restaurant. Unfortunately it reained and it was too cold to swim - the pool looked great.
Value for money and service. Just sorry about the dust path. Little wildlife seen.
We really enjoyed the bushcamp! If you like camping, I recommend it.
Young couple from Pretoria on their way to the Eastern Cape. The forest camp is quiet and peaceful, exactly the right vibe to have a good barbecue in the forest during a "pit stop".
The lodge is beautiful. Unfortunately we had to wait more than two hours for our food, which is very bad with small children. Apparently the kitchen did not receive any orders. Our chalet was fantastic, lovely mattresses and more than enough space. Staff very friendly.
Everything was great. The gas braai was a bit small. Pretty area.
The tranquility is incredible and the stay was wonderful. Will go again for sure.
It's a nice lodge, but a bit lacking in attention to detail for a 4 star rating. First of all, the views are beautiful and accommodation is comfortable and big enough. If you don't mind a few small issues, it is also good value for money. We liked the separate bedroom for the child with single bed - so many lodges do it other way round, double bed in bedroom and sleeping nook in lounge with single bed/bunk beds sometimes, but I found the arrangement in Letsasi better for families with a young child. Dinner was nice and there is a swimming pool next to the restaurant. Plenty animals walking around as well. What we didn't like: - bathroom was dusty (looks like it had been cleaned after previous guests, but possibly window left open let dust in) - ceiling light removed in the open area, but wires still sticking out (not major issue, but a bit unsightly) - breakfast was pathetic - there was enough to eat, but almost no selection at all. To finalize - I do recommend this lodge as it is really nice. I also suspect that they cater more for groups than for individuals as well, and that with our stay being on New Year, they probably worked with skeleton staff. So overall, a nice place.
I thought it would be a good idea to stay at a 4 star lodge on our way back to Nelspruit, but it was disappointing. The main building is beautiful and impressive, but the rooms do not come close to the main building.
We only spend one night which was too short! Off the beaten track but worth it. Night sky was amazing and waterhole in front of chalet drew many antelope. Food was great.
It was absolutely the right choice to visit Letsatsi instead of stopping over in Colesberg. It was breathtakingly beautiful and the service excellent. I would definitely visit them in the future, it was worth it. Absolute value for money and fantastic location.
Staff were very nice and competent, food was tasty and well prepared. The lodge is one of the most beautiful and tasteful places I have ever seen and the chalet was clean with a beautiful view. The manager (PJ) spared no effort to make it a great experience. We also went to see what the forest camp looks like (where we were originally going to stay) and I will definitely want to stay there next time too. All in all, it was a very nice trip.
Quality from start to finish! Thank you Letsatsi. It was a Valentine's weekend like in the movies!
Will stay there again. Everything was stunning.
Beautiful place, will definitely go again.
The tent rooms are very nice, in a large part of the farm. Staff very good and pleasant. Would stay there again, next time for an extra few days!
The chalets are comfortable. Service is very friendly. The lodge and especially the pool area is truly an oasis in the arid Free State!
Incredibly peaceful and relaxing stay.
We spent the night at the Bush Camp and not at the lodge itself. It was our first time and unfortunately arrived there in the dark without any flashlight. Reception was excellent, but we had to search for our tent in the dark which was quite an episode. I would recommend that they send someone along, especially if it's your first visit. The tent was very comfortable, bathrooms very neat and clean. Did their breakfast the next morning which was good.
The view was lovely, great location, chalet was spacious and clean. Food was nice and reception was good. One thing to improve on though is the playground for kids, please include a trampoline and maybe have a small entertainment room for kids, it helps parents so that they can relax and kids can be occupied in a safe environment because if they go to the swimming pool the parent needs to supervise.
Beautiful place with wonderful views and a wonderful environment. Friendly staff, good food and pleasant owners.
A bit far from N1 but good value for money.
The chalet is clean, large and also ideal for self-catering. very neat kitchen. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was nice to be helped in Afrikaans, not that English was a problem for them. We used the restaurant and the food was delicious. The breakfast offers great value for money, I really recommend it.
Did not expect such high quality service and wonderful place in the Free State.
Nice lodge with exceptional dinner and staff hospitality.
Enjoyed it, will definitely visit again.
Letsatsi is a wonderful place where you can just relax and get some rest for your soul. A bit secluded, but still worth it to rest for a few days. Friendy service and everyone was very helpful. The lodge and the self-catering units are very well maintained.
Good value for money. Would recommend.
We were the only guests in the lodge for our over-night stop and the management and staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. This is a special place.
We reached Letsatsi on a sweltering 41° day and were very disappointed to learn that our chalet, which is also west facing, has no air conditioning. We initially booked for 2 nights but left the next day. We just wanted to sleep in a cooler room.
The dirt road has not been seen for a long time, a lot of corrugated iron. The power went out and we suffocated in the Chalets. They said the generator cost too much to start.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
Looking for accommodation to stay over for 2 nights en route to PE. Unfortunately we were disappointed a few times. For 4-star I expect a better experience. I will not stay here again or recommend it.
Disappointed and no cooling in chalet. Chalet needs exterior work. Pool has black algae. Not 4 star and overpriced. Can get much better at Gariepdam.
It is very very nice to rest there and just cut yourself off from everything. It's peaceful and the nature is awesome.
Service was fantastic from all the staff.
After a long day on the road, Letsatsi was a lovely overnight destination. Delicious food, friendly service and neat clean rooms.
We enjoyed our stay. The staff went the extra mile. We didn't have air-conditioning in our unit so it was very hot, but there were fans. The swimming pool was nice and cold to cool down. It is a bit out of the way, but I am sure I will stay there again, but will ask for a air-conditioned unit. The night drive was stunning, we saw a lot of animals.
We spent the night in the tent camp. It was cozy, but I think it's meant for younger people. The beds were comfortable and the bedding clean and tidy. A private mini fridge would have been nice as it gets hot in the tents. Dinner was top notch. Would have easily spent another day doing the game drive, but time was lacking.
Ons besoek aan Letsatsi was verfrissend! Ons het die gasvryheid baie geniet. Die aktiwiteite was van topgehalte. Die boskamp was awesome. Dis dalk bietjie duur, maar baie lekker.
The room was very hot with only a fan which on low still makes a tremendous noise. Room is advertised with a bath and shower but there is only a hand shower whose supply pipe has seen better days. Service in dining room slow with few staff. There is screaming from the kitchen which creates the impression that the staff do not know what they are doing.
It's a beautiful lodge, I think they were just "understaffed". The restaurant's service was poor and the food was not good. The rooms are beautiful, but bathroom was dirty. This could potentially be very good accommodation in quieter seasons.
A lovely place with the most beautiful scenery, beautiful lodges, the most delicious food and the friendliest staff!
Everything was perfect! Next time we will stay longer and try something new. No complaints!
We really enjoyed the scenery and silence. The staff were also very friendly and competent. We will definitely stop at Letsatsi again. Enjoyed it a lot.
It was truly a wonderful place to stay. The children thoroughly enjoyed the forest experience. The service was excellent and after a nice hearty breakfast we were ready for the Cape.
My wife and I are busy visiting all the private game reserves we know of within a radius of 250 km from Bloemfontein. Letsatsi is one we would definitely recommend to fellow wildlife watchers and nature lovers.
A beautiful environment with neat accommodation and plenty to do.
The staff, management... everyone was friendly and nice Afrikaans. A lovely view from the chalet. It is clean, tidy and dinner at the boma was a feast. They come to pick you up with game vehicles. Thank you for letting us book through LekkeSlaap - your service has always been top notch!
All the staff are so friendly and let you feel at home. It is a relaxed atmosphere set in beautiful surroundings. Meals were lovely. Wonderful views and wildlife.
Food is fantastic! Very nice lodge.
Coming back from vacation is never fun, but when we got here it felt like an extended vacation. The tranquility made one night feel like a week's rest.
A lovely place in Smithfield.
I will definitely recommend the Game Reserve to other people and will use the place again myself. Thank you very much for your effort!
When we took the turn off to Letsatsi I began to think we had made a huge mistake, the place is very far from any big town. Was very pleasantly surprised with how picturesque the place is. The food was excellent. Letsatsi definitely deserves their 4 stars and I would go back again anytime! Perfect place if you want to get out of the city and relax!
Nice food, nice clean place. Kids enjoyed the quad bikes!
A very nice area and good service. The food was damn good. The rooms definitely lack air conditioning. Other than that, everything was very nice.
Our chalet was tastefully furnished and comfortable with a nice bath after a long drive but despite a thorough search we couldn't work out later how to switch on the overhead fan which the woman who checked us in didn't bother to show us. The food, served in a beautiful setting, was adequate but nothing special.
With the fact that the main building and restaurant burned down, there were suddenly no choices for dinner and unnecessary costs. The lodge also cannot handle the amount of people for dinner. Tents are not recommended for December months.
The reception was terrible. We had to get out of the vehicle on arrival and open and close the gate? When we arrived at reception (after I had to knock on the lady's door to get her attention, and mentioned to her that we had to open and close the gate ourselves), she just laughed. Then the lady (who didn't introduce herself or welcome us) couldn't get our reservation? Finally after I had to fill in forms, she got the forms and then mentioned to us that unfortunately we have to pay for our breakfast even though our reservation indicates that it is included. I explained to her that it wasn't what we paid for, but then didn't want to argue any further and left it at that. We just wanted to get to our unit to rest after a 7 hour drive on the road with our two little active boys. When we arrived at the unit at 3pm it was still not ready and not cleaned and to make matters worse there was a dead bird and a bat outside the unit? We were then advised to go back to reception again and wait there while they cleaned and I then mentioned that was unacceptable and I wasn't going to wait because we were really tired and we were then moved to another unit. The unit was very tidy, but the fridge did not work, the braai on the veranda was extremely dirty and the unit had no air conditioning. We called the manager that night at 10pm that night and asked if they had other fans because my kids and I couldn't sleep because of the extreme noise from the fans. We were then told that we could be moved to another unit with air conditioning. I mentioned to him that I was certainly not going to move at 10:00 pm that night. He said he was sorry but then there was nothing else he could do for us. The next morning after breakfast they at least informed us that we didn't have to pay for the breakfast due to the discomfort of the previous night which we really appreciated. But then, unfortunately, we then got a bill because they didn't receive our funds? We were literally in reception for 30 minutes so they could look for our payment (after I also showed our proof of our 50% deposit and the final 50%) if it wasn't for that we would have had to pay the full amount again. We couldn't wait to drive, had to open and close the gate again, but were thankful we could just get away! We had such an amazing holiday and it really ended on a low note! I would not recommend Letsatsi to anyone!
I would recommend Letsatsi Game Lodge to anybody and everybody that needs a break. The staff and management go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The accommodation is first class - neat, clean, and every thing is so professional.
See the stars below.

Just would have liked a fan or air conditioner as it was bloody hot.
The restaurant and reception burned down about 2/3 months ago and this caused certain problems. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate everyone for the meals etc. to accommodate.
