Very comfortable. Excellent facilities. Quiet. Remote but easily accessible. Seemed very secure.
Very enjoyable with the sound of the river.
Neat and clean. Had a great time and slept with my family.
It is very peaceful and beautiful, thank you.
Had a great time with friends in comfort of quiet, clean, nature, forest abode.
Very nice stay and relaxed.
Quiet environment with everything we needed.
If you want to go and get quiet in the woods, semi-secluded, the chalets are a good choice. It feels a bit cut off from the outside world. If you would rather enjoy a holiday-type accommodation, their tented houses by the river are an excellent choice with the most beautiful view, swimming pool and tranquility around you.
The road was difficult for an ordinary car. There was a mouse running around there. Still, we enjoyed it. It really is in the woods, which was lovely.
Friendly service, cleanliness, tranquility everything was just nice and located close to everything so you don't have to drive far.
Such a good time. Everything one needs.
Great host and staff. Excellent facilities on the glamping site. Units include everything anyone could need from braai and tools to crockery and cutlery, fridge, gas 4-plate hob, electric oven, kettle, toaster pots pans and more. Beautifully situated on the banks of the Sabie River with a great sound of the fast-running river over the rocks to lull you to sleep. There's even a wood-burning fireplace inside the tent for the cold times of the year. Recent heavy rains have caused major damage to the steep downhill road into the campsite, but Ryan is saving no expense in repairing the road and is even stabilising the base coarse with OPC cement (rather than lime), and has brought in new heavy-duty paving brick for the new road surface. He has a professional contractor doing the work and they really have brought in heavy-duty compaction equipment. I have no doubt that the exercise is costing Ryan a fortune, but it is clear to anyone with engineering knowledge that he will reap the benefit in due course. In a region where neglect and poor workmanship are the norm, Ryan must be applauded for a sterling effort. The welcome was timeous and it was great that Ryan spent quite some time chatting with us in spite of the pressure he is under. All the facilities they advertise are not only there, but they are better than advertised and the "honesty shop" rates are really very reasonable. Well done Ryan and staff.
Just right to get away from the city. Road is a bit bad because the lot of rain All that is needed is a generator for our nice load shedding problem.
With rugby as the exception, a TV would have been handy. But its provision would have been special. But then the silence was disturbed. The provision of limited light because there was load shedding is appreciated. Thanks to the owner and his staff for excellent communication and availability. Would love to stay there again.
It was very quiet, relaxing and peaceful away from the hustle and bustle.
The only concern was no security at the entrance of the property.
But I have to say the bedding was super clean, the beds themselves had the most amazing mattresses on them. The extras in the place like electric blankets, complimentary coffee etc. was like a bonus! Mackers really impressed us when we got there. The direction we had to go to get to our spot as well as the parking was very well indicated so that one could not go wrong. As mentioned above, I have to be honest and say I'm not the easiest customer and I slept so well on that mattress there that I tried to twist my fiance's arm to spend another night there so I just could sleep on that nice bed for once. The gas stove with the kettle ensured that even during load shedding one could still drink coffee. The water for the shower was deliciously hot. It was spacious and tidy. And the check-in and check-out system they have there, too easy! I would like to request that if a main road such as the way between Hazyview and Sabie is that they/the website only informs you of it so that you can plan your routes around it. But I would recommend anyone to Mackers anytime and also that they book through LekkeSlaap.
Nice and secluded, if that's what you like. The road is not suitable for a sedan that has somewhat low ground clearance. There was no drinking water available, but washing and toilet water.
The word Riverbend made us believe we would be near the river. The road was dangerously steep. Dimly lit. Not enough kitchen utensils. Not modern at all and needs television and internet. Photos misleading. We were 4 persons and 1 had to sleep on the floor.
We had a lovely stay at Mackers. Unit was well equipped and we enjoyed the serene location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's the best place to de-stress. From the warm reception by the host and the incredible staff to the absolute switch off from the hustle and bustle of city life, I can only say it was a well-needed experience to connect with nature and therefore with our Creator. We didn't only come back refreshed physically but also mentally and spiritually. I will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed the time. The nature is very beautiful and it's so peaceful there. The living unit is equipped with everything needed and was clean and tidy. Although it is a gas geyser we had a lovely shower. The shower has a thick jet of water and the water remained constant the whole time. Not like other gas showers we've used.
Beautiful nature and kindness.
City dwellers move in the short end with the noise and bustle and miss the silence of nature as one experiences it in this valley. Off, sacrifice and more sacrifice in the hole and suddenly you are there, what a cremation.
Very calm and friendly.
This is rest at its best.
It was short but nice.
A bit difficult with limited WiFi for teenagers and more especially my husband who needed to keep in touch with ongoing jobs while he was away.
The place is nice and peaceful. We were there in a group of 14 people and enjoyed our stay. However, the sofa beds and some single beds were not so comfortable. Fans in two of the rooms were not working. This was a bit frustrating.
See stars.
Only have 2 concerns the road leading to the venue is not the very best and I might be mistaken, but I think they should include that the water at the facility is sourced from the river and not suitable for consumption. Other than that great stay clean great service friendly staff and close to a hell of a lot of activities.
Nice cool place to visit, I wished I could stay there almost every day.
Nothing was too much trouble for Ryan to accommodate us! Very hospitable!
This was our second time at Mackers. Will stay there every time. Clean, tidy, peaceful place. Love Mackers accommodation.
We stayed there for 1 night but would definitely go again, this time for a few nights.
I am sorry that we did not stay longer. Used it as a stopover on way to KNP. Would love to have seen the place in the light. Was amazingly clean. The water pressure was great.
We had a great time! It was relaxing and we really enjoyed the silence and the boma. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. We'll be back, for sure!
It is a peaceful place. It was a good experience.
We had a very nice stay in cottage number 3. Just not a lot for children to do at the cottages. The braai facilities also need a little bit of attention. But was nice and peaceful.
Visiting area by the campfire was lovely and we really enjoyed the view part, only regret was we couldn't stay a little longer to view it more during the day but we enjoyed it.
Mackers was a nice place to stay. We went as a group of families, so we rented all 3 units, and it was very nice to do this as we had the run of the place. The gas geyser takes some getting used to, I must say, but everything else is there for us and adequate. Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water and water for boiling your kettle. It was rustic, but that is what we expected. It was adequately clean. My main suggestion would be to provide towels the unit a little more frequently than every 4 days. Because the towels are white, we're in a rural setting and we have 3 young kids, the towels got dirty much faster than at home in the city (where our towels are not white). Or if you are going, bring along an extra couple bath towels and an extra hand towel. I also wish I had brought a spare kitchen towel. Also brace yourself for the long driveway down to the unit as it was longer than we had originally anticipated, even though the website spoke about it. Good value for money. Very affordable for our larger family. We always love our stays in the Lowveld and will return again one day.
Nice view. Would just like to see the footpath marked.
Had a great experience very quiet place.
The place is situated between Sabie and Hazyview and there are many family activities around the area. It's close to Kruger National Park, Graskop Gorge and God's Window. There's a nice hiking trail on the premises.
Beautiful surroundings. Unit was clean. No one received us. At least I expected there would be enough coffee for each of the 2 of us for early morning coffee. The access road is only 2 track, in very good condition, but it will be difficult if 2 vehicles have to pass each other.
There are 3 units for holiday goers. We stayed in the 1st unit and were very pleased. Beautiful view. There is a walking trail on the premises just above the parking lot.
The pool may not be used by people staying in the cottages. Only people who book the tents may swim.
We used the place just as an overnight place to go to the Wildlife Park. It's very close to 2 gates of the Wildtuin. The place is very quiet and peaceful. All you hear during braai time are the birds and river at the bottom of the resort. The road is very steep, but it was fun going up and down. It's only going to be difficult if someone comes from the beginning. It only happened once but could easily pass in one place. We had a small problem with the shower but it was sorted within a few hours. We will definitely visit again.
Would really recommend people to stay at Mackers.
Very nice stay. Spacious, neat and well equipped. Will make use of you again. Value for money. Good gateway on the way to the Kruger National Park.
Stayed in the cottages and can't wait to go back! Perfect!
Whilst there may be lots of better places in Hazyview I would always choose Mackers. The host gave us access and invited us in without confirmation from website. I appreciated the attention that they paid to us and also the special valentines gift. Thank you Mackers.
Everyone went out of their way for us.
If you like to feel silence, sounds and river flow sound you should stay.
Mackers is a really great place especially for city people wanting a change of pace. Cottage is beautifully and comfortably furnished. Although the cottage is designed for peace and quiet, it would be good to have a TV in the cottage and it be the guest's choice whether to watch or not. Otherwise, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We had a great time, the cottage was neat and clean, we had hot water, and everything we needed was there in the cottage. It's a great place to enjoy some peace and be in touch with nature.
See stars.
Beautiful, peaceful surroundings. The house had all the necessary amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Will definitely visit this paradise again deep in the bushes. One is reminded again of nature and its beauty. Ryan and team went out of their way for us.
Great spot. No reason for any complaints. We felt very welcome.
Friendly staff and a enjoyable stay! Really enjoyed it. It is peaceful, quiet, and clean. Had no problems during our stay. Definitely would go back and would recommend it.
Accommodation was comfortable, but take drinking water with you, as taps are fed from the river, and are not recommended for human consumption.
We were very warmly welcomed and really enjoyed the stay, unfortunately we could only stay 1 night, but Mackers will see us again for sure.
It is an excellent place.
We could check in whenever we wanted. Directions to place were very clear. Place was clean and tidy.
Would have preferred that there would at least be TV reception. No contact from owners except a phone call. Would expect one to be forewarned to bring own water. Otherwise, very well appointed, private, very quiet from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ideal place to switch off properly.
Many potholes on the road. But will always return.
The accommodation was comfortable but deep down in the valley near the river. There was no WiFi and no cell phone signal, so not possible to call restaurants in the area unless you drive/walk to the main road. We were also not told ahead of time that we could not use the water from the taps, water supply directly from the Sabie River, and then had to drive back to town to buy bottled water.
The stay was nice and we had a good time. However, there are a few things that could use attention that weren't right. I list it briefly: Fan in living room not working. Fan in main room cord very unsafe! Light in the main room plug does not wake up nicely. Showerhead sprays in all directions and definitely needs attention. There were dirty wet towels in room with two single beds behind the door. The dishes such as pans are already a bit old. The road is very steep down to the cottage which feels a bit dangerous. Despite everything that was wrong, we still had a great stay and would stay there again.
Unit is well equipped. Pool and river a bit far from accommodation. Walking routes would be welcome and better directions to pool and river.
We weren't welcomed by reception - our room number was just written on a sign, the door was open and we could just walk in. We were not told in advance that there would be no lighters to make a fire - we were not told in advance that one could not drink the water from the taps, that one would have to buy water. The numbers left to call no one answered. So no, I wouldn't recommend the place for people to stay, it's down in the mountains, if you have to drive to buy things it's a long way from town and amenities.
The place has a lot of potential. Unfortunately it was very dirty. The shower made me cringe. No coffee and the sugar was scarce and rock hard.
I would recommend Mackers. We enjoyed our stay and the customer service was amazing. It is close to activities which makes things easier. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return for more good memories!
Would definitely recommend Mackers, the place is peaceful, beautiful view and the rooms catered to our needs. Mavis the lady that welcomed us made us feel at home plus there was always hot water. The river is beautiful and this place is nature at its best! Real value for money.
If you want to get out of the city and relax, I would definitely recommend Mackers.
A bit difficult to find, but a wonderful place to stay. Safe, quiet, well equipped. Can let yourself in, that was perfect. Strongly recommend it.
Mackers was very calm and quiet. The river in the background while grilling a piece of meat is just what you're looking for away from the city's noise. Unit was neat and clean.
Had a great stay, nothing was a problem, was very safe, very nice for a group of friends who want to relax, visit and catch up. Had good service. Thanks for a nice weekend.
We had a great stay, everything was clean and tidy and impressive.
No TV and poor cell phone reception. Nice and quiet and can just switch off.
Nice and quiet. Will definitely stay there again.
We rested well. The place is located in beautiful scenery. Very quiet and peaceful.
The tent camp was very neat and well equipped. The ablution facilities are also very neat and clean. Owners, Ryan and Michelle, were very friendly and helpful. It was wonderful to stay like this on the banks of the Sabie River and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. Would definitely want to go again. It was unforgettable!
Stay was very nice, just would have liked a power point at the tent.
I would suggest that the branches of the trees by the cottages be cut. It was very difficult to sleep those 2 nights with the branches that kept scratching. It would be a good idea when guests stay for more than one night that somebody checks up on them to make sure that everything is alright.
Very beautiful and peaceful, very neat rooms. No-one came to receive us, just a phone call to confirm the room number. The braai wasn't clean and the ashtray on the table was full.
We had a great stay, good value for money. Beautiful and peaceful. Unit not detached and facing each other, but we didn't have neighbors so it didn't bother. Road style but in very good condition, easy to drive by vehicle. Unit was well equipped.
The place was amazing with a beautiful view of nature and bird life.
4 consecutive days no power. Hot water came and went. Lost a lot of meat, fish and other foods. Eskom is blamed, but the main house has power.
Ryan and Michelle made us feel very much at home! Everything was very neat and it's really value for money! The Honesty Shop is the best thing ever!
Quiet and has a very nice view from the campsite.
Wat 'n lekker plek. Alles was skoon en netjies en die tente wat so langs die rivier is, is kos vir jou siel. Ons beplan alreeds ons volgende verblyf. Die mense en die plek is awesome!
We were so impressed by the tranquility of the accommodation. We departed with heavy hearts. The interest that the owner and his wife's showed and their friendliness was appreciated, since there aren't many who offer customers this these days. My husband and I score Macker River Bend 180 out of 100!
Camped on bank of river, blissful and peaceful! Full camp, no noise. Ablution clean and tidy. Owners very involved and helpful.
We enjoyed it a lot. The people were also very friendly and helpful.
Definitely my favourite accommodation out of all of the places we stayed at during our 2 week road trip through South Africa. The unit is beautiful with comfortable furniture and it is equipped with everything that you need. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They even have paramedics on stand by for guests if there are any incidents. We really enjoyed our time there and I have already recommended the place. I am definitely spending a week here on my next holiday. They are exceptional.
Will definitely go back if they can supply electricity.
Was a wonderful getaway, well-equipped little house, tranquil atmosphere and stunning nature!
Camp area is very neat and definitely worthy of a stay.
Will visit again anytime, close to Hazyview and ideal for day visitors to the Kruger Park. Just a shame that there's no electricity at the camp and safari tents - so no fridge!
If you want to relax and break away from the City, this is most definitely the place to visit. All our expectations were met. Well worth the money.
Very nice, very nice, short lights in tents. Short new mattresses.
Very neat, a bit remote, but nice and relaxing.
Peaceful, beautiful area. The hose is clean and neat. We enjoyed it a lot.
The little house was very cosy and neat. Had everything we needed. Those who hiked were dead tired, but enjoyed it.
Was very nice. Was just not always comfortable with the safety, but otherwise excellent. The owner's house has an electric fence and there is an alarm in the cottage, but the cars are parked outside at your own risk.
The accommodation was clean and tidy and we were received by Mavis who was very friendly. However, would like to see owner as there is no contact or cell signal. Don't feel safe there.
We enjoyed our accommodation very much. The units are well-equipped with everything you need. Ryan went out of his way to make sure everything is in order and that we had everything we needed. The area is relaxed and quiet, and you can totally relax. If you don't get too lazy there are beautiful walking trails that you can follow. While we were there we had a medical emergency and Ryan even helped us with this - Mackers provides paramedic services to guests free of charge! I could just call the emergency number and trained paramedics were quickly there to help us. They also arranged an ambulance and accompanied us to Nelspruit untill we got to where the ambulance waited for us at the side of the road. Ryan also tended to us personally when he became aware of the situation and made sure the unit was locked securely and when we returned in the early hours I immediately got an SMS from him to hear what the problem was and if everything was OK - a sign that he cares about his guests' well-being. We will definitely call again.
Neat, peaceful and very safe.
It was one incredible time. Nice view and close enough to all attractions. Als was perfect. Thank you very much for an amazing time.

We have an Honesty Shop with basic requirements i.e. water, wood, charcoal, ice, etc. You are welcome to get your shopping done here and settle your bill on departure. The road leading up to the establishment is a 2 track paved road. In the rainy season, it can get tricky for bikers and we suggest you call before arrival to check on road conditions.
