12 guests' feedbackBeautiful home with stylish modern touches. Work of many local artists on the walls. Very well kitted. Lovely garden. Dams create a wetland with huge variety of birds. Great getaway with teens (DStv + Wi-Fi) and furry friends. Road from Jhb was good - advise taking N4, then R540 from Belfast through Dullstroom to Lydenburg. Leaves you with 8 km of dirt (district) road in reasonable condition and ~4 km of R36 (potholes) to Manzi Mhlope. We will be back!
Beautiful old farmhouse with nice big yard for children to play. The tranquility is fantastic. There was even a TV and DStv to be able to watch the rugby. Ice machine was always full. The road and trucks to get there are the only negative point, but even that wouldn't stop me from going again.
Road there is rough, but the place is awesome.
The stay was nice. The house is well equipped. It looks like there is a new oven, I haven't been able to figure out how the settings work exactly. The braai area could do with more lighting. Domestic help is definitely a bonus.
We had a kickboxing tournament in Lydenburg. Location of accommodation is only 15 min away. All that is bad is that the R36 road is horrible because they are currently redoing the road. I really hope the road doesn't affect Manzi Mhlope badly because it really is a beautiful place. Redone like new, lots of space and tidy. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area again.
It was a wonderful rest weekend. The old farmhouse with the thick walls stays cool despite the heat outside. The kitchen is modern and the rest of the house has an exquisite finish with nice furniture and paintings. The road from Lydenburg is very bad with many potholes and the entrance to the farm is steep as the big trucks have trampled the soil along the side of the tar. This is the only negative of the entire weekend.
Will definitely recommend. For the price you won't find better. Everything was neat, beautiful and clean. The only negative point is the road out to the farm. But would risk it again and stay there!
This was well worth the price. The place is beautiful inside and out. There were monkeys, the garden was beautiful, the bedding was spotless, everything about Manzi Mhlope was worth the trip. We will definitely visit there again!
Had a wonderful time with my family visiting at Manzi Mhlope. Would definitely recommend it to anyone. While the kitchen was my mother's favourite place, the garden was mine.
Manzi Mhlope is excellent value for money for a larger group. All the beds are single which suited us well and the house is well equipped. There is also a delicious braai area. Sara is an angel and she comes to clean several times a day. There is good cell phone signal and data outside the house and in the dining room, but the thick walls impede reception elsewhere in the house. On the first day there the power was off between 12 and 6 pm. According to Sara, this happens daily, but we were not there to experience it. However, I must warn future visitors about the poor condition of the R36 along which the house is located. It is probably the worst road I have ever driven on, full of trucks and definitely not to be ventured after dark. The dirt road from Dullstroom's side is much better and quite passable.
Manzi Mhlope has the most beautiful garden and the farmhouse has been stylishly restored with a beautiful kitchen and new bathrooms. We had a great time in front of the fireplace when it rained and also had a nice barbecue by the fire pit while watching the stars. Everything is nice and clean and the service is excellent. In South Africa we are all afraid to stay on a farm, but the owner has made an effort with safety. The entrance is a bit hidden, but with good instructions you will soon get there. Lydenburg and Dullstroom are really close if you want to drive around. Would love to go again as it really is value for money!
It's a lovely, peaceful environment. The cellphone signal is reasonable, but weak enough for teens to seek out other ways of entertainment - thank you very much!
