The large chalets have 3 separate bedrooms, along with the same equipment and facilities. Linen is provided; guests are required to bring their own towels.
There are 22 camps sites all with electricity and clean ablutions. Each caravan contains a fridge, a gas stove, cutlery, and kitchen utensils. Both ablution blocks serve the caravans, although some caravans do have their own private bathroom and toilet. Guests are required to bring their own bedding and towels for camping.
Guests can take a dip in the swimming pool, or relax on the grassy lawn while soaking up the sun. Apart from boating and fishing on the lagoon, guests can also enjoy walkways along the lagoon. Shops, public telephones, and service stations can be found nearby.

It was absolutely amazing. The lady at reception was absolutely incredible, very welcoming and kind. We didn't have blankets, and they provided us with some duvets that kept us warm throughout our stay. We really enjoyed our stay. The kids had an amazing time.

Yes, we did. The accommodation could be upgraded just a bit. The toilet was not ready and the table on the deck was dirty.
The advertisement and the reality are not the same. There is only a 'fitted sheet' on the bed. So take all bedding. There is no bathroom in the caravan cabin. It's a bit of a walk to the bathrooms. The shower ran out of water the first night. The other nights it was fine. The units have mugs, knives, cutlery and some pots. It is perfect for camping, if you are aware that you will be camping.
We had a nice stay, but I think the units could be upgraded for the bathroom. Our bath had a beginning to sag in a corner and it was obvious that it had been that way for years. For R200 a day more I got DSTV and got a bigger cottage at Woodbourne in Knysna.
The booking only said to bring blankets, there are no pillows. Sleep without a pillow. No TV in apartments. Bathrooms are very far away if you have to go at night. So using the bathroom is not safe. The pool closes at 8pm, so you can't swim or watch TV. Now you still have to go to sleep on a bed without pillows. No WiFi, no lights for load shedding. The price for it is pathetic compared to other places in town with more convenient conditions.
Clean and tidy houses, warm and spacious had a good time visiting and sleeping.

Had our family reunion here, was a great stay, just did not appreciate treating me as if I had not made a payment and discussing my business with the entire family group without discussing it with me first. But other than that, no complaints.
This has always been one of our preferred destinations since 1983. Still one of the best camping sites.
Monks are more for camping lovers. Not really ideal for travelling with young children as the bathroom and ablution facilities are outside of cabins. Luckily we were not too far from those facilities as it was raining too.

It's the ideal place for older people to visit, but not if you have young children. No music is allowed, so older children get quite bored.
I would be able to recommend it, but I myself would not simply stay there again. It was also terribly hot with no fan. The caravan chalets are in urgent need of renovation, grounds and facilities very tidy.
The inside of the cabins look rather dingy and old. I was expecting a little bit more.
We were very disappointed in the caravan park as the photos and price for the cottage do not accurately represent the reality. There was also no hot water as both gas bottles for the houses were empty.

It was ok. I only feel that there are too many rules and regulations you can't do this or that etc. the Saturday the kids played in the swimming pool the kids were told not to splash as kids normally do. The lady told my kids if they people don't stop she will close this pool.

Very beautiful park. Park need some CCTV Cameras to secure safety ,electric fence will not be enough. We were not sure if our personnel belongings inside the cabin was safe. Insert burglar bars. Additional night-flood lights will help. Maybe a gate security will be an advantage. We could not use our 2nd cabin out of fear of intruders as we had teenagers to sleep in the cabin and it was distant from the first cabin.

The log cabins and caravans can be upgraded, they are very old, and also the furniture. This will improve the cleanliness.
The unit and facilities were very neat and clean, but the unit is very dilapidated, floorboards were very unstable, on the first day one floorboard was broken and they came to fix it while we were not there, without informing us. light. On the second day another floorboard broke and we reported it to the worker. It was not fixed the whole holiday. I would suggest that the holiday place is advertised for older people and not for families with children. Since not much can be done. For someone who wants absolute silence, this is the place to book.

Monks Holiday Chalets surpassed my expectations. The friendly staff immediately made us feel at home. The resort is really the right place for someone looking for peace and quiet. Everything was super neat. The abundance vegetation really contributes to the peaceful environment. I will definitely visit again in the future or just for a getaway weekend. As we were a group of 10 adults and 1 child, we found the one bedroom chalets, which were meant for 5 guests, a bit on the small side for all of us. So 2 of us ended up sleeping in the back of the bakkie which has its own mattress. Apart from that, we enjoyed the stay. A big plus was that music was banned, otherwise we wouldn't have had any peace if there were music coming from each camp stand.
Excellent reception, were supposed to camp, but when we checked in it was raining lightly and the hostess didn't hesitate to let us stay in a caravan! Very friendly service!
