Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a bath. The bedrooms contain large built-in cupboards and dressing tables, and linen and towels are provided. The open-plan living area is spacious and beautifully furnished and comprises a lounge, dining room and conversation nook. There is also a wood fireplace, ideal for the winter months.
Leading out from 2 sliding doors is an outdoor patio complete with outdoor furniture and a built-in charcoal braai. Guests can enjoy views over Clarens, the surrounding Rooiberg, and the distant Maluti mountains of Lesotho. The house is also equipped with a TV with full DStv. The kitchen overlooks the living area and is fully self-catering with granite counters, under-the-counter oven, glass top hob, a fridge with freezer, and a microwave. From the kitchen, there is a scullery complete with a dishwasher, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, and a wash-up area. The house also has a double garage for 2 cars, as well as parking for 2 cars on the paved driveway.
The original 9-hole golf course has been developed and upgraded to an 18-hole course by developers. All 18 holes meander along and across the tranquil river and its series of dams. The new clubhouse is well appointed and offers wonderful mountain views. Visitors to Clarens have a variety of activities to choose from including white water rafting, horse riding, quad biking, hiking, tennis, squash, trout fishing, art courses, golf, abseiling, mountain trails, and nature reserves. Yes, each room has its own full bathroom with bath and shower. All amenities including electric and gas oven, heaters in rooms and air conditioning in living area. Fantastic view.
We had a really nice stay for sure. I thought there was air conditioning in the rooms too, so slept a bit hot, but not bad. We couldn't get the washing machine to work. Four people tried, but it was not necessary. Overall it was nice and comfortable.

The house was super neat, tastefully furnished and equipped (in our opinion, the photos don't do everything justice). We really enjoyed the views over the mountains and Clarens. The fact that the house was only one of two on a street was also a bonus. Although we visited Clarens over a long weekend, and enjoyed a super busy town on Saturday, we were able to return to the tranquility of Montanus. The fireplace was an added bonus on the cool rainy evenings. Really a nice stay, conveniently located to combine the town and silence!

Montanus is a very neat, clean, beautiful house that offers everything we needed as a family for a wonderful weekend! We as a family of 6 were in Clarens for a family wedding. Our stay in Montanus offered the perfect amenities and the house is also perfectly located, close to everything. Would definitely recommend and stay there again in the future.

One of the best weekend getaways and not too far from Johannesburg.
Please address the issue with oven, only works on grill. DStv remote needs the batteries to be replaced. Braai light not working. A welcome pack, with biscuits, milk and fruit juice etc. will add a nice touch. Overall a great holiday home, will be back.
Montanus is one of the most beautiful places we have stayed in Clarens. There is the most beautiful view, it is safe, quiet, very clean and tidy. I will definitely stay there again. It is ideal for 2 families or a large family and each room is private with its own bathroom.

The only negative comment is that there was some broken glass on the carpet in the lounge. Other than that everything was perfect.
