My stay at the venue was fantastic.
It was ideal to stay at the hospital. When we checked in and they heard I had to check in at the hospital, they moved us to the guest house across the hospital. Truly a caring service.
Actually just slept there, but it was nice. Was my 2nd time now.
Aircon but no remote. No water pressure in shower. Fan provided broken and rattled. Noisy next door neighbours. Noisy dogs next door. Staff not quiet in reception. No outside area to maybe sit and read while waiting to go somewhere. Bed linen old.
Their system is oiled! And the staff is friendly and helpful. Very well located. Pleasant experience. I will use it again in the future.

My husband could not sleep on one of the beds as the mattress sagged too much, we swopped and I managed to sleep well. As we have experienced with other BnBs, some owners could think of replacing bedding more regularly.

The mosquitoes were everywhere, even in the shower curtain. Too hot to close the windows and during loadshedding, no electricity for fans.
Friendly and hospitable people who work there. There wasn't one battery light that burned dimly all the time, but otherwise there was everything we needed for a night's accommodation.
We enjoyed the stay very much.
We were there for a graduation ceremony. At first only my wife and two sons would remain there - my daughter could also attend and I booked an extra room (only a double-bed room was available at the time) - my daughter and one son had a landed a late flight and only got to Stellenbosch late (after 23:00) by Uber. On arrival we were informed that the last booked room would be in another house - which we were not informed about in advance! To avoid that my daughter would not be alone in the other house and that the Uber would have to find two places, my wife and I decided to spend the night there. What a disaster! The room was neat but tiny (my wife had to get in from my side, as there was no space between the bed and the wall on her side). We also had to steam the clothes and the graduation gown in the cramped space for the next day. The room was easily less than half the size (and was also more expensive) than the double bed room in Magnolia Place. The bathroom was also extremely cramped and the wall to the room next door appears to be extremely thin and not soundproof - we could hear the person next door talking business on their phone! In Magnolia Place itself, it was also strange that facilities (such as the fridge, for example) were shared with other guests. Would recommend as an overnight stay, but not for much longer.
I stayed for one night and the place was pleasant, quiet, clean and central. Has everything one would need for a short or longish stay. The staff was kind and helpful. A generator helped with the loadshedding. Will stay there again.
Accommodation was good, parking a problem.
Room 1 is not particularly pleasant in that it is right by the front door and reception. People walk right by the toilet window (even though there is frosted glass, it's not pleasant) and you can clearly hear all conversations at reception (and wonder if visitors can hear us talking). The shower door cannot be fully closed. The WiFi in the room is very weak, actually unusable. There is too little parking and we heard early morning conversations and struggles from someone who was parked. Tip: The separately sealed tea bags are very cute; it would be even better if there was an indication of the type of tea in each one. It's also convenient that a box of milk was provided, but it was a bit difficult to open without scissors or something similar. But Beartjie's biscuit is delicious! The net effect is that I expected a bit more for R800 worth of accommodation.
The front door was difficult to lock at night which results in guests slamming the door repeatedly at midnight hours on both nights of our stay. Very little emergency lightning during load shedding. Light bulbs missing in room and bathroom. Switches missing on floor standing fan. Photos are shown good representation but if you look closely it is old and needs maintenance and upgrade.
It was a lovely stay, except for loadshedding which is not the place's fault, we really enjoyed it.
Overall good, but: I don't like to post negative comments at all, but there were a few things that bothered me: Communication - Whatsapp is not answered. Difficulty getting in initially. Nobody answers. Even when we were in we had to wait. Unit was not very clean. Windows rattle with the wind - can't close properly. Other than that very good - I see some of the people have complained about similar things.
They were able to reschedule my stay when my hospital visit was rescheduled. The person at reception showed us several rooms as options. The room's heater was broken. There was also a fault with the one light. Internet quality is only so-so.
We would have liked to know in advance if we had to book for breakfast. We thought it was included.
Had to share entrance with other occupants. Boxes stored in hanging cabinets. Smells of dust and no facilities to wash cups or plates. TV programs not interesting or enjoyable to watch on a tiny TV screen.
You see a picture and you book, then you are sent to another house with keys.

Parking was a big problem. Our room was at the reception. It felt very uncomfortable when my bedroom was opened by my husband and people standing in reception saw me in my pyjamas. People came to collect furniture to clean during our stay. The room where our children stayed did not smell or look fresh and clean.
Coffee cups in the room were dirty. Shower leaked terribly. No towel rail or soap holders.

Real value for money and no complaints. I would recommend the host put in an extractor fan for the kitchen stove as you sometimes smell the food in certain areas when other guest use the cooking facilities (its not major).

Paul the caretaker received us and deserves a thumbs up for his thoughtfulness and helpfulness.
Just a few points. No Christian TV channels and no Bibles. Fridge should be defrosted, there was a weird cracking noise every so often which could not be detected where it came from maybe the fridge or something in the cupboard. Basin plug needs replacing, does not hold water. Need TV channel selections.
I will definitely go back again.

Magnolia Place is the perfect place to stay when needing to be close to Rhenish Girls' High (and other schools). Our room was all we needed and suprisingly warm despite the chilly weather.

The one bedroom apartment is too small for 4 adults for whom it offers sleeping space but can also sit outside. The 2 sofa beds are extremely uncomfortable. Bathroom very cramped. 3 plates for 4 people, 1 red wine glass, 1 white wine glass and 1 champagne glass. Duvet covers should have been replaced. Would rather advertise it for 2 persons.
My stay was pleasant and peaceful as there is also a garden with tables where guests can relax. There is a communal self-catering kitchen as part of the facilities. A big advantage is that a shopping center is within walking distance where a grocery store, pharmacy and fast food can be found.
The room didn't have towels and the linen looks about 20 years old. This really can be replaced. Otherwise, the standard was to be expected.

It is difficult to book in. We booked in on two separate nights during our trip. Both times it was difficult to alert the reception desk that we were waiting at the gate to be let in. There is an intercom/bell, but you have to phone the help number to get someone to open up for you. The room we were assigned was on different premises, so the remote didn't work at the reception gate. The receptionist opened the gate as we stepped out of reception, which then automatically closed before we could start the car. Then the whole cycle of phoning to get the gate open began again. Just be warned, the mosquitoes are a pain.
Magnolia Place Stellenbosch Guest House is perhaps good for a one-night stay but not for longer.

Very neat place. Parking is a bit of a problem, you can easily get stuck. The place was very neat and clean. The walls are a bit thin and you can hear the neighbors and they can wake you up snoring but you can't do anything about it and you can't change the place. It should only be mentioned that certain places have a bathtub shower. But overall a nice place to spend the night. The porridge and biscuits are a plus point.

Would have liked a bit more privacy from other guests - rooms are very close together, share kitchen areas. Was able to use braai facilities and they had no problem with our children visiting with us that night.

Our third visit to Magnolia Place and once again a winner. Definitely value for money. The small kitchen area with coffee, tea, biscuits and porridge is a bonus. Unfortunately the parking is a problem and we were stuck parking the morning of departure.
My only complaint would be that it was very noisy. My room was in the front right behind reception. The noise of cars parking and guests coming and going and holding loud conversations made sleep difficult.

Upon arrival we were welcomed by the host. Had no problems with the check-in process. For the price you can't expect much more, we checked in late, and basically just needed a place to sleep for the night. The place was neat and clean.
The parking is a problem. There is too little parking for the amount of rooms they occupy. We were almost parked the morning we had to leave early. The bathroom curtain is not sufficient. Other guests can "see" you when you use the bathroom. The WiFi didn't work either. We and other guests struggled with it. The room we used (Room 1) is not very private. The rest of the stay was pleasant.
After waiting 90 minutes for the staff to finish cleaning the room, we eventually were allowed to relax after a long journey. The rest of the stay was fine. Better TV channels would have been nice for the evenings.
Rooms were neat and clean. Self catering kitchen a plus. For older guests, stairs can be a problem - quite steep and high (especially when moving with luggage). Would like an air conditioner in room as it is very stuffy and hot in room.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay from the time we were booked in until we left. The staff was friendly and so helpful. We enjoyed the braai facilities and our secluded courtyard. The fact that the house is walking distance from the mall was a bonus. We will definitely go back.

Suggestion is to mark parking spaces with room numbers and mark lines on the ground. There was not enough parking for everyone because some of the guests were crooked and standing across two parking spaces.

We have used the guest house twice or so in the past. Our visits were very pleasant and peaceful each time. The room is still neat and clean. Beautiful and peaceful environment. However, we were very disappointed this time for the following reasons: 22:00 visitors from the person in the room next to us knocked loudly on our door and simply tried to open the door, at least 3 times. We were already in bed trying to sleep. From the same room next door there was a loud chatter. I am there for a peaceful night's rest in a peaceful area. After a phone call, at least someone came out and came to talk, but it didn't help much. According to guest house rules posted at reception, guests are not really allowed to receive visitors in their rooms and it sounded to us as if the guest in question had quite a few visitors late at night. The next morning when we wanted to check out and leave we were stuck and no one in sight at the reception desk to assist us. Even called the number on the website a few times and rang the bell with no answer. After quite a while, the people who stuck us in the parking lot left and we were finally able to get out.
I booked a room with its own bathroom and it wasn't like that. Full amount was paid in advance, but on arrival my reservation was registered in another person's name.
First move to other location. Apparently advertised unit was full. Wanted to book for breakfast but was told they were already full for breakfast. Could not find invoice; still waiting until today. TV didn't work, they had to call someone in to get it going. WiFi did not work at all, was told that room in back of house could not pick up WiFi. Shower didn't work. There was no plug in the sink. Worst of all, drunken loud people were partying there all night. I called for someone to help, but it didn't happen. We drove thousands of kilometers to visit the Oak City and this was my daughter's first experience. Neither she nor I will easily go to Stellenbosch again! Definitely would not recommend Magnolia.
I have stayed here before and find it very convenient to serve as a base. As before, the room was perfect and I was kindly received. It's very close to Stellies' CBD area and it's central to the winelands or if you have someone at Mediclinic.

I was generally happy with the accommodation. The only thing I would say is it would have been nice to know upfront that my accommodation was in what was called an annex and not Magnolia Place as advertised. I was rushed for time so it was a little bit inconvenient. That aside, the room was clean, I liked the secure off-street parking, and the staff who I had contact with were friendly and helpful. If I am in the area again I will definitely use it again.

The friendly and helpful reception from Paul on our arrival was exceptional as we arrived late at 20h30. The fact that we were catered for right across from the hospital made it possible to walk for visiting times. It was very convenient. The place is very secured and good for family. We felt like we're home. Is near shopping complex and the beach. Mall. We enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff.
The shower had very poor drainage.

This is a good guest house and value for money. It is in a quiet and tidy street. It is very well maintained and with very good service. Calm, helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. It is striking how well equipped the guest house is. It is about two or so kilometers from the town center and even though Strandweg is busy, the traffic flowed quite well during peak hours. We will stay there again.

The small self-catering unit is ideal for a 1-2 night stay. Close enough to offices and the Stellenbosch town area.
Everything you need for a night or two's sleepover. Everything was neat and clean, the service was friendly and helpful. Air conditioning would have helped a lot with the heat! Will definitely use the accommodation again.

Good facilities, just a shame the room didn't have an air conditioner in the heat of January. Shower door is just wobbly and has tendencies to fall off.

The room was neat, but the aircon and TV didn't have any remote control, so we couldn't switch them on. The TV wasn't the worst, but it was extremely hot, so we would have liked to use the aircon. Furthermore there was no coffee to make when we woke up, only tea, but we prefer drinking coffee first thing in the morning. We didn't have anything to eat or drink before leaving.
Great location, neat and affordable.
I will not use Magnolia again unless air conditioning is installed. Place was clean and tidy and staff friendly and helpful. The shared kitchen invades privacy and would prefer a private kitchen. The guest house was full on Saturday night and there was insufficient parking.
Pleasant experience. Tidy. Well located for parents visiting or dropping off students. Close to shopping centre, very safe and friendly reception.
Everyone is busy cleaning very early and busy with day tasks from 6:30. The garden is water sprayed right in front of my window. My room was right at the back which was nice and private, but such a narrow entrance that I couldn't walk past with my suitcase and hand luggage: first one and then another. This after a long day on the road. Your rooms are comfortably furnished and everything was clean and essential.
Very happy about the fans in the room. All facilities sufficient. No reception at home, but at Magnolia originally.

Still awaiting the reply if breakfast was included or not - no milk in the room so no coffee or tea could be enjoyed. Was awoken at 5.30 in the morning by another guest knocking on the windows requesting to be let out the main gate as they "locked" their keys in and could't get out at the main gate.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Magnolia Place's Saffraan street venue. The place is well situated for the traveler, but not in the buzz of city noise. The staff knows how to make you feel welcome and was very accommodating of us cycling guys requesting extension of departure time in order to shower after the race. The rooms are adequate with enough utensils and equipment to facilitate a relaxing stay. I will definitely return and have already recommended Magnolia Place to friends and associates.
Good value for money in an excellent neighborhood in Stellenbosch. Will definitely stop by there again.

The service was friendly.
The annex where I stayed was very comfortable, the reception friendly and I, as a single, older woman, felt safe.
Nice, tidy accommodation in a very quiet area. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely come again.
The communal kitchen/s were uncomfortable in terms of noise and privacy. Privacy in regards to the bathrooms where people just sat and smoked under the stalls was also curtailed. If we were to decide not to use Magnolia again, it would be because of the points mentioned.

Lovely spacious rooms. Only needs a tub to bathe small children and babies. We will definitely stay there again.
The shower curtain above the bath kept falling down and then the whole bathroom was under water.
However, it was "hidden" at the very back of the yard. No kitchen or washing up facilities.
