The Cottage is comfortably furnished for 4, the main bedroom has a double bed, while the second room contains 2 single beds. The 2 rooms share the use of a bathroom with a shower. Heaters, a hairdryer and a hair straightener is provided. The cottage is also equipped with a 2-plate stove and oven, a microwave, as well as a fridge. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, milk and rusks provided.
There is also a separate hut next to the cottage. It is warmly and stylishly furnished. It sleeps 2 guests sharing. It is equipped with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. The bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. This unique hut offers privacy but also integrates with the cottage in terms of kitchen facilities.
Braai facilities, as well as wood, is available for guests to use. Children are welcome, and the play area is sure to keep them entertained while the parents relax.
Special arrangements can also be made for couples on a romantic breakaway or honeymoon and can consist of a picnic on the mountain, roses/flowers or sparkling wine; all at an additional cost. Available if arranged 1 week in advance.

A very friendly hostess makes you feel very welcome and is always ready to help with advice about the area or if you need something. Thank you very much for the nice stay. Just for future guests, the best way from Johannesburg is the N3 until 10km before Harrismith, where you take the R722 and drive through Verkykerskop. The GPS shows other roads (such as R34 and R103) to take from the N3, but there are an awful lot of potholes and parts where there is basically no road - recommend SUV or bakkie if anyone wants to drive that way.
The residence was very clean. Nice barbecue place.

It was such a treat! With delicious luxuries such as an electric blanket on each bed, a hot water bag and heater for the Free State cold and the indispensable hairdryer! The reception was warm and friendly and the service was impeccable.
Wonderful hosts, fantastic setting on a working and picturesque farm. Took a long walk up into the mountains behind the farmhouse with a wonderful view. Had sundowners near the farm gate with the most spectacular sunset. Marizelle and Jan thank you for sharing your wonderful little bit of Africa with us.
A lovely spot for a peaceful getaway, so quiet with beautiful fresh air and water. The hosts are very friendly and helpful and made us feel totally at home.
Maybe a small patio at the front door. Arrived when it was raining and was not pleasant unloading car. We plan on staying over again to explore the surrounding area.

Very clean sandstone cottage on the farmer's farm. Nice braai facilities under a large umbrella akker tree. Very friendly people who made us feel very much at home. You are welcome to stay here on the farm.
The cottage is very comfortable with good quality bedding. There are two bedrooms next to each other, one double and one with two single beds (more suitable for a couple with children than for 2 couples, although it is possible, but remember the 1 bathroom). The bathroom is basic (shower, toilet and sink). Nice living room with fridge and small stove (2 plates and oven). There is no sink - dishes are taken to the house's kitchen for washing. Nice braai area under a large oak tree - but not sheltered from rain. Dirt road from either Memel's side (27 km or 22 km from the Vrede-Memel tar road shortcut "over the mountain") or Verkykerskop (11 km dirt road, 8 km tar road). Road is passable by sedan, but van or SUV recommended - especially if it's raining. Even on the site it can be difficult to get to the cottage or get out if it rains - although one can safely stop at another place on the site and walk to the cottage (just behind the main house). Nature lovers who like tranquility (and dogs) will really enjoy it. A shed under which you can braai in the rain with a sink would make it perfect (and a shower head that gives more water - especially in winter if you want to warm up before you go to bed!).
I will most certainly return. Very peaceful and beautiful area. Great people.
Great farming area to explore by mountain bike while getting fit. Limited self catering facilities, however maid servicing compensated making for a good stay in a nice setting. We enjoyed our stay.
