210 guests' feedbackWe really enjoyed the time at Mabalingwe in Elephant Lodge. All information needed was given to us and the place of residence was well looked after. The residence is in a good location and close to everything and in beautiful nature.
Very friendly, peaceful and romantic atmosphere! The goats, warthogs and wheat that come to say tomorrow when you drink coffee are just a bonus. Very well equipped with everything one would need and more. Home away from home. Special braai facilities; we were able to order wood in advance and it was ready when we arrived. The staff are everywhere friendly and facilities are great!
We enjoyed it very much.
Host is very helpful and friendly. Easy check-in and check-out. Room was nice and clean. We will be back.
We had a great time and saw many animals. The warthogs came to visit us at the cottage and we saw three of the Big 5 on our game drive.
Peaceful getaway with nyala, monkeys and warthogs that come to visit your breakfast table. Various activities to keep you busy.
A fabulous stay! Incredibly peaceful and beautiful. The unit was impeccable and had everything we needed for the weekend and more. The WiFi was a great option. The boma is well equipped and great for evening braais and a drink by the fire. The location of the unit is also excellent as it is very close to the shop and entertainment, game drive meetup point, and the reserve reception, bar, and restaurant. Would definitely book again! Yolanda was a fabulous host and always made sure we had all the info we needed!
Spent 5 days in unit 260 B, enjoyed a lot, lots of animals etc. seen Will stay here again, it was our 2nd time, will do it again next year. Found the Leopard's tracks at Phiri and 6 rhinos, and Rugby at Kalahari was something to experience.
We had a very nice stay. Thank you very much.
Was so surprised by the place. Beautiful view, delicious barbecue area (that's important to me), a very nice shower. In the morning the warthogs, nyalas and guinea fowls greet us. It was so nice, comfortable and quiet. A very nice service is that you can order wood and firelighters in advance and they are delivered to your home before you arrive. We also booked the WiFi in advance. Will definitely go again.
It was delicious and the place was very neat and terribly clean. We will definitely go back again.
Very nice stay, thank you very much.
Friendly and helpful service and value for money. Neat little house with animals on your doorstep.
Great chalet in a great location. Chalet very well equipped.
The feedback is based on the Tlou unit 260B and not the accommodation as a whole. Stay was excellent and good interaction with the owner.
Within expectations.
Unit was neat, everything you need. Sit on your porch and wait for all the animals to come visit. Private boma overlooking the bushveld. Very nice stay.
High quality accommodation.
We enjoyed the stay as always!
Amazing and memorable getaway with regular visits from the animals just outside the lodge. Tranquil environment.
We had a very nice weekend. It had just been very hot.
It was extremely comfortable, peaceful, clean and easy to find. Communication regularly and well.
The unit was clean and had everything that you could need. The host was very helpful and able to answer all our questions. Will definitely book there again.
The stay was awesome, clean, proper arrangements in terms of housing, friendly staff, and well maintained camps.
It was an awesome stay.
Very nice stay! Can't wait to visit again!
Very nice stay in Tlou, very neat, clean, nice modern finish, but still bushveld feeling. So beautiful. Would love to be able to go back again. Good communication and service. Thank you.
We really enjoyed it.
We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We had a very nice stay. It's a peaceful and neat place to visit. We were lucky to see the elephants too and all the tame animals that came to say hello in the mornings. Nice meal at the Le Vera restaurant. Very friendly staff.
Thank you very much. It was a peaceful and nice rest, it was only short. The place has everything you need and I will book there again.
Unit was clean and tidy with all the amenities we needed. Cleaning service was quick and the staff were friendly and helpful. Follow-up inquiries/information kept us informed of load shedding as well as whether we experienced any inconvenience or required additional services. Game drive was enjoyable and the guide was well informed and knowledgeable about the wildlife in the area, so the drive was educational and can be recommended. Restaurant offerings were tasty and value for money.
Fantastic stay, the weekend is not long enough though. Will be back.
It's was the most relaxing experience I've had in a while. Absolutely loved it.
Elephant Lodge is sure to be recommended. So close to beautiful nature with everything and more you need to recharge your batteries for body and soul. And of course just over an hour's drive from Pretoria. We will certainly visit there a lot more.
We had a wonderful stay and the goats and warthogs spent most of our time in front of the house, the elephants also came by. Accommodation is clean and tidy. There is indeed loadshedding with no backup power, but our contact let us know what times there is loadshedding, so one could plan. Will definitely stay here again.
It was so fun and all the instructions were simply laid out. Neat, calm, blissful. They also made sure that we were in order and had everything we needed. Definitely worth it.
Very neat Mabalingwe Elephant Lodge. Love that place a lot. Big thanks to Yolanda who checked in with us from time to time and made sure we were still okay. By which it much. Will come back again, definitely everything was value for money.
Will definitely go again. Was an incredible experience.
Enjoyed my stay. It was two of us, friends. Place is adequate for 2 people.
The restaurant's food was excellent.
We really enjoyed it even though the family was sick, would like to visit again.
Well kitted out for self-catering.
Had a wonderful rest. Als was perfect. Thank you very much.
Best time had at the lodge.
Very neat, and clean, a good location, but hot water is an issue.
See stars.
Very pleasant stay. Thanks to the host.
From accommodation to nature, everything is neat and clean and cared for. The field is beautiful, the game is tame, the services are very good. It was a holiday like no other. I will definitely go back again.
The place was so neat, ideal and comfortable! I would recommend it to anyone. Can't wait to go back there!
Everything was clean and there was great communication.
The bush is the best way to completely relax and unwind. The atmosphere was so special. Quiet and very beautiful.
The wildlife is very beautiful and the animals are very tame. There is a lot to do, tennis, cricket, putt-putt, game dirves, day spa, swimming pools and other entertainment. The natural environment just calms you down and lets you sleep well. The customer service is very good and the people are friendly. For me it was worth the money and I would recommend anyone who just wants to relax a bit to go.
One of the most amazing experiences we've ever had! Elephant Lodge is within walking distance of all the entertainment activities and 5 minutes' drive from the restaurant. It's wonderful to sit on your porch and watch the animals walk past your door.
Loved the patio and boma area. Lots of animals walking around which was a pleasure.
Our stay was neat and very nice. Very close to the shop, swimming and restaurant. We will book the accommodation again soon.
Great variety of game.
Lovely weekend breakaway. The property was clean and well-equipped.
I will definitely book again as we loved the game drive and we visited the predators' park. There we learned a lot about rescuing these animals. The park in general is good for the animals.
Everything was great!
The elephants are just not easy to see, but by luck.
We had loadshedding and rain. Maybe suggest that a gas plate be placed in the kitchen please. The accommodation was beautiful and the bedding excellent.
Our stay here was very nice. It is completely fully equipped which makes it very easy for a family with little ones. Neat, clean, centrally located. Geyser is shared with other accommodation, so you will shower cold if you don't get up first.
My partner and I visited over two nights during the week and loved our stay! We spent most of our time out in the game reserve enjoying the giraffes, bucks, hippos and so much more. You're guaranteed a beautiful drive every time you leave the chalet. The chalet itself is clean, comfortable, and very well kitted out, with daily cleaning staff available. Be sure to ask about the Predator Camp costs and times if you want to see them, as they are not loose in the rest of the reserve. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!
Very nice stay. The place is beautiful, clean and everything works perfectly. The rain did greatly hamper phone and TV reception. The view over the lawns with the animal was beautiful. Feeling very close to nature. Calm and quiet. Nice barbecue with the picture-perfect woodland in the background. The camp is very central and within walking distance of shops, swimming pools and playgrounds. The food at the restaurant at the reception was particularly good and the staff are very friendly. Will visit again for sure.
It was a pleasant stay and the facilities exceeded expectations. The warthogs and mouse dogs were our visitors on our porch. I would happily recommend Elephant Lodge.
We really enjoyed Nicole (Ranger) who took us out on the drive, her knowledge and humor were great. Everything was neat and clean. Everyone was friendly from the gate guard to the waiter! See you again soon!
Really enjoyed the boma area, nice and quiet to make a fire in the evening. All the activities were very nice. Delicious food at the restaurant. Will definitely go again for a lovely break.
We were very lucky to see 3 of the Big 5 on our daily "game drives". The routes, "watering holes" and lodges are not all indicated on the map, in our opinion this encouraged us to "explore" more.
We enjoyed animal sightings, even elephants at Elephant Lodge. We will visit again. Hippo and rhino sightings, as well as plain game.
This affected the tranquility if we had been aware of the builders ahead of time we would not have booked here. Sufficient toilet paper for 5 was not provided.
Accommodation was clean, tidy and very well equipped. We saw a great variety of animals and we will definitely go again.
Had a fantastic stay with my family. Will definitely be back.
The TV did not work in the evening because router that seems Vodacom didn't want to pick me up. Still, it was a fantastic experience.
The unit was very well equipped with everything you need. The boma is very comfortable, clean and nice like that in the forest. Enjoyed the domestic animals terribly. Would definitely recommend the unit.

So much to do. Most amazing time. Unbelievable views. Best weekend of my life.
We enjoyed it thoroughly. The unit was clean, services excellent.
Nice and comfortable place to rest in the bush.
The animals that came to visit every morning were very special.
It had been a very nice weekend. Elephants just came to braai with us at the Boma. Neat, clean and the air conditioning is fantastic.
Beautiful place, close to everything.
We really enjoyed the week at Elephant Lodge. It's exactly what one needs for a good break from the city. It's clean and tidy, with regular woodland visitors who come to show their eyes. The place is beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We will see Elephant Lodge and the most beautiful animals and nature again as soon as possible.
Nice, quiet and clean.
Communication was excellent from inquiries to after we 'checked out'. We even received a short video of the unit's kitchen so we could see what was in there. It is perfectly equipped with everything you need for barbecuing and food preparation. Lapa area was swept clean with necessary grills, tongs and chairs. Shower and sink look newly redone. The whole unit is really well looked after and compared to some of the other units I would highly recommend 260. We unexpectedly had to 'check out' later and the owners were extremely friendly and accommodating. Forget about looking around the internet for other units. 260 is perfect! A thousand thanks.
The only thing I think the unit lacked, was bedside tables.
My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with our stay. Our accommodation was clean and spacious, we couldn't have asked for more. Will definitely be back, great value for money.

The unit was well equipped with everything one needs. The braai facilities are very comfortable and nice to be in the forest. Some of the animals are tame, but not troublesome. Would definitely recommend the unit.
The owner went out of her way and arranged something special for me and my husband. The place was very beautiful and service fantastic. Definitely see you again.
We really had a wonderful Easter Weekend, even in the cold and rain we went on the sunset drive on Saturday night and the predators feed on Sunday morning. The accommodation was perfect, neat and clean and a beautiful unit with everything you needed. Boma area was amazing and enjoyed a wonderful braai under the sky on Friday evening. Would really visit Mabalingwe Elephant Lodge again. Thank you!
There was no DStv decoder.
Beautiful Forest with wonderful atmosphere. Many thanks to Morne and Yolanda for great service and helpfulness. It was a privilege to meet you. Everyone up to Dudu the cleaner was so friendly.
Was great visiting Mabalingwe and they went out of their way to accommodate everybody after some of the roads were damaged due to heavy rains.
Would go back anytime for the amazing experience we had with the rhino. And of course the elephants that moved through the camp, what an experience.
We had to ask for toilet paper but other than that was a very pleasant and comfortable stay.
Upon arrival, we had a little trouble finding our cottage, but with friendly help we managed. House is big enough for 2 and our baby. Very clean and tidy. Air conditioning helped for cold nights.
Although the unit was small, it had all the amenities and was serviced daily. We had a very nice stay and had various animals visiting us daily. Elephant Lodge is centrally situated to explore Mabalingwe. Morne was there Thursday and Friday morning and we enjoyed his company, he even left his WiFi router so that we can watch TV at night. We will certainly be back.
Seeing a kid in our place was something very special, he just walked in, looked around and walked out again. It was awesome. We had a barbecue at the lapa/boma, but the lights at the boma didn't work.
We really enjoyed our stay this week, the unit was very well equipped, clean and tidy, there was staff to clean every day and all the staff at Mabalingwe were very nice and helpful, the restaurant and bar were very affordable and the pool area and facilities were always neat and clean, the merchandise shop was just excessively expensive, we will definitely visit again and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery, animals and surroundings.
All that bothers you are the animals that are already completely tame, the warthogs and monkeys come to grab food from your table, so better not to sit outside with snacks that spoil the visit a bit.
Staff at the shops etc. very friendly The unit beautifully clean. We found the map layout of the camp to be rather unclear. Ambiguity about rules e.g. are you allowed to do self drive game drives? Because going to the places to visit is also a wild ride in a certain sense. TV in our unit was a problem. I recommend that guests be informed that there are stairs. Otherwise very beautiful nature and wildlife.
Nice barbecue in the boma and spent hours there!
Unit is clean, comfortable although small and compact with everything you need, extra space to pack away groceries would have been welcome. Own boma a little way away against the forest has a beautiful view. Plan ahead: With a weekend of rain there wasn't much wildlife to see, also no WiFi or TV - the TV app had no reception and no mobile phone reception (MTN). The restaurant was very pleasant where we could get refreshments.
Warthogs daily visit for breakfast, prior guests must have fed them. Food excellent at restaurant and reasonably priced. Brilliant golf course "Elements" half hour scenic drive from unit through reserve, don't go via Bela Bela. R300 with caddy car, could be busy in season.
We recommend that they install bedside tables next to the bed. And pushing the 2 single beds together for 1 bed causes there to be a hard wooden ridge in the middle of the bed which was quite uncomfortable.
Place is clean and well equipped. Would only like WiFi as MTN signal is very weak.
Loved the interaction with the animals from our back porch. We saw so much just sitting on the porch enjoying the view. Elephant Lodge gives you a very intimate experience with nature.
It was beautiful and peaceful.
The predator park must be booked in advance and you must be more than 8 people. The information was not passed on anywhere. Couldn't visit the place which was bad. A leaflet in the unit with the information, a road map and information about the restaurant's times would be very helpful.
See stars.
The wildlife and other activities make it enjoyable. The distance to it is not too far and the road is beautiful.
Will go again and book both Tlou 260 units for friends. Had a lovely weekend, thank you very much!
Quiet time is 10:00, neighbors next door made noise until after midnight.
Key box code received late. Called numbers but got no answer. Then had to work through reception and struggled for a long time. Some of the pans and pots were not washed clean. Too few battery lights etc. for load shedding.
Pleasant stay. Close to all facilities. A lot of rain dampened our spirit a bit as we don't have 4x4.
Everything about the weekend was very enjoyable and I would recommend Mabalingwe anytime and so would the website. The service of the web page was really amazing.
Mabalingwe is great. Really what an incredibly nice place. I will go back again and again and again and again and recommend it to anyone.
Best experience I've ever had. It was our engagement weekend and Yolanda and her team went out of their way to make the weekend special for us with champagne and rose petals on the bed. It was just unforgettable.
The animals were on our doorstep every day, it was fantastic. Would go again anytime.
The animals were on our doorstep every day, it was fantastic. Would go again anytime.
We really enjoyed the weekend, with all the animals, friendly people, food, oh if it was just so nice.
We enjoyed our stay would definitely return in future.
The host was in touch the whole time for any assistance if needed. Very clean, nice units, ideal for 2 couples that want to have a weekend together but still want their privacy.
The unit we stayed in belongs to a private owner who has provided for everything you can think of to make the stay as comfortable as possible. There were animals walking, jumping and flying past the unit every day. Unfortunately, we were in the restaurant one night when the elephants also made a visit, of which the owner later informed us. Extremely helpful and friendly staff! We were just wondering how people in wheelchairs get to the restaurant. The road there is very steep, although it is beautiful. We would have appreciated more road signs in certain areas of the reserve.
It's small, but there is everything you need. We will definitely go again.
The unit was very cozy and had everything we could possibly need. The unit was also very clean and very comfortable.
Place is very nicely done and braai area also newly rebuilt (since I was last there +- year ago ~ 2020). Owners look after the place and it's an absolute joy to go there! The silence and many animals that one sees daily are very good for the soul! Was there with my little girl (7) and the activities available make the days way too short! Excellent place and I will book again soon!
Had a great time and enjoyed every moment. Everything was well organized and we were relaxed and enjoyed the whole reserve. Thank you for your concern for our great asset viz. the environment, animals and people. As I emailed Yolanda, thank you for arranging for elephants and buffalo to visit us, right in front of our unit. Would appreciate it if you could arrange it again when we visit again.
Amazing watching early in the morning all the animals. The best was when the elephants walked pass our unit. What an incredible moment. Never seen anything like that.

My husband and I had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying nature.
It was our 4th visit to Mabalingwe and the 1st time to Tlou A. The unit was neat, clean and comfortable. It was lovely to drink a cup of coffee on the stoep with the wildlife that comes to say hello in the mornings. The private boma that the unit offers was the perfect way to end the days. The unit is also within walking distance of the Farm Shop, Boeretroos coffee shop and one of the many swimming pools that Mabalingwe has to offer. It is also a bonus that the pick-up point for the game drives is also there. The Le Fera Restaurant is not too far at all and is a must, delicious food with the most beautiful view. I recommend Mabalingwe and the unit for sure.
Very clean and tidy, everything you need. Close to the store and pool, exceeded my expectations for sure. Will go back for sure.
We really enjoyed the weekend in Mabalingwe. Lots to do to keep everyone busy, and little enough to do if you just want to rest. Will definitely go back.
Would have been awesome if there was perhaps a pool/hot spring at the lodge itself. The campsite was very busy. But it's really just something small. The place was neat and very comfortable.
Comfortable accommodation that meets all that one needs.
Once again a wonderful stay. Kudos to the owner of Tlou units for the immediate attention to the water pipe that was earlier damaged by elephants. We can definitely recommend the stay!
Had a nice stay with a nice view of the forest. Animals came to visit us and made the stay pleasant. Could drink nice early morning coffee on the stoep and enjoy nature. Safety measures were well implemented and we felt safe with the current conditions. A bonus was the cleaning of the unit every day.
Very well laid out for 2 people. Yolanda was very helpful. Will go again.
You just don't see many animals, especially elephants. But the children's play area is fantastic. Will definitely go again.
The unit we stayed in at Mabalingwe Elephant lodge was very clean and tidy, and the camp itself looks very nice. Everyone working there was very friendly. We were able to drive around and see what the park looks like. One thing that bothered us was the music that was played all over the place in the evenings. When we got there on Friday afternoon, the people next to us were playing loud music, I then called security and they quickly came to silence the people, and assured me they don't tolerate loud music, but on Saturday night there was loud music that came from different places, I couldn't see exactly where it was coming from so couldn't call security to explain who it was, but it somewhat spoiled the weekend for us sitting around a fire in silence the bush wanted to sit. We will go back again, as long as loud music is managed on an active basis and I don't have to call every time someone plays loud music.
Closer to nature certainly not just in a camp. Elephants visit chalets, nyalas and warthogs regularly on grass, as well as the kudu family that also comes round now and then. Definitely an experience. Braaiboma is unique. Yolanda and Morne very friendly and helpful.
The TV channels are not good. DStv with KykNet will suit the place.
This is the third time we have specifically stayed in 260 and we will definitely return as my wife and I enjoy relaxing in Mabalingwe. This time also reserved a place for friends in 261 and they were also pleased with their stay and the set-up. Might just look at 260's fridge (freezer section is effective) which doesn't cool effectively. Fortunately, the 3 days we were there were not above 30 degrees, otherwise it could have been a problem.
With animals coming to your cottage. Neat and clean with everything you need. The workers are very friendly and helpful. It was really delicious.
Had problem with ants and reported (Yolanda), response was apologies. I suspected that we would have to make a plan ourselves. Drove to Bela-Bela, bought 6 anttraps and came up with the idea of sprinkling white pepper - very effective. Yolanda could have organized it. DStv broken, response was: "we're not going to fix it again". One expects some TV in the evening! A very big problem is that the people feed the animals. My neighbors fed the nyalabul at one point. Perhaps you can put even more emphasis on the fact that it is dangerous. The warthogs in particular are so blatant that one should rather go into the house when they come.
Good service. The staff are friendly and helpful.
The fridge in unit A unfortunately did not cool down fully due to a rubber seal problem I suspect. The units were not completely clean of cobwebs on the walls and lights on the walls. Understandable because of the thatched roofs but cleaners must have seen. Otherwise equipped with all the basic needs required. Have a nice time.
Customer service was excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Very clean place and definitely worth it.
Very safe place where children can ride their bikes to the pool and enjoy themselves. Swimming, tennis, cricket, football, basketball and all the equipment is provided, free of charge! Lots of wildlife with warthogs and goats that come to greet you daily at the back of your porch. Big treat when the elephants came to say hello too.
We rested well. Nice to sit and watch the wildlife from the porch.
See stars.
You simply feel part of nature with the animals that come to your doorstep. Really appreciated the additional 2 tin cups - coffee in the bush just tastes better in a tin cup :)
Very beautiful wildlife seen.
It was lovely to sit outside and watch the birds and the other animals going about their daily business.
Will definitely go again. Only the nyala bull that attacked my grandson and poked him with its horn luckily only scratched his neck. I think he is very dangerous.
We booked at Elephant Lodge, Tlou 260 B very well equipped and very tidy. Very peaceful, just what one needs especially if you are just looking for peace and especially if you are coming from the city.
We will be back for sure, well located, clean, tidy. The kitchen that is inside now makes so much more sense and gives extra space in the unit.
A beautiful place to be in if you want to get away from the city noise! Place was very clean with plenty of blankets and chair cushions to get comfortable outside. Air conditioning worked 100% (the heater) and place was wonderfully warm in the very cold evenings. We only booked 1 part with neighbors in the other unit and hardly heard them - it's nice if there are a little more people with the family of 4 wild boars walking around at night - Now that's a different experience but once again beautiful animals ! Take a flash! Nyala bulls regularly do their dance in front of your porch, small family of 5 monkeys say hello every day (they can be naughty, but really very cute), and also warthogs, squirrels and guinea fowl come very close. Loeries will come and sit on your lap and eat fruit out of your hand - just an absolutely amazing experience and can't wait to go again! Heard Lions and Zebras in the evenings and also saw a big Muskelljaatcat right in front of our place about 10.30pm - beautiful animal! The activity facilities themselves are also in top condition! Soccer/action cricket pitch, tennis court and children's play areas are very well looked after! The small farm shop doesn't have a large selection of items, otherwise the town is about a 20-minute drive away, which isn't too bad either. Unfortunately we missed the elephants through the lodge this time, but I know they can walk right up to your unit. Big leopard tracks seen so listen but if they say don't go hiking without guides. Owner is also very hands-on and will go out of his way to accommodate any requests - Was a great experience and can highly recommend!
My husband and I booked for a getaway in Tlou. As always, very tasty. Beautiful accommodation and tranquil atmosphere. Would definitely recommend it. Thanks Yolanda. Your place is stunning.
Great facilities. Friendly, helpful service.
A herd of elephants visited us at the boma on Saturday afternoon. They ate on the trees up to 15 meters from our chalet. It was an experience to experience them so closely. We were a little disappointed and expected to see more wildlife when we went for a drive. The forest is very rough. Furthermore, we had a great time relaxing and it was a treat for the soul and spirit. The chalet is very comfortable with everything you need and was also very clean. We will see you again on the 15th of December 2020.
Fantastic weekend. Will go back.
Quiet weekend where we could get away before our next little one arrives. Lots to do in the reserve and in the surrounding area. Absolutely worth visiting.
Only one negative. Could there be maps of the game drive area be available in the room. The TV channels and guide as well. The sport channels were disappointing as the selection was limited.
The mattress needs to be replaced - back hurt. The braai area needs to be renovated.
I was very surprised with the place. I rented it for both my parents and my brother and sister in law and was pleasantly surprised. Would definitely recommend but would suggest renting 260a and b both at the same time. I think you sacrifice privacy if you only rent one part.
Will visit again Climate, amenities, wildlife viewing, roads are all A+. Friendly reception and friendly service. Nice breath created in nature.
Almost no wildlife seen during drives through the park, but the wildlife/bird life around the chalet made up for it. The private boma was perfectly situated with antelope and warthog grazing peacefully nearby. The cottage is small but very well laid out with modern bathrooms and all the amenities we could need. The bed, which is higher than the living area, gives a nice view of the outdoors through the windows. One light switch did not work, but after reporting it was fixed. Dudu, who came to clean our house every day, is very friendly and cleans thoroughly. We will definitely come again!
It is not that far to drive from Johannesburg. The arrangements were well made. Unit is neat and important for me in the heat in the summer is an air cooler and fan.
Great comfort and the accommodation was perfect.
Blyplek's kitchen is minimalist, but contains everything needed. Weather was bad and we had to eat inside - not very convenient without a table. The place is meant for outdoor living. Nearby farm shop is a delightful experience, with swimming pool and all leisure facilities.
Very relaxing and amazing view of the bushveld.
Very nice. Will go again
Would have liked more information about the camp and animals.
The resort are nice. But to little game. BIG 5?
The restaurant and bar staff look very unhappy. I'm not sure if they are underpaid or mistreated. The service and food at the restaurant is really terrible. The service gets 2 out of 5 and the food gets 2 out of 5. The pizza was OK but we only got a pizza menu on the last day.
Not all facilities available on weekdays, disappointed.
Had a cremation of a bull elephant at the boma that came to fumble for a leak. Wonderful, but also unusual.
Everything was nice and enjoyed the time, but the unit inside was dirty, floor was not swept properly, there was broken glass on the floor, some pill, pen, stick on eye lash, some thread also on the floor upon our arrival. During our stay they didn't sweep the place out every day, and when we checked out all the bedding wasn't taken down to wash like blanket and duvet, so that means I slept on someone else's germs/mess too, sick!
The accommodation is lovely and very clean and tidy. It was the perfect weekend to enjoy the forest and holiday resort atmosphere together!
The unit is very nicely equipped and clean. Mabalingwe resort provides a lot of entertainment. We really enjoyed the weekend, see you again soon.
The unit itself was perfect, but the cleaners make the unit next door their hangout from early until after 2pm. We wouldn't want to stay there for more than 2 days with noise from them.
Had a great time. The owner was in contact the whole time to ensure we were happy. We had a great time. Can't wait to return.
Amazing vacation spot.
Home away from home. Very nice for a weekend away from all the city noises. Does one's whole being very well. Thanks again, also to Morne the host of the house. You're a thousand people, kinder and friendlier you hardly find.
If you're lucky, you'll see a lot of game, the big 5, among others.
Very neat tranquil accommodation in the bushveld with animals coming to your doorstep. Everything perfectly arranged for a quick city break. Thank you very much.
My family and I really enjoyed it and think it is really value for money. It's a nice break in the woods and you can keep your children very busy. The improvements made are very neat, comfortable and tidy. Bedding was more than enough and beds very comfortable. I would really recommend the place to any person and friends and would love to go again anytime. My son really enjoyed it. I feel the previous person's comment is not valid and had nothing to complain about. We have stayed in many places and can't say anything bad about the place.
Very nice stay for 2 people. Quiet and peaceful with many animals sharing your space, as mentioned just watch out for the monkeys. A paradise for that matter. Apartment has everything needed. Boma is very nice for a campfire, Mabalingwe has beautiful scenery and will definitely go again.
We were pleasantly surprised with how neat and clean the unit was. It was our first bushveld getaway and will definitely book there again in the future.
Ons het ons wegbreeknaweek baie geniet en verskriklik dankie dat julle die kombuis nou binne-in toegemaak het, dit is soveel makliker en geriefliker! Die badkamer se opknappings lyk baie baie mooi!
Fans were on and the room was very clean and well appointed, with the exception of a bedside table. There was no map of the resort, no list of animals that could be seen, or warnings that the monkeys come into the windows and steal. The email giving directions and information about the key was only received by email the day before and we had already left. We had to phone to find out how to get into the unit. No instructions on what to do when you leave. Communications very bad.
Enjoyed it a lot and will definitely go back, unit was comfortable with everything needed.
Thin blankets with thin extra blankets - resort still brought on request. It is winter and cold. Pillows and blankets are old (please bring your own). Mattress is worn through and uncomfortable. No heaters. After the extension, the place is still dirty. Walls and door in bathroom full of cement marks. DStv connection that we paid for did not work. Owner does not follow up to hear if everything was sorted. Owner clearly annoyed with criticism. No what, there are much better places for the same rate per night.
The accommodation was fantastic and I loved the accommodation and Mabalingwe!
It was a lovely break. Really enjoyed the forest.
Had a "midweek" break at Elephant Lodge last week and can only speak highly of the resort and and the unit. Very nice (as always), very clean and simply delicious. Would recommend this unit anytime.
Mabalingwe is a great holiday resort for a holiday or even just a weekend getaway. Love the wildlife on your back porch! The view from the restaurant is incredibly beautiful, and the manatees just a few meters away is something to experience. The various game drives are a must, especially feeding these predators on Sunday morning. What an experience! We will definitely visit Mabalingwe again.
Although we only slept there, everything we would need was available. Everything was very clean and there are also enough blankets if we needed them. We will definitely use the unit again and will also recommend it to other people.
It was a very nice weekend away with my husband and little boy. We did get a bit cold on the 1st night, a small heater would have been nice. The place itself was nice and clean, and the braai area was very nice. Our little boy really enjoyed it and ran all over the place.
Quiet and definitely a place I will go to again soon. If clean and tidy!
Mabalingwe stole our hearts. It is picture perfect and the people are friendly and very helpful. The unit was just right for us and we enjoyed the stay. Would like to stay higher up but will choose the option when we are more people.
Mabalingwe Elephant Lodge is a fantastic destination with many animals. We saw everything from the Big 5 except leopards. Amenities are excellent and there is plenty to do. It is peaceful and the accommodation includes all basic necessities. We did have to wait a bit to get the key for our chalet because the owner did not send the code for the safe otherwise no complaints.
I enjoyed my stay, more specifically the environment itself.
Mabalingwe is a great holiday resort with lots to do for children and good wildlife excursions! The unit was very good, there was dirty water in the cold taps. Boma is a lot of licks! Elephants have come to visit!
Amazing getaway for couples and families.
We enjoyed the break, the room was good and everything was in its place.
There is room for improvement. Kitchen/living area is not practical for food preparation (very little space). TV signal was bad, eventually no tv at all and choice of channels could be better. It is very clean and neat. Big plus point is that the toilet is separate from bathroom.
No star report: Pathetic misleading information on self-catering "fully equipped" kitchen: it is actually situated outside the chalet under the stoep's roof. Monkeys and warthogs was begging for food/stealing food while preparing! No airconditioning. The roof fan only had one speed setting - and it was very noisy so you could not sleep with it on. Ceiling light above the bed came lose from the wall and hung on hinge. Water in one unit became brown in all taps the second day, could not use the bathroom. Pathetic experience.
