We had a very nice stay. The staff was friendly and we had marvellous neighbours. Not even the rain kept us indoors. It's also very safe; we could leave our doors open when taking a walk.
This was our first time and surely not our last. We really had a fantastic time and the kids had a blast. The warm water pool was fantastic and the chalet had everything we needed, so we really had a good time.
Thank you. The time was very pleasant. We really enjoyed it and will definitely visit again in the future.
Very family oriented. Fun for kids, sunny weather in winter was great.
Pleasantly surprised. Clean, warm pools, layout of Montagu Springs on lawns around warm pools by river is even more beautiful than it sounds. A few previous reviews had led us to expect less, but we were pleasantly surprised.
It was wonderful and nice.
Staff and management are friendly and very helpful. Would go again anytime and this is a must for those who want to relax.
Loads of fun if you want a campsite type of feel but don't need to stay in a tent in winter. Stay in the Montagu Springs hotel if you want to use the main springs- we stayed in a Plettenberg chalet. Staff amazingly helpful. Kids loved it.
The chalet had everything we needed. Service at the reception was very helpful and friendly. The heated pool was amazing.
It was a wonderful weekend that I could spend with my family.
Very relaxing. Good location, good facilities.
Very restful and quiet. Enjoyed our stay.
Always love staying at Montagu Springs because the kids love it.
Hi everything was neat and perfect we felt at home.
Enjoyed it, thank you.
Very nice. Just a recommendation that an extra mattress could have been provided for kids as they had to sleep on the couch as we did not have space in the car for a blow-up mattress.
It was fantastic. Kids loved the pools and games. It was also relaxing for me.
We had a great stay and the children loved the facilities offered.
We had a very nice stay. Everything is so peaceful.
We had a very nice stay and experienced no problems. It was very peaceful and we enjoyed nature a lot.
Our stay was relatively good.
My partner and family enjoyed ourselves! Definitely a place we will return to.
Very pleasant stay, the place is safe to walk around late at night and all facilities are in working order. Only the WiFi was a bit of a problem.
Our stay was pleasant, the unit was clean and big enough for our short stay. Everything was provided in the unit; we only needed to bring ourselves, food, and swim towels. Thank you.
It was lovely, but the room's bed was broken. Only had 3 pots and the mattress was broken. Slept very uncomfortably.
Relax and stay.
Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked a cottage at Montagu Springs but were given a different cottage. My teenage son did not fit on his bed. The bunk beds are not suitable for teenagers. The space was too small. The bathroom was very small. My husband and son were very unhappy because they could not move properly in the bathroom. My teenager's head kept hitting the ceiling when he was on the bed. He says the bed feels nice and soft to sleep on, but the space was too small to comfortably get on and off the bed. My 4 year old liked her bunk bed because it was literally on the ground and she could get in and out easily. And the fact that you have to pay extra to use the hot pool is pathetic. Everything on the premises must be free for guests.
Excellent, relaxing, peaceful.
Stay was excellent. Will definitely go again.
I loved the peacefulness, the toilet shower was too small, and the warm pool was too small for everyone at once. Why must you pay for the warm pool?
Yes, a lot! The freezer part of the fridge was frozen and we couldn't get it open. WiFi/internet could not work well either. Child really enjoyed it, especially the room where he could sleep on his cot!
Montagu Springs should really look at the standard of their accommodation and compare it to tariffs. In future, I would book a Mountain Chalet at Avalon and just add the extra few thousands. At least I would get comfort out of my stay. That's the main reason we leave the comfort of our homes, to go on vacation expecting luxury and comfort. We pay for it. The 4-plate stove in our terrace took forever to heat up, the light bulbs were flickering all the time, and the towel rail in the toilet kept coming out of the wall. It's the little things that should be seen to.
Was relaxing in beautiful surroundings. Safe and entertaining for children.
Amazing, peaceful and very relaxing.
The shower door in unit 86 couldn't close. The windows in the bedroom as well as lounge couldn't close. This caused wind to always be in the room, which made it very cold.
The stay was nice my family enjoy the warm pool. The can do better with the wifi. We enjoy the aircon and braai fasilities. We will return.
Good but could have been informed of the dual unit.
Very relaxing. Accommodation was basic but clean, and the resort was perfect for kids who could play tennis, soccer, or swim. We enjoyed lovely hikes and quiet time.
Yes, I had a nice stay. Thank you very much.
The stay was pleasant and peaceful.
Had a very peaceful time and more than enough facilities to keep children busy.
The large Plettenberg unit was a tight squeeze for a family of 4. But we had everything we needed for a winter weekend breakaway.
Nice stay in the Montagu Springs area. The other areas on the resort seem a bit not up to standard. The lower parts are broken and it seems as if the maintenance is not done well. There are also no barbecue grills. Take your own one with you.
The stay was excellent, and the pools were fantastic. It would have been nice to know beforehand that the venue does not have backup power and is subject to load shedding. The accommodation is in drastic need of renovation to bring it out of the 90s look and feel. Otherwise, a nice place to stay, and we will come back.
It was very nice. Super nice place. Didn't want to go home.
Stay was good. I do feel that after so many years the chalets can get a bit of a facelift. We also feel that washing up and drying up cloths should be provided. The newly renovated accommodation also took away the enjoyment of paying to spend the day, which made us feel segregated from the hotel guests. We will not use this option again as we felt like outsiders despite paying R135 per person to swim in hot water, but then being told you can't go here, you can't go there. Wasted money and spoiled experience.
This establishment is definitely not up to resort standards. It felt like I was transported back to the 80s. The unit needs a serious upgrade. The temperature knob of the fridge was broken, and only 1 of the 4 stove plates was working. The functioning stove plate was very weak. The bathroom had an old smell, and the shower had lots of mould. The unit can get very hot, and the weak air-conditioning does not do much justice. Rules of the resort are not enforced, attracting an undisciplined calibre of guests. The establishment looks very run down. You only get 1GB of Wi-Fi. Once depleted you need to buy Wi-Fi. To drive almost 3 hours out of Cape Town to stay in an outdated unit with only a shared pool as a highlight is not worth it.
When we arrived, our unit smelled terrible (old oil and cigarettes) and we could see that there is a lot of wear and tear (stains, furniture in bad condition). The kitchen blinds were completely broken, and we had no privacy. The bedrooms were the only space that was neat and clean. Thank God. We reported it, but nothing was done about it. My husband got sick, and staff popped in and saw how badly damaged the kitchen blinds were. Definitely not the standard that we have as a family.
Our chalet looked like a shack inside. Broken curtains. Damaged stove. Duct taped floors. The couch looked like 20 cats had a party on it. Torn! The lovely staff then moved me to a slightly better unit after I called to complain. The website pictures are deceiving. There were no cloths to even wash dishes!
We had a good stay. Only there is no way to reach the staff when you need them, like at night. We woke up at 3am to find young men smoking, drinking, and talking loudly in the park. We were a bit worried but didn't know how to reach security to inform them. Then we stayed up until they left, went to bed, only for them to come back after a few minutes. But the place was nice. Thanks.
The chalets are so outdated and unsafe for younger kids (bad state of chalets). The curtains are damaged, the bottom of the chalets is broken, and pipes are exposed. In actual fact, the chalets shouldn't even be rented out. We complained about the state of the chalet, and the manager gave us alternate accommodation, which was better but also not up to the standard that we are used to. Paying so much for accommodation and then still having to pay for the pools daily is quite annoying. The outside maintenance is very nice, and the place has a lot of potential to be great, but that requires the chalets to be renovated. The day spent at Avalon Springs (which is also expensive) made up for the whole vacation. Montagu Springs could take some tips from another place where you pay less for awesome accommodation (which includes daily cleaning service), pools, putt putt (refundable deposit), and slides at no extra cost.
Didn't stay there at all. Only the handles were available to us, the rest was locked. The spot needs a lot of work and is very small and against the stream where excavation is being done.
The accommodation was perfect, and the staff was excellent and friendly.
Will definitely be returning soon.
The apartment's kitchen was better equipped than most similar accommodation (in terms of cutlery, crockery etc) and there are plenty of wardrobes in the bedrooms. Comfortable beds.
It was a good break away from home. It was just unfortunately load shedding but the views made up for that and there was a gas stove available which didn't hinder us from any cooking and meal prep.
On arrival there were 2 houses booked. I only book 1 house. So I'm still hoping for a refund of 1 house that was booked.
Was perfect for my money. Would come again.
We loved all the activities that one could do.
Enjoyed every moment.
We had a great stay at Montagu Springs. The wife and the small one enjoyed themselves and definitely will return.
With the website's discount it was truly worth it. Very nice stay and is central to explore the area.
It was very nice. Our chalet was right by the pools, so with small children you could sit on the veranda in the summer and watch them swim! It was delicious and safe!
Its a friendly and peaceful environment. The weather was wonderful.
Montagu springs is a must see. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the chalets are very clean with excellent bedding and great matrasses. The kitchens are fitted with everything you would need. From butter knives to candle holders. There is aircon in all the units making it very pleasant in excessive heat. The pools are in sterling condition.
Enjoyed the big sized cold pool. Warm pool a bit on the small side so landed up also paying day visitor fees for Avalon Springs to use their warm pools. All in all enjoyed the stay.
Myself and my family enjoyed the stay, the only problem is that they should provide dish cloths and dry cloths, there was no hot water to bath or shower. We had to put on the kettle for hot water to wash other than that the place is fantastic, play park for kids my kids enjoyed it. The view of the mountain is amazing. The hot water pool is good. Nice facilities like the tennis court and football pitch and even bikes are good to have. The reception people are very friendly and understanding.
Clean and spacious. Resort well maintained and was nice and quiet because out of season.
Showering was a concern as the water temperature could not be balanced either extremely hot or suddenly cold. The tap in the shower was a concern.
It's always nice to wake up in a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. When you step out onto the porch you look out at a mountain view. It's wonderful to experience the beautiful nature like this.
Surrounding area also worth visiting.
Had a relaxing overnight stay. Very enjoyable.
Rather disappointed a bit run down. we stayed in no 85 there were holes in the curtians in both the lounge and the bed room. the lounge bench cusions were thread worn. the park home seem to lean to one side (if you dropped something it would roll to the left). but the stove cutlery and crockery nice. bedding clean. nice hot water and good pressure. bath also needs to be changed. the plastic is pealing.
There isn't anything else to say. It was exactly what we were looking for.
The location is perfect. The pricing at the bar is just a bit too much. But everything else is good. Especially the aircon in each room including the lounge. However please take along your own clothing iron. We had an amazing stay the only sad part was packing up to leave. All the workers from the security to the cleaner to the reception are very well mannered.
You should not have to deal with loadshedding while on holiday.
It had been very nice, just to be in nature to explore another town. We will definitely visit them again.
Cottage can be equipped more modern.
Can recommend Montagu Spring to anyone. Holiday there was incredibly nice as there was free access to swimming pools due to of load shedding. Will definitely go again.
The registration process went smoothly. The only inconvenience is that one has to go to the office every day to get a wristband to enter the pools. The living quarters are handsome, but comfortable and clean. There was ample parking near the cottage. An air conditioner and nice big porch to sit on made the visit more pleasant. The layout, grass and gardens are excellent and well maintained.
We are so happy with the good service we received and the unit was amazing for us. We enjoyed it and I will definitely come again.
Tranquility between the mountains definitely a plus.
Comfortable, safe and quiet.
A) The parking by Josmont Heights is very small. Not suitable for bigger vehicles. b) Wi-Fi reception of all Networks is problematic. c) Separation of the smaller warm baths. Far too few for the number of people, the Resort accommodates. The paid-for warm baths are equally too small for the number of people. d) Restaurant served good food, but the fried potato chips served at Springs Hotel need urgent urgent upgrading. Otherwise a nice breakaway.
The stay was pleasant. The chalets are a bit outdated, but meets the basic needs in that they have what one needs for a quick family getaway. I would add a light when load-shedding hits, but other than that, it was ample for what we needed.
Was very relaxing. Swimming pools were a bit colder than normal due to load shedding.
We enjoyed ourselves as a family and the nature is indescribable. Thank you very much.
Stay was nice except 1 of the houses was not up to standard at all, little hot water and beds' mattresses very soft, big disappointment.
Calm atmosphere and child friendly.
Quiet and value for money. The view was breathtaking. I really enjoyed the place.
Had a great time. Aircon helped a lot in the cold. The workers were very helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately, our towels were stolen off the washing line. Very sad though to think people would come to a resort to steal other people's belongings. The accommodation definitely needs an upgrade. It's been like this for the past 30 years.
Good facilities and very clean.
Hot pools not in operation due to maintenance. Very compact unit. Toilet and shower extremely cramped, toilet itself was not 100% right. Type of a gas smell in unit. Aircon also out of order.
I think the resort is quite well located, but one can see that the resort has been there for a few years and is starting to show its age. The accommodation is not really one of the best we have ever stayed in. The housing is basically "container" houses with little space and your neighbor's house a few meters away. The gas stove (oven), works "just barely" and is very old. The hot pool is not very hot, and it was explained to us that "load shedding" and the weather affects it. You can walk to Avalon Springs for their swimming pools, but then it costs R100 per person per day. For a family of 4, it becomes an expensive story.
We've been bitten by bedbugs!
Was mostly short-circuited by shortage of electricity. The site was pitch dark during load shedding. The tree branches above the roof touched the roof with strong wind.
The resort is outdated and the warm pool is so small and cold due to load shedding. Montague Gardens campers can also not use the large pool at Avalon Springs and have to pay R100 per day per person to access the pools at Avalon Springs and R15 at Montague Springs. If you visit in the winter make sure to take a cabin that gets more sun. Our cabin got no sun and it was freezing.
The chalet had everything we required, and the inside of the chalet was clean. However, the braai was filthy. Luckily, we brought our own braai equipment. The chalet desperately needs a refurbishment. I don't think anything has been upgraded since the unit was built. The shower was difficult to operate, and we couldn't get a happy medium in terms of water temperature. The handle of the hot water tap was also broken and kept on falling off. Their website does not mention that their residents do not have access to Avalon Springs on weekends at this stage and limited access during the week. You would then also be visiting a construction site with about 20 workers around the pool.
Don't go there when it's Loadshedding.
Pathetic is the word.
I went there for the natural hot water springs only to find out that Avalon Springs is natural hot springs and Montagu Springs is heated water. Should have a label "made in China". This heating is obviously affected by loadshedding. When asked what they provide for loadshedding, we are told candles, bring your own. They only supply the holders. Everything inside the chalets dates back to the 90s. To add insult to injury, you must pay for the fake "spring". The pics only show the nice braai on the patio upstairs, not the dingy cold and isolated one I got out back with the ground unit. To think, I might have to go back there for work at the end of the month. Very disappointing. Must add though that the staff are super helpful and pleasant to speak to.
No candles or provisions for loadshedding. Workers smoke you out of the place.
The condition of the chalets does not justify the price. Renovation is needed.
Kitchen taps and shower does not work simultaneously. No mop provided in unit to dry floors upon returning from pools. No rails at smaller pools. Customer service upon checking out, was not a pleasant experience. WiFi is the worst ever.
A few shortcomings: The toilet was loose and the handle wouldn't push back. The bed was hard and creaked when you turned over. The banks' sponges have been put through. The backs of the curtains are broken. The porch is covered. The enclosed parts below around the houses are broken. Bathroom is as big as a closet in the one house. No towels or candles for load shedding. It is definitely not up to standard - we are very disappointed with the accommodation.
The house number we got was so close to the fence there was houses open for our stay that we requested to be moved to near our family and friends but we were declined.
The hot water did not work so we couldn't shower the first evening. After reporting it to reception they sent the security and only after complaining the second time did they sent the maintenance person to come have a look. . There is no provision made for loadshedding. Not inside nor outside. Instead visitors are told to bring their own lights. The wifi is 1Gig per person for the whole weekend which is very little. . The bedding smelled like motballs.
Accommodation needs some serious TLC, it was not cleaned properly and the toilets required some serious disinfecting when we arrived. We did not make a fuss about it as we were already there all the way from CPT so we just decided to clean the place ourselves so we could enjoy a comfortable stay. The shower was mouldy and dirty which we also tried to clean with some of our own Domestos just to ensure that we at least have a shower that was somewhat clean and not grimy. I would not recommend this place to any family members or friends. Also, it was not advertised that their hot pool is not in proper working condition when we booked which was very disappointing, it was dirty for most of our stay and we decided not to use it, not sure how often they clean the hot pool seeing that it's being used the most as the normal pool water was freezing cold.
The couches in the living room were very dirty. There were no candles or lights as backup for loadshedding. No gas stove for when it's loadshedding. You could only drink your first cup of coffee as soon as the electricity came on. The guests should be informed to bring their own lights. Swimming pools not very clean either.
It had been breathtaking. The waters were fantastic. The atmosphere was nice and the people at the reception gave us very friendly and good service. Will definitely come to Montagu again.
Very nice and peaceful.
My guys were very happy and comfortable. When I had a look inside for the last time I fetched them they had made all the beds and the place was spotless.
Except for loadshedding we had a great stay. As usual the staff is very friendly. Will definitely be back.
Everything was good, awesome vibes. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.
My husband and I enjoyed the stay. We loved the peace.
I am very, very satisfied. Everything was fine, I was there when I was just married, only for 1 day and now again. Thank you very much again.
It's a very beautiful place. Had an awesome time. Thanks so much.
See stars.
It was value for money. Customer service was good.
On arrival the people were very friendly. Our chalet was neat and clean. Our surroundings was also very neat. I will definitely be back.
The unit was very private and loved the patio with braai area. Will definitely be back. The staff was very helpful as well.
Our stay at Montagu Springs was 100% satisfactory.
Always most helpful workers. Place is always clean. Enjoy Josmont Heights 100%.
We enjoyed the tranquility, very nice place and will definitely visit again.
We had a good stay relaxing environment. I enjoyed the privacy. Will definitely come back.
It was really a nice family vacation. I will be booking soon for 2023. Chalet 12 is the best when there's kids. The curtains should juts be changed in chalet 12. It has holes and is visible from the outside when looking in. We didn't mind just bringing it to your attention. Our weekend was super awesome and we definitely will be back 2023 in that same chalet.
Everything was just perfect from the friendly security, admin staff right down to the unit which was very neat and fresh. I experienced just one hiccup which was on arrival we found that my book-in time was not listed hence security was unaware but that was a minor issue as he quickly and professionally handled it in getting us sorted.
The place is fantastic. From the hot tubs to the atmosphere and play park for children. This is the perfect getaway. The houses are neat and intimate. Love it.
Family would love to return. We loved it.
It is good. For winter should give nightgown after swimming.
Very nice trees and scenery. Recommendation to visit.
The atmosphere is very nice, the tranquility and waking up and hearing the birds, it's amazing and meeting new people is super nice.
Arrival was good, accommodation excellent and security fantastic.
Still waiting for a WhatsApp number to send photos to.
1. The braai is not rain proof and I have emailed reception to find out if it is rain proof. The Braai area is on the lower level and it has no view. We used our own tongs. The view was bushes and bushes. 2. The double bed mattress in the main room is in a poorly used condition. 3. No DStv and/or TV all weekend. We tried 5 times to get it to work, but the load shedding and the poor WiFi made it not work. We have to move around for signal. MTN did not want to collect at all. 4. The sink in the kitchen's water does not want to run out. My husband had to unplug the knob so I could wash the dishes. 5. We couldn't do the hiking trail up the mountain.
It was a peaceful environment, but cottages need some attention (upgrading) especially the bathroom. Table on porch was full of burn holes.
Upon arrival we were sent from tree to tree. We were there a little past 17h00 and there was no reception in sight. The guard on duty gave us the keys. The room booked for us was 2 adults and 2 children unit and we were 4 adults. The guard went to show us a larger house which looked so cramped and musty that no one would survive there. Then found another more suitable house for the night's sleep. The guard on duty Rulf/Dulf, unsure of his name, tried to help us to the best of his ability.
This place totally isn't worth staying at at all. Reception is rude and not very helpful, apartment was not up to standard. Chipped dishes. Air-cons didn't work in the room. Lights flickered and went off in the main bedroom. Bedside lamps didn't work. Beds were uncomfortable. Lounge sofas were scuffed and looked so bad that one didn't feel like sitting on it. Towels had holes. Cleaning service not available due to Covid. Please save your money and stay elsewhere.
Located in beautiful surroundings, with fun activities to participate in. Can also just relax and do nothing or bask in the sun. Friendly and helpful staff.
Idyllic setting for a break.
My little one enjoyed the park and the little soccer area as it was opposite our chalet. I like how safe the resort felt and you are completely surrounded by nature. Spar and Shoprite and not too far away from the resort, was very good to know this as I needed a few things. But overall it was a pleasant stay.
Good value for money during weekdays and off peak. A bit expensive over the weekends and peak periods. Nice resort for a family getaway. The bathroom is tiny but manageable. Heated pools were amazing and were one of the main attractions.
Old and used a lot of accommodation. Needs a serious upgrade.
Wonderful resort for familie and friends. Is child friendly. Also has nice facilities to keep everyone entertained.
Our stay was comfortable. Our sleep was disturbed by noisy and inconsiderate neighbors, which was not the resort’s fault, but did obviously affect our stay there.

Beautiful location but the prefab units need a serious update and more assistance from reception when changes occur would be helpful.
We especially enjoyed the hot tub. We just feel that the price that was paid for chalets was totally out of the question. The reason for that is the shower is broken, the hot water turns itself off and then on again, the bathroom and rooms are very small, you can't even move, the toilet itself is in bad condition, the faucet of the shower is also broken. We might as well have slept outside, also think about replacing your kitchen equipment because it's really done. All I can say is the hot tub was good and we enjoyed it.
Wifi very weak and hot water was not very hot.
No cleaning service, extremely high cost for access to warm water pool. Noise pollution and disturbances late in the night very irritating.
Beautiful view from our apartment, spacious place, with many facilities, clean and covid free apartment, parking area just too small for 2 vehicles, had to use farthest parking. Resort safe.
We really enjoyed the time. The hot water bath was very nice.
Our stay were perfect, our kids were safe and we as parents could relax well they were playing. The place/grounds were cleaned everyday. Would definitely come back.
Clean, tidy and excellent service from reception to the general workers.
It was everything we wanted and needed. Relaxing and so much fun.
Our children did not want to leave Montagu Springs. Definitely a place to relax!
Was very nice. Customer service was top notch. 100%
Everything was as it's suppose to be.
The stay was amazing. We as a family did not want to leave. The staff are so friendly and helpful and the place is so peaceful and relaxing. We are definitely going back soon.
Would like to use accommodation again in the future.
Friendly and helpful.
The helpful staff make you feel right at home.
Beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Perfect to recharge your batteries and get out there fresh.
The villas provide good accommodation, especially where there are small children.
The pools are fantastic. The houses, lawn, park, walking route and everything.
The cottages are basic but have everything needed. The play park is great for small children and the astro track and tennis courts kept the kids well occupied.
There were a lot of cockroaches in our house and when I asked about the baby pool that has duck poo. In the morning I was told my children can swim just so I must just wipe their skin, which was very disappointing but other than that we had a great time thank you.
Dilapidated and lacking attention.
Please tell guests of towels.
Was a great place for the kids to play and swim. Very neat and clean.
Excellent service and the staff were always accommodating of our ever changing needs the one set back though was that the water was off one day due to theft off water pipes which inconvenienced all the members in the resort.
It was a pleasure to relax at Montagu Springs. Especially in the hot spring pool. Site clean with friendly staff.
Will visit the Springs again anytime! Really enjoyed it!
Amazing time spent at Montagu springs. Will surely be booking soon.
Nice and peaceful and fun for our children.
Montagu Springs is very family friendly where the kids have a safe environment to play with a variety of daily activities.
We stayed in Josmont Heights. Gauteng friends taken out for a few days. Place was ready and clean. I had a stupid problem with the TV and was helped within 5 minutes of contacting security after hours. Everyone from the manager, ladies at the counter, cleaners and security were very friendly and helpful. Pool was wonderfully warm and clean. We will always go back again without thinking twice.
Thank you to one & all at Montagu Springs for making our brief breakaway a most pleasant experience. The getaway from the hustle & bustle of the city life was indeed gratifying.
We had a small unit, but is was very well equipped. The children had freedom to run and had lots of fun.
Beautiful setting, lovely accommodation (Josmont Heights), private, everything you could need. Gorgeous springs at Avalon and fun for the children in the playground and enormous cold pool.
Always a great experience and enjoyable for young and old.
It was nice and quiet, and felt safe.
It was my first time with you and it is my new holiday spot.
The resort was quiet in the middle of the week. The staff were very friendly and fluent in Afrikaans. It was a nice experience to visit there.
Nice hot water for bath.
Had a great time for my 1st time.
We enjoyed it to the max! Will be coming soon and will go for a bigger chalet next time. Kids loved it especially.
Value for money and just a break from city life to come and relax.
Will return again but not during school holidays. It will not be peaceful.
Clean and tidy, very comfortable and safe.
Lovely surroundings and beautiful clean baths.
We had a great time with the kids (3 years old). They could run around and have fun. The heated pool should be monitored though to ensure the use for small kids and not adults.
Had a great time. Slightly disappointed that the use of the hot springs was not free.
Our stay was great. The place is beautiful and neat. The facilities were great. It is just the right place if you need time from the city noise.
We were surprised by the good reception and without difficulty we deployed. Clean place and an excellent getaway destination from the busy city life.
Family had an amazing time would love to come back.
Great family location. Highly recommended.
The activities and pool were great for the kids. Not very happy with chalet. Took long fix problems in chalet.
Accommodation needs some maintenance.
Had a wonderful time thanks.
The chalets are standard for the price you pay. Think the couches make a nice cleaning. Blinds in kitchen are 2 pieces out. Otherwise we enjoyed it.
My stay at Montague Springs was excellent. However, we had a problem with the following. The blocked drain and no mop to mop floors. Also whatever they state in their rules about the swimming pools was not true.
See stars.
Area is beautiful and facilities beautiful. However, everything costs extra money. Was somewhat disappointed with accommodation which is very small but well equipped. I believe in summer time it is a nice holiday destination.
It was very quiet and peaceful. The cottages are in desperate need of a makeover, was really scared to shower. And then only unfortunately about extra charges for hot pool. Couldn't go to other hot pools then either.
If you are interested in enjoying the hot water spring pools then do not book your stay at Montagu Springs - they only have normal ambient temp pool with a heated pool that costs an extra amount for your stay. The actual hot spring pools are at Avalon Springs. If you book at Montagu Springs then you are able to enter the Avalon Springs premises at an extra cost per person for your stay.
I left a day earlier. The bathroom is dingy, taps leaking. Eventually it was fixed. The chalet is noisy if anyone decides to get up at night. It had a musty smell, the wooden bed frame squeezed into a small room. We all kept knocking into corners. Reminded me of the 1970s. I should get refunded.
Very nice and relaxing. Even my 2 year old son had a blast of a time. Loved each and every moment of being at Montagu Springs wouldn't mind going again.
The chalets, swimming pool and area were neat. Very peaceful and the location is perfect.
Awesome. Amazing. Thanks.
Our 2nd time at Montagu Springs, very nice, enjoyed our stay every time. We do think they should have one amount for people staying at Montagu to use all pools though.
As a first time visitor to Montagu Springs I would definitely recommend it. Experienced very good service and staff very friendly and approachable.
Our accommodation at Montagu Springs was unbelievable. The fresh air and warm mineral water makes for a fantastic family holiday destination.
Was at the Wacky Wine Fest. Close to all the farms. Most enjoyable.
It's a very beautiful resort or town located in nature and it's the right place to break away from a busy life and witness nature and God's creation.
This is a great venue with something for everyone. There are tasks for runners and hikers, a huge playground for kids, hot and cold pools and water slides for kids, restaurants and a cafe. The accommodation has everything you need, including a full size oven. The braais are cleaned every day, making it utterly convenient if you want to braai every day. We spent hours in the pools and had a wonderful holiday.
Lovely to stay at Montagu Springs.
This place was exactly what I needed and those few days made a big difference. I would really want to go back in future with my family. Thank you guys.
We were a family group of 18. Adults and teenagers. We booked accommodation at the Golden Terraces unit and the Large Plettenberg Chalet. We were very happy clients.
Very relaxing destination offering good choices.
Definitely going back, easy going, kids enjoy the lot.
It was a first for most of the group and everyone had a blast!
The stay was nice, just a shame the chalets are a bit small, old and not so tidy. Will try one of the houses next time.
Montagu Springs is a must for loved ones and families. There is something for everyone to do. It was really a great experience. We will go again for sure.
See stars.
My kids enjoyed it so much. This is really an amazing place for adults and kids.
Really enjoyed stay. Just a pity the hot pool was green. I mean green. Used Avlon's hot springs. Office staff wonderful, friendly, great.
My favourite thing was that you had everything you would need at your disposal, especially when it comes to the kitchen. Even though the weather wasn't all that great there was enough activities to do and really felt like a home away from home, but better. The staff were really very nice in the reception/reservations area and gave me an immediate positive attitude towards the location. It is really the best way to start your holiday when people offer you service with a smile and such attentiveness.
Will definitely visit here again. Chalets are comfortable, despite weathering over the years! Everything works and is tidy and well equipped and safe.
Is just that the content is still very old furniture etc. You can upgrade chalets.
Unit was old but clean. Windows did not all lock. Staff friendly.
Photos of accommodation a bit misleading. Daughter was very excited to feed the ducks as advertised and in the welcome booklet. There arrived at the time indicated, there is 1 duck and no feed. The bartenders at Avalon Springs were very friendly although the people at the little shop "check in" part make you feel like a criminal and make it very clear you are not hotel guests. As if you are actually a burden. Unfortunately.
Had a lovely relaxing few days, went to the hot water pool and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chalet was neat and clean, everything you needed. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Will go back again but this time for longer.
Montagu was a very nice and tranquil getaway and the chalets were clean & tidy.
It was a good break in beautiful and clean surroundings. The staff went out their way to make our stay pleasant.
The Plettenberg was very comfortable and we had a nice stay. Just a pity the cold meant we couldn't use the pool.
Nice and quiet and the warm water of Avalon is calming.
Very nice place to relax and enjoy yourself with friends and family.
I was told towels for toilets would be supplied but I was told to pay R30 as deposit for it. Toilets not in a great condition/air con not even working properly. Warm water pool to small for me.
See stars.
Chalets are falling apart. Stove knobs are off. Chairs are broken. Bedrooms very cramped. Porch railings are held together with a steel cable attached to the roof. My only positive point is the place is very clean, inside and out.
We went 29/10 to 02/11 2018 and it was a really peaceful week, very quiet and beautiful views. We enjoyed the warm pool and park for our child the most. We also loved the fact that the chalet have everything independently like braai area, porch, trees for shade and parking in front of the chalet. What we disliked is the kind of mouldy smell of the chalet, everything is out dated. Curtains had holes in, bedding is very dark can't tell if it's clean because it doesn't have a fresh smell. Shower cap was broken. Microwave sounded like it's about to explode and most of all the chalets don't have an Iron! We asked for assistance and nobody ever came!
I was really excited to visit Montagu Springs, but it is highly unlikely that I will go back. The location is amazing and it is incredibly beautiful. The security staff were friendly and helpful. The Avalon pools are clean and we enjoyed swimming there. That's where it stops. There is no after hour support and everything appears to be delegated to security to resolve. A R50 delivery fee to carry a kiosk order across the parking lot is ridiculous! The Small Plettenberg Chalet is in serious need of attention and proper cleaning. The patio was outright filthy, it seems like it hasn't been cleaned in months. Considering that you still have to pay for access to Avalon pools and the state of accommodation, this is not value for money!
Montagu Springs needs a serious upgrade. There were quite a few things that didn't fully work in the house because it was old.
We also encountered men smoking weed.
All problem I encountered was the additional charges I had to pay for the use of swimming pools. There was no mention of this on the website. If you can provide this for future travelers it would be appreciated.
Overall we had a great time in the Golden Terraces apartment, all facilities were neat and the service excellent. Shall certainly visit again.
We enjoyed it very much.
The fact that we would book here again just confirms how pleasant our experience here was. Even though water wasn't as warm as expected, it didn't spoil our stay. We could walk around as we wished, enjoy nature and the view from our patio.
We enjoyed our stay. I would recommend you to get this place. It's affordable.
The weekend was nice and quiet.
Montague Springs is the ideal family vacation spot, especially if you have kids. It is safe, clean, secure and very tranquil. I am definitely coming again.
Was our 4th wedding anniversary on Valentine's Day. Montagu Springs was the perfect place to be.
Was a nice first time experience, though I can recommend that the lights at the soccer and tennis stay on till later as the boys couldn't play there after sunset.
Montagu Springs is a great destination, we had a blast there, perfect getaway.
We had a fantastic time. The staff was very friendly.
A place where one can fully relax in nature. Enough activities for all age groups. Chalets that have enough space. The hot water pool was heavenly.
Clean, neat and convenient with a stunning view.
Relation to Chalet 88: As far as maintenance is concerned, the guys there might be a bit lax annie sleep: The railing around the chalet's porch is half falling apart and if you were to lean against it, you might fall on your back. Two drawers from one bedroom fall apart when you pull them out - clearly in a state of disrepair for a long time. And it would be licks if there was at least something to scrape a pan with.
Was neat and clean. Had a nice stay!
Beautiful relaxing place! Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will definitely use TravelGround services again!
Totally acceptable for an en route overnight destination. Would not stay there more than 2 or 3 nights. The environment in the camp is nothing special.
Awesome place. Maybe a play room with more games e.g. pool table, table tennis, PS3 games, coin operated game etc. and a tuck shop at the resort can be added to the resort.
Me and my partner were on our honeymoon at Montagu Springs. It was nice and peaceful and we really enjoyed it.
Living space is very limited.
The unit is quite small, especially the bathroom. LekkeSlaap should also emphasize in their information that guests bring their own towels, washcloths and dish soap. However, we had a very nice overnight stay.
See stars.
Nice place, nice temperature.
Beautiful, peaceful location.
Just cold, aircon didn't work.
Montagu Springs is a nice resort - but the housing was disappointing. We stayed in Josmont Heights. The unit was very neglected. (furniture upholstery is old and battered, bathroom appearance is old, sunshade on the porch was torn, etc.)
We had a very pleasant time at Montagu Springs. Some attention could be paid to the sofas in the TV room that are old and ripped. The bathroom light was dim when we arrived. The security came to install another light bulb, but over the course of the night, the light dimmed again and made the chalet's power trip.
The Plettenberg houses create a wonderful holiday atmosphere. We will definitely go back again for a break.
We were very disappointed with the temprature of the water. I won't recommend Montagu Springs for the winter.
Would expect that with a reservation the mineral bath use for families would be more affordable or included in package, but rest of entertainment sufficient for such a resort. staff very friendly and helpful as they can.
Lovely place to relax.
Thanks for a pleasant time.
If they just communicated beforehand that there would be no towels it would have helped a lot.
The accommodation wasn't very comfortable and the little house reeked of smoke when we arrived. I had to buy air freshner the next day to get rid of the smell. I wasn't impressed, also no hot water until we called the Saturday afternoon to ask what's up. I was very upset about the accommodation but had to make the best of it because we had already paid a lot of money.
My overall experience from booking to our stay at Montagu was very pleasant. A special thank you to Melitta. She is really a superstar. Well done. Keep up the good work!
The Plettenberg units are very primitive and not well-equipped. Maybe the chalets would have been a better option.
The unit we occupied (Josmont Heights) was in a bad state, it was smelly and dirty around the kitchen area, the fridge was in a bad state too, smelly and badly rusted which was unappetizing and was barely working. the notice above the microwave (as I have seen it about 30 years ago) is still the same prob 40+yrs old with frame and all. The bathroom door had no key which was inconvienient. The staff was friendly except for their manager Una who was very abrupt and unfriendly. We had an embarrassing incident when she insisted on a hard copy of proof of payment, I had to phone LekkeSlaap to intervene. This once again brought me to the conclusion that it's best to deal direct and not via a third party. I definitely will not recommend Montagu Springs, Avalon Springs would be a better choice with regards to cleanliness and comfort.
Excellent communication prior to our visit. Peaceful and quiet setting for any weary traveller. Hot baths certainly a cure for sore muscles after a long road trip!
We found the place very clean an the staff was super friendly. We will definitely be back.
Very convenient! We had a great time with the children and grandchild.
My husband and I were very excited to stay at Montagu Springs for one night as neither of us had ever been there before. We intended to have a nice relaxing time before we continued down the road to Storms River. We were surprised and taken aback, however, when we realized that Montagu Springs is actually just a parasite on Avalon Springs. And that Montagu Springs does not have hot springs, but is a resort with one artificially heated swimming pool. However, the hot springs that are not artificially heated are within the Avalon Springs resort and Montagu Springs is built around them. So one has to pay a daily fee per person to use the pools inside Avalon Springs. Despite this, Montagu Springs could still have been an enjoyable experience, if it weren't for the following unfortunate pitfalls: The receptionist was not very friendly or helpful at all. She appeared irritated all the time. She even wanted to know if my husband and I were actually married, as she stared judgmentally at my ring finger. To my husband's question about how close our unit is to the swimming pools, we were told the following: "Everyone should get some exercise, the walk will do you good..." How extremely unprofessional. The unit we stayed in was in horrible condition! It had a smell that would convince one that the place had not had fresh air in years. When I was standing in the bedroom, a cockroach ran over my foot! Who knows how many more there were!? The curtains were already baked and kept absolutely no light out of the room. I could see right through. The carpets were also full of dirty stains and had clearly not been cleaned in years. We already left before sunrise the next morning because my husband's whole body was so terribly full of bite marks from the mattress that we couldn't stand it any longer. The self-catering unit was indeed spacious, but so outdated that the balcony arrangement had almost fallen apart and the place needed a whole lot of maintenance. You can tell the place hasn't been given any attention in decades - the information sheet about the microwave and lights is still typed on an old fashioned typewriter! We stayed in Josmont Heights within the Montagu Springs holiday resort. They even boasted that it was suitable for a honeymoon ─ lucky we didn't book it for that! No, it was the most expensive stay of our entire vacation and I can't get over how sad it was. Never ever again. However, I can recommend Avalon Springs with great confidence. They have their own hot springs and are very affordable. The staff are very friendly and helpful and professional. The pools and rooms are very well maintained and the place is truly beautiful. Montagu Springs is not at all a vacation destination I would recommend for a married couple, but Avalon Springs is definitely worth it. In closing, I would just like to emphasize that we are not picky holidaymakers at all and have thoroughly enjoyed all our other stays and destinations, but that Montagu Springs was absolutely horrendous.
