We had such a tranquil experience! Starting with a warm welcome from the owner and a quick run down of the place, the flat itself was clean, spacious and had all the basic necessities one needs. Such a lekker surprise opening the fridge to find a refreshment and a bottle of milk (I think my first word was "!"). The light that travels through the room, including the sea breeze, was much to be desired. As explorers, we enjoyed taking a short walk to the beach and spending lots of time there, to come back and be able to braai peacefully and quite literally, 'Listen to the Waves'. 100% coming back!

Unit was well appointed, neat and very clean. Very friendly welcome and ensured that buckets of water and 5l of drinking water were available when there was a problem (of short duration) with the municipality's supply.

At Listen to the Waves, you can actually hear the waves. Not only hear, but also through the neighbours' palm tree branches you see the pure white dune and waves. Mattress was fantastic! Owners changed towels and bed linen regularly. Very neat and clean.

Sadly not. Should mention that it is more of an overnight stay for a travelling businessman. Arrived at 13:50, they refused to open the door, we left and came back, and once again it was difficult to get the owner. Being Italian, my husband speaks mainly English, the owner refused point blank to speak English, very wrong attitude for a guest house. I will admit though, everything was very clean, nice and updated, just reception was terrible. And the signs in the unit were very, dare I say, childish, stage 4 water restrictions? But the owner seemed to water his garden the entire 2 days we were there. And there was a terrible irritating noise outside both nights, the whole night, maybe from over the road, but so annoying that we never slept, sounds like a toilet running non-stop. This owner clearly only caters for Afrikaans-speaking elderly individuals. We aren't young at 60 but we certainly are not 80+. I didn't appreciate being told no noise between 8am and 10pm. No children and pets I can sort of still understand. And as for beach access at all, this should be mentioned when booking, everything has been built solidly closed from the houses on the beach, not even a simple little access point, not the owner's fault, but at least mention it. I will not be going back there, nor will I recommend it to anyone. Plus, don't put signs all over saying use power sparingly, rather close your doors and save all your power, everyone knows power is a luxury. If this is his miser type attitude, he is clearly in the wrong business.

Listen to the Waves is a very neat and peaceful place. Ideal if you are out all day seeing places and only return in the late afternoon. The ocean view made it easy to determine if it would be a good day for the beach. We had a great stay and the friendly reception and service was also very good. Thanks to the owners.

The place was exactly what my wife and I wanted on our first wedding night. We could come and go as we pleased. We could also walk to the sea, the sea was very close. The uncle who received us was very friendly and made no noise about our late arrival. It was quiet and private for a man and a woman. It was well directed and safe. There was DStv, the full package - sports and ales. There was no WiFi, but that wasn't a problem. But we could relax and listen to the sea. There was coffee and tea, sugar, salt, pepper, breakfast biscuits, soap, shower gel, two sweets and letters. There was a gas stove for Loadshedding and a hot plate for cooking and a kettle. Well, there wasn't an iron rod, but that wasn't a problem, because we were there to relax. There was everything we needed for our honeymoon. There were books to read to relax on the two couches that were there. Thank you, thank you for the hospitality.

Maryke and Sakkie were very helpful and nice. I am not sure if it was the mother who came and, without introducing herself, asked how many people we were. We explained that our kids and grandchildren from Atlantis came to greet us. We did not know at that stage that one of the rules was that no kids are allowed. She could have handled it in a better manner.

The flat is very clean and neat. Owner goes to a lot of trouble to make her guests feel at home and to ensure that everyone is comfortable. Perhaps the description can just make it a bit clearer that it's a bachelors flat and not a house. Otherwise we had a good stay and will recommend it to anyone wanting to go to Melkbos for a little while.
