Peaceful and relaxing.
Safe area/parking, clean and tidy place, quiet and very nice views.
The biggest requirement is that everything must be clean. Everything was 100%. The garden and surroundings are beautiful!

We enjoyed our walks on the farm accompanied by the most playful dogs. Modderkloof Farm is absolutely breathtaking. Load shedding did not put a damper on our stay as they have solar panels as well as a gas stove, which was extremely grateful for. The unit was super clean - "jy kon van die vloer af eet.". We felt very safe as Modderkloof is a gated farm. The staff is just as friendly as the hosts.

We enjoyed our stay at Modderkloof Farm Accommodation so much. The kids could play, and I did not have to stress about them at all. The pool and facilities are great, and we enjoyed sitting on the porch and having a braai as well. We will definitely be coming again.
The apartment/house we stayed in was nice and big and we enjoyed the stay. The gardens on the farm are also very beautiful! One will definitely be able to vacation here for longer than a weekend.

Lovely spacious room and bathroom - clean and tidy.
Felt safe, was a busy wedding weekend so did not spend much time on the farm. Surprised at the 'leaking' oak trees, hope the sticky drops wash off the car easily. Maybe all oak trees 'rain' not sure, but still wonderful surroundings.
We spent three nights at Modderkloof in the Studio Apartment. The apartment was spacious with everything you need. The farm is close to the highway and driving to Stellenbosch or Riebeeck Kasteel was easy. We went on lovely evening hikes up the valley (accompanied by some of the farm dogs), through vineyards and fruit trees and with amazing views of the surrounding mountains and farms.

The entire farm with its vineyards, orchards and trails was absolutely beautiful. The view that we had to the mountains was absolutely breathtaking. The accommodation had many interesting antiques dating back to 1820s and its history was well relayed to us it appears that it is 5th generation family accommodation. On our walks we were escorted by their boxer dog called Silka. I was not too far out of the city and the travel time to and fro was less than 1 hour. It was just so peaceful. I will definitely visit there again. Marike the hostess was funny and friendly but did not intrude upon us. We felt like we were there alone. Everything that had to be there was and in working order. It was great.

Perfect for our 1 night stay. Lovely garden and great patio, even allowed our friends from Cape Town to join us for a braai. Unfortunately the shower was blocked and toilet did not flush properly. The air-con a bit noisy. Had pots and pans but no cooker top, only a microwave.

The unit has everything one needs in a self-catering unit on the beautiful fruit farm where the friendly Grobbelaar couple welcomed us. We had a great night there and would have liked to stay longer.
It is so beautiful and peaceful in the highlands. It doesn't feel like a hotel at all, but rather like you're visiting the family farm. Attention was paid when the place was set up: fresh flowers, salt and pepper, enough seating, warm blankets and good linen and towels. Bonus points: morning sun while you are still in bed, farm dogs that come to greet you when you sit outside and the most beautiful view from the veranda.
Our stay was very comfortable and we had a lovely view of the mountains. The accommodation was very clean and there was everything available for self-catering. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Very neat! We attended a wedding at Ashanti Estate and Modderkloof was close to the wedding and convenient! Classy, cute accommodation and friendly people.
Thanks to the awesome hosts, Marike and Willem, they have a beautiful farm and the accommodation was neat, clean and extra touches made our stay so wonderful! We enjoyed a lovely walk on the guava orchard and the kids were most entertained by the sheep. My 6 year old son absolutely loved the foosball table and we enjoyed hours of playtime. Breakfasts overlooking the farm could not be more idyllic. Our family absolutely fell in love with the big fireplace and spent our evenings enjoying game time in front of the warmth especially on the one rainy night. Marike and Willem have an awesome balance of being available when needed and are most accommodating without infringing on a holiday makers space.
