The apartment is very cute and comfortable, I would recommend it to anyone. Also, Uncle Danie is very pleasant.
The host made us feel at home and is very friendly. However, the TV was not working and all the bins were not empty when we arrived.
The load shedding in SA unfortunately has an impact on accommodation, although it is beyond the owner's control. Since the location and configuration is so good, the owner may consider installing solar panels or batteries that will reduce the impact. WiFi is also impacted, and you depend on it when you travel these days. The bathroom lacks towel racks - perhaps a few racks would solve the problem.
We really enjoyed the overnight stay. The room was nice and clean and had extra amenities for use. We were a little disappointed with the reception and had to call the owner to explain how the gates and WiFi work. The peaceful atmosphere saves the review except the yard itself looks neglected. The grass is cut unevenly, some of the garden is overgrown, you scratch your car with rose trees growing in the path and the walking route past the little ponds is closed everywhere with broken gates and the wooden deck is broken half way. The shower needs attention as only 10% of it works and sprays very strongly. There is an uneven amount of glasses and cups and you have to play with all the switches and extensions to get the right plug for the kettle and lights. Lastly, the room was previously attached to the main house with only a door separating the two, one can clearly hear the people in the house so privacy is not guaranteed.

Bath mats were old and worn, not sure if they were clean. Moved all mats out of the way. The fridge leaked. Kitchen cloths were old and stained. Would definitely not use the kitchen. Extension cords everywhere; there do not seem to be enough plugs. Linen was clean. Bed could possibly do with an upgrade. Bathroom blinds need replacing and need a clean.
We booked our stay here because we were attending a wedding close by. They accommodated our late arrival in the evening. We arrived during loadshedding and even though they don't have generators, we received the loadshedding schedule in advance and battery-powered lights were provided.
Cheap, minimum. Bunch of little things - dirty marks on mirrors, microwave. "Scruffy" bathroom with pipes that are open, water from faucet just falls into sink. The bathroom door has great difficulty opening and closing. The bathroom is extremely cramped and doesn't really offer convenience. oh f. no sound. The owner was nice, but a bit confused and didn't know who we were.
Poorly organized ─ we called the owner to open the gate of the estate for us to check in just before 2. He opened and his helper showed us our place. At 6 o'clock in the evening the owner calls to hear what time we are checking in, he also asks how long we are staying, although he sent bank details earlier so we can pay the balance. Dirty! The place had definitely not been cleaned recently ─ every corner was full of cobwebs, the windowsills were full of dust and dead bugs, the shower floor was so full of dust that it formed a ring on the side after the first use, the bedding was torn, the extra blanket, which we had to use because it was damn cold, left the room in a cloud of dust that made us break out in hay fever. The "air freshner/ car freshner" in the bathroom already expired in April 2022. False promises on the advertisement on the website ─ the posting on the website refers to a restaurant menu that is in the room where you can order food and have it delivered ─ no menu in the room and the helper who helped us check in also had knew nothing They advertise picnics, but when we asked about it they said it was too cold so they don't do it (it was 25 degrees the Saturday we were there). If we had not paid in advance, we would have checked out after the first night and not stayed the full 2 nights. Request: please leave a page with the available DStv channels so that one does not have to go through everything to search for what is available. Please leave also a loadshedding schedule in the rooms, especially because there is no alternative power available, so that one can plan around it.
Peaceful oasis to refresh your soul.
If you want to rest in silence and peace, then this is the place for you, whether for a day or more. The scenery is beautiful and the accommodation stylishly furnished. The host did everything in his power to cope with load shedding and make our stay as pleasant as possible.

We never felt for a moment that we wanted to go out or get away from the area, as we felt very safe, and thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful and calm atmosphere. We did date, but for different reasons.

The recommendation is with condition. The main building looks very neat and definitely luxurious. Unfortunately, our unit was not indicative of a 4.5 star rating. I would rate our unit, room 6, more than a 2.5 star. Although the tranquility and location were perfect, the unit was not what I expected from a 4.5 star guest house. Attention will need to be given to that unit to get it to a 4.5 star rating otherwise it may leave future travelers with a negative impression of the guest house as a whole which will be unfair to Millstream Inn as a whole. I just have to add that Danie and Hannetjie were great hosts and even brought us homemade pudding to enjoy.
We just didn't get the room we chose. We asked for room number 5 and we got room 6.
No view as in the photos. No aircon, very small and old fridge with little storage space. Kitchen dirty and linen on the beds not clean.
Unfortunately they have roosters in a coop right next to the room we were in. They started crowing at 3 am and did not stop till we left the next day at 10 am. we had a terrible nights sleep. For that reason I will never go back or be recommending it to anyone else. We were there for a wedding and when we got back to the inn at 10 pm the electrical gate was open so we felt a little unsafe. It was loadshedding so that was why, however they should have a back up battery for their and their guests safety.
We only stayed overnight, but everything was 100% and Danie was friendly and helpful.
Danie and Hannetjie received us kindly. We were spoiled with a home-baked farmer's bread, baked by Danie. It's wonderfully quiet between all the trees with birds chirping and sheep keeping the grass short between the pecan trees. A big plus would be a pool to cool off in when it's so hot. I would love to stay there again and happily recommend the place.

I had only read good reviews about Millstream Inn so expected more. The bedding was dirty (looked like a dog had laid on the bed) and not ironed. The room was also dirty in places. The oven and microwave were definitely not cleaned. The hostess's first words to us were that we still had to pay the rest of the fee. The environment is very beautiful. We are not generally people to complain, but we are really disappointed.
View: Can't improve on it. Interacting with animals was great fun. Negative points: The owner made me feel like a bother when I approached him (2 times in 4 days). Could barely turn around in kitchen, extremely small area, ruined my clothes horribly as cupboards are not finished smoothly and when you turn around it pulls in your clothes. Shelves with dishes very high. Difficult to achieve. Dusty, not dusted behind cupboards in years, cupboard moved so I have inside area to work on. Wardrobe right door not sanded down properly to be above floor area. Very difficult to open and extremely annoying grinding noise! Bath excessively large and not enough hot water to adequately fill it for bathing. Not option of shower.

I would like to suggest that the directions include access from the highway is provided by a black steel security gate and that Danie must be called to gain access. We really enjoyed the location, room anemities and the view over the mountains.
This is a very secure place to explore the Hartbeespoort dam area from. The unit that we stayed in has all the necessary house hold items to make it a home away from home. Should you not want to make your own food there is a number of nice places to eat just a stone through away. Almost the only place around that excepts one night stay-over during weekends, some of us cannot stay for two nights due to other commitments. Danie and his team are very friendly and cooperative.
Was a lovely experience, very neat and well equipped. The owner is very helpful and goes to so much effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
Our stay was too short and did not get the time to enjoy the tranquility, peacefulness and comfort that Millstream Inn had to offer. We will be back soon.

Very friendly and helpful, good location and very nice premises. The room is part of the house and you can therefore hear everything that goes on in the house. I wouldn't recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to get away for a weekend, but it is ideal for an overnight stay to attend a wedding.

We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. The environment is stunning and the house itself is charming. We also had lots of privacy. The rules regarding coming and going was explained to us and we also got our own keys which made it very easy. If I ever go in that direction again, I will stay there again.
There were problems with the plumbing and we couldn't stay at Millstream. Danie organised alternative accommodation for us. I was disappointed because we paid R800 for the night at the other place and no discount was offered for the change. The other accommodation was neat and clean, but not really private since the room borders on the farmhouse and that was not the case at Millstream.
The owner and staff are friendly and very helpful. We travelled with our 3 year old and the place offers loads of open and safe spaces for children to run around in. The accommodation was located close to everything we wanted to do and to see (Elephant sanctuary and PTA Zoo). I will recommend this guest house to any family with young kids.
Danie was very friendly and willing to help wherever he could. The unit was very clean, neat and spacious. We had a lovely visit and would definitely go to the Millstream Inn again.

A beautiful farm style retreat. A modern room within a stunning rustic house. Friendly service with a smile. We struggled to find the place, but later realized that Travelground had emailed me very comprehensive directions...blush...yet the owner was extremely helpful in finding our way and went above and beyond to assist. The room was clean and very elegantly decorated. The owner could probably have charged us even more. To the previous person who made such horrible comments, I have no idea what they were on about, probably expected a 5 star hotel that would cater to their every whim and not a beautiful local guest house. It was a lovely stay, only wish I could have stayed longer.
We absolutely loved staying here. The owner of the property is awesome. The rooms are beautiful, clean and modern. Highly recommend this place. The actual Guest House is beautiful and you can sit outside and enjoy the breathtaking view of the mountains and relax. Nothing is too much for them, a simply wonderful place. The most beautiful place in the heart of Hartepeespoortdam. It is a home away from home. The best service from very friendly staff.

We stayed at Millstream Inn Guest House after a wedding we attended the Friday evening. Danie was very friendly and helpful and helped with directions. When driving into the guesthouse's property, the prettiest flowers and roses welcome you. There were chickens, dogs, and rabbits that enhanced the farm feeling. The unit was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. The next morning we realised we had a flat tyre. Danie helped us to change the wheel and even repaired the wheel for us. He really did more than one would expect and helped us a lot. Will go back anytime if we need accommodation in that area again

Our visit to Millstream Inn was pure heaven. One of the best places to get away from the city and immerse oneself in peace and quiet. Loads of birdlife and poultry which evokes a farm feel combined with luxury accommodation. Clean and neat. Everything you would need is in the rooms. The service was simply excellent. Just what one needs to escape the hustle of the city. Anyone who doesn't enjoy their stay here, don't know peace and quiet. Thank you, Danie and staff. We will definitely stay here again.
The room was wonderful and the location very peaceful and pretty. The only trouble was that we had to pay the remaining 50% cash at the property, they wouldn't allow EFT. We had a lovely stay, although I do feel that you pay for what you get, I would like to have found some more reasonably priced accommodation in the area.
We had a great time with more than enough space for our family with two teenagers. Quiet farm setting with the most beautiful view. Delicious lapa for a nice visit and barbecue.
We had such a good time with family. Will definitely take the kids with next time. Think they will enjoy it tremendously.

We escaped from the city for the weekend and the Inn provided the much needed peace and tranquility needed to relax. You get the feeling of staying on the farm, you open up the expansive windows and the sounds of the roosters and nearby horses drift in, you take a deep breath of the crisp morning air and can smell the lusern. The Inn is tucked away in a charming community lined with cobblestones and water canals. We were greeted upon arrival and showed to our room. We were the only guests, therefore we had the 'apartment' to ourselves. The kitchen, dining room and living room had all the amenities you would need.
A beautiful place. Peaceful with lots of beautiful nature surrounding it. The unit is nicely equipped with everything you need. Close to Hartbeespoort. Friendly staff and owner. We enjoyed every minute of our getaway.

Stay away! Owner left a domestic-worker (she was very friendly, I have to add) in charge and only spoke with us via phone. Our reservation was for 5 people (2 adults, 3 teenagers). We were shoved into 2 rooms with an extra single bed being squashed in last minute. The rooms were probably furnished a day ago. Paintings were propped up against the furniture (not on the walls). The headboards were not attached to walls and the slightest movement made it sound like a cheap brothel. Extension cords for the electricity were swinging a metre above the floor. Cornices on one side of room only. No mirrors near dressing tables, so trying to style your hair a nightmare. No hairdryers. Complimentary coffee was a joke. A few squashed satches of coffee, no milk, no tea and one lonely satchet of sugar! (For 5 people!) Our room had a TV. The other room nothing. Had to go through the main house to reach the childrens room. Weird unpainted hastily constucted (DIY-ish?) door to children's room. It really felt like staying in a construction site. Had no interaction with our host? (Owner). Will never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone. Would suggest that owner goes on elementary B&B course to hone his lacking skills.

Accommodation at Millstream Inn Guest House comprises executive self-catering rooms, which are tastefully decorated. These rooms are equipped with queen-size beds, and an en-suite shower or bath, basin, and toilet. Rooms 1, 2 and 3 each feature a kitchen with appliances for self-catering purposes while Rooms 6 and 5 have kitchens on the patio with a stove, cutlery, pots, pans, a microwave, braai and fridge. Each room has a TV with selected DStv channels for media entertainment.
Each room has its own braai facilities for guests to use, and there is secure parking available for vehicles. Millstream Inn Guest House is within close proximity of conferencing and wedding facilities, as well as various indoor and out activities. The property is surrounded by Pecan nut trees and lucerne and overlooks the Magalies mountains. Very nice dams on the property and picnics can be held there. We can also do small wedding venues. Guests can also fish on a catch and release basis in the dams.
For the children there are huge lawns and many trees. The dams has ducks and fish and many bird species. Chickens and rabbits roam all over. There is one human friendly ostrich and sheep with baby lams. Guests will be over looking the Magalies mountains.
There is an well-known heath spa 800 m away. Breakfasts, lunches and dinners can be ordered from a well-known restaurant and be delivered to you. Menus are in the rooms. Millstream Inn can arrange game drives to a nearby lodge to see the big five and have a nice lunch at the lodge. Guests will be collected at Millstream Inn and be delivered back again at a very attractive price.
Come and enjoy a gourmet picnic basket on the sprawling lawns overlooking the Magalies mountains next to one of the dams on Millstream Inn property. Picnic blankets with cushions and umbrellas are part of a romantic picnic on our property. Picnic treats include assortment of salads, cheese, cold meats, breads, and you'll even have your own braai with your choice of meats with a basket.
You can enjoy your own bottle of ice cold sparkling wine and finish off your meal with a dessert.
