Hubby really enjoyed the outside shower which is completely private. Gardens are beautiful and the lookout point was a great way to start/end the day with lots of animals at the watering holes. We got to see many animals and even spent some time with two beautiful white rhinos. You can hear the lions and hyenas at night through the absolute silence. If peace and rest is what you are looking for, this is the place to get it.
Beautiful place, very neat and clean. Had a lovely stay.
Beautiful location just by the waterhole. Managed to see a variety of animals and birds just sitting on the verandah. Had a stunning time.
The chalet was very neat and clean, staff were friendly and helpful, and the setting was very peaceful. Thank you. We really enjoyed our stay.
Our stay was absolutely amazing with excellent service.
Lived here during son's rugby tour. Close enough to Camp Discovery. Was surprised with a clean and tidy house. Peaceful and quiet environment in the forest. Mattress and pillows - fantastic!
We stayed in "Hook and Stitch" cottage. The house is situated against the boundary wire and overlooks a waterhole. An elephant walked right by the wire one night. You have a view of the field all the time. The house is comfortably equipped and the air conditioning was a big plus with the intense heat. Also went to cool off in their pool near reception. Debbie and Talent provided excellent service.
Had a nice stay, just need to check for a kettle, that one is on.
Hubby and I stayed at Marulani Bush Lodge for the long weekend. After reading so many positive reviews, we had high expectations and were very disappointed. The accommodation itself was as expected from the photos, and the bed was very comfortable. The major disappointment was the lack of service and hospitality from the owners/hosts. I received a message from Debbie in the morning with a location and when we arrived we were checked in by Talent. I had sent Debbie a message to book a game drive, to which I received no response. I subsequently sent a message to the phone number on the pamphlet in the chalet that the pamphlet says to contact to book a game drive and after not receiving a response by Saturday, I phoned the number only to get "this number no longer exists". The hosts were nowhere to be seen, I am unsure if they were away for the long weekend but if so then guests should be advised of this and given alternative places to book game drives if they are not being offered by Marulani on specific dates. The reception area was also locked and the curtains closed for the entire weekend. Another issue that we noticed was the fire extinguisher that was outside the accommodation. My hubby, out of curiosity, was looking at the fire extinguisher, only to see it was in the red, meaning it would be useless if there were to be a fire. Overall the accommodation itself was good, but the lack of hospitality and response from the owners is the reason we will not be going back to Marulani.
Nice clean place. Quietly grilled on the platter in the evenings that was cleaned daily. 5 nights under the roof on the stoep that entertained us. Couldn't swim, pool grass green. Hot water faucet in the bathroom (sink) did not work. Remote control of air cooling did not work. Very helpful when the power went out and also kept me up to date with the directions and check in at the Lodge.
Great for relaxing by a woodland fire with horned birds and night sounds of hyenas.
I don't have enough words to describe the place. It was an incredibly nice break, the staff is incredibly friendly. The location is perfect and it is incredibly peaceful. Marulani will see me again for sure.
I treated my daughter and her UK partner (unfortunately, my son and his UK partner were unable to join us) to a few days in Dinokeng. The time frame prevented a trip to KNP. What an experience, and all thanks to Riaan and Debbie from Marulani Bush Lodge. Our accommodation at Marulani Bush Lodge was lovely; the lodge is ideally located in the game reserve, but the highlight for us were the personal game drives with Riaan. Riaan turned each game drive (one early morning and one late afternoon/evening) into an African adventure, with his vast knowledge of the bushveld, its ecology, and the resident fauna and flora found in the various ecosystems. Debbie provided snacks and we celebrated supper with rhinos! We will definitely be back, and I can highly recommend Marulani Bush Lodge for your next South African game drive holiday.
We all agree, it was incredibly fun. We are very impressed with the place and would definitely recommend it. You don't always get to see everything on your wish list, but when there was a lion sighting, they let us know immediately and sent a pin so we could go and see. We really appreciated it.
Kurkbos room offers self-contained and comfortable accommodation for 2 in a 'rustic' studio setting. The room is located against a boundary wire, with a forest view where we could often see zebras, blue wildebeest and goats. We could even invite friends to join us for a delicious forest barbecue. It's a little hidden diamond that won't break your bank balance. Very well appointed with smart cleaning services. Full WiFi was available with no load shedding over the weekend! We were also very close to Camp Discovery, which was a bonus for us as parents.
Lovely quiet lodge. Talent was friendly and helpful and even gave us her phone number for any emergencies outside of office hours. The free WiFi and air conditioning was a winner during the heat wave we are currently experiencing. My daughter felt so safe that she could run in the lodge. We felt really safe with the security fence.
It was a nice peaceful environment. We stayed in Kierieklapper which was neat, but the place needs some attention. Bath's edge needs some silicon, cracked tiles, cracked toilet, ceiling needs paint, but nothing stopped us from having a nice visit. Riaan with the "game drive" was fantastic. We enjoyed it very much.
Beautiful view. Very well furnished, with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
Very nice stay. The day bed is fantastic and one can really relax.
Cottage was well equipped, aircon saved us on the very hot days/nights. Beds and couches not very comfortable, so we used the veranda a lot. Loved having a swallows' nest under the veranda roof. Well-established area, very accessible to the game viewing areas. Perfect to escape the city and malls and relax in the bush. Take anti-mozzi candles and lotion.
Marulani Bush Lodge is very tidy and service is fantastic.
Really enjoyed our room as it was right in front of the watering hole. Place was very clean and comfortable, the aircon was such a plus because it gets really hot. Also the game drive was fantastic and guide was great.
Unfortunately we had to change cottages due to a burst water pipe.
The game drive was the best. Kuli, the guy, knows his way around the bushes. The picnic set-up impressed me. Aunty Debby made sure we felt at home. Kuli made sure we enjoyed our game drive even though it was cold. Because of their warm welcome, we did not feel the breeze out there.
We had a fantastic weekend. The Kurkbos cottage is completely private, very neat and clean. Peaceful forest atmosphere and good service.
If you want a bush experience and not far from home (if you are in Gauteng) this is really a place to unwind, start a fire and enjoy. Only thing I'll say is. maybe have a covered braai for the rain in the summer and just double check the WiFi (if you need it) Over all we enjoyed our stay.
Marulani is now one of our favorite places in Dinokeng. It is a stone's throw from Pretoria and easily accessible from the tarmac with a 1.3 km dirt road that is also passable for ordinary sedans. We stayed in Hak-en-Steek which directly overlooks a small pond where we saw goats, a fox and various bird species from the veranda. The unit is a spacious, open plan chalet with a fully equipped kitchen. The cleanliness of the unit was remarkable with not even a cobweb in sight. The unit is transparent and very uniquely decorated. The bathroom with its unique, large shower and more than enough hot water is separate from the toilet and outside there is a wooden enclosed shower where you can view the woodland while taking a hot shower. Coenie and Valdette made the game drive a wonderful adventure with nice hot drinks at a lovely riverside picnic spot. Valdette arranged a spa treatment for us on our unit's porch and the traveling spa ladies, Patricia and Pearl, were on time and very professional. There was just too little time to walk the paths too, but definitely next time.
We were at the Haak en Steek unit which overlooks the waterhole, and the animals in the morning and evening were just amazing. Will definitely recommend and will visit again soon.
Value for money. I would recommend the game drives. Amazing places and animals seen. Guide was amazing. Fit in with group. Located near the city, but the tranquility of nature. Will do it more times over a weekend. Road food for your soul. Owners' hospitality of the highest quality.
It's a great place if you want to get away from the city. The place is very beautiful, quiet and tidy. The game drive is definitely worth it. I will go back again soon!
My little boy just wants us to move because he wants to stay.
Everything you need is available in the unit. Nice place to get away with my wife. The guide doing the game drive knew where all the animals were. Worth paying the extra money as you are guaranteed to see more game.
Marulani is one of the better affordable lodges in the area, wildlife relatively active around camp, we will definitely go again. Disappointed with distribution of wildlife in reserve, some areas have little or no wildlife and could be better managed. Would also be nice to meet management, didn't see any management or staff after arrival to find out if everything is ok, but will definitely book there again.
Old world beautiful decor, here you let your hair down and walk barefoot.
Seen a lot of wildlife.
Nice small, overview and well maintained place.
Staff very helpful with services. The chalet is very well equipped.
We really enjoyed staying at Marulani for the weekend. We stayed in "Hak en Steek" and the cottage was very clean and well equipped. The cottage has a wonderful porch that overlooks the waterhole and is even next to the lookout point where many animals came to drink water. We can recommend it to anyone who wants to switch off and enjoy a weekend in the woods!
The unit was clean and tidy. Nice private, could just relax and be peaceful. Unfortunately it rained pretty much the whole time, and couldn't do the game drive, maybe next time.
It would be nice to see an active approach to recycling at Marulani though. I suggest that Marulani makes it possible for visitors to separate wet and dry waste, thus promoting recycling and recirculation.
Mould is growing on the silicone in the bath tub. WiFi is not working. Airconditioner is not working.
The game drive was fantastic. Coenie knows what he is talking about and we were so lucky to see the leopards.
Quiet and private, just what we needed after a crazy year. We will definitely come back again.
We needed more time for game drives. Would prefer more kid-friendly activities. The pool wasn't available.
Ongelooflike lekker plek! Sal my definitief weer sien!
Honestly just the best service. We went for my boyfriend's birthday and they did so much to make us feel welcome. Lovely couple who run the lodge and so friendly. Will definitely be back.
The forest shower in the open air was 1 highlight. The game drive is a definite recommendation with Coenie, great fun and so interesting! Of course also the rhinos and all the other animals were a big plus! Thank you very much for the friendly service and absolute wow experience for everything! Our 20 year wedding anniversary will be cherished forever at Marulani.
Had the house at the waterhole with plenty animals coming in to drink. Very tidy setup.
Marulani Bush Lodge's Hak en Steek cottage's location is perfect, the cottage is nice and tidy, you couldn't ask for more for a nice getaway.
The house is clean and tidy and the kitchen has everything you need. Nice braai area. Nice vantage point on the animals. Will go again.
We really enjoyed it and it was definitely worth the money.
We stayed in Kurkbos. Very cute house. Nice private and nice decor. Outdoor shower is a winner. Was a very hot weekend but the air conditioner made the house nice and cool. The gardens around the cottages and at reception are beautiful. Our reception was very friendly and staff very helpful. Was our first visit to Dinokeng and would definitely recommend it and also Marulani. Thanks to our game drive guide, Coenie, for all the interesting information.
We had a great time at Marulani Bush Lodge, will definitely go again.
The chalet was very well furnished (although there is no TV, but that's okay). The outdoor shower is lovely and I would recommend it! The game drive in the late afternoon is a must - we saw and learned a lot from the guide.
Neat and tidy accomodation in a great location.
It was an incredible experience to see animals at the water hole. Game drive was fantastic. The place is definitely recommendable.
Our hosts were super friendly and welcoming - helped us organise some great game drives and couldn't have done more to ensure we had a great time in Dinokeng!
Had a great time and the place was very well laid out. Thank you very much for everyone's kindness! What are the chances that a manger of water can also be built next to Kurkbos so that the animals can also visit us? Could the WiFi be beefed up? We had no WiFi the time we were there.
Thank you very much for a peaceful and quiet forest experience. The accommodation was very clean and tidy. It was wonderful to watch the giraffe so close to the porch. The game drive with Coenie is definitely a highlight too.
A wonderful escape from the city.
Marulani Bush Lodge met our needs for a nice weekend in Dinokeng.
Would be nice if they sold ice and had a step inside the unique splash pool.
We could relax peacefully in the forest. Accommodation clean and tidy.
It is indeed in a larger reserve, but there are too many places to stay and too many roads for the area's size. Game was very scarce, and we did not even see one of the Big Five, with no indication that they could be present, in other words no fog or anything like that to be seen. One could constantly hear the traffic of the main road that runs through the reserve in the background. Not as secluded as one would like. We were a bit disappointed that we didn't look out on any little pond or anything - just a fence with field behind it. The cottage was very clean when we arrived, but the bathroom had mildew and the bath was very small and uncomfortable, as well as the shower over the bath was uncomfortable to use. Furthermore, the woodland was very beautiful and we saw and heard a lot of birds.
More game must be attracted to the hide. No animals seen in 3 hours. Advise guests to take fruit and seed for birds. Wild ride was 4/10. Couldn't take any good photos from moving vehicle.
The place was very neat. The outside shower is a big plus if I could complain about anything it would be about the bed. It's rock hard and sleeps very uncomfortable. Other than that we had a nice stay.
Marulani Bush offers pleasant and comfortable accommodation in a natural environment. It's quiet, and although not luxurious, it's neat. Close to most attractions. All criticism is that Marulani could at least have provided hand washing soap in the unit.
The accommodation is beautiful, neat and clean. Unfortunately, that's where it ends. Unfortunately, I cannot honestly comment on hospitality because it was non-existent. They can go and learn from their neighbors what it means.
Private and cuddly. Respond very quickly to any request.
Was very kindly received. Plekkie is really very nice and tidy.
Owners are very friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Coenie is an awesome guide.
The service was great and the rooms well maintained. The cottages are far apart which provides privacy. Marulani is well located to explore most of Dinokeng. We really enjoyed it and will definitely stay there again.
Lovely forest getaway, only half an hour from Pretoria. Peace and quiet, beautiful house (Kierieklapper), extremely clean and tidy with everything you need. We also went on an enjoyable game drive with the owner, and his knowledge and passion for conservation of Dinokeng was impressive. Took thousands of photos of wildlife and birds - would definitely go again!
Game drive was the best ever! Much learned.
Had an unforgettable time. Debbie and staff were so helpful and put in so much effort. Definitely want to go again.
Very easy to get there, well located and the hosts will go out of their way to accommodate you.
The place is really neat. The layout of the house is not to my taste. The pool is really just a splash pool and was green when we arrived.
Clean, functional units with good braai facilities. Nice place to walk and hide to sit by. Game viewing drive is excellent!
The cottage we stayed in is right on the game reserve fence with a water hole 30 to 40 yards away. We did not have to move to see a fair amount of game within 30 yards of us. From our verandah we saw elephant, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, duiker, warthog, ostrich, eland and impala. Also lots of birds. We had a great stay.
Good location and particularly neat and clean. Good place to rest.
A very special place to relax quietly right next to the game fence. The water hole is right in front of Haak en Steek and we could sit quietly on the stoep and watch the wildlife coming to drink water. The chalet is beautifully clean and well equipped. Would definitely recommend Marulani.
Clean, comfortable, beautiful birds and night sounds, friendly staff (very few), good directions, adequate equipment for self catering (sharp knives would be great). Will be visiting again. Thank you
The people were very helpful. We did not experience any problems. Bring your family and friends along for a peaceful bush experience.
There just few things that could be improved. When arrived we were greeted by the lady at reception but after that saw nobody else, except the lady to clean. It would have been nice if someone just came round asked if everything was ok and told us a bit about the lodge. The fridge was way too small for a weekend load of food for 2 and a few drinks. The swimming pool was not much of a pool and was green. The game drive was late to fetch us (although we did get a SMS) but a friendly phone call would have been a lot better. The driver drove rather fast on occasions and it felt a bit unsafe at times.
No money appears to have been refunded by the lodge, but a gift card was offered. I am really outraged that such an option is even acceptable because they received money. If a trip does not take place, money must be paid back to the customer. Writing from the lodge is now if I don't want to use the gift card, I get my money back! This is blatant theft! Before the weekend, messages from Valdette informed me that only 3 rides were available, regardless of what was advertised on the website. Friday afternoon 16:00, Saturday morning at 06:00. Out of necessity, I then decided on Friday afternoon at 16:00, because the trip so early on Saturday morning was not suitable for us. I believe that it is the guests' choice first. It then rained Friday afternoon. On Saturday morning, Valdette called me and asked if we wanted to go at 12h:0, which then made me agree. A quarter to 12 when we arrived at the reception, it started to rain again. We were then called and told that no further trips would take place due to forecast of rain. Later that evening I got another message about a trip that was arranged for 06:00 the next morning, to which I said no thank you. However, it rained all night until we left. I emailed them, and asked that my money be refunded, to which I received a letter from the gift card, with a message that no money is payable. My husband has been working abroad for months, and I can only see that it will not be possible to use the gift voucher due to his work, and judging from the conversations with Valdette, the lodge is not accessible for the guests' arrangements of trips. In the morning, on a drive of our own, we encountered the bakkie of the Lodge with only 3 people on it, and not 4 as advertised. But I am extremely disappointed in the attitude of the place to take money for something they did not deliver, and that they do not want to pay the money back. I would definitely not recommend them to any person.
We had a lovely time at Marulani Bush Lodge, stayed in Maroela. Place was big enough for 4 adults and 1 child. Very neat. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Perfect getaway.
Rested well and enjoyed the most delicious dishes.
Thanks for an amazing experience. We listened to the forest sounds at night on the veranda, appreciated the fully equipped accommodation right by the game fence with everything we needed, threw some meat on the fire and enjoyed an informative game drive over the weekend. We will be back for sure! Thank you, Debbie, Riaan, Coenie and Valdette.
My wife Joey's birthday treat was just the right place. Saw so many animals, even 3 meters from us. Blue wildebeest, kudus, zebras, impalas and giraffes were plentiful and tame. Very neat and excellent service. Will go there again in the new year.
The pool would have come in handy in the heat of the weekend. Thank goodness for the outdoor showers.
Debbie and Riaan made my daughter's engagement extremely special. Thanks so much. We recommend Marulani for a wonderful time in the bush and the game drive with Riaan was also great.
What a nice place. It's a birdwatching paradise and a wildlife sanctuary. We saw three lions a stone's throw away. Friendly service. Thank you, Riaan and Debbie.
Would recommend Marulani Bush Lodge, very peaceful and tidy.
If you like pretty, the entrance just off the (short) dust road already makes you feel good about your choice. Inside, it only gets better with an unexpected artistic character being created. The Maroela cottage is perfect for families of 4, 5 or 6 with everything you need for self-catering in a bushveld atmosphere. Riaan and Debbie are special hosts who make you feel not only at home, but also comfortable and relaxed. Professional. Capable. Cordially. Useless. Walk (drive) the extra mile(s). A definitely see-you-again experience.
Really enjoyed our stay at Marulani Bush lodge. The game drive was very informative and we, as bird lovers, got a change to see beautiful birds and got first hand info from our guide.
Riaan and Debbie go out of their way for their guests. Not only are they extremely hospitable and considerate, but also very capable of wildlife. The lodge has lots of character and one feels at home right away. Marulani's field trips and hiking tours are of a better quality and more comprehensive than we have experienced in world famous "safari lodges" over the past 15 years.
We were treated like kings since our arrival until we left. Die accommodation is well equipped and everything you need for self-catering is there. The lay-out of Marulani makes everyone's stay unique, seeing that you feel like you're just in nature. The quietness, peace and view are unbelievable.
It was very nice with Debbie and Riaan who were particularly helpful and enjoy forest life. Ceiling fans may be replaced with air conditioning. Thoroughly enjoyed the forest weekend. Thank you Debbie and Riaan.
Marulani was a real find, so close to Pretoria and beautiful surroundings, especially after all the wonderful rain lately! The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and they make you feel at home as soon as you arrive! We will definitely be back soon!
We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. Having the big "stoep" with the private view of the game park made us feel like we were the only ones there and the animals can come so close. It was so quiet and peaceful, we all feel re-invigorated and so relaxed and rested.
I would highly recommend Marulani Bush Lodge to anyone looking for a quick weekend break. We stayed in Hak & Steek, will recommend this unit to couples looking for some privacy. The unit overlooks a waterhole and the zebras are keen visitors. Unit was very clean and neat on our arrival, Debbie and her team are friendly hosts and make you feel truly welcome. We'll definitely be back.
What a wonderful weekend we had. My mother of 91 came with us and Riaan went out of his way to accommodate her on two game drives. Thank you for your patience and general concern while caring for us all. We will definitely be back.
Had a lovely three nights at Marulani. Debbie and Riaan are very warm and welcoming and we could not have asked for more. The units are spotless, comfortable and just what we were looking for. Loved it and can't wait to go back.
Best hosts in Dinokeng. Accommodation clean, tidy and tasteful. Atmosphere relaxed and peaceful with anticipation for the next animal to come and drink. Thanks for a wonderful weekend.
Marulani is close, and before you are tired of driving, you are there. It feels like visiting family. And then one lives in the moment for the next two days. You don't think about what happened yesterday, nor what tomorrow's trouble will be. All that matters is the moment: the hornbills that are holding a concert around the house; the lions that greet the day; the roebuck trying to keep their family together. And when you hit the road home again, your soul is at peace, and you see opportunity for what comes your way. Thank you for an unbeatable weekend.
Wonderful family break . Relaxing enviroment
Absence of the host/wife was evident.
Debbie and Riaan's hospitality was exceptional. Debbie checked daily that everything was in order and even lent us a deck of cards and Jenga as we forgot our sense at home. The game drive with Riaan was fantastic, we saw 6 cheetahs that caught a blue wildebeest. Riaan told us about Dinokeng as well as his experience in the forest and all the animals and birds. Our unit (Kierieklapper) is beautifully situated close to the wire and we saw many zebras and goats. It was truly a very nice break and we would definitely recommend Marulani to anyone.
This was a really beautifully decorated lodge with the most amazing view of the bush. The lodge had everything we required and the game drives were awesome. Overall it was an amazing experience! Riaan and Debbie made us feel so welcome and went the extra mile for us! We will definitely go back!
At Marulani Bush Lodge you can just relax and enjoy the quiet and tranquility. Debbie and Riaan have a passion for nature and likes to share their experiences with their guests. You feel special at Marulani Bush Lodge. The cottages each have their own character and the outside showers are a bonus. The game drive is a must - we enjoyed it! We will definitely relax and enjoy nature at Marulani Bush Lodge again.
I just want to say a thousand thanks to Oom Riaan and his wife who really went out of their way to make our weekend unforgettable. The perfect location (Hook and Stitch house) opposite the water hole, with unforgettable game drives where we learned so much until the breakfast and romantic picnic. Uncle and aunt went out of their way to make it so special for us. Your love for the forest is felt throughout and my fiancé and I are truly grateful. The chalet had been painstakingly tidy, the customer service top notch and the little things were top class. I recommend anyone who wants a break from technology, in the middle of the woods, to come and stay here. Exceeded all our expectations. Thank you uncle Riaan and uncle's wife.
A very nice place to be. The kitchen is fully equipped, the hospitality is excellent. Thanks Derbbie and Riaan for going the extra mile. Me and my husband are planning 2 come back soon. The game drive was perfect.
The minute we arrived at Marulani Bush Lodge Riaan was there to welcome us. He told us to shout if there was anything we needed. It immediately felt more like we were staying with family and not at a lodge. We enjoyed the accommodation and the whole weekend. On Saturday Riaan took us on a game viewing and showed us everything in his time and went out of his way to find the rhinos. Afterwards, Riaan invited us to barbecue with him at the guest lodge. I can highly recommend a weekend with Riaan and Debbie, warm people who make you feel very welcome. Thank you again, we had a great time and will definitely visit again.
The owners of Marulani Bush Lodge, Debbie and Riaan, are 2 wonderful people who make you feel like family. Their hospitality and willingness to go the extra mile for their guests is exceptional. Their place is comfortable, clean and tidy. The silence of the Bushveld and the tranquility of their lodge is heaven on earth. I would recommend their place to any person who would like to experience nature in all its splendor.
We had a friendly reception from Riaan and Debbie upon arrival. The location of Marulani and the area offered us the quiet that we were looking for for a weekend getaway. The bird life and the animal sounds when the bush wakes up was wonderful. Will definitely stay there again.
Very nice place with nice people.
Atmosphere out of the books. Unity has everything you need. Close to nature.
It was really beautiful!
Had a fabulous weekend at Marulani Bush Lodge with family and will definitely be back soon. The cottage was so clean and has everything you need. Riaan and Debbie are simply wonderful hosts and thank you for sharing your bush stories and knowledge. See you again very soon.
We had a great time. The cottage is well furnished and overlooks the forest. We could hear nocturnal animals well. Owners are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again!
Very neat and hospitable lodge where we relaxed. It's ideal for a getaway from the busy city life and offers enough privacy. The units are well equipped, the decor is original and the people are friendly. Will definitely go back.
We really enjoyed Marulani. The braai in the bush was the highlight. Very good value for money and we would recommend it to anyone.
We had an awesome weekend at a beautiful lodge. Debbie and Riaan made us feel like old friends. We will go again when we get the opportunity.
The host and lady are very friendly and pleasant. Stay can be pulled by ring.
If a little bush break and great hospitality is your idea of bliss you cannot go wrong with Marulani Bush Lodge. The accommodation and facilities is great and comfortable, bird life in abundance, bush braai awesome and hospitality of Debbie and Riaan amazing. A game drive with Riaan and Debbie is a must, their knowledge of the history of the park, animals and every bird species, the fauna and flora leaves one feeling you leaving their little paradise with a greater knowledge of the wild and the lot of laughs were good fun. We are already planning our next two weekends with them. Thank you Riaan and Debbie for a most enjoyable stay. Looking forward to our next stay (and more fresh made cup cakes Debbie).
The owners make it an experience especially if you go on the game drive.
Traversing bush lodges and camp grounds, Marulani ticks all those special attention boxes. Even in the middle of winter, you are welcomed by beautiful indigenous bush gardens, greeted by zebra and ostrich and an abundance of bird life. A passion for nature is seen and felt everywhere and everything is done to encourage and maintain this balance and harmony. From well positioned fully equipped cottages that allow for privacy to the little solar lamps that light your path at night, Riaan and Debbie have created a wonderful escape for like minded people to share and enjoy. With scattered benches under huge acacia trees to the game drives that were just magical, Riaans knowledge of game, habits and habitat leaves you in awe of natures magnificence. For those who are looking to breathe, hear the call of the jackal, the roar of the lion and the snorting of game outside your cottage window, Marulani is a place where you will connect with nature and leave having made new friends, the real blessing and a perfect end to a wonderful weekend.
We really enjoyed it, but we are two retirees. It will be too quiet for the young crowd. Very neat.
Had been a peaceful weekend and Debbie and Riaan pretty much carried us on their hands. The hospitality is a big highlight and the place to stay with all its facilities is great! The outdoor shower is another highlight. Game drive was fantastic and had an amazing time in the field with all the animals we saw. We took the most beautiful pictures. We will definitely be going back soon. Debbie and Riaan you are special people!
Riaan and Debbie absolutely carried us on their hands. The house was well appointed and had everything we needed. Riaan also took us on a game drive and the children loved it. I definitely recommend Marulani and will visit again.
Lovely, equipped unit that is homely and friendly. Owners incredibly hospitable. Even brought us coffee and sandwiches to the viewpoint over waterhole early in the morning. Exceptional service. Definitely worth going again. Game drives in good consultation with other game guides to be taken to where the things happen.
We personally appreciate the nice quiet ambience. The owners are very helpful and friendly and this place is highly recommended if you want to take a break from the rush of the city.
Marulani Bush Lodge is a lovely lodge with an amazing host, Riaan. He is friendly and helpful and makes you feel right at home. His extensive knowledge of the bush and animals is amazing. The accommodation is clean and neat and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable, and if it's not there Riaan supplied it. One can see the love that has been put into the place in the way that it is decorated and attention to detail. I was worried that 8 people sharing a bathroom we would have cold showers but water stayed nice and hot. The gardens are pretty and well maintained and the evening twinkling lights makes you feel like you are in a fairy garden.
