We very much enjoyed our peaceful stay at this little cottage on a working farm! The place was cosy and well-considered, clean, tidy, and well-equipped. Our hosts communicated clearly and were friendly, approachable, and knowledgeable about the area. We were spoiled that they welcomed us with a loaf of fresh warm farm bread. We enjoyed feeding the chickens, watching the gorgeous full moon rise, and climbing the dam wall. As a fellow quilter, I was delighted by the handmade art quilts and beautiful bedcovers and pillows. It was an easy and beautiful drive into Riversdale for the event we were attending. We hope to stay here again and do some more of the walks available. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy old-fashioned hospitality in a unique Klein Karoo setting.
Miertjieskraal delivered just what we needed, and more. Johan and Esther are warm and welcoming, the 'huisie' has everything you need and is beautifully decorated - a million star stay!
If it is to get quiet and admire nature then this is the place for travelers. The place is very neat and clean with braai facilities outside on the stoep as well as in a cozy and private corner on one side of the house. When I say "heart and soul" I refer to the warm welcome from the owners as well as the freshly baked bread and biscuits. Small detail that makes a big impact.
