The staff were friendly and helpful. Although the guest house was clean and tidy, we would suggest replacing the mattress in the unit we slept in. The hot breakfast was delicious, although the fruit salad was disappointing; it consisted almost entirely of melon. I am allergic to cantaloupe. The coffee was delicious.
Everything was fine but the sleep in personnel invades our space. They bring their braaivleis and in their PJs and slippers braai in the braai room and sit outside on the top balcony smoking where you are supposed to sit with your morning coffee. They are unfriendly, not informing you about the breakfast arrangements; you have to ask.
Toilet seat was broken and reception was non-existent.
Nice stay, but rooms and used towels were not cleaned daily. Used teacups in room were not washed. Dirt in black bin in room and kitchen accumulated and was not removed until check out day when I reported it. Recommendation - Daily cleaning is crucial and not just making beds. Upgrading the breakfast menu would be welcome to bring it more in line with the aesthetics of the guest house.

Sufficient overnight room near the sea.
We specified, booked and paid in full for 3 luxury rooms a few months ahead of our arrival. The owner, with no prior negotiation, assigned us to three standard rooms. These were mostly small and uninviting. When expressing our discomfort, we were offered one luxury room in another building after we had settled in. I later phoned the owner, but found him unapologetic - with little, if any, regard for our situation. He kept on stating his problems and eventually offered a second room, also elsewhere. This was strange, but practically too late as we were already preparing to attend a special event in Blouberg. The behavior of the owner was unacceptable - I would describe it as harsh, unethical and probably legally questionable. The lady who received us and who provided a lovely breakfast the next day, was however very kind and supportive.

We enjoyed our stay at Melkbosch Guest House very much. It was very clean and neat. The hosts were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. The only suggestion would be to add plates and cutlery if it is selected as self-catering.
We were four single friends sharing two rooms, so we requested to sleep in king-size beds to avoid disturbing each other during the night. Since the room we initially booked was not considered suitable for elderly guests, another room was quickly prepared for us. We felt well taken care of.

Understandably since I was only there for one night and alone, I did not get the room that I booked, but I can't say that I was delighted with the room I was given, right next to the entrance gate and a poky window. Would have been nice to be informed of the change prior to my getting there. It was nice to be able to have breakfast included and the view there was lovely. I might consider a second visit if I were accompanied and for a longer stay if the room provided was different.

Excellent friendly service. Felt so welcome. Little things at Sand room just get a little attention. The boiler, and perhaps a shower curtain to prevent the floor from getting wet. But beyond that, would recommend the place and if we stay in Melkbosstrand again choose the guest house.

It was a lovely relaxing weekend. The house is beautiful and our room Sea had the perfect view of the sea. Truly good for the soul. We walked far along the sea. The restaurants were all within walking distance and we felt safe walking back in the evening. Many thanks also for a delicious breakfast.

Good position, close to beach.
The bathroom didn't have a door, the (single) bedside lamp didn't have a bulb. We also had to wait a long time at the door to get access to the property and rang the bell a few times. When we dialed the number, a woman answered and said: "I see you on the camera, Pieter is there now". It was slightly peculiar. Even though we could also see there was WiFi, there were no instructions in our room or verbally conveyed to us on how to get the password. There was also only a measly bottle of bodywash in the shower and no cotton wool or earplugs in the room. The room was very clean and breakfast was delicious and the service there excellent. There are much better places to stay on Melkbos, we will not be going back here again.

Breakfast was great, place was clean and tidy every day. Parking outside made us anxious but there were no incidents. One of the rooms was up a steep flight of stairs - people with small children and older people won't be able to use it but then there is also a room downstairs and the place next door. There is a washing machine for washing clothes and we could even store our fish in the freezer. Each room has a small self help fridge and our one room which was downstairs had a small kitchen which helped a lot.

This guesthouse is well located and it is lovely and private with a fantastic view. Host is very friendly but also grant you your privacy. Breakfast was delicious and I feel it was good value for money. The house is very modern and clean. Aircon woudl have made the experience perfect, but the room was cool enough so that it wasn't a problem. I recommend this guesthouse to any traveller who would enjoy a lock-up-and-go getaway. This is a stunning guest house for family within walking distance to the beach.
The staff slept in the garage directly next to our room. They first cooked food very late at night and then laughed and talked too much. It was extremely disturbing and very bad. Our afternoon nap was impossible because the manager was giving orders to the two cleaners right in front of our room. We found it very disturbing. The crockery in this room was shocking. There were 5 cups of which 3 were chipped and just turned brown. There were only 3 teaspoons and none of them fit together. There wasn't even a bottle opener in the room and we had to borrow one from the staff. It is a self-catering unit, there were numerous pots but no stove or plates on which to prepare anything. At least we could barbecue outside our room, but could only use the microwave inside. The staff were very friendly, but the stay was really awful and that's why they get a bad review. All our other stays were pleasant.
Do not book here! Bad service with owner who "forgot" that we would arrive, and then 4 of us had to stay in one room with two adult children aged 21 and 23 who had to sleep on bunk beds. His assistant told us that he had done this several times before as well.
