The lodge is situated on a 1000 hectare conservation estate with beautiful streams, a waterfall, 4 dams, pockets of natural indigenous forests, 2 caves and bushman paintings. The estate provides a stunning playground for the exclusive use of Montusi guests to hike, horse riding, mountain bike, trail-run, and bird watch. Within the grounds there is a tennis court and a beautiful natural-look swimming pool.
The focus of the lodge is space, comfort and peace with a personal attention to detail. Touches like fresh flowers in the suites, stunning individually prepared meals, and complimentary welcome drinks make Montusi something of a Drakensberg gem.
Nearby there is a golf course, and adventure centre and the Royal Natal National Park: The Amphitheatre Golf Course hugs the banks of the Tugela River and provides a challenging 9-hole round. We were particularly impressed with the service and the food was superb! The sugar beaks were also charming to me.
Great welcome, comfortable and clean accommodation with a beautiful view of the mountains. Food was top notch and staff friendly and accommodating. Went on a horse ride and one of the 2 riders offered to take pictures for us. 4x4 drive was also very interesting.

Our stay at Montusi Mountain Lodge was a serene escape in the secluded mountains with breathtaking views and unparalleled tranquillity. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, making the visit comfortable and memorable. The meals were delicious, adding to the overall experience of peace and relaxation.
We are cyclists. The MTB trails were nicely open and visible, and we appreciated the small "kitchen" with fridge.
The accommodation and the service at the lodge are very good. Everyone is friendly and happy to help. Very nice place, will visit again anytime.

Food was very tasty and well presented. Breakfast offering could have included a bit more variety. Best cappuccinos!

Very quiet with good service and good food. Our room was luxurious, well cared for with little treats, such as chocolates, appletizer and proteas. The bar was well stocked, and the prices very reasonable. It has no resort feel, and was a wonderful exception in this popular section of the mountains.
Montusi is a good destination with a breathtaking view of the Amphitheater. We followed one of the hiking trails and it was very well marked and in good condition.

The house we stayed in was luxurious, neat and very comfortable. The surroundings were beautiful and the lodge's staff were always friendly and professional.
We received fantastic reception from Melissa and were thrilled with our self-catering cottage no. 6. The views of the amphitheater were amazing. We had everything we could need and more. We enjoyed local hikes on the property as well as the thukela gorge hike. After a long days trek, we got relaxing massages at Montusi. Our late check out and free wi-fi made our experience even better.
