The Magalies Mountain View Cottage is located just off the tarred R560 and gravel R401 in Hekpoort. Gorgeous Magaliesberg mountain views await you from the verandah of this charming timber-framed cottage. Listen out for the early morning bird song or the "whoosh" of the hot air balloon as it passes overhead.

The cottage can accommodate up to 4 guests and comprises 2 en-suite bedrooms, and an open-plan kitchen and living area. The main bedroom contains a queen-size bed, and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. There are both bath and shower facilities in the cottage.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a 2-plate electric stove with mini-oven, a gas 2-plate cooker, fridge-freezer, toaster, kettle, microwave, and cutlery and crockery. The dining area has seating space for 4 people, while the lounge has a comfy sofa and chairs. The lounge area opens onto the veranda which is equipped with a table, chairs, loungers and portable braai.

The veranda is also the ideal spot to spend your days, reading a good book, relaxing and admiring the spectacular mountain views. A private gated entrance and parking is included. A fire pit is available for cosy evenings around a fire.

On this working farm, you will find free-range hens as they wander around looking for tasty things to eat. Children who visit the farm have the opportunity to help with egg collecting and the feeding of hens. There is a short distance from the cottage to the river for those who wish to explore a little.

For those more adventurous, fishing in the river is offered in the form of a 'catch and release basis only. A pair of African Fish Eagles are sometimes heard calling along the river and you might be lucky enough to spot them. If you're into cycling, then bring your bikes along as there are plenty of farm roads to cycle on. If you don't feel like cooking, then choose from many of the restaurants in the region or seek out a pub to taste some local craft beer.

There are several beehives on the farm and the bees produce honey from pollen and nectar gathered in the valley. The honey is extracted here on the farm and is not processed, heated or treated in any way at all. It is raw, natural honey spun off the combs, filtered and bottled. Sometimes we are fortunate to be able to harvest honeycomb from their hives too. Both bottled honey and the rare honeycomb harvest are for sale direct from the resident beekeeper.

On the farm, we also produce a seasonal variety of bottled jams, marmalades, relishes, chutneys, Italian-style sundried tomatoes as well as preserved eggplant all for sale direct from the farm.
