We had a very nice weekend. Comfortable and clean. Nice grass to camp on. Personal amenities are a big plus. One of our favorite places.

My husband, Furbaby and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the cottage. We will definitely be back. Limited cell coverage which was perfect! Nice walks and 4x4 routes too.

Comfortable accommodation at Lylius Farm Cottage for two nights in the Cederberg with a large surrounding area on the farm to explore on foot, MTB or 4x4. Very interesting to observe the cultivation of tea and fragrant plants.
It was a nice break with the kids and dogs. There are well-marked hiking trails on the farm and beautiful bogeyman drawings. Everything is neat. On our visit, the WiFi didn't start working until the day we checked out, which was actually good for the kids. We would love to visit again.
Everything you need in a beautiful environment! The hot tub is a winner.
It was a lovely relaxing weekend at the cottage. The silence and wildlife is just what we needed to switch off from the busy week! The "hottub" is really nice, had a great barbecue in the firepit while we relaxed in the water. The heating of the water is nice and "user friendly", would definitely recommend for a romantic getaway.
A beautiful comfortable cottage. Extra blankets provided. Perfect indoor fireplace. I would have liked a comfy armchair, but space is limited and doesn't really allow for this. Kept fully updated on road conditions by the owners.

Really awesome location for a getaway. Please note there is no cell service at the campsite, but a short walk to the top of the hill and you'll get about one bar of reception which is enough for a WhatsApp. We'll definitely be back. All the amenities are there: hot shower, clean toilet, firewood, and braai grid. Electricity outlet is available, just bring a cord. Great hosts. What more can you ask for.
We had a really nice stay. The children enjoyed the "hot tub" so much. Walking route was well marked and easy to follow! It was really lovely and the children really enjoyed being able to walk around and be close to the stream. Highly recommended for a peaceful escape!
We really enjoyed the tranquility and the surroundings. The host was very helpful and showed us all the offers. The home was comfortable and spacious enough.
We just loved the ambiance of the place. Things to do eg. walks and drives provide lovely alternative to just sitting and soaking up the sites and sounds of nature.
Cute little house between mountains on the bank of a river. The house is basic and on the small side. We had good weather and were able to hang out outside all the time, barbeque and enjoy the delicious hot KolKol. Should one be forced to stay inside due to again it would be uncomfortable and perhaps cramped. We were 4 adults but it is more suitable for two adults and children. The gas plate was fantastic during power outages. Service was good and you are overloaded with information but no check-in procedure. There is no cell phone reception and we had to drive a few kilometers again to be able to call for the access code. Only two toilet rolls for 4 people for four days was not acceptable. The towels are tiny - better take your own, especially for the outdoor bath. A barbecue dish is not provided which I believe is a basic necessity. The blankets on the bed are thin, so bring warm night clothes. Other than that, everything was fantastic! Lovely short but cute hiking trails, nice working farm environment, and all the other basic amenities that make a break very enjoyable. Very well located for day trips.
The cottage is very private and on its own. It is particularly well equipped, very tidy and everything works. It is also well located if you not only want to explore the Cederberg, but also the Citrusdal and Clanwilliam surroundings. We had a very nice stay. Highly recommended.
Perfect for two adults and two children. You hear the birds and babbling water just below the house. Fireplace indoors is a bonus for cold days/evenings. All that is needed is a braai bowl (casserole) and braai tongs/fork for braai outside on one of the two braais. Our yorkie really enjoyed the large lawn. Will definitely stay there again in the future.
Beautiful accommodation with the most beautiful hiking trails and a nice hot bath. Perfect for children with lovely green lawn to play on. Will definitely visit again.
Forest Camp is a beautiful, private campsite next to a little stream and under trees. Recommended for those who respect nature and the echo of silence. Birders will be entertained by numerous bird calls and sightings. The campsite's layout is different than the other sites - access from kitchen/ablution to camping area and braai-area via wood bridge - this forms part of the 'forest feel'. Wood can be ordered prior to arrival, thus no need to bring your own. Lylius farm is really a hidden gem with rock art, hiking trails and so much more. Corne and Lydia, thank you for sharing your beautiful farm with us.
We had a really lovely time. The accommodation was good and we loved our nighttime stargazing from the hot tub. We enjoyed the well-marked hiking trails and the freedom of having our four legged friend with us.
The cottage has a jacuzzi. The farm supplies a small crate of wood at R60 a crate. On Saturday we went to buy extra wood on Piketberg which had thicker logs in it. We had to spend more than R500 to keep the jacuzzi warm. It's nice to have a jacuzzi, but one has to factor in the cost of wood when one leaves. The bedding is also few and the blankets small. Would recommend that one takes extra bedding. The cutlery, glasses, plates and cups are also very few and not of good quality. One of the glasses just broke when we were sitting next to the fire. The power box lolled and we had to struggle to get the boiler etc going. Can also be due to load shedding, but we struggled and drove to town and had breakfast there. Cute little place, but we expected a little more. Nice setting but won't go back again.
Lylius Cottage is beautifully situated next to a water stream in a beautiful environment. Walking and exploring the surroundings are just two of the many things to do in the exceptional surroundings. The hostess made sure that everything was perfect before our arrival. Very quiet and peaceful. A log fire with snow on the mountains was a bonus.
Hostess was very helpful with directions and additional information. Would definitely want to go again. Ideal place if you want to get away from it all.
We had a wonderful time. The cottage is very small but has everything you need. It's very clean and had all the cutlery and appliances needed. We spent most of the time outside around the fire. We enjoyed the walk to the bushmen paintings.
My two children and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's just a beautiful part of the world, beautiful mountains, early summer flowers in the fields and the Olifants River with its white beaches. And in the middle somewhere a small two-bedroom house, clean and nicely equipped with everything you need, just bring food and such. We barbecued under the stars every night. On the same farm are also very nice camping sites. There are many choices between hiking trails some with petroglyphs, lovely farm roads to drive, farm stands and more. I can recommend Lylius Cottage anytime, it's for a small/young family or just a couple, value for money for sure.
The cottage is situated on the side, so it is very peaceful and quiet. Got a good rest there. It is also close enough to town and the Cedar Mountains for mountain activities. The best thing is that there were no people near us - we could just switch off, grill and rest and the dog could run around freely. Good barbecue facilities and there is wood available to buy from the cottage.
The cottage did not meet our expectations fully. I can make the following recommendations: The toilet needs hooks for clothes and towels. Bedroom needs a shelf or cupboard to put your suitcase and/or clothes. The couch is terrible to sit on. The lounge area really does not accommodate guests comfortably. Luckily we could "live outside" most of the time as the weather was great. The garden irrigation should preferably not switch on while guests are at the cottage. No information about the surrounding attractions, hiking trails, routes, or restaurants etc. was provided. The rooibos farm on which the cottage is located, was not "open" or inviting to guests. Maybe this should be more clear on the website. When wet, the patio tiles are extremely slippery, and should be reconsidered. The braai rooster gave some problems. These are just some recommendation to make your cottage even more special.
While we were there it rained, but the cosy atmosphere around the indoor fire made all the difference. We are looking to go back soon. Peace, magic starlit skies in a beautiful environment. Thanks to Lydia who went out her way to make our stay comfortable.
The facilities are first class and the grounds are very tidy. We will come again for sure.
We really appreciated all the info Lydia sent us on WhatsApp on the hikes around the farm. We did both and thoroughly enjoyed them and of course the flowers were spectacular.
On arrival the owner gave us such a lot of tips and attractions to go and view. As we had never been here before the owner sent us many pics and super directions of how to get to the Cottage. Everything you would need for a stay is in the Cottage. We will certainly visit again. And being spoilt with the Farms own Tea bags, was a bonus.
Very private and tidy with everything you need and more. Thank you for the complimentary rooibos tea from the farm, as well as the fire lighters that always stay at home. Lovely break and will definitely visit again.
If you are looking to leave the city for the country and not see any people for miles around, this is the place. You can see all the stars at night and hear the most amazing bird noises.
