The campsite consists of 10 campsites on grass and each stand has its own electricity, water and braai area. The farm produces its own livestock, especially Karoo lamb and springbuck, and is the foundation of excellent cuisine. We have an attractive ladies bar, The Dear and Pheasant.
Activities on the farm include a playground for children, tennis court, bowling green, swimming pool, walks and cycling, game drives, birding, fossil viewing, visit to the diamond mine and tannery. During the winter family hunts are popular.
We are a venue for weddings, birthday parties and conferences.

Received very hospitably. Braai packages with braai buns were specially prepared for us on request for the evening's braai. Rooms were neat and clean upon our arrival. Thank you very much again.
Melton Wold Guest Farm is a must stop if you are traveling to the West Coast.
Make an effort to visit this destination. Nice old world accommodation and facilities. Great appreciation for staff and owners' friendly and prompt service. Will definitely come and relax here a lot more. Make an effort to read up on this farm's history, really very interesting.
First of all giving a 5 star for location can be misleading for some, we deliberately drove around to be able to spend the night here. We were not sorry. Old-world atmosphere, friendly reception and pampering with good facilities and a delicious dinner that we booked in advance. It is almost unimaginable that so many activities took place years ago on this historic farm. Grateful that the owners continue to maintain and share.

We found the place needed a bit of TLC but liked the fact it was very different to modern hotels. We met and chatted to great people in the pub and the food was good. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and the small game drive. We will visit again.

A campsite to recommend. Space, delicious grass, nice coolness and a little gem to discover. Here, tranquility in life can be found again. Meal at guest house very nice but maybe a bit high priced.
We really appreciated the stay. We camped (in the rain). Bathrooms are clean and tidy. Beautiful swimming pool and plenty of play space for the children.
Basic amenities are there and the atmosphere is very nice and peaceful. Maybe not for hoipoloi people.
Place urgently needs maintenance. Dinner price is excessive for what you get. If you want to look at an old place - architectural style, but not maintained.
From reception to departure there was friendly service. Appreciate that they were able to keep so much of the old, but are still neat and clean.
Only slight negative was not seeing merino sheep on the farm which to me is what a Karoo farm should have, otherwise an excellent Karoo experience.
For those looking for rest in the wonderful nature of South Africa, far from the inhabited world, and a good accommodation, Melton Wold, somewhere between Loxton and Victoria-West, is an excellent place for that. The guest house is old and full of history, but the care is contemporary and excellent.
A characterful guesthouse in a great location.
The interesting history and old world atmosphere is a completely different experience. We were the only visitors eating there, so it was a bit quiet. Music in the dining hall will help for a better atmosphere. As there is no other restaurant and self-catering is not an option, it would be good if their rates for the meals are indicated. Staff are friendly and competent.
This guest house has been around since 1935 and exudes the charm of bygone eras while including the luxuries us modern travellers have come to expect. The gardens and old buildings are lovingly maintained and the members of staff are friendly and welcoming. There are lots of activities to keep you and your family busy (and not lolling in your room in from of the TV), amongst others, a bowling green, trampoline, a reading room, a quaint pub with a pool table, walks (watch out for the grass mosquitoes) and drives in the scenic surrounds. The food is tasty and the portions substantial.

When you step inside Melton Wold it feels like time has been turned back 100 years. It offers a nostalgic atmosphere. The antique furniture is special. The farm's vast plains are breathtaking.
Had another great experience, had a great night's rest. Dinner and breakfast deliciously prepared and tasty. Will definitely visit again.

Ronel, Willem and all their staff make this an absolute must karoo travel destination. The meals are absolutely mouthwatering amazing and worth every cent and the efforts taken by all the staff to make this an unforgettable stay is just wonderful. This was our second visit and will definitely be back without question.
Although a few kilometers from the main road, it was once again a wonderful experience. The tranquillity of the farm life, spacious sleeping quarters and buildings, clean air and beautiful Karoo surroundings make this I definitely want to use it again. Friendly people and food were delicious, as well as going up the mountain with the little kids. This wonderful outing is definitely not meant for people who want to find fault with everything (proverb: take it as it is).

Very friendly and warm welcome by Barbara and Kevin. Enjoy a delicious traditional dinner with an excellent breakfast. Would have liked to stay longer. Can definitely recommend it.
We were very well received. The host and wife even opened the bar for us to watch the Currie Cup final even though we were camping. Campsite and facilities clean, tidy and safe. Pool needs some attention. Saw beautiful antelopes. Also received a visit from a turtle and emu. Will definitely recommend.
For a getaway from the bustling city, this is a definite choice. It is quiet, very dark at night and the stars are incredible. We stayed wonderfully, enjoyed wonderful farm food and the bedding and towels are some of the softest and most luxurious. The personal attention of the staff was exceptional.
We got there and the 5 course meal in the evening blew us away. The bed and pillows were superb.
Melton Wold is a unique place in the middle of the Karoo. As a child of the Karoo, I am always very much at home in such places. For anyone who loves the Karoo, like me, Melton Wold is definitely a place to visit!

Truly an oasis: of generous hospitality, delicious traditional food offered with deep value of careful attention that feels like it lies deep in the almost 200 year tradition of offering welcoming accommodation! The early morning swim in the clear blue, the almost-as-old pool surrounded by tamarisk, birdsong and peacock call was just what my soul and spirit needed. Further avalanche! Melton Wold holds a very special place in our hearts as our family used to spend their December holidays there in the 50's and 60's. Although there are modern amenities available now, the old world charm still shines through. What a peaceful, memorable stay.

Just what was needed to relax and rejuvenate the batteries. Old-world charm coupled to friendly staff and wonderful food. Couldn't ask for more except staying longer but that is for next time.
A place where you enjoy old world history, tranquility and comfort. The rooms are clean, lots for the children to do, enjoy reading and relaxing in the shade of beautiful trees or on the veranda. Nice big swimming pool.

It was a bucket list wish of mine to go back to Melton Wold - I holidayed there with my parents in 1972. The place is exactly the same with its old fashioned charm and peaceful atmosphere. Unfortunately, the horses are no longer there, but we had a nice walk in the Karoo field. Thank you very much for the delicious Christmas Eve sit-down braai - it was out of the books!

Wonderful and good value for money. We would have liked more guidance as to what to see. Quite charming. Small hiccup in that they mislaid our booking - which could have been a disaster had we not phoned to say that we were running late.
