Little Swift Self Catering Chalets

Little Swift Chalets are situated on 50-hectares of game and farming land with 2.4 km of Magalies River frontage. The farm is stocked with both wildlife and farming livestock. Wild animals include but are not limited to, zebra, wildebeest, impala, nyala, springbok, the elusive cape otter, vervet monkeys, civets, jackals, reedbuck and leguaans. The bird life is prolific, with an abundance of water birds, bushveld birds, raptors, grassland birds and our very own emus.
The Magalies river winds around the game farm and the 8 chalets are situated on a horse shoe bend of the river. Each chalet is between 30 m to 50 m apart, overlooking the river and offering complete privacy providing an ideal venue for a breakaway weekend.
In the centre of the horseshoe, is a dam, with an island in the middle providing an ideal nesting spot for numerous water birds and then slightly elevated is the communal lapa which has a whirlpool, an infinity swimming pool, a grassy area ideal for a braai and then the inside braai and serving counter, ideal for chilly winters.
Each of the 8 chalets is well-equipped for self-catering. The open-plan design accommodates 2 adults in a queen-size bed, has a corner bath which overlooks the river yet is totally private from any angle, an inside fireplace and kitchenette and an outside private patio braai. The chalets are equipped with a fridge, double hot-plate stove, microwave, linen, cutlery and crockery.
This picturesque setting, which is approximately 15 km from Hartebeespoort Dam, is not meant for the excitement seeker, although there is plenty to see and do in the area.

46 guests' feedbackPeaceful, lovely accommodation. Chalets look over a small river, very quiet and well-equipped. Fireplace inside and electric blankets.
Beautiful little place to stay. Very peaceful and clean. Will definitely go back when I visit the area again.
Everything was 100% no problem.
It was a very nice visit and a very nice, private and clean accommodation. We would recommend Little Swift to anyone who just wants to get away from the city noise.
Many activities in the area. The chalet was clean and tidy. Friendly welcome with farm milk and cookies. View of the river is very beautiful. Will definitely go again.
I had a nice stay indeed.
Wonderful stay, the place is quiet, beautiful view of the Magalies River outside your accommodation. Free roaming zebras and impalas. It's the perfect getaway to disconnect and rest.
Lovely peaceful surroundings. The animals and farm sounds make you extra relaxed. The sheepdog - Klaas - often dropped by and swam together. The residential units have the basic necessities and were clean and tidy.
Very quiet and tidy.
The property is very messy with rubble, etc. The room was old and very dusty. The bed was very uncomfortable and soft. The bathroom was tiny, the shower even smaller, and the shower had a shower curtain on it. Who still has shower curtains? I would not recommend this to anyone.
Fire making in woodland, very small and intimate.
Little Swift Self Catering Chalets are very comfortable and very well furnished. This is our third time visiting Little Swift and has never been disappointed.
Chalet with its uniqueness of river view and tranquility is the ideal place to relax. Beautiful sunrise from the pool with Bill Harops hot air balloons early in the morning, makes it a unique sunrise.
Perfect when you want to rest and forget about city life.
It is very peaceful. Kitchen inadequately equipped.
It is a neat, clean place. The privacy was very nice.
The weekend was definitely too short. We enjoyed it very much. The staff is very friendly and the view from our chalet the most beautiful. We will definitely be visiting them regularly.
We found the location to be excellent, close to Gauteng and definitely an option to consider if you just want to get away for the weekend. Very peaceful, the scenery is beautiful and the animals on the farm were well cared for and an absolute joy to experience. The ladies who cleaned the units were amazing, friendly and discreet. They speak pure English for anyone who would consider that a plus. The units were clean, tidy and well furnished. The only small drawback was that there was no water in the early mornings and we usually had to wait until about 9 o'clock before we could bathe and get ready for the day. Rested wonderfully and enjoyed our time very much.
Although the chalet was very clean and tidy, the grounds definitely need a bit more attention. Future visitors may also need to be informed ahead of time that the roads have many potholes on the way there and that the restaurants nearby are no longer open.
A lovely quiet place perfect for unwinding.
What a lovely weekend! Nice among all the farm animals, long distances to go for a walk, total peace and quiet. The cottage was beautiful, well equipped and the bathtub in the corner window a great treat. Very friendly hostess. I can't wait to go back. Excellent check-in facilities and information, very good Covid protocol. And nice milk and cookies! In addition, one can stay later than 10:00 if it is possible.
Great place! Everything you need and that bath! Can curl up next to the fireplace, go for a walk and just be surrounded by wonderful beauty. Jann also had a nice treat with fresh farm milk and cookies! Amazing service and will definitely go again.
We enjoyed our stay. Although it was very cold we managed to get enough wood to keep us warm for the weekend. The service received was amazing. Jann truly is a remarkable host. We were right next to the Magalies River but it was so worth it for a break from the city. The Dam was about 15-20 mins away.
Quiet getaway for a weekend, very tidy, well furnished.
Fantastic accommodation and very peaceful. All wood was unfortunately wet and geyser packed up on our first night, but was sorted out quickly and dealt with very kindly. Perfect getaway for a couple!
We had such a lovely time, peace and quiet. Checking in and out was a breeze.
Relaxed, quiet environment where you can be at peace.
Neat, good customer service. Thank you very much Jan! The animals and emus that roam between the chalets were wonderful.
Dis die perfekte plek om bietjie uit die stad te kom en net te ontspan.
It's a pleasant getaway with your loved one if the plan is to zip around throughout the day and visit the sights in and around Harties. The communal pool could have been cleaner, there were leaves and bugs in the pool. For the price I expected more, since there is nothing else to do on site.
The unit was relatively clean - except for the dust which looked really vintage. The place also reeked of straw. The living room's circa 70s chairs were outdated and really uncomfortable. I would love to sit comfortably in front of the fireplace. The fireplace's protection panel is broken, and fell off every time I tried to open the door. The design is also such that the whole unit filled up with smoke, and the chimney didn't really suck it up. I now understand the smell I smelled upon my arrival. It would also be nice to have additional fireplace tongs and scrapers. There were guests with dogs that barked, despite the very strict instructions that guests arrive at little swift precisely to relax and that no loud music or sounds will be tolerated. The creaky soft mattress also needs to be replaced if the unit is marketed at this price point. Lastly, the sliding door to the outside was difficult to open and close, and needs a service for sure. The little things that are positive: The unit faces the river, although the porch is not protected from wind and elements. The corner bath is beautiful and very comfortable for an evening in. The lapa area and pool will be fantastic in the summer, especially for groups getting together. There were enough clean utensils, and the hostess welcomed me properly with a bottle of fresh milk and crunchy cookies. Despite this, I had a relatively comfortable visit. At the price I did expect a bit better.
Old and dated. Chalet was not cleaned properly and dead bugs were everywhere. Sliding door gauze slider did not slide properly. No shaded parking for vehicle. Red ants infestation everywhere. You can't walk your dog or even take your stuff from your vehicle without having to fight off these. Was raised with farm manager, but he chose to ignore this. Fridge at pool entertainment area so dirty and has not been cleaned in ages. Fridge in chalet is so small you can't fit much in there, and you are not near a shop so you have to take all that you wish to cook/prepare with. No roof by your braai area, so when it rains you can't braai or sit and get soaked. Toilet does not flush. Have to flush 3 times to get results! We were booked for Friday until Sunday - we left Saturday morning early!
We loved our stay at Little Swift. It was so incredibly peaceful would recommend it to everyone.
When you live in the city, you sometimes just want to get away from all the noise and find peace. This is the perfect place. All facilities neat and clean all the time. The people are so friendly. I will definitely go back.
It was my 6th year anniversary and I honestly couldn't have chosen a better place to stay.
We will definitely go back. The chalet, tranquility and nature are fantastic.
We had an absolutely relaxing time visiting Little Swift. So much bird life! Took many walks and were entertained by the game, cattle and sheep. Our chalet lacked nothing – well equipped, even a sharp break knife. Can’t wait to plan another visit.
Just what the soul needed and perfect getaway destination to take a break and recharge. Cosy, private and tranquil.
Thank you, Chante, for the most amazing weekend. Your units are really so special, we did not want for anything else. The place was clean, comfortable and private. The lapa area is superb, we will definitely be back for another weekend.
A very quiet and quiet place. Absolute privacy in nature. Many extras such as swimming towels are provided. Will definitely go again.
It was a very nice and peaceful weekend. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back again. Many thanks to Little Swift for a nice, peaceful weekend!
The units are secluded and very private.
It is perfect for relaxing and needing time out.
Just an hour from Johannesburg - peaceful, private, everything 2 people need to recharge batteries and rest. It was heavenly!
Very private and well designed. Perfect romantic get away.
A very cozy little chalet, the size of the open window was a bit of a surprise. The chalet was perfect with an excellent view of the stream. Not having no TV and limited signal was welcome to unplug for a couple of days. The best treat of it all is the game roaming around, having the animals around and not being super wild.
