Beautiful surroundings, incredibly peaceful. Very private. Jacuzzi is a hit. We stayed in Flintstone cottage and the view is breathtaking. House is not luxurious but meets everything you need. Was regularly visited by squirrels, badgers and a cute, perky vole. If you want to get away from it all this is definitely the place for you.
We were kindly received and our accommodation was clean, tidy and well equipped. The view is breathtaking and the stars at night are an experience. The silence is wonderful with only the sounds of nature around you.

Beautiful place with the small garden in which my dachshund could move around safely. A must for people looking for peace and quiet without goats. It is clean, cutely laid out and has all the basics needed. The jacuzzi with the lid is brilliant because sausage's child is blind.

If you crave the forest and silence, this is just the place for you. One could say that the silence here is loud. It was an incredible getaway.
Flintstone Cottage is uniquely and beautifully situated between rocks with an incredible view over the forest. We had fun walking around and driving, we saw the giraffes, zebras, blue wildebeest, kudus and impalas. Will go again for sure.
A nice woodland holiday with lots of wildlife that we could see while driving around the property. The Jacuzzi has the most beautiful view, we could have a great barbecue with a wine and the view to enjoy. Once again a nice LekkeSlaap break.
Exactly what we needed! Huisie has just enough for a weekend getaway, we didn't need anything more. I will be able to stay there for a week without missing luxuries. Wife and children really enjoyed the jacuzzi. Silence, you don't know about the people in the other houses.

Madikela is definitely a place where you can rest and enjoy the silence of the forest. The game lodge is very nice and tidy. We saw a giraffe right in front of our porch. The lodge has everything one needs - could only do with extra lights during load shedding. Maybe some solar lights outside the farm and one in the house. There was a small light inside which didn't help. Could also do with a stronger light at the braai area. The games room does have a pool table but the table is very damaged and the pool sticks are broken, balls are mixed and no triangle. Maybe consider bringing in more stuff to keep teenagers busy. Also be aware that there is no shop nearby - so take everything you will need with you.

What is advertised is what you get. Just replace please. the refrigerator in Sandstone cottage. Freezer gets cold, fridge doesn't get cold.
Comfortable accommodation in the beautiful woodland. Surrounded by very friendly badgers, squirrels, lizards, kudus, impalas, blue wildebeest and zebras. When was the last time you had the privilege of enjoying the sunrise from your bed with a nice hot cup of coffee in hand. We were fortunate to see 13 species of birds with most at the bird bath on our front porch. The Jacuzzi was an absolute winner. If you are looking for tranquility for your mind and wonderful times with your loved one, this is the place for you. We will definitely stop by again.
Stayed in Sandstone, beautiful view and really enjoyed the hot tub on the porch. A peaceful atmosphere and very private. If you like calm, peaceful woodland with a book this is the place.
Peaceful and quiet in the bush. Good privacy as units are not too close together. The kids especially enjoyed the jacuzzi, pool and putt putt. We would stay there again.
It was a little difficult not having an oven but Carol was very accommodating by saying we could use the one in the lapa.
Shower cubicle with hand shower as a head. Took forever to wash the soap away as there is no water pressure. Worker just came in unannounced, to clean the pool and braai on our last day. Gas bottle was empty even though reception was helpful. Overall stay was good, place very neat.

We stayed at Greystone Cottage, small but cozy for 2 people. The jacuzzi/splash pool was nice and warm, just as advertised and shown in the pictures. The only thing I would recommend is that they upgrade the utensils in the unit as they are flimsy and of poor quality, and there is also no sharp knife to cut tomatoes, etc. Other than that, it's a great place and offers good value for money. Oh, and make sure you bring everything you need as the nearest shop is in Vaalwater.
Tiny rooms and bed. Poor quality kitchen utensils. Plastic furniture. Could definitely do with an upgrade. Only one lantern for loadshedding. Not far off the main road. Private and quiet. Lovely big pool in the main area. Nice reserve to walk around.

Quiet weekend in the woods with family and our dogs. Could swim well. Solar heated Jaccuzi at each unit is a bonus. Units are not directly next to each other - giving lots of privacy. Could drive myself and go game watching. Several places where you can have a picnic. Friendly reception and good communication.

Almost no cell phone reception definitely contributes to this. Unit has everything needed, only food needs to be brought. Service was top quality from start to finish. In the Waterberg Biosphere lies a small piece of jewel. Madikela Private Game Reserve you were good to us. Here you can rest well and rediscover your humanity, refresh your soul in the unspoilt natural beauty. The Panoramic view from Sandstone Chalet's veranda is breathtaking.

Fantastic quiet bushveld getaway on a private game reserve. The secluded chalet (Sandstone) offers a fantastic view perched on top of a granite outcrop, complete with all creature comforts required. Really enjoyed our stay and will return.
Attention to detail is superb. We felt right at home as soon as we stepped in. The view from this Sandstone unit is breathtaking and the sunrise over the woodland is beautiful. Furthermore, the unit is very well equipped with everything you need for your stay. Would recommend to any visitor looking to switch off from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Sandstone Cottage is a luxurious, tidy unit where the owners have taken into account the comfort and privacy of the guests. The deck in front of the unit has a panoramic view of the Waterberge and there is ample opportunity to discover the farm. We will definitely visit again.
The reserve is small, but very well kept and the accommodation is very well presented and neat. The early morning walks provide the opportunity to see the giraffe, zebra and wildebeest, and if really lucky the kudu and bat eared foxes.
We were pleasantly surprised, the website photos of Madikela Game lodge does not do this gem any justice at all, it was beautiful, clean, well equipped and absolutely tranquil. We highly recommend Madikela will make a point of visiting again.
Sandstone unit offers a very nice view over the woodland. Bird life and sounds are very exciting.
The house was nice, the pool and road need attention. The rest was all good. Would just like to make a suggestion to put a screen door in at the back door, because if you leave it open, bugs come in. But it was nice.

Everything is and was perfect.
It was nice to take our little dog along for a walk. The Jaccuzi was a winner among the children. The house was nicely furnished and far enough from the other houses.
Great place for a getaway and not too far from other cities. Equipment sufficient and friendly reception. For those who still want to watch DStv in the evenings, feel free to bring your pocket router, because there was reception at my unit, Kingfisher. I would love to visit Madikela again.

I rated safety low. With all the murders on farms, it's a bit worrying that there are no burglar bars or security doors to keep you safe when you sleep. So alone there in the forest one felt quite a bit vulnerable. But... would I go there again? Yes, I will go to Kingfisher again and hope for the best, because it was very nice! I just hope that safety gets a little better in the meantime. Maybe we're just Bang Jan from the city, but we can't get the thought out of our heads.
Relaxing breakaway from the rat race we facing in the city. Kids loved the bush veld and wildlife which were so close to our place. Owners can just work on the necessary essentials for the outdoor braai.
It was a very nice getaway. We were only disappointed in the fact that one did not see many of Madikela's animals. They were very well hidden and camouflaged, but very nice and quiet and the Jacuzzi is a winner.
Friendly, peaceful, beautiful scenery. But, based on the ad, I expected more.
Only problem is that there is no aircon or a fan in the unit. The dining room light also cannot switch off and it disrupts the sleep in the room next door. Safety door on the entrance door should be considered.
Chalet has no dam view as promised. Staring against trees. Mattress slept on bed cavities. No top sheet. Carpets dirty and full of stains. Boiler wire poorly welded. No tongs. Owner brings another kettle and tongs. Knives, forks and spoons are handled dirty and are not a set. Seating inside chalet is white plastic chairs and table. No comfortable seating inside. Day 2, toilet flushes. They pump the sewage behind the chalet in the field (oh yes, at least they covered the pump-out cell with a layer of soil). We went home a day early. Sorry, but I'm definitely not going to recommend you.
It was a great getaway to relax and unwind. The silence and nature around you is truly something special. We will definitely be back for another visit.

It's a very nice place to relax with your partner and spend some quality time. It's very peaceful, little wildlife on the farm. But the house is very nice, neat and nicely equipped. We had a great stay and will definitely visit again.
We saw a lot of animals. The water bowl for the birds right on the patio is a great idea as we have seen so many bird species. The privacy is what we really needed. And finally, the view from the Jacuzzi is one of the reasons we will definitely go back.

I have to admit, we were thoroughly spoilt by the views, the environment and the privacy. I would like to say that a little more attention to detail to the cleanliness will make it top class.
The check in lady could be more friendly but then again didn't have to deal with here again after checking in, otherwise the units are exceptional and well maintained, perfect place for breaking away from the city.
We enjoyed our stay and will go back again in the future. All the basic kitchen necessities are there, but we are of the opinion that the quality of the kitchenware could be improved. Our unit (Nightjar) has e.g. had no steak knives and the number of coffee cups does not reflect the number of guests who can sleep there. We also feel that an additional ceiling fan covering the kitchen and master bedroom would be a valuable addition. We also want to suggest that Madikela's management invest in a commercial type ice machine because the freezer compartment is a bit on the small side which makes it a bit difficult to store ice.

Madikela Game lodge is the type of place that you do not want leave. Great private accommodation that is well equipped. One is surrounded by nature at its best.
The Madikela Lodge's accommodation is extremely neat and clean. It's so much better than the photos on their website or any of the other websites. The game reserve is quiet and peaceful, with beautiful woodland scenery!
Madikela, Sandstone is n baie rustige plek, baie diere gesien met wildritte, die plek is awesome binne, niks kort gekom. Nice view, al nadeel was Jacuzzi wou nie werk nie, en moes uit my tas lewe, sal net aanbeveel vir 'n kas om darem ordentlik uit te pak.
We stayed 4 nights in the Bushwillow Cottage. The facilities outside the cottage are excellent. We spent 90% of our time on the wooden deck and in the Jacuzzi. The cottage itself was clean and well equipped. The bathroom was beautiful, but the rest of the unit felt tired and cramped. The white plastic table and chairs in the dining/TV room were very uncomfortable. We also really enjoyed the communal pool although the changing rooms are not cleaned regularly.
Very disappointed with the interior of the chalet, especially the shower and rooms very small.
We stayed in Sandstone and what a great experience. It rained all weekend, but it didn't bother us. It's a lovely canopy on the wooden porch and the view is absolutely stunning. The Jacuzzi was very nice and warm so we could light a fire, Jacuzzi and hang out all in one while the rain poured down. There are an incredible number of birds and the birdsong was beautiful, as well as owls at sunset. We heard lions roaring in the distance in the evening which made it more special. The unit was very neat and had everything we needed. The dirt road was very easy, even if you don't have a 4x4. The units are very private and I would definitely recommend Sandstorm. We will definitely go back and visit Madikela again and next time we want to try Flinstone. You will not be disappointed.

Reception was not very friendly, but the workers who came to clean were very friendly. Good location - relatively close to Pretoria. Lovely scenery, especially birds.
We went for 4 nights and enjoyed the bush walks and privacy of the units. It was great to have your own little pool and private boma. The fact that this venue is pet friendly is a huge bonus. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Accommodation at Madikela Game Lodge comprises 8 chalets, which sleep 2 to 5 persons. These cottages consist of either 1 or 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a living area with a well-equipped kitchen to prepare and cook meals in. Each cottage features a solar heated Jacuzzi, a boma with braai facilities, and a thatched deck area for game viewing.
The lodge also offers a large swimming pool with a baby pool, a jungle gym, a games room with a pool table, and an 18-hole putt-putt course. A large thatch lapa with a bar area, dining room and well-equipped industrial kitchen that is suitable for self-catering functions,wedding parties etc is available to book as well.
Small, well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. There are walking trails where one can see giraffe, zebra, kudu, wildebeest, waterbuck and bushbuck, impala, and other game species on the farm.
