If you love going off the beaten track, it is a destination and accommodation I would recommend. This place to spend the night is probably one of the nicest, most comfortable places I've ever spent the night in, and also one of the most beautiful places in the country. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We were generously received and could rest wonderfully on the couch or most comfortable king-size bed ever in the lovely cool living area or the leafy garden. The kitchen is well equipped and everything is neat, clean and looks brand new. We felt very safe and could relax wonderfully. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in this region. You won't regret it!

Tutti is a gracious host! She even came around with some clean towels the day before we left. Her accommodation was super comfortable for 2 people and is within easy walking distance to explore all Nieu-Bethesda has to offer. My sister and I loved our stay!

Our stay at Meerkat was wonderful. The apartment is private, is located in a quiet part of town with little traffic, there is safe parking, the service is excellent and the recommendation regarding places to eat were spot on. The hostess showed particular generosity to accommodate our inconvenience. make load shedding easier. We will definitely stay there again, this time probably longer.

Apartment is superbly located in a very quiet area with a view of Kompasberg, walking distance from the town centre, restaurants, Uilhuis and micro-brewery. Secure parking within yard with outdoor barbecue and patio set under shade trees. Free Wi-Fi. No TV, but it contributes to rest for soul and body. Owners very friendly and helpful.
The location of the property is such that it is within walking distance of the town center but not in the town centre. It suited us exactly.
We were pleasantly surprised by the location of the Meerkat, both in terms of the side of town that it is located on and being private from the hosts' house on the same property. The room is thoughtfully put together with everything we sometimes miss at other places, like electrical blankets and sufficient plug points.
Only stayed overnight, unfortunately everything was then in Nieu-Bethesda due to Covid.

The cottage is what one would expect from a self-catering unit. Everything was there and worked. But the biggest plus is the spacious lawn and garden with barbecue area and garden furniture that make it special. And that it is nice and secluded.

A unique place among the dry Karoo mountains. An oasis of a breathtaking garden. One walks through a demarcated front garden that is raised very privately but still with a beautiful view. The room itself is well maintained and pleasantly decorated. It feels like the master bedroom of a farmhouse, but with a modern eye. Would recommend it as a stopover on the way to the South Coast or as a place to stay while visiting the dream world of the Karoo.

Being a city girl I missed having a TV in my room. Also I think guests should be informed that there are no ATM and card facilities available. This will help and prepare guest to carry cash. But in general a good place if you want to away from the hassle of the city and connect with nature.

Everything you need for a short stay is there. Coffee, milk and biscuits are also provided. There was also a beautiful bunch of roses from her garden.
Had a wonderful stay at Tutti and Charles' Meerkat. Clean, tidy, cute, private garden with grass and trees for shade in the hot Karoo summers, braai area, wood and firelighters for sale, shaded parking for your vehicle. Quieter surroundings (not that the town is particularly busy and noisy), but still only a few minutes' walk from the Uilhuis and places to eat. Electric blanket for the winters on the giant queen size bed. The kitchen only has the basics, so you won't be able to whip up a three-course meal there. But with the eating places (about eight) in the town and the braai place, you don't have to start cooking. There is a microwave, kettle, pan and frying pan, fridge, toaster and cutlery, so you will be fine if you want to make something light for dinner.
Receive valuable information about New Bethesda in advance with restaurant recommendations. After reception we were surprised with delicious fruit cake to enjoy with our afternoon coffee. Definitely recommend and we will also stay at the Meerkat again on a next visit.

They shared valuable information about their village and the environment with us. If we could, we would have wanted to stay there for a few more days. Meerkat's accommodation is well-equipped and it had everything needed for two people. Neat, spacious with lots of fresh air and near the beautiful scenery of Nieu-Bethesda. The owners also make one feel at home immediately. The town has an old world charm and people are friendly everywhere.
We found the accommodation very clean, modern and comfortable with every necessary facility and convenience. The hosts are very friendly and obliging, offering advice on attractions, restaurants, etc. They went out of their way to suggest an alternative approach to Skypeing my daughter before we arrived, waited until we arrived and even put a welcoming chocolate on each of our pillows. It was one of the nicest self-catering units we have stayed in.

We’ve had a lovely stay at Meerkat in Nieu-Bethesda. The hostess, Tutti Graham, provided us with plenty of extremely useful information before going to the little town (like having cash available since there are no ATM's, which roads to follow and much more). The unit is very tastefully decorated, comfortable and it is certainly notable that a lot of thought has gone into predicting and meeting guests needs! The unit has a private entrance, parking and garden area and we enjoyed a peaceful braai under the Karoo stars.

The kitchenette is equipped with a kettle, a microwave, toaster, fridge, electric frying pan, crockery, and cutlery. There is also a two-plate stove and a pot and pan.

We could accommodate one small kid if you arrange it beforehand and even provide a camp bed/cot.
