The house has wonderful views of the Sedgefield river. It was great fun to watch the locals out fishing as the mouth was opened during my stay. The bird life around the property was amazing and many larger species in the river can be seen from the veranda. The house is reasonably big and could easily accommodate a family with children. It is well positioned for access to the river and mouth. The house is equipped to handle load shedding with a sizeable gas stove and LED lights. The house is one of the original Sedgefield properties and well maintained. Patrick (the property caretaker) was very helpful in sorting out any small issues and showing me how things worked.

We loved our time here. The location is ideal - beautiful views over the lagoon, and close to the beach. Very relaxing, and no need to leave the house.

Location is excellent. The house has everything one needs. Just not a TV, but we wouldn't have used it anyway. The internet works when the power is off, as it is connected to a UPS.

Loerie Cottage felt like a familiar old family home, and our family was just super comfortable staying there. The view is exactly as pictured and absolutely amazing. The house was clean and neat, with all the basic requirements including WiFi, gas oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, etc. Patio furniture and Weber made for lovely braais and lazing on the porch soaking up the view. Many different birds were spotted on the lagoon and in the garden, including exotic Coucal, and a family of Forktailed Drongos eagerly awaiting their daily cheese snacks by handfeeding! The yard is nice and private. We had no issues during our stay. It was absolutely amazing!

The cottage (3 bed house)needs a lot of TLC. 1. The house is ICE cold (for our stay in August) a gas heater was on hand but did heat up the cottage room. 2. Tape unit for kitchen sinks is broken. 3. Dish cloth with holes. 4. Bathroom tapes need washer replacements and rust in the basin at the plug. 5. Tapes on the bath has rust. 6. Shower in the outside toilet is through the only bathroom and a outside entrance door to the shower is only a security door therefore making this area very cold in the morning. 7. Can't open the windows at night in the summer as there is no burglar proofing on any of the windows. 8. The outside braai is in a shocking state of disrepair. Used the weber but half way through the braai the bottom section fell which left a big hole in the bottom for all the coles to fall on the ground. 9. The light in the dinning room cover to the ceiling needs to be put in place. 10. The one towel in the main bedroom was frayed on the one side. There are outside beams and house alarm system.

Location and views are unparalleled! We have stayed before and we will stay again. A few things could be improved in the cottage which would make it even better: 1) Load shedding at night causes the interior alarm monitor to beep incessantly when the electricity comes back on, waking all 3 of us up every night (you have to enter a code to make it stop). 2) The alarm went off when we were in the house and then came to check (which is good) but gave us a fright as they just appeared at a window rather than the door. We had arrived back to the cottage during load shedding and couldn't unset the alarm, so it then went off when the electricity came on, thankfully during waking hours! 3) Could really do with a sofa in the lounge and also some better garden furniture (only plastic seats available) as you spend most of your time sitting outside with the magnificent view! 4) Bathroom needs renovation to include a better shower as a minimum. Overall, lovely visit to Sedgefield and again, the views are incredible. The host was friendly and helpful on arrival and departure, and we will visit again. Just that the cottage, although well stocked, could do with some updating as above. Thank you.

"Perfect location and comfortable, old-fashioned cottage charm."

Loerie Cottage was a wonderful find and we'll definitely book again. Perfect location with wonderful sunset and lagoon mouth views. An older cottage with the charm of one of the original Sedgefield cottages; we enjoyed our stay and the 'old-fashioned-ness' of the cottage - the kitchen and bathroom could do with updating but were perfectly adequate for our needs for the week. Wifi worked well and we found the rooms, with their high ceilings and space, comfortable. Best place was sitting outside in the evening watching the sun go down! If there was anything I would suggest, it would be a sofa for the lounge, and/or a comfortable bench or lounger for the stoep. That being said, we loved it and will be back!

Amazing view. Great location. Could recommend moving the fireplace to the front or put a mobile weber out front. Will definitely stay there again.

Loerie Cottage has everything needed. Gives the feeling of an old farmhouse, with a nice garden and separated from neighbors. You can sit comfortably on the large veranda, enjoy the singing of lively birds with a beautiful view. Within walking distance of the beach, where you have a choice of swimming in the sea or in the marsh.

"We spent five days at Loerie Cottage over Christmas."

Loerie Cottage is a real gem. It's clearly a much loved and well-used old family cottage, perfect for a family to relax into. It has really fabulous views; including a deep wrap-around stoep on which we spent many a sunset, with a nice strip of lawn and lots of space. Beds are comfy and the kitchen is superbly equipped with everything you could even think of needing. Let's keep it a secret.
