Apple Cottage is a pleasant stopover. Everything you need for an overnight. Would recommend for that but not for a holiday. Close to town square for coffee and restaurants, further from the vlei. No views from accommodation. Fine otherwise. Bring your own firewood from the nearest bigger town if you arrive after 5. The house was a bit cold in midwinter and the gas-heated water wasn't really hot.
Average stay. No welcoming and battled to get someone to assist with TV. No hot water during our stay. Outside table and chairs filthy dirty.
We enjoyed it very much. So quiet and clean and peaceful. Well appointed and comfortable. My husband would buy the house if he was in the market. We would definitely recommend it.
The cottage has a warm atmosphere and offers incredible privacy. It is within walking distance of all amenities and attractions, very artistically furnished and surrounded by a beautiful garden. Sue caters for load shedding by providing rechargeable lights and there is a gas stove, gas geyser and a fireplace. The unit has everything one needs and more. I can't wait for our next visit!

We enjoyed two nights at the Apple Cottage with our Golden Retriever. He enjoyed the large property and was free to roam around. The cottage was clean and located close to the town center. The kitchen is well equipped. We will definitely return to stay at the cottage. The only drawback was the gas geyser that did not heat the shower water effectively in the cold weather. Showers had to be speedy as the water was lukewarm for a few seconds at best. During the cold winter months, this cottage can do with the addition of an extra blanket. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful stay.

The house is incredibly beautifully decorated and a lot of love has been put into the planning. My 5 year old really enjoyed riding his bike around the world. One really gets the farm atmosphere with cattle coming to graze in front of the cottage. Apple trees on the yard cause a variety of birds to visit the yard. It was our first time in Wakkerstroom for the Meat Festival, but definitely not our last time. Can't wait to visit the special village again. Thank you for all your efforts. We appreciate it.
Beautiful old house with lovely warm fireplace and gas heater.
We love the cottage. Two things - lots of lovely heating devices in the bedrooms, but not enough plugs/extension plugs. And two, the gas heater in the bathroom - probably better to have a quick/easy explanation on how to work it. We never managed it and the bathroom really needs it!
Remember to visit the local bakery run by the cottages owner and don't feel guilty as there are lots of places to walk off the calories. Bring gum boots and a rain jacket. Village shops and restaurants just up the street and the vlei full of birds, frogs and otters is in walking distance. Place to sit and braai under cover would be welcome with Wakkerstroom's unpredictable weather. Few maintenance concerns. Would love to see more done with the outside of building and garden.

The reception was hospitable and the unit very well equipped. The security is very thin and makes one sleep restlessly.
With loadshedding, the unit needs a torch.

Very good place and location! Only two problems - the key was a problem and no milk and coffee. By 3 o'clock when we got there and wanted to buy milk, all the shops were already closed.

Everything was there that we needed.
Quince cottage has every amenity from washing machine and dishwasher to very comfortable beds with lovely individual bedding sets, a large well-fitted bathroom and an anthracite stove. (Really needed in the winter months). Take firelighters if you are not adept at lighting one of these stoves! There is constant hot water (although some might find it not quite hot enough for a really hot shower) and plenty of storage space both in the kitchen and the bedrooms. The cottage has been restored beautifully and has many features of interest, DStv, books, and snuggle-in sofas. Interesting local shops, galleries and eateries are within walking distance and it is not far from the Wakkerstroom Wetland Reserve. The owner is friendly and welcomed us warmly, had left milk in the fridge and tea and coffee sachets in the kitchen and has all sorts of suggestions about what to see and do.

The microwave didn't work. There is a TV, but it's not connected. So no TV. We expect that there will be basic service for the price. Only kitchen and bathroom and fireplace are good enough. Furthermore, it was a nice place to stay.
