We also really enjoyed walking round the gardens - stunning even after a hard frost. Our room was very spacious, attractive and comfortable. We highly recommend staying at this delightful farm.

Relaxing farm vibes with very friendly and helpful hosts. The self-catering house was really spacious. The garden and swimming pool at the homestead are amazing.
The apartment was spacious, with a stove and microwave. Two full bathrooms were very convenient, as were the heaters and electric blanket. Unfortunately, we were not informed that load shedding was at 6 a.m. the next morning would not start. So we couldn't heat anything to drink in the early morning. We would have appreciated it to know, then we could have quickly made a coffee 15 minutes earlier.
Indications of coordinates will facilitate the route to Mieliefontein. Friendly reception and welcome with friendly and effective service delivery. The garden is a loop court and had fun swimming in the pool. Unit very spacious with antiques and old fashioned furniture, yet artful and efficient. Bed and bedding very comfortable. Book both dinner and breakfast meals. What a feast of delicious farm food! Would like to stay again and enjoy the Karoo like that.
Advertised ─ a few nice pics of the outside of the farmhouse and a bath. When we got there we found ourselves in a run-down farmhouse, with old, worn linens, sagging beds, leaking plumbing, and floorboards that bent when you stood on them. The outside looks good in pictures, but in reality, the paintwork is blistered and peeling. This house and its interior need a serious revamp! We would not have paid half the price if only we knew.
I booked Mieliefontein for 5 people but then 2 friends came along at the last minute. The accommodation we had would be enough to accommodate them (at an extra rate of course) but then the accommodation recommended we stay at another place "because it would be more convenient". Everything but! The other place should be advertised on its own because is, and has NOTHING from Mieliefontein. Nothing advertised for Mieliefontein applies to the other location. The other place is secluded, no beautiful gardens, no swimming pool (have to walk a km in the Karoo sun) to cool off because Karoo summer of 39 degrees is quite hot, no fan if you don't ask, no WiFi , no TV, old and uncomfortable living room - not at all suitable for the elderly to be able to sit and stand up. One of the toilets' flush mechanism didn't work, the shower drain was clogged - oh yes, and the one shower only had cold water. The previous people's empty drink bottle and wet wipes were lying on the porch wall for us. There were braai facilities because we then had to cook ourselves, but nothing to clean the braai with - no brush, no newspaper, no soap in the kitchen to wash it with - terrible! So in my opinion sly advertising and marketing was used here. Mieliefontein saw they could sell an absolutely awful place to unsuspecting travelers at a premium rate and then make their beautiful, comfortable accommodation that would easily rent out available for last minute bookings. So good business for them, but the most horrible experience for our group. I am bitterly disappointed and would not recommend them as I feel they caught us off guard.
It was the most amazing farm experience with beautiful gardens. We haven't feasted on farmer's food so deliciously for a long time. There was an abundance. It was spotless and great beds for sore feet.

We were very impressed. We wanted to barbecue and the host packed everything we needed for us. There were also soft drinks and beer available which the host had put in our fridge.

Nice rain on the farm, roads nice and wet, but drivable.
We booked the self-catering unit and when we arrived the owners' daughter had decided she wanted one of the bedrooms in the unit even though we had paid for the entire unit. We asked if she could please leave as that is not what we had paid for and she shouted at us and said that now she has nowhere to sleep. She did eventually pack up her things and leave, but it was very stressful.

The garden walk is amazing at this location and everyone is so friendly and hospitable. We had a lovely dinner and it was a perfect overnight stay as we made our way down to the coast. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Mieliefontein is truly a welcome oasis after a long drive where you are also pampered by the friendly staff and fed with top-shelf food.
We were received as soon as we stopped and immediately taken to our room which was very spacious and tidy. We walked through the beautiful large garden with all its roses. That evening we ate the most delicious food. It was a fantastic experience!
Mieliefontein is approximately 15 minutes from the N1. We stayed in a spacious detached house. The house was very neat and clean, linen included. Price was slightly expensive in my opinion.

I liked the location, it is close to the N1. Very friendly staff and I liked that I could stay with my dog. The garden is huge and really beautiful and worth seeing.
We moved to Cape Town and therefore needed a place to sleep over. It was us, my in-laws, our small children and dogs. Mieliefontein made us feel very much at home and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was very friendly and the dinner was special. I would recommend Mieliefontein. We did struggle in the dark to find our way again, more signs for people who leave early to work.
No WiFi, no room available, and expensive for what we got.
Enjoyed the flatlet which had ample space for our family. Would be nice to have a braai area closer to the flatlet. Pool was great after a long and hot drive. Garden is magnificent and beautifully green.

We had a very nice overnight stay, beautiful room and real Karoo hospitality.
The karoo silence enveloped us like a blanket, so that the next day we were refreshed to go to our final destination. The aunt put a lot of effort into putting together a braai pack for us plus the nice potato salad and also the peach salad. Would love to have the recipes. The place was clean and tidy. All I would suggest is that they put a mat in the shower, as the floor surface is very smooth.

The core of the guest house is an old farmhouse in excellent condition and stylishly furnished. It is away from the main road, and in a beautiful and exceptionally large garden. The hostess' meals are something to appreciate. She called ahead to find out if her planned combination of dishes would suit us. The hospitality is top notch. Highly recommended!

Mieliefontein was clean and tidy. All the many rooms were very comfortable for the large group we were. Enough bathrooms. Although it was freezing cold, it was lovely with the fireplace, heaters and warm blankets on the bed.

My family and I, with dogs, were very disappointed in the accommodation. Really well located, good and friendly communication with owner and treated with respect throughout. Mieliefontein's front garden is unbelievably beautiful. Unfortunately we were put in the "apartment" which is an old, dusty unit by the back door. Our "view" was the back door, toilet pipes, doghouses, chicken coops, laundry room and the maids moving all over. Old apartment, old furniture, old brown linen. Beautiful bathroom. No partitions for a separate area for the animals - had to keep them in the apartment of on short leash. No dinner served in main dining room, but in second smaller "house" dining room. Really nice people, tries very hard and works very hard. Wonderful "boerekos". My problem is the wrong impression that is created online, something that we didn't get. Felt like second-rate guests. Unfortunately.
Ian, (I think that was his name) was the most humble, hospitable and gracious host I have ever come across. Whilst his wife cooks in the kitchen he quietly charms his guests and make sure they are comfortable. I wish I could clone him. The guest house is wonderful. It felt like I was transported back in time as the interior is dated, lending this establishment an old world charm. The gardens are exquisite! I can highly recommend Mieliefontein.

We were warmly received by the Ferreiras at Mieliefontein near Hannover. We brought German guests, who live near Hanover in Germany, to stay overnight here in South Africa's Hanover. We're just sorry we arrived at the farm so late, but the delicious dinner made up for the whole day's drive in the car. We had a wonderful sleep on the farm, which was a wonderful experience for them. We were then rested again for the rest of our ride. We slept in the self-catering apartment and were therefore able to leave early after making breakfast ourselves. Mrs. Ferreira called us in advance to see if we wanted to book dinner and also gave clear road directions, which helped a lot to find the farm easily. Thank you very much for good service. We would recommend Mieliefontein to spend the night in the Karoo.
I would definitely stay at this pleasant guest house again if travelling down to Cape Town.

We stayed over night at Mieliefontein. Caring and kind owners. We were the only guests. Comfortable room with beautiful gardens.
I was not very happy with the place, you have to think we drove 800 km in the day and when we got there around 4:00 pm it was very hot and there was no air conditioning. We died from the heat.
We were received very kindly and were pleasantly surprised by the neat, cool room with ample space. The beautiful garden and swimming pool were a wonderful treat. The 3 course dinner was fantastic. I have already recommended Mieliefontein to friends and family!
The owners even gave us an additional room without us requesting it. They also changed my car's wheel after something cut the wheel. Great farmer hospitality.

We were traveling with dogs and there was an error with booking. The dog friendly rooms were full. Other than that, no complaints. If you are traveling with animals make sure you contact them shortly before your arrival to make sure you are correctly checked into one of their dog friendly rooms. Had a delicious dinner, but drove too early for breakfast. Highly recommended: do yourself a favor and eat there. Nice location. Slightly off the main road and about 20 km from your travel distance. Highly recommended. Nice swimming pool and cold beer or soft drinks available.
