29 guests' feedbackThe host was welcoming. We arrived late, but he made arrangements for us to pick up the key from another place.
We really enjoyed staying in Mona cottage. The village's old-world atmosphere immediately made us feel welcome and really made us feel part of its rich history. The cottage is extremely comfortable with everything one needs for a carefree stay. The kitchen is well equipped, making it easy to prepare meals yourself if you prefer to stay in. We also made a couple of trips to Graskop and Hazyview from Pilgrimsrus, and the drive was quick and easy. The location of the cottage is therefore ideal for those wishing to explore the surrounding area. The only advice I can give to future guests is to note that almost all the restaurants in Pilgrimsrus close by 4pm. If you want to go out for dinner, the Royal Hotel is a good option, otherwise you can cater for yourself in the cottage. It is a great place for a peaceful break and to experience the history of the town. We will definitely come back again!

Me, my husband and parents had a wonderful stay. The surroundings are beautiful and the cottage's decor is so beautiful, a combination of old and modern. The host was fantastic and made us feel very welcome. We knew ahead of time that there was no sitting/TV room, so we had a great time on the stoep or at the table in the front garden and had a nice barbecue. Will definitely visit the cottage again. It was also much larger than I originally expected. It is quiet, safe and beautiful.

What a pleasure it was to stay at Mona Cottage. Mike was helpful and very friendly and pointed everything out nicely. They even made my little dog feel at home with a pack of treats. Very tidy, warm atmosphere and equipped with everything that was needed. They took precautions for loadshedding. It's quiet and peaceful and we never felt unsafe. Have a great time, you will see us again in the future.

The guest house is painfully neat and clean. There are more amenities than we were used to at other hole houses. He kindly assisted us and also gave us advice about the accident.

Mona Cottage impressed us so much, there is not too much more we can say. The owner was very helpful, gave us a tour and shared a lot of useful information about the town - he is also an expert when it comes to the history of this town. We really enjoyed our time there and would absolutely go again.
We are a young family with 4 children. The unit is well equipped with very nice, old stylish furniture. You only need to pack your clothes, the rest is already provided. Mike, the owner, looked after us very well and is also the person to ask if you want to know anything about the town.
Clean and well-appointed cottage. Extremely comfortable beds and great bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Great location. My only recommendation would be a few comfortable, well-padded camping chairs that could be used outside or inside, given that there is no lounge.
Enjoyed the stay - had a few issues. 1) The cottage smelt very musty and the en-suite bathroom had a dehumidifier running. The shower and surrounding wall had visible damp and mould problems. The second bathroom had no ventilation, as the window has been screwed closed. The kitchen and dining room windows were also screwed closed. If mesh screens were fitted to all windows, they could remain open and get rid of the musty odour. 2) The toilet paper provided was poor quality, 1-ply, not 2-ply as expected in a four-star establishment.

Mona Cottage is full of character, but also tastefully furnished. Everything was spotlessly clean and the host was very helpful with requests. Excellent location, walking distance to the old hotel and also the other attractions in town. From here you can visit the whole area.

Mona Cottage has been wonderfully renovated and the décor takes you back in time. The cottage has all one needs and is so well located to explore Pilgrim's Rest and the wonderful sites in the area, like Graskop, Hazyview and even Kruger Park. Well worth a visit.
Best accommodation on Pilgrimsrus. Will definitely stay here again. It's just too bad there isn't a living room. There is nowhere to curl up with a book or glass of wine except on the bed or the dining room chairs. Without a comfortable couch and a coffee table, that little something that makes it a home is missing. I would say one of the front rooms had to be a living room. Furthermore, it is great accommodation with beautiful furniture, a lovely kitchen and comfortable beds.
Not very busy since we went in November, but was a very peaceful place.
The host was super helpful. The cottage was well stocked, very neat and absolutely charming. This is a recommendation for friends as well as future trips.
The cottage is lovely and it was exactly as it was advertised. We also loved the service we got from Mike and Eva. My family cannot wait to visit again.
