It was exceptional. The game came up to the house. In the evenings there were nightcaps that brightened the time. The place is modern and has everything needed.

The house is nestled privately in the heart of the bush. Modern built with beautiful interior and wooden furniture. Two lovely bathrooms, two bedrooms, and a stunning kitchen and living area with large wall windows. This place gives one a 'home away from home' feel. The swimming pool on a patio setting, together with air conditioning inside, makes it an even more wonderful stay. It is nice to cool down after coming back from a game drive in the Kruger nearby. You get spoiled by the many wildlife sightings within the park: kudus, warthogs, duikers, "Bambi" deer, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, velvet monkeys, bush babies, etc. The walking/4x4 trail next to the Kruger fence, alongside the Crocodile river, is any sunrise & sunset lover's dream! Meerkatgat provides safe parking and a braai area to enjoy those bushfire evenings. A 10/10 recommendation.

Meerkatgat remains one of my 3 favorite places in the world. The care and detail with which the house has been furnished, testifies to the love for the house. I always rest so well there - wish I could have stayed another week. The old ibex ram and the timid ibex are so beautiful. The warthogs are just damn naughty. Looking forward to visiting again before the end of the year.

It is a beautiful house with everything that is comfortable that one needs. The house is practical and neatly furnished. Everything is just right and clean and working. Matilda really thinks of anything you might need and stays in touch with you and makes sure that nothing is missing, she sounds like an angry aunt with her rules but she is a sweetheart. The house has appropriate windows which allow for good viewing from inside and creates synergy with the environment. We were treated by visits from various animals which were spectacular. All expectations were met and we will definitely be back. Very good safety measures are in place that allows for good ventilation and comfort.

Hear the hyenas and manatees at night. Braai area is wonderfully sheltered, and close to the house, enough security that makes you feel very safe, animals in dozens that pass right in front of the porch, kudus, impalas, ostriches, mongooses, bushbucks, and of course the warthog family that made their home. on the yard. Was even spoiled with a muskellunge cat and night monkeys. Will definitely use the accommodation again, just feel at home at Meerkatgat.

Beautiful tasteful house. Everything clean and tidy. My sister was in her seventh heaven because she could feed the animals all day! We bought 40 kg of wildebeest pellets, 5 kg of carrots, 3 kg of apples and heads of cabbage in Komatipoort and it was too little for the animals, or (maybe for my sister)! Very dry in the area and you just have to watch your coals. Definitely a peaceful place to escape from the city's noise and bustle. Will visit again.

Meerkatgat is so beautifully and luxuriously furnished. The moment I walked in here, I lost a piece of my heart. The animals that came looking for food, especially the solitary kudu and the bushbuck, were special. I hope when I come again later in the year, she will already have a lamb. I will definitely order alfalfa and food for the animals again - it's not every day that a kudu eats out of your hand. Highlight was the porcupine that came looking for food at night - first time I experienced this in Marloth. This is a very well planned unit with the two rooms and en-suite bathrooms. Beautiful bathrooms and nice living unit. The only criticism we have is the unit just needs more cooling in the summer. The splash pool is beautiful and delicious. I would highly recommend it. Unforgettable.

We originally booked prior to Covid and had to cancel our booking like the rest of the world. We had to wait 18 months to rebook and it was worth the wait. The accommodation met all our expectations and as long time Marloth Park owners we had lots. The house was clean had everything we needed and everything worked as it should. Matilda, even though she was away, was always in touch and the sighting updates we received from her on WhatsApp were a great help with tracking lions at the river. We had regular app interaction with Matilda and found her friendly, helpful and great to deal with. We will certainly be revisiting Marloth and, should our party size suit, Meerkatgat will be our first choice. In addition to being everything advertised, the animals were amazing, we ticked all our boxes and loved the close encounters. Thanks Matilda, we look forward to being returning clients.

The shower is blocked. A stench was coming up the drain and not a dead animal as suggested by the owner. I did give the owner a call to report the blocked shower. She was in the Kruger Park for the day. She did suggest she will find someone and I must stay and wait. Which I said no I was not prepared to do so. We had to use the shower in the spare room.

Where does one begin to describe this "perfect". Mathilda is a great hostess before, during and after the visit. The house's location is excellent, close to the river, but as it is a pipe yard, there is no traffic, wonderfully peaceful. You can just walk down to the river every now and then. As for the interior of the house, it met all our needs. Enough hot water, pressure of water nice and strong. Bed and bedding, slept great. Aircons work decently. All rooms are nice and spacious. Each room also has nice large windows so you don't miss any "visitors" whether you are washing dishes or taking a bath. The braai area and boma are well sheltered from any wind. The kitchen is equipped with everything and more. There is also a gas and electric stove. There are CCTV cameras and an alarm. We always felt safe. Could lock and walk with peace of mind. We would recommend this gem of a place anytime. Just make sure you have enough feed because the "visitors" are many and they are hungry.

It is absolutely in the right place. Walking distance to the river. You can hear the hippos and the elephants. The place is very comfortably furnished, nothing is lacking. The finishing touches make the place. This was our second visit. Will definitely come again.

We are frequent visitors to Marloth from the USA so have rented several homes there. Usually there is some level of disappointment especially at this price point. Meerkatgat was a very pleasant surprise. Perfectly clean, very well equipped and within a 120 meters from the fence of the Kruger National Park where you can watch herds of elephants drinking at the river, packs of lion scouting their prey or lazing in the sun. Most evenings we would listen to the lions roaring close-by. Occasionally you would hear hippos grunting or hyenas calling - the best of African night life. This we could safely do with open windows as Meerkatgat is equipped with great security screens. Not that it is unique to Meerkatgat, but with near zero light pollution, the night sky was magical with a blizzard of stars. What is unique to Meerkatgat, is its owner that is very responsive and eager to assist with ideas and information! Definitely our go-to place for the future until we get to build our own home there.

Had a great time at Meerkatgat. Beautiful modern house with everything one needs. Matilda was wonderful, until I got a call the night before we checked in to go over all the extra details with me and she kept us updated every day with sightings in the Wildtuin. Amazing to be able to see the night monkeys in the evenings take bananas from the braai area and feed them to goats that come up to the stoep while you sit quietly and listen to all the sounds of the animals in the river. We will definitely visit Meerkatgat again. Thank you, 10 out of 10!

Comfortable, tasteful accommodation. Attention is also given to smaller details, e.g. light during Eskom load shedding, gas stove, two-point plug, mosquito repellents, lovely soft towels. Other accommodation is welcome to light a candle at Meerkatgat. Owner in contact with you which makes everything very easy.

My opinion of Meerkatgat has only improved since we were here last time. We have since stayed at several other places to stay in Marloth and Meerkatgat still stands out as the benchmark for self-catering houses in Marloth. Had a great stay and will definitely come back again.

It is close to the boundary wire where you can walk to see more animals coming down to drink water in the Crocodile River. The house was excellent, luxurious with a nice bathtub, and even the bathtub has a view. Had a nice time around the fire and fed the kudu's by hand. The bushbabies that visited us were very cute. Located well next to the river, with a early morning and late afternoon to the river to see the game drinking water. We could clearly hear the hippo's at night and the kudu's were back early that morning for food. The Crocodile Bridge Gate to the Kruger National Park is literally just around the corner and easily accessible, so we went to the Kruger during the day and went to Marloth Park in the evening. Will definitely stay there again and recommend it to other people.

This was one of the nicest places to stay. It is wonderfully spacious with nice finishes and an atmosphere that just makes you feel special. Very well equipped and very tidy. Fine eye for detail. The evening snacks were an absolute treat. On Sunday morning, the whole group of meerkats also came to greet us. We will definitely visit again.

Was at Meerkatgat for a week in December. The time there was amazing. The owner has put a lot of effort into a place that is beautiful and modern. Every morning you are welcomed with kudus that come and eat 1 meter away from you. Warthogs also stopped by regularly along with several goats and not to forget the night owl that came to sit with us every evening. The house is located in the beautiful Marloth Park which is opposite the Kruger Wildlife Park. You are incredibly close to the Crocodile Bridge to go into Kruger. I recommend Meerkatgat to anyone and everyone. Will plan to visit at least one mad a year for sure.

Very neat setup and outstanding value for money. Upon unlocking the accommodation you could smell the clean. The whole set-up is very well planned and if you pull the curtains away, you simply move the forest into the rooms, not to mention the bathrooms.

I would highly recommend Meerkatgat. The unit is in a very cute location and very private. The unit is very well furnished and luxurious, very nicely maintained and one can see that they take a lot of pride in their place. It has everything one needs and more. The children really enjoyed the weekend and are already begging us to go back again. The animals came to visit us on the stoep in the morning and the children had the opportunity to feed the zebras and warthogs right from the stoep. It is good value for money and we will definitely go again.
