The cottage can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 en-suite bedrooms, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The main bedroom contains a queen-size bed, and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. There are both bath and shower facilities in the cottage.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a 2-plate electric stove with mini-oven, a gas 2-plate cooker, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, microwave, and cutlery and crockery. The dining area has seating space for 4 people, while the lounge has a comfy sofa and chairs. The lounge area opens onto the veranda which is equipped with a table, chairs, loungers and portable braai.
The veranda is also the ideal spot to spend your days, reading a good book, relaxing and admiring the spectacular mountain views. A private gated entrance and parking is included. A fire pit is available for cosy evenings around a fire.
On this working farm, you will find free-range hens as they wander around looking for tasty things to eat. Children who visit the farm have the opportunity to help with egg collecting and the feeding of hens. There is a short distance from the cottage to the river for those who wish to explore a little.
For those more adventurous, fishing in the river is offered in the form of a 'catch and release basis only. A pair of African Fish Eagles are sometimes heard calling along the river and you might be lucky enough to spot them. If you're into cycling, then bring your bikes along as there are plenty of farm roads to cycle on. If you don't feel like cooking, then choose from many of the restaurants in the region or seek out a pub to taste some local craft beer.
There are several beehives on the farm and the bees produce honey from pollen and nectar gathered in the valley. The honey is extracted here on the farm and is not processed, heated or treated in any way at all. It is raw, natural honey spun off the combs, filtered and bottled. Sometimes we are fortunate to be able to harvest honeycomb from their hives too. Both bottled honey and the rare honeycomb harvest are for sale direct from the resident beekeeper.
On the farm, we also produce a seasonal variety of bottled jams, marmalades, relishes, chutneys, Italian-style sundried tomatoes as well as preserved eggplant all for sale direct from the farm.

79 guests' feedbackVery peaceful atmosphere and comfortable cottage. The location is perfect for activities in the area. The cottage is well equipped and we were very comfortable and warm despite a cold front. The hostess was very nice and helpful. We would love to stay there again.
We slept great. Owner was very friendly. Plekkie is particularly beautiful, neat and very peaceful.
Beautiful view. Cute place to stay with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The place is very neat, tidy, and clean. One of the best equipped places I have stayed at. The host is friendly and leaves you to have a nice private stay.
Very clean, tidy and very well equipped.
Friendly hostess and peaceful, well-appointed getaway spot.
Not the first time we have stayed at Magalies Mountain View Cottage. Always a great stay and very peaceful.
Our stay was great. The place is wonderfully situated and Carol was amazing in ensuring great hospitality and an all-round great stay. We loved the fire pit under the stars!
One of my most favourite weekend getaways with the most amazing hosts! I highly recommend Magalies Mountain View Cottage.
If you want to relax on your own, this is the perfect place.
The solitude. The view. Just what a busy urbanite family needed to get away from business, from studying, from screentime, and remember that there's another (better) world out there.
See stars.
We had a great time. The place was very nice and tidy. The person who received us was initially a bit unfriendly because we arrived there at 13:40 and not 14:00, but otherwise we had no problems.
The accomodation itself was ok and met our needs. However, the large amount of insects that managed to make its way indoors after dark was off putting. We managed to reduce the number of insects that came into the cottage by stuffing the gaps in the doors with toilet paper. We have stayed in MANY rural accomodations before but have never come across this kind of insect invasion after dark. Not sure if this is just what happens in this area.
Was very nice. Very very quiet and clean and tidy. Will definitely suggest it.
The wide porch provided for lovely visits and the distant view over the Magalies. The place is well equipped and we never felt like we lacked anything.
It's a beautiful cottage with everything you need for a long weekend or even longer. The cottage was very nice and clean, and the separate bathrooms were a winner. Carol is very friendly and helpful.
Lovely place to stay, had everything we needed! Extremely peaceful and a quick drive! Great with friends! We will be back.
The ideal breakaway if you desire the stillness of a farm, without technological distractions, and the beauty of the mountains to greet you in the morning. The cottage has everything you need and is really homely and beautiful. Close to venues that offer fun activities for the family.
My first time in the cottage. It is incredibly beautiful, very clean and everything you need is in the cottage. Literally everything. Lovely porch, with doors that open onto the porch from every room. Lovely place, very tidy. Will definitely go back there again! Sue, don't stay away too long, it was an honor to meet you. It won't be the last time!
It was our 3rd visit and the time there never disappoints. Highly recommended!
Magalies Mountain View will see us again for sure! Neat, large, stylish and well-equipped accommodation puts you at ease immediately. Everything and more is missing here. The host is extremely pleasant and accommodating when we wanted to check in a little earlier. The view over the mountains is beyond expectation! Here you can absolutely rest!
Every thing was perfect except that the farm does not have coverage plus there was no TV, other than that we enjoyed our stay and Carol is so friendly.
Sue is amazing and kids loved following her around, feeding the chickens. She was so patient and always had lots of interesting facts to share with the kids.
Great as usual.
Very neat cottage that is very well furnished. Lovely big lawn in front of unit for the children to play. Sue is lovely, very hospitable and helpful. We had a great time and will definitely go again. 10 out of 10 for that one.
We enjoyed the stay, even though it is Winter and the world is grey and empty. Would love to see what it looks like in spring/summer! The house is equipped with everything one needs and is very comfortable. The house/stoep has a very nice view of the Magaliesberg. We had a nice short walk down to the river and we enjoyed the chats with Sue a lot! The kids loved the animals (dogs, cats and chickens) We also enjoyed the campfire! We will definitely be back in Spring!
It was really a very cute cottage. It's very comfortable with all the luxuries of your own home. Plenty of space to sit at a table and play games or relax. Friendly reception. Will definitely go again.
What a pleasant weekend away, would gladly recommend and revisit this gem. We had such a great time.
We had a wonderful relaxing weekend. The facility was clean and Sue went the extra mile to provide from a fan to heater, warm water bottles, firewood, matches etc.
Owner is very hospitable, she goes an extra mile for her guests.
Very calm. Friendly service. Has everything and more you can think of.
Well-appointed cottage with everything you need but no TV ( which was fine with us). Lovely verandah to sit and watch the chickens, dogs, and wild birds. We had a very relaxing stay and would definitely go there again. Absolute peace and quiet.
The location is fantastic and so is the cottage. Our kids had a great time riding their bikes whilst my wife and I were blessed with long empty roads surrounded by mountains, ideal for running. The chickens and dogs just made it perfect.
The hospitality and surroundings make it perfect for a weekend getaway!
We really enjoyed the short time. The attention to the little things is excellent!
We had a very nice weekend and our children really enjoyed the space and nature (also the chickens and dogs!). Thank you so much, Carol and Sue.
Beautiful view. Friendly hostess. Made a lot of effort for us. The beds were comfortable, the little apartment tidy and it's clean and very comfortably furnished - even braai wood and charcoal provided, like a container of milk in the fridge.
Mountain View Cottage exceeded all our expectations. The place is comfortably furnished, very neat and clean, with everything we needed. Sue's hospitality was second to none and her knowledge of the area helped us a lot to visit the maximum places during our stay. We enjoyed the 3 days there tremendously. Didn't know there was so much natural beauty in Gauteng. We will definitely return for many more visits.
A well thought out cottage that offers complete relaxation; you want for nothing. It is a real gem. Sue and Carol are wonderful hosts, along with the chickens and dogs. We'll see you again!
Sien sterre.
Charming place and lovely, attentive hosting.
An amazing gem, beautiful wood house, perfect for a weekend escape from the city. Very clean. If you want to have down time without TV or WiFi, this is the place for you. The kids cycled, helped feed the chickens and collect eggs and a nice walk to the river. Super helpful and friendly owners. We will definitely be back in the summer.
Lovely getaway with a typical farm atmosphere. Private and quiet - only wanted to stay longer!
Super skoon en netjies met kwaliteit toerusting. Als was daar; van 'n teepot met teesiffie tot charcoal en blitz. Baie goeie versameling broeke om te lees. Genoeg inligting oor omgewing. Gawe gasvrou. Pragtige henne! Oulike cottage.
The cottage is well equipped and clean. The perfect place to rest.
Can definitely recommend the place for a quiet weekend away. Nice view of the Magaliesberg.
See rating.
A cute, cozy house that offers clean and comfortable accommodation in a peaceful environment. We are very satisfied! Would stay there again anytime.
Very nice time with friends. Would love to go back there next time. People were extremely helpful and everything was really neat and clean. Quiet environment.
We can recommend Mountain View Cottage with confidence. We are extremely critical people, but could not find any fault with the stay. It is central and fully equipped with a breathtaking view. Sue and Carol are warm people who immediately make you feel at home. A bonus was the second bathroom! We will definitely book again.
The cottage is just stunning, clean, peaceful and so self-contained, everything you need is within your reach. The host is just so helpful and available to assist with any queries or helpful suggestions. Our stay was perfect and we would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a truly laid back and peaceful experience.
Everything was perfect!
We spent a weekend at Magalies Mountain View Cottage while doing some mountain biking in the Magalies-area. The cottage is neat, have all you need, and is situated in quiet surroundings that makes the stay even more relaxing and enjoyable. Our hosts were super friendly. Will definitely recommend and stay there again!
Our accommodation at Magalies Mountain View Cottage was an unforgettable experience. It was a lovely getaway close to a lot of attractions.
Second visit and will definitely be back. Beautiful view and cottage. Thank you Sue!
Sue and Carol are very friendly and make you feel so welcome. Really had a lovely weekend and will definitely book there again.
Sue is an excellent hostess. She goes out of her way to ensure that everything is in place and that your comfort is ensured. For a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this is an excellent destination. It's a bit far from things to do in the area, especially given that we had a gluten allergy in the group, and general restaurants and breweries therefore don't cater for it.
We had a great stay, Sue made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed the place and surroundings, especially the animals. The accommodation was private and had the necessary facilities. If I could make a suggestion, I would make the sofas and chairs in the living room more comfortable, especially because there is no TV, you want to be able to sit or lie on the sofas if you want to read a book or just hang out and chat.
The beautiful cottage exceeded our expectations. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts and our son thoroughly enjoyed collecting the eggs every day. My husband even caught fish in the Magalies River.
Perfect location and accommodation.Thank you, Sue and family.
Wonderful accommodation, best equipped cottage! Very friendly reception, lovely peaceful place for a weekend getaway, if you just need to recharge. Stunning area.
As a family of three, we decided to go away for the weekend after all, and as luck would have it, Magalies Mountain View Cottage was available! We were handled right from the blocks to the finish line as friends. No task was too small or too big! The accommodation was fantastic, with everything you could need and more! Sue couldn't do enough, and at Easter there was a special basket made for my boy, with goodies and handmade paper bunnies for the big hunt! I was truly sorry to leave, but with the wonderful people we befriended there, we will definitely be enjoying a glass of red wine again as the sun goes down. Thanks Sue! (Thanks Carol, Janine, Pat, and Elena too!)
Will stay there again anytime.
The house is beautiful, neat, clean and more than prepared to receive guests. There are board games for adults, puzzles and other entertainment for kids and a library with very good books. Thank you to those amazing ladies.
The cottage with two rooms and two bathrooms is perfect for a lovely break - we could sit on the veranda for a week and enjoy the view of the Magaliesberge. The cottage is very well furnished, with everything you need, plus extra. Sue is very hospitable and spoiled us with delicious soup and a home-baked sandwich which we enjoyed on the veranda. We had a great time relaxing and really enjoyed our visit to the nearby Cradle of Humankind Museum. We definitely recommend Magalies Mountain View Cottage!
Magalies Mountain View is a place to stay , as clean as a new pin, very quite and peaceful, we enjoyed ourselves. We will be back soon. Thank you, Sue for everything, You are the best!
Will recommend it to anyone who wants to overnight and just relax. You'll have to go explore the area for entertainment.
The unit was clean, tidy and well equipped. The farm atmosphere with chickens and dogs walking around makes it an unique experience within an hours drive from Johannesburg. We often make use of self-service accommodation and can definitely recommend this.
Beautiful place, lovely, well equipped cottage with spectacular view of the Magaliesberg. A birder's paradise with friendly and welcoming hosts and delicious eggs from happy hens to take home. Far exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
On our arrival there was a pot of soup and a homemade loaf of bread waiting, as well as a liter of milk in the fridge and ice in the freezer! The cottage was neat, very clean and well equipped. Next time we'll leave our towels and blankets at home! Sue, our host was very friendly and helpful, and I will definitely recommend this to everyone I know!
Everything was perfect. Was only there for two nights and it felt like a week.
The cottage is equipped with everything a family of 4 needs for an unbelievable time. The host has amazing knowledge of the area and she was very helpful. We will definitely book this place again and also recommend it. Our child had a ball with the farm animals and even fetched some eggs from the chicken run.
A stunning place to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Away from technology, which makes you spend quality time with your spouse or family.
It is a beautiful place, very neat and equipped with everything you can think of. Can definitely recommend it.
Sue (owner) was very helpful and friendly. If you need peace and quiet this is just the place to go. The mountains, nature and stars in the evening were beautiful.
Thoroughly loved the peace and quiet, and that the hosts are not intrusive.
Sue and Carol made us feel very welcome and shared a lot of knowledge of the area and activities with us. Will definitely come and visit again. Thank you very much.
Beautiful view and a lot to do in the area. Magalies Mountain View Cottage is very neat and Sue was friendly and had a lot of knowledge about the area. It was calm and there is a lot to do in the area. Will definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to leave the noisy city behind.
