Located next to a petrol station, it is quite loud in the evening. Trucks seem to stop there overnight and park right opposite, so we had to listen to loud conversations at 2 am. The toilet does not flush properly; I see that comment was made by previous guests.

Not at all what they advertised. It was a "back room" with no private braai facilities. There was no hot water, and when we went to find out what was wrong, they said the electrician would come out in the afternoon. We should take a cold shower! Sorry, but the kitchen was not usable either.

Spacious and comfortable units.
However, the place is not child friendly, although I mentioned during booking that my 11 year old son will be accompanying us. The person who received us when we checked in came back after a while, while my little boy was playing with his ball on the grass, without making any noise or being a disturbance to the other guests. She asked that we should tell him to go back into the room, when asked about any other option as to how he could keep him busy, she said, "You have to entertain him in the room". It had my little boy in tears, and we had to keep him in the room for the rest of the evening.
All in one place, cheapest possible. Thin green towels, duvets very thin. There were blankets. Unfortunately, a blanket is not acceptable in a guest house. Otherwise very okay.

A little far from Nieuwoudtville where we wanted to see most of the flowers. The one bedroom and kitchen were a bit small but otherwise everything was fine and clean.
The lady was friendly - I liked that she gave us more information about routes to drive and attractions and which places to eat have good food.
Unit 3. A dark room, with what can't really be called a kitchenette. The kitchen counter was about a maximum of 1.3 meters long. In it was the sink. The two-plate stove was next to it, so there was no place to prepare food. The refrigerator is in the bedroom. We could still make peace with the above, but when we saw how spacious and light units 6 and 7 are, and we had to pay exactly the same for unit 3, we were quite upset. I assume this is why there are no pictures of the kitchenette on the ads.
Very well appointed and met my requirements.
We were received kindly and our room was neat and comfortable. The extra blankets were enough for the cold. The kitchen is neat and sufficiently equipped. A container of biscuits with the coffee/tea as well as a chocolate on everyone's bed was a nice welcome. The shower was nice and hot. Parking is secure within a walled yard. We will stay there again if we are in the area.

Upon arrival we were told that children are not allowed to run around and make a noise and they are very strict regarding children, so then why do they give us the option to book in children and ask for ages when booking on the website. Also no visitors allowed which was fine as we were in Vanrynsdorp to visit people, not to be visited and that is the policy at other venues too. Lombards should then say no children under 10 years, or teenagers only or no children at all. I have a 2 year old and 10 year old son. Try muzzling a 2 year old who is excited about the beautiful garden and structures at Lombard. In the same way people specify no pets allowed, should Lombards Guesthouse specify no children or adults only. My mother wasn't happy with her room because when we booked, it was a double bed, when we arrived they gave her a room with two single beds even though the double bedroom was available, no reason from Lombards for the change in rooms, at least they were willing to refund her upon requesting a cancellation for her room.

We were 7 family members who traveled through parts of the Northern Cape for a week-long road trip. Lombards was our first place to sleep over and what a pleasure! Neat and comfortable and very friendly and helpful owners. We just had to check out a bit early (9h00), which wasn't a problem this time, but maybe they should make it around 10 o'clock so that you can still make bream. Otherwise had a great time and slept!
Friendly reception and despite the fact that there were no credit card facilities, we could use all the other available technology to speed up payment. The yard is very neat and the room spotless. They provide all the basic necessities, it is conveniently equipped and we wanted for nothing. If you like good coffee, take your own with to enjoy together with the delicious rusks. Unfortunately the house is right by the road between Van Rhynsdorp and Upington and the rattling trucks can be bothersome sometimes.

The room smelled heavily of smoke. I had to sleep on a single bed. More of these wooden beds. Bedding and pillows were old and should have been replaced by now. It looked like a worker's room where I had to go home. It was very clean though. But I will definitely not stay there again.
