Kapokbossie, Leeubekkie and Bloubekkie are in the same house and have access to communal kitchen and lounge facilities. Guests can relax at the pool overlooking the Olifants river and vineyards. A farm breakfast, dinner and picnic baskets are available upon request.

The location of Melkboomsdrift is excellent for travelers who want to explore the Western Cape. After a day's travel, Melkboomsdrift offers exceptional, luxurious accommodation with friendly service and constant communication to arrange meals and any necessities. Breakfast is prepared to taste in an atmosphere where you feel comfortable and can hang out for a long time.
The service was friendly and the room nice and clean. We will definitely use Melkboomsdrift again if I have to go for business. You are in nature and I can only imagine how beautiful it must be when it is flower time.
It is an incredibly beautiful and nice guest house. We can recommend it to everyone and it's definitely one of our favorite places. So much character, history and incredibly nice people. Very glad we discovered that place.

Our experience at Melkboomsdrift Guest House & Conference Center was a positive one.
We wanted to have a barbecue and it was no problem for the management to move us to a self-catering room and they also provided everything for the barbecue. It was very cold and there were nice and warm electric blankets on the bed. The unit has everything needed and is well equipped. Can recommend Melkboomsdrift.
Neat place with a good atmosphere.
The train passed at least 5 times during the night. This woke me each time. We were made acutely aware of security concerns being back in South Africa. There room keys came with a panic button. They stated that you could not drink the tap water but didn't provide you with drinking water. This was available in the mini bar but charged for. Positive note: dining area and food great.
The staff work as if it is a duty and could be more hospitable. A dead mole was in the pool. I pointed it out to the staff but after the second day it was still there.
The suite was neat and it was very comfortable. The host and hostess were very friendly and helpful. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and the staff service in the restaurant was outstanding.

We spent the night in room 4, it was very nice - especially the air conditioning. We arranged to grill our own meat, Melkboomsdrift staff were kind enough to provide us with side dishes.
The price for the accommodation is totally out of proportion to what the facility offers. On our tour of the Northern Cape we stayed in Upington in better accommodation for 50% of the price we paid at Melkboomsdrift Guest House.
The area and people are wonderful, but our room was just completely impractical and at an expensive price.
Rooms 1 to 4 are opposite each other. We stayed in room 3 and had to listen to room 4 and 2's conversations and then TVs. The host and hostess are super friendly, but this does not change the noise level of rooms 1 to 4.
We stayed in the Mill Room, which was very small, dark and cold. Lighting was extremely poor. I really love reading and could hardly read with available lighting. Accommodation was very expensive. Far away from other places to eat and activities.
The guesthouse is situated in a perfect place where you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful surroundings, or take a short drive to the beautiful little town Strandfontein. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are beautifully decorated in an old cape wine farm style, the food is delicious.

We usually stay at the main places along the main road, which were fully booked this time. Were we not pleasantly rewarded for the effort of driving just that little bit further. We enjoyed the multi-star reception, accommodation, meals, view, safety, tranquility, thorough communication so much. We come again!

Had a very nice stay, the place is very clean and tidy.
The place to stay is beautiful and the view over vineyards and mountains even more so. The rooms are massive and luxurious and the kitchen has everything you could need. We did not realize that the place to stay was more than 10 km outside Vredendal town. This would not have been a problem because we intended to eat at the guest house that evening, but seeing as it was two days before Christmas, most of the staff had already left and the kitchen was not open. It wasn't a big problem, but we would have appreciated it if the drivers had warned us in advance so that we could plan better and not have to drive back to town to look for food.

Thoroughly enjoyed the place and the friendliness of the staff. It was great to spend the night there and would have stayed longer if we had to. Food is great too.
Was welcomed with warmth and conversation! Made us and the tour members feel welcome quickly and workers got everyone's bags etc. taken to rooms and see to it that every guest is comfortable. We only stayed one night but would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the breathtaking view and warmth of the surroundings. Would definitely recommend the accommodation but for more than one night. Thank you Melkboomsdrift, definitely see you again.

Very neat accommodation. Will be especially beautiful in the summer when the vines are all green. The dining room is unfortunately slightly problematic to reach due to very steep stairs you have to climb, and stairs themselves are very small, especially on the way down.
We had a lovely stay. Our room was stylish, comfortable and well equipped. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, and our rusks tin was kept full which obviously scores a lot of points! The water-wise gardens are also beautiful! We will definitely recommend them!

Fantastic service and accommodation!
Our room (perhaps I booked honorably) was not soundproof at all. I could literally follow the speeches of the people next to us (fortunately family). The hot water in the shower is so hot that one cannot get into the shower. I understand it's a gas heating system - but we also live with gas at home and therefore know how it works. The breakfast was unfortunately also not value for money and the stairs to the dining hall very steep and dangerous. But the place is beautiful, neat and clean.
The guest house is very central and offers all the necessary facilities. Because I travel a lot and use guesthouses, I was quite taken aback by the fact that there was no complimentary shower gel and shampoo available (as with all the other guesthouses I stay at). There was hand soap at the sink. I'm sure it was just a mistake that crept in somewhere in the preparation, but considering what the cost was for the night, you'd certainly have expected better. If it is the standard that they don't provide shower gel and shampoo, maybe it should be better communicated in advance. If they did, then I clearly missed it, with attendant inconvenience. I can still recommend the guest house, but for now.
This guest house has a lot of potential. But was neglected. The 4 star rating and associated high rate is not in line with 4 star standards. Breakfast for R150 was excessive given what was served.
Melkboomsdrift is supposed to be a 4 star place. It definitely isn't. When I wanted to take a bath, dirt came out of the faucet. There is a small window in the room that does not have a curtain, so an afternoon nap was impossible and the sun was already bothering me early in the morning. At least the bed was very comfortable and clean.
Enjoyed the stay. Rooms comfortable, however a little more crockery/cutlery could be provided to avoid washing every time something is used. Lovely surroundings and staff very pleasant.
On arrival we were received very kindly. Most beautiful green lawn and peaceful atmosphere. Accommodation really nicely equipped. Anything you may need for a short to a longer stay. I will definitely stay here again. Wish we had stayed longer!

A beautiful guest house with friendly staff who made us feel at home. Our accommodation units were on the farm away from home, very comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. It was cold but slept warm with the electric blankets. However, the breakfast was a disappointment.

My wife and I were impressed with the accommodation. Everything was clean and tidy and in their place. I understand there is a water shortage (Here in Wellington too) and suggest that they look at the "shower" taps. It was great to get up on Saturday morning and see a mist hanging over the vineyards and sit outside drinking coffee. Home-baked rusks (not packet ones) would have been nice. The two that were there, I simply ate on Friday afternoon.
Melkboomsdrift Lodge is very nice and tidy. The staff is very friendly. We had a very nice stay.
Washed in winter, so all the vines are dull. Think it should be beautiful in the summer. Lovely place to visit. The stairs to the upper floor where one eats, however, are very steep and one feels unsafe to move up and down there. Not suitable for older people! It is suggested that the owner does something about this, as someone has already fallen down there and been seriously injured. Apart from this, great stay!
Was a lovely evening so between the vineyards and the beds were really comfortable. The units are so cutely laid out and I was able to make nice coffee, lie down and read and bathe. I will stay there again if I'm in the area.

We were very warmly welcomed and the staff were continuously very friendly and nimble. The view from the front porches and lawn, and especially the breakfast room, was exceptional over the Olifants River Valley. The breakfast room itself is in urgent need of maintenance and does not appear very tidy. The meals were good.

The staff is very friendly. I would not rate Melkbos as 4 star. The dining facilities are not up to standard. The dining room is in an outside area, it was freezing cold and we had to have dinner and breakfast here. The area also did not give the impression of being very clean. Furthermore, the food was very tasty, but cold every night. No proper coffee and it's served out of tin cups - I don't expect tin cups for a 4 star unit.
