58 guests' feedbackVery interesting and relaxing experience.
The room is nicely located. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay.
Very nice stay! My suggestion is to put a bath mat in the bathroom.
Nice stay. One window is broken near the back door. The back door could not open. It was repaired the next day. The toilet light bulb blew last night. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.
At Mabilingwe you will definitely find rest for body and soul! The beautiful scenery, animals that come to your doorstep and tidy accommodation make it an unforgettable experience. Of course, feeding the predators is an absolute highlight. This was a weekend to remember and Mabilingwe will definitely see us more often!
We thoroughly enjoyed the facilities at the camp. As for this specific unit, we were supplied with all the basics, but this unit is in serious need of a refurb.
There were quite a few things in the unit that were not to be desired, but the visit to the place was, as always, very enjoyable.
The place is very nicely located. Kitchenware needs an upgrade. Casserole for barbecue please. Salad bowl and holder for microwave also please. Maybe put a shelf or shelf on the wall outside to put dishes on or use for work space. Not all the lights worked. Outside also by the path please.
Nice stay, very relaxing.
No blankets, misunderstanding about how guests are treated, broken window frame.
A nightmare, the host is rude, place is filthy, no lights.
The outside lights do not work at all, there is no lighting at the braai area. The grill must be rested on bricks and the outside tap must be fixed. Other than that, the accommodation is well located and tidy.
We booked my son and his wife there. They told me what was wrong there. Lights wouldn't work. Kitchen was not up to expectations. Fridge keeps leaking water and stove too high to reach. The shower had no water pressure. And half a toilet roll was left for them. Beautiful place, but the above needs attention! Other than that, they were happy. They just couldn't spend another night there. Was just inconvenient with the stuff not working.
The silence of the forest, the load shedding, makes it even more special. Then you hear the nightlife.
Plekkie is very nicely equipped and the camp is very beautiful. Braaipelkie needs some attention. Would love to go back again. Just a pity our neighbors didn't follow the rules with the loud music they played! Our booking was for 265A but then got 265B which we were completely satisfied with.
It was okay, I was expecting WiFi at least but overall it was nice.
On arrival the password to get the key for the door was different than what was sent to me. The DStv decoder did not have a power cord so the children could watch something. The toaster did not work for bread with our breakfast. There are no braai facilities at the unit at all and it is very irresponsible to want to prop up a dish braai, without legs, with bricks and expect people to be able to use it. It is definitely the biggest turn off not to be able to barbecue at your "place" that you pay for. Didn't even know there was WiFi in the place, if there wasn't it's just maybe another complaint the next people will say. Would never want to go to the place again, not for the poor quality.
First, many of our refrigerator's shelves were missing. How should I use my fridge if most of the shelves are gone? After I complained it was promised that we would get a new fridge the next day which did not happen. Secondly, one usually goes to the forest to enjoy the silence and animal sounds. At two units next to us there was broken and built! Being woken up at six in the morning by a grinder is very unpleasant! And then we still have to listen to it all day until late at night. Couldn't the construction be done out of season!? Thirdly, the window frame was broken, which made the apartment full of dust and freezing cold. Fourth, I had to call twice to get the gate code and safe code! Something I should have gotten a long time ago! We love Mabalingwe but this experience gave us a big slip! I would not recommend the unit to anyone.
Best vacation spot in the woods for families. Daily sports and games to keep the kids busy at the pool. Routes are very easy to go see animals yourself in the forest.
I would like to visit the place in the future.
Nature at its best and good price.
Everything we needed for a very relaxed stay.
We enjoyed our stay at Mabalingwe Elephant Lodge Unit 265A Visarend. Animals roaming just outside our window was great. The place is quiet and surrounded by a bush and sounds of water flowing if you walk around the backyard. housekeeping can certainly do a better job in cleaning the rooms. There are so many ants on the floor and spider webs on the corners and under the bench next to the bed. The outside fireplace/braai area was not cleaned.
Unit needs minor attention. Toilet leaking. No mop to clean up. No light outside by front door. No light outside back door by sink so washing up in the dark problematic. Boma dirty.
Boma at unit was the highlight, basic maintenance as well as amenities not up to standard. Not really surface area in kitchen for self catering, no braai bowl. The unit was not clean. We will not stay there again.
Bedding is not clean, not changed from previous guest, very dirty with stains.
We loved it and will return for sure!
The place was pretty neat and had everything we needed. The light by the outside sink was only broken and the plug where the oven stands was broken, but that was not a problem.
But the toilet leaked, and bathroom basin was missing the warm water tap. The outlay of the unit is not very practical, the inside stove and plates are too high too use and the clothes cupboard is with the kitchen utensils.
This particular unit had some problems. The hot tap at the sink didn't work so my husband couldn't shave. The microwave didn't have a plate in it, couldn't use it. Washbasin outside wooden door is broken and almost fell on my feet. The plug under the table by the mirror in the kitchen area does not work.
The faucet in the bathroom is broken and has no handle. Microwave's days are numbered and no longer has a plate on which you can place the food or a mug to warm up. The fridge froze everything in there so my vegetables and soft drinks and everything was rock hard. Had to pull the plug out to be able to defrost the stuff. The maid did not clean properly.
Layout of lodge very impractical. No surface area to make food comfortable. The one faucet didn't work. No hooks in bathroom for towels. Only one power point in whole room because one wouldn't work. No timetable for boma provided. We will not come here again.
Definitief 'n plek waar ek weer sal gaan.
Well equipped unit and braai facilities.
PEACEFUL AND CALM ATMOSPHERE.
We had a nice peaceful weekend, just a shame we couldn't spot the elephants after we crashed the park. Would suggest that they install hooks or arrangements in bathroom to hang wet towels. On arrival we saw that the bathroom light was not working after which we reported it, unfortunately we had to use the bathroom in the dark because no one came to fix the light.
View at dining area very beautiful. Warm and cold swimming pools, clean and pretty.
Maintenance is required on the unit. Door and window frames have been eaten by ants. Front door has difficulty opening and closing due to ant problem Plates and cups are chipped. There is a monkey problem...they grab food etc from the unit and vehicles and are dangerous. Bench seat is unpleasant to sit on. We asked for a double bed mattress and then got 2 beds with worn mattresses pushed against each other!
Cute unit for 2 people that just needs very, very serious attention. Lights don't work. Water runs from behind a closed cabinet under the sink when the shower is used. Not all the power plugs inside work. The fridge, cutlery plates and cups must be replaced. Not really a self catering unit, hard to cook. More of a hotel room with a few extras.
I would not recommend the chalet for the following reasons: Fridge - no shelves on the inside of the fridge, freezer, no vegetable or fruit bowl(s). Kitchen utensils non-existent - scissors unusable, no paring knife. No work space in the kitchen. No cleaning accessories, e.g. broom, duster consists of 2 feathers. The kitchen cabinet doors under the stove are falling apart. The shower is not waterproof. Floor under water. The toilet does not flush properly. No separate hanging space for clothes. Inside cupboard between kitchen dishes and pots. No place to hang wet towels. We ourselves managed a hotel with self-catering units and as far as I'm concerned the chalet. Not at all suitable for a 4 day period. Osprey requires a lot of attention as far as I'm concerned.
See stars.
Would appreciate if the lodge will have irons installed in the rooms.
The place where we stayed needs some attention. Door handle was broken, light switch was broken, light bulbs short, there was only one bowl of porridge and one glass. Also think it will be bad for people who want to cook themselves, because when you shower all the water runs out of the window to the stove. They just need to update their road map. But was nice.
Very nice place and service is very good, if you have a problem they sort they sort it out directly and everyone assists when you have a question, I will go back anytime.
Always nice for a weekend getaway.
Very cute places. Thanks for the extra fan. But an aircon will make a big difference. The families with the small team enjoyed it immensely and plan to come and stay here again.
The initial problems with light bulbs and a boiler were immediately sorted out by Christa and Monique. Furthermore, the unit is well equipped. Although, shelves next to the fridge for food, drinks etc. to unpack, and a shelf at the bottom of the chest of drawers next to the bed to unpack clothes as well as a shelf or bedside table on the other side of the bed will make the unit even more comfortable, especially if visitors like to stay longer than 1 or 2 nights want to stay And maybe a bread tin? The table and benches in front of the door are much appreciated, although one cannot eat there in the evening because the light is insufficient. Because there were only two of us, we were fortunately able to fit comfortably at the small table inside. A pensioner is just looking for a table to eat at. The boma/barbecue is a winner. I would definitely vacation in the unit again regardless of above recommendations.
Mabalingwe is a stunning place to rest, and the unit is very comfortable.
My partner and I felt incredibly close to nature. It's like one big family that makes you feel at home. Of the goats, guinea fowls and aardvarks that run past people. Night monkeys, blue monkeys and a variety of bird species. We were incredibly impressed with the place and would go and rest in the forest at Mabilingwe again any day.
Was great thank you very much. Just sorry for the rain.
It was definitely a nice place. The only thing that wasn't nice was the freezer that was frozen and the dusty items in the kitchen cabinets. Good value for money.
Everything was nice, the service perfect and way of solving problems professionally were excellent. The promised king-size bed were twin beds pushed together and constantly moved apart during the evening. The kitchen of the house was also not fitted to the standard. It had no plug for the kettle on the counter, so it had to be plugged in under the vanity where we had to sit to make coffee. There were also two DSTV decoders but none of them worked.
Great place to visit and it's very peaceful, from the staff to the pool, the view and the surroundings at large, not one moment of regret at all, money well spent.
Very nice with small bomas. Sociable. Toilet water leaks on tiled floor. Half a roll of toilet paper.
Very neat and modern accommodation. Only had a problem with toilet leaking and insufficient "plug points" for kettle and toaster.
Expected more for R1000 per night. The piggies and monkeys are cute but that's about it. There was not even a table where one could sit and eat or visit.
