65 guests' feedbackGreat stay! Enjoyed it a lot. Lots of sightings from your unit and bouma.
I had a nice stay and it was peaceful.
Was very nice and quiet.
The booking and stay was very quick and without any problems, which was much appreciated since we actually checked out of another property that was one of our worst stays ever! Thank you for the quick, easy check-in!
There was so much for myself and the girls. We had visitors all the time including bush pig, nyala, warthogs, ground squirrels, mongoose and monkeys. The entertainment area is great allowing mom some down time. The horse riding was thoroughly enjoyed and the girls kept everyone entertained on the night drive. We saw the elephants, rhino and aardvark. So many wonderful memories made.
The house was pretty clean, but there were wasps inside the house. Certain lights did not work. There were no tongs available and unfortunately the fridge froze all our food. There was boiling hot water to shower in. If you want to visit the Mabalingwe area during the rainy season, consider booking a "game drive" as many of the roads are not accessible for small sedan type cars.
There were some problems with the lock on the door. I asked for a king bed, but there were two single beds next to each other. Other than that, everything was perfect.
I would recommend Mabalingwe, but I still feel there were shortcomings. I emailed the owner and to this day have not received a reply. Our unit was not very clean. We had to ask for a second wine glass and toilet roll, and we only had one face towel (we were 2 ladies). There were also no large bowls to mix salad in, and no bottle opener. I was also unsure of what standard amenities to expect - there was no soap available and we weren't advised to bring any. The public areas were severely lacking in recliners and cushions, and we were told that the cushions had been moved to the hot water pool. The place itself is beautiful, but the service is lacking.
Very basic unit. But well priced. Toilet leaks on floor. Take your own barbecue grill.
The unit needs a lot of maintenance. It wasn't cleaned well, ceiling fan doesn't work, and there are wires hanging open from lights that are out. There is no outside light at the table on the stoep so that one can sit and eat there. Also not mentioned is that 2 plate stove and sink sit outside the unit. No lights/flashes are provided for load shedding.
The unit has a lot of potential but needs a lot of repairs. If all faults are repaired it will be a lovely centrally located unit.
The units are very outdated and an upgrade will definitely need to be done. Some of the kitchen necessities were not there, e.g. a braai tong and braai bowl.
Thanks for the accommodation and kindness of lodge workers. Everyone welcomed us with good attitude.
We were not aware that the cottage is serviced if we leave the key in the case where we originally got it. No notice received or posted in the unit. The builders directly next to our unit were not pleasant. Maintenance is no longer done. Closet door and some lights are off. Bath has been replaced with a shower. Not sure if there is wi-fi. Could not find any password.
The unit was nice, comfortable and well laid out. Very poor cell phone reception.
Close bush stay, good ammenities, nice reserve, affordable.
Game drives were fantastic, really enjoyed it, only braai area had no light. There is no WiFi.
There are many things in the unit that do not work e.g. shower, fan, lights and lights for asload shedding kick in. People at 265A were making a lot of noise and drinking and you couldn't report it. The fire extinguisher had been sprayed out.
Would go back again & recommend for family/friends.
Tame animals on your doorstep. Quiet and beautiful nature.
Attention should only be given to wasp nests at the front door and braai area.
The game drives were wonderful and the guides were so passionate and very knowledgeable about the bush and animals. The Vulture Bar served delicious food and waiters were so friendly. Such a wonderful, soulful experience of the bush. Thank you.
The game was excellent down near the river.
My wife and I had a nice rest. It is quiet in nature with the stream of water. Close to the farm store and other things.
Nice and quiet. Safe. Fantastic.
For 2 people reasonable, but it is cramped.
Units are good enough for weekend getaways. The lodge itself needs maintenance, grass very long. The unit is equipped with what is needed for an overnight stay, but dirty.
It was our first time in Mabilengwe and it surprised me a lot. The house we stayed in was nice and tidy. You can easily kiss your children, there is a lot to do. Would definitely recommend.
The shower was dripping water all over.
Unit incredibly dirty. Cobwebs everywhere. DSTV decoder not working - hence, no TV. Sink and two plate stove outside are impractical. No grill for unit.
Very nice.
Very nice stay just a few things I already mentioned.
265B Loerie has everything we needed. The unit is very comfortable and tidy, and more than enough space for two people. The stoep and the boma are blissful and we saw so many animals and birds from there. It's a peaceful camp and we were able to relax wonderfully there. Thanks to Monique for all her arrangements and she was very efficient with all the information and directions she sent us.
Definitely a very positive experience. Unit was clean and well located. Animals were tame and well looked after. Food at restaurant was also of good quality. Will definitely go there again overnight.
We really enjoyed it at Mabalingwe. Will definitely use the unit again.
Wow, was such a relaxing stay. Never had such close contact with wild animals before.
Very quiet and tidy accommodation.
On the 25.12.2020 we have been visited by a troop of elephants of which two of them came as far as to our kitchen, grab a wooden spoon on the cooking pot, swallowed it and spit it again and it then in three piece. It then removed the lid of the pot wanted to pick what was inside with its trump but unfortunately it realised that the contents were very hot it suddenly back off and left the scene. It was quite interesting to watch although frightened and scary situation, wow!
I typed in the wrong dates. They helped me fix it quickly, very good service.
Ideal for relaxing after a week of hard work. Very calm.
The bathroom light doesn't work, neither does the one in front of the front door. There are two pans for bacon or eggs in the cupboard, but not a single pot for making porridge or gravy. The door that opens onto the porch does not have a hook. It flaps when the wind blows. The large pane may break. To limit damage, I suggest that the possibility of attaching a hook should be considered. Neat new little lapa, but unfortunately the legs of the grill don't fit in the cavity for the coals. The bar is too high. Other than that, all right.
Neat little studio unit, walking distance to the on-site shop, tennis, mini golf and pool. Great for a weekend breakaway. Luckily for us the elephants came within 5 metres of the unit on one of our nights which was an added bonus. Having an aircon in the unit was a pleasant surprise as well.
The unit is quite small and the stairs inside are inconvenient. A rainproof canopy outside over the table bench will also help a lot if it rains like it does every night. Other than that there are no problems.
Great to have elephants, goats and warthogs for guests right on your doorstep.
Enjoyed it a lot, and would recommend it anytime.
Just one complaint: there were no braai thongs.
What a pleasant surprise! Everything one wants for a nice weekend. Just a pity the path to the braai did not work, as did the light at the braai. Otherwise enjoyable.
The place is so nice and quiet, we really enjoyed our stay at Mabalingwe.
Lady who helped us with booking was very helpful. Everything is very nice except the bathtub that has a crack in it and microwave does not have a plate in it. There is currently construction next door that makes it look untidy. The grounds around the place looked unkempt with outside lights not working, as with boma and chairs that were dirty. The grill doesn't fit well on the braai either.
While the reserve is beautiful, I would certainly not go back to this particular place because we had a number of requests during our stay, but got no assistance on these whatsoever.
Very basic, with almost no room for bags etc. Sink and 2-plate stove outside. No place to eat at or prepare food inside. Outside bench only. Toilet leaks and the entire floor is wet after a few uses. Not sure what's spilling onto the floor, but suspect it's sewage! Shower head leaks, and sprays everything in the bathroom soaking wet when you shower, including your clothes and shoes you put on there. Back door can only be opened and closed by force. Cabinet under outside sink's door hinges were broken off.
Had a lovely stay and relaxed.
Lovely surprise from JHB. Absolute value for money.
The unit was clean and everything one needs is there. The best is if you sit outside in the evenings and the animals pass by on the stoep. Fantastic. Even my 20 year old son enjoyed it.
My son and I had a wonderful stay - we had everything we needed. The warthogs, nyalas and kudus walked right by our house, it was absolutely beautiful! The shop, playground for children and the swimming pool were within walking distance from the unit and we enjoyed walking. It was a great experience and we will definitely be back.
TV did not work, base plate for microwave missing. Only one plug near the ground, toaster and kettle had to be on the ground. Door handles loose, bathroom tap handle came off, hot water system difficult.
It was very dry and very hot. There wasn't asmuch game as we hoped for. We bird watched at our place of residence with the flow of water that passes within 20 meters from us. We went to the campsite and there were the best birds in the whole place. The map they provide is just a frustration. They can fire the artist and get a technical person to put together a better one. There is very little useful information and it is not accurate enough. The place is full of cement blocks with numbers on top and the map does not show that. Some water holes seem to be close to the road and then closer to another road. Consider showing field types, broadleaf and thornveld, weaker roads, specific wild areas, distance scale, seasonal or permanent water holes, and so on.
We really enjoyed the unit, all basic appliances were available to us. It had just been really, really hot and you couldn't set the roof fan any faster. Also really very cute.
Had a nice stay, the place is small but has the basic necessities. Our light at the boma didn't work but had friendly neighbor who shared. I would recommend not going here with small children, but a group of friends would work. We went home early one day due to little to do for small children. We were there in the beginning of spring, would recommend that Mabalingwe maybe invest money for a heating on the swimming pool. Game was little to be seen apart from basic impalas, zebras, warthogs and kudus. Went to see more at Thabazimbie Sanpark Marakele about 150 km away. The feeding session of the predators was very exciting. The accommodation is suitable for overnight stays, but not necessarily for visiting. Would recommend for a young couple who wants a peaceful stay. The help from the management was appreciated, they provided us with wood in exchange for our boma's light which could not be fixed over the long weekend.
Place was good but cleanliness is an issue.
Mabalingwe itself is a very nice resort. Our house wasn't very neat. Bathroom door is broken and not a lot of cutlery to prepare food with. Boma's light didn't work. But it was a good weekend, saw beautiful birds and warthogs who visited our patio everyday.
