It is perfect for a weekend getaway and even longer. The host is very friendly and remembers your name the second time! Rest or tour past Moonlight Manor and walk the hiking trails up the hill or down the street to a beautiful deli! This is definitely a place not to be missed. Secure our regular stop going forward!

We arrived late, as arranged, and were greeted by wonderful, cheerful staff who showed us to our rooms, helped with luggage and showed us arrangements for loadshedding. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed, with crisp, clean white linen. The open-plan bathroom arrangement is a little startling for the older generation not used to it, but functions fine. Delicious breakfast was served in the dining room to suit our timetable. Will definitely return.

Service was great from our reception until we left in the morning. It's a lovely old house, wonderfully maintained and with the most beautiful furniture! Excellent mattress and plenty of warm bedding to keep out the winter cold. We enjoyed a great dinner at Ka'Roux restaurant (delicious lamb shanks and springbok fillet) which also belongs to the guest house's owners ─ they had already booked for dinner upon our arrival ─ and our breakfast at the guest house was tasty and ample . Only problem was that we caught the load shedding very badly ─ thanks Eskom. In our room, the shower, toilet and sink were completely open plan, just with a screen ─ not a problem for us, but if that's a problem for you, just ask for a room with a separate bathroom. Go stay there, you won't regret it!

Went to run literally around a town and through a springbok farm. Hundreds if not thousands of bokkies there. Super safe place to stay.
We stayed here overnight on our way to Darling after many long hours of traveling. The rooms are beautifully decorated with the original antique setting to match the setting of when the manor was first built. The bedding was clean. I didn't like the shower and toilet in the same room as the bedroom without a proper partition. That however suited the practicality of the setting of the manor. We had a wonderful breakfast served the dinning room. It is truly a gem in the countryside.

The en suite bathroom is definitely misleading. Maybe the ad could mention that it's en-suite setup. It is an all in one room, double bed, toilet and shower, sitting area with TV (very limited DStv package) in one room, with no privacy. The slight partition between the toilet and mirror cabinet really means nothing. It's strange to experience the bathroom smells while making yourself a coffee, or watching TV. The room was tidy, bed was comfortable, service was friendly and breakfast quite standard. The electricity was a bit of a problem, when I wanted to blow dry my hair in the morning, but in the end I was able to get it dry. I don't think I will stay here again.
When I was still asleep, housekeeping (presumably) tried to get into my room. They did not knock, they just tried to unlock my room. This was before checkout time. They still charge R95 extra for breakfast, even when they have loadshedding and cannot make things, like toast. There is no bottle opener for the beer they provide in the fridge, which is a small thing, but they also don't have a big trash bin for the room. The cars are not behind locked gates, they are just parked in front if the manor. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, but I would not stay here again. They do not have a generator, but their prices remain the same.

Unfortunately, our air conditioner did not work and because there were guests in room 3 next door and the door is not soundproof, the sounds from the room next door were disturbing.

Beautiful guesthouse in the middle of the Karoo. Wooden floors and beautifully furnished with antiques. You are spoiled with a Nespresso coffee machine in the room! We enjoyed the stoep immensely and often drank a coffee with the summer breeze cooling us down a little. However, the bathroom is partitioned off within the room, and not separate for privacy. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant (Ka'Roux) is not on the premises, but definitely worth a visit.
We had to collect our dinner ourselves and it was difficult to get to the place to eat due to roadworks in town. We also feel that guests are unnecessarily exposed to moving around extra in unfamiliar town, especially now with Covid regulations. Staff were also not entirely helpful especially with check-in (it's quite a few awkward stairs especially for older people with luggage etc.). We had to ask someone to come and help us.

I often travel between Cape Town and Johannesburg. Victoria West is more or less in the middle, where I recently stayed for the fourth time at the Moonlight Manor. The mansion has been lovingly restored and tastefully furnished. Feel free to pay that extra bit for breakfast, which the host will personally prepare for you. Delicious!
The room in the beautiful house with its cool veranda was just right for overnight purposes on the long road. Everything was exactly as advertised. Clean, neat, tasteful, and comfortable. The reception was very friendly, the information helpful, and the check-in and check-out were seamless. I will book there again.
This typical Karoo palace has been beautifully renovated and converted into several rooms. The atmosphere is as expected from most Karoo towns. The tranquility takes hold quickly so that you can relax after a day on the road. Truly a special place.

On our arrival on Sunday afternoon we were welcomed by the most friendly receptionist. She was ready to show us where our room was, how everything worked in the room, and it was so lovely to walk in and the air conditioning was already on and the room was wonderfully cool. Nothing was too much trouble for her. I must add that our room was beautifully clean and everything in its place. The next morning we were surprised with the most beautiful and delicious breakfast served by one of the owners and he was not at all shy to share with us the guest house's history, in which we are very interested. We felt as if we were at home at the guest house and it is truly a gem that is nicely hidden at the back of the village with the most beautiful view of the mountain. If you go to the Cape, feel free to stay here, you won't regret it.

Stunning house, rooms, service and staff. All that bothered was that an aircon would be nice, but I personally didn't like the shower and toilet being part of the room. It would have been nice if they could isolate it a bit or inform you beforehand that the toilet and shower is part of the room and not cornered off at all, a bit bad especially if you are friends sharing the room, even for a married couple it won't be nice. Other than that it really was very nice!

We were so surprised to find the beautiful place, with everything you need and we really enjoyed it. It was lovely to hang out on the large veranda in front of our rooms and then also get interesting information about the village and surroundings from our host Schalk. The evening breeze and the Karoo scenery were wonderful. We were able to enjoy further hospitality at Ka'Roux where Sven prepared delicious meals and Frikkie made us laugh. Our first overnight stay in the Karoo was an experience. Thank you very much!

They did acknowledge it to be their smallest room which they usually allocate to single travellers, but we were the only guests there. However, would like to stay there again.

It's a quiet environment with a nice atmosphere. The hostess is very friendly and willing to wait for people until late. The rooms are very spacious and the WiFi works. There is enough heating for those cold winter days. The breakfast hours are very flexible for early departure to next destination. The parking is not too far, one has to take into account that the house sits on a little hill with the most beautiful view ever.

Our stay at Moonlight Manor was perfect. Both Schalk and Sven where perfect hosts. They could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable. The old Manor House is situated in a very nice location and is tastefully decorated. They were actually carrying out further improvements to make it even better. We had a meal at a restaurant in the town on the first night of our stay but as this was not up to standard Sven offered to prepare a meal for us on the second night. This was fantastic. We had Karoo lamb shanks. We would definitely stay in Moonlight Manor again if we were to return to Victoria West.

We travel a lot and have stayed over at plenty of Guest Houses. Moonlight Manor is indeed an oasis in the Karoo. The reception we got was first class. Very friendly, smiling and assisted us with everything to get settled in. Decoration in room is gorgeous and so comfortable. Outside we had a lovely table with chairs and a lovely braai area. I would recommend them to anyone who travels though the Karoo.

Moonlight manor was a surprise. The rooms are exquisite, the bedding crisp white and warm blankets banished the Karoo cold. The reception was warm and personal. The art on the walls made it feel like home. We enjoyed the tea in the shopping center and the dinner in the hotel was excellent. Definitely a place I want to go back to and stay longer.

Beautiful house! It does have plank floors that creak incredibly and the rooms are not very soundproof, but nevertheless, still very clean and tidy. And the air conditioner in the room is a winner. We had dinner at the restaurant at the hotel, what an experience! The food was of excellent quality. Great experience so in the middle of nowhere.
I can recommend Moonlight Manor anytime. We were warmly received and the dinner at the hotel was excellent. Rooms are beautifully furnished. The only comment is that the many stairs made it difficult for older people to climb up! A railing by the two staircases would've helped! It might help to cleary state on the website that there are lots of stairs to climb! More signage along the way to Moonlight Manor might make it easier for guests to find. The rest was five star!

Owners are friendly - go our of their way to make you feel comfortable - just a shame there was no municipal water the following morning - out of owners' control!
Cute little place, but in certain rooms the bed, toilet and shower are right together. It makes it uncomfortable if two people are traveling together, so I wouldn't recommend certain rooms. For single people it works fine, but not when you are traveling with someone. The owners are nice and friendly and the beds sleep well.
Moonlight Manor was a highlight on our trip. The lovely house is far prettier than on the pictures in the advertisement. Sven is a warm, pleasant and caring host that really cares about his guests. Moonlight Manor will definitely be a stopover on our next trip.

The hosts were very friendly and professional. The rooms, although very nice and well restored, offer little privacy with everything being open plan with the bedroom. Personally, we would like better privacy. Unfortunately, one often smells the sewage system outside the rooms. The old wooden plank floors also unfortunately make a lot of noise. We would also have greatly appreciated it if the owners could have informed us ahead of time of the water supply problems the town is experiencing. Apart from these things, which were not a massive problem for one night's sleep, we had a very nice stay and enjoyed the facilities.

Sven and Schalk (owners) received us very professionally and warmly and immediately made us feel at home in their luxury boutique guest house. Everything in the room was new, clean and stylishly furnished. The newly restored guest house was the perfect overnight option on the N12 and we look forward to the next visit to Moonlight Manon in the beautiful Karo village.
This little place is much prettier from the outside than the photos on the internet show - we were pleasantly surprised! The room was well equipped - I would just have liked a raised surface one could place one's luggage on instead on putting it on the floor. The bed was a bit hard and we recommend considering a memory foam layer on top. Other than that we had a lovely stay and the breakfast was delicious.
Although we only stayed one night, Sven and Schalk were truly very pleasant hosts. I would really recommend the guest house. Everything inside is newly redone, the company was fantastic and the food top notch. If I am around they will see me again.

A gem in the middle of nowhere.
The location of Moonlight Manor is excellent, far enough from the main road not to hear the traffic. The rooms are large and well equipped. Sven and Schalk went out of their way to make the stay pleasant. Dinner was excellent, just make sure you book in advance.
