It was perfect, except for the cushions which were not the cleanest, as well as the spider's web under the chairs. It is recommended that thorough cleaning is done on a regular basis.

The accommodation itself was also impressive, very tidy and literally has everything and more that one needs. The service was also very good, and the environment is very peaceful and quiet. We have been to Montusi before, and are very happy that the resort has withstood Covid. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's a very safe resort, and the units are always tidy. The gardens are beautifully maintained. I caught a few bass in the lower pond. And that is how I got hooked.

Unfortunately, after leaving the place we got the message that Montusi charged us nearly R2000 more for a dinner the evening before. Only after contacting them several times, they paid the amount back.

Montusi is perfectly located if you want to visit the Royal Natal Park. Only 20 minutes drive and you are in the park. Montusi itself is also beautiful and if you just want to relax you can sit on your porch all day and look out at the Drakensberg. Very friendly service and the cottage is very well equipped, with everything we needed. Would love to visit again, and the self-catering cottage is a very affordable way to visit the beautiful Montusi.

The self-catering cottage is well equipped, the views are spectacular and the tranquility out of this world. There is enough space between the units that you hardly see other people. The hikes on the property are also lovely, the resort cat joined us for a short while on the hike as well. I would highly recommend Montusi and definitely go back.

We unfortunately had to leave a day earlier. We were afraid because of the very heavy rain on Friday, and with the low lying bridges being flooded, we decided to leave as we had to be in Bloem Monday morning.

We didn't want to leave there. We ate so well, walked with Victor, the spa's massages were a treat, the receptionists were friendly and helpful, as were the waiters and the workers in and around the house. Montusi are tops.
The cottage was spacious, loved the service from the staff. Enjoyed the pool, dam and walking trails in the resort.

The location is spectacular, the accommodations were great. It is a little bit unclear what the relationship of the cottages, which are separately owned, is to Montusi Lodge, but the Lodge was friendly and gave us the information and help we needed (there is no one else specifically to call if there is a problem in the cottages, but since there were no problems, we had no trouble).
As soon as there is another opportunity I must go back to this place! It was so peaceful and beautiful.

We decided to celebrate our 25th anniversary in the Drakensberge. After an internet search we booked at Montusi and were very impressed by the hospitality of the staff. The unit/resort is very neat and there are several activities if one wants to do something. We had a amazing view of the mountains, and walked around a lot in the beautiful area. A place where you can properly recharge your batteries. There is something for the whole family - you can sit on the patio and just drink in the beauty of your surroundings, or walk in the mountains surrounding Montusi with a guide, and even horseriding is available. Time for the family to spend some quality time in a lovely cottage with everything you could possibly need. Fully equipped, neat, comfortable and safe. Montusi is the type of place you keep coming back to, to escape the everyday life.
The perfect place to finish reading or writing your book. Nice hiking trails with breathtaking viewpoints. Just the place for "Blue Sky thinking" or a recharge after the hustle and bustle of the city.

For 2 elderly people (75+) this is the ideal chance to get away. Spacious, comfortable kitchen for self-catering, with the option to enjoy a 5-star meal at the lodge on order.
The crockery in the kitchen was not very clean. It seems like the staff just puts everything in the dishwasher, including pots and pans and it doesn't come out clean. The glasses and cups were also not clean and we had to wash them before use.
On their website, no prices are given for the extras that can be enjoyed. It's also very expensive to pay for every dear sport you want to do. We feel that they only cater for the overseas traveler and not for the South African people. Furthermore, a beautiful place.

Montusi is definitely recommendable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The whole site is clean and tidy. The house we lived in was very clean and tidy and all equipment was available. The maintenance was done thoroughly every day. We really enjoyed the weekend and will definitely stay there again.
