51 guests' feedbackIt was a great weekend at Mabalingwe. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. There are many activities to choose from and the wildlife there is amazing.
Very nice stay. The only complaint is that our unit's exterior light didn't work and you can't use the stove because it trips the power.
Our overnight stay was very nice and definitely worth it.
Very good and peaceful, so nice and quiet.
Unit has everything you need and is as shown. Again was a problem phoning the lady who runs the unit to get the code to get into the accommodation as well as the code to get to the unit key. She doesn't answer her phone and I had to ask to get in touch with her. We waited 50 minutes at the entrance to the accommodation before we were finally helped. This is unacceptable and should be addressed. We had the same experience when we visited the accommodation in March this year.
Stay was nice, the kitchen area is just very uncomfortable, especially with a sink outside. Very little space to e.g. tea, coffee, sugar, and bread or prepared food. We had a nice rest, but if we want to go longer than now, I would prefer to book a bigger unit.
Quiet, very healthy animals and units close to the pool.
The accommodation is very well located and peaceful in nature. There were no shower or bath mats. There were also no floor cloths, brooms or mops to mop up in case of an emergency. The first cold water in the bathroom was pitch black and dirty, and the sink was also dirty. It took a long time to run clean. I had to go and buy water to drink and for the kettle. The multiplug to use all the equipment was faulty. It was inconvenient to change the kettle, microwave and grill every time you wanted to use them. Ants were a big problem so I had to go buy poison and spray every day.
Towels stink, again. Second stay, no change. I will have to bring my own next time.
Mabalingwe is like our second home, this unit was beautifully located and had everything we needed. Close to the pools and entertainment area. The only disappointment is the lack of communication from the host; she takes ages to respond to any communication and it almost caused a problem, aside from that our stay was amazing.
There is a lack of cutlery, some of the cooking utensils are in poor condition, no instructions how the TV works. No toilet seat etc.
Visits to Elephant Lodge are always very enjoyable. Unit Kiewiet needs a bit of love and attention as we noticed that there were a few "maintenance" areas. The front door (out to the braai area) could not close completely (it seems as if the wood has "swelled" due to rainwater perhaps). The back door has a catch, but the catch is broken and broken off. The unit is still one of the original "Tau Lodge" units with basic crockery and a very small fridge/freezer. The unit was clean upon arrival (the air conditioner was not working). "Loadshedding" which was out of everyone's control is a big problem like everywhere else in SA, but we were happy to see there were 2 rechargeable lights available for the dark. Although it was raining (and our barbeque was cancelled), we noticed that the barbeque had not been cleaned from the previous guests. In any case, we would not be able to braai in the braai area as it was dirty. Still had a great time on Mabalingwe.
First of all, the place looked a bit dusty, as if it is not regularly cleaned. There was no WiFi inside, which is necessary because there's no MTN network. It would also have been a bit better if there was a private braai stand. The tissue quality was terrible; it was a 0.5 ply. Also, poor drainage as the water goes out slowly. And the bed was singles instead of a double at least.
I am deeply disappointed with my overall booking experience at this unit. While I received good service from the agency team and the cleaning staff at the establishment, the service provided by the host severely overshadowed these positives. Firstly, despite numerous requests, the host failed to respond to my emails regarding the bed configuration to be made into a king-size bed. Secondly, I did not receive check-in instructions prior to my arrival, resulting in confusion at the resort's reception. When I contacted the host shortly before check-in, I was met with attitude and informed that the instructions would be sent via WhatsApp. Fortunately, I had signal reception at the resort, but my husband, lacking coverage, would have been unable to receive these messages. Additionally, upon arrival, I discovered that the unit number provided did not match the one provided by the host, who only explained the change after I questioned it. The new room had a wasp nest above the door, differed from the one I booked (especially the bathroom), and lacked the requested king-sized bed. Despite multiple attempts to contact the host, I was met with rudeness when addressing these issues. Eventually, after being provided with another room, the experience improved slightly, with the cleaning staff assisting in fixing the bed. However, the host's demeanor and lack of communication significantly detracted from the overall experience and diminished the positive service provided by the agency team.
Well equipped and clean.
Have stayed in Elephant Lodge many times. First time in the unit. Will definitely book there again. DStv is a bonus and a big TV. Looked for Elephants all weekend, then they visited us in Elephant Lodge on Sunday afternoon until later. What an experience. Can definitely recommend the unit.
Exterior light at front door not working. Hook broken off at front door's end.
We enjoyed it and will visit again. Wonderful animals and birds seen in the reserve and there is a lot to do. The house is simple but it has everything you need. It's not very private, two houses right next to each other separated by a thin wooden frame. The other guests in area made a lot of noise. The braai place is far from the house. Communication with owners was good and they were able to sort out most problems.
The unit was not pre-cleaned. Very importantly, there was no bread knife, bottle opener or can opener. I let the managing agent know, message was read but not even answered. I had to call around the night before we had to check in to get information about keys and location, there was no communication before that.
Neat and clean. Our door's lock was just broken so we couldn't lock the door and we struggled to find out when it was loadshedding but then asked one of the other guests. Furthermore, the aircon, fan, TV and DStv worked well. We had nice hot water and the fridge was nice and cold. We forgot to take coffee and milk with us but there was toilet paper, towels and an extra warm blanket.
The place was great, but the white blankets had black spots. I wasn't provided wifi also.
No communication for code of access at tree or door of unit. No light that burns at door for so-called. no parking. Boma far from unit and there is no barbecue grill.
Not worth Price per night, smelly and neglected unit. + still no feedback from owner or offer of refund. Only stayed one night, although paid for 2, terribly neglected accommodation/odour. . 3weeks still with no feedback from owner. . More than Happy to take your money for sub-standard service.
DStv decoder not working. Emergency light not working. Missing crockery. Braai area light not working. Pillows were awful. Advised host who said they would fix the next day after advising her. Still waiting.
We really enjoyed the location as it was close to the shops and restaurants. The place was lovely and clean. Animals come in the morning. Got a nice surprise when the monkeys came to visit. It was a fantastic stay.
We had a lovely time at Mabalingwe. The unit was conveniently situated, neat and clean. We had a lovely time.
Very nice bushveld experience.
Well located. Not too far from my house. Nice environment.
We really enjoyed it, will come again.
Nice place if you and another traveler just want to relax and have a nice base from which you can participate in all the activities.
Was very nice. Will go again.
The cleaning was not up to standard. I did expect more for the price you pay.
See stars.
We had a nice weekend at Mabalingwe and definitely recommend it. People are very friendly. The tranquility is the best and all the beautiful animals are fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay! Saw amazing animals on our drives, felt so safe (with regard to Covid) with the contactless check in and everyone at the resort wore masks and kept their distance. Apart from the main bedroom fan needing a bit of repairs so it’s not so wobbly- we were very happy. Will definitely be back soon!
It was a nice visit, but the unit was a bit neglected, our door could not be unlocked and the people who came to help us opened the door for us with a knife. Very nice location, many animals visit there. I would just suggest looking into maintenance.
Booked to celebrate my 70th birthday there, bathroom rotten with ants and 2 sprays after I complained. Braai-boma dirty and broken grill couldn't even braai.
First time I didn't have a good stay in Mabalingwe.
We had a great time with a lot of wildlife coming right up to our chalet (nyala, warthog, bush pigs), we were even fortunate to have a herd of elephant walk directly past our braai area.
Great experience indeed. Waking up to nature was amazing.
A few things of utmost importance: The curtains are very dirty. Bathroom light not working. Bathroom door handle is broken. Aircon not working, may not open windows for animals. Kitchenware very chipped. Potte cabinet's door is broken, difficult to open. It is the overall cleanliness that borders on neglect and quickly lacks attention. The game drive was chaos at first, too many people booked for vehicles.
The cleaners need to "spring clean" once in a while, then there should not be spider webs on the chairs.
Recommend it. Although it was hot, the air conditioning is good. The place was clean and (Tarentaal and not Kiewiet) is tidy except for a few small defects.
Was very nice and relaxing. Only thing is at night to find the place. On the first night it was hard as the numbers are too small and we had no map.
A little TLC could turn this unit into a gem.
Lovely stay and service was very good. Everything very tidy and would recommend it for a wonderful break in the bush with excellent amenities and facilities.
Very impressed with the service we received. Very friendly and helpful.
Thank you for letting us check in so late.
It was very nice! Baby clothes were just full of dust, because they are on a cupboard.
