The apartment was big and very nice and clean. The fridge had water and milk when we arrived, one loaf of bread was on the table. The farm where the apartment is located has one nice garden where the apartments are located. Everything you can think of was there. We even got food there - very good food. What I also enjoyed was walking around the farm and looking at the animals.

We haven't spent the night in a place where so much attention has been paid to the small details. From the wonderful meals prepared with so much care to the small medicine box in the bathroom, you get the feeling of a luxury hotel. Room was painfully neat and very spacious. On a cold night there are heaters and electric blankets and for the summer an air conditioner. Lynette is an excellent hostess and we would love to stay with them again.

Hospitality people and friendly reception impressed us. They can only work on an effective drainage system at the braai area. It was raining and we had to stand heel-high in the cold rainwater and braai.

A piece of heaven in the Karoo where you can find your soul in the open again. We were able to make friends with the curious Nguni cattle, pet the horses and give the bottle-fed lambs milk. Lovely, spacious room with everything you need and a beautiful garden to make you feel at home. The bar offered us a treat in the heat and the pool was refreshing. Marene showed us the farm and we learned new things about nature. We were able to wander around to our heart's content and take beautiful pictures of the animals and nature.
We stayed 2 nights to explore the greater area of the Gariep Dam. Our stay at Morning Glory Cottages was fabulous and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay. A special thanks to Lynnette who looked after us and gave a lot of informative background on the workings of the farm which made our time there so much more interesting! The extra attention to detail of creature comforts in our unit is first class. We spent our 3rd night in Gariep Dam itself and really longed to be back at Morning Glory Cottages. Being in the countryside, on a working farm and in great and relaxing accommodation is far more superior to the fab housing offered in the dorp. Nothing but praise and fond memories for Morning Glory Cottages!

Lynette received us kindly and showed us everything. We had a nice walk on the farm after a long time in the car and also saw the wonderful horses. The dinner was too delicious and was prepared by Marene. She explained beautifully everything that was in the meal. It is so peaceful and quiet on Gelykfontein. I can highly recommend staying here for a while. For me it was a trip down memory lane because I lived in Venterstad around 50 years ago while my parents worked on the Gariep Dam while it was being built. I was very happy with my choice to stay here. Marene also has many inlaid geodes that she sells. It was the first time I could eat Karoo cucumber. Very nice.

What a nice place to spend the night. Children had so much fun playing on the farm. Rooms are beautiful with everything your heart desires - even a safe with Panado and Eno's in it. The picnic barbecue basket we ordered was delicious. We will definitely be back again.

The farm atmosphere, friendly people, good food and nice room made the holiday very enjoyable. The shower's water pressure was a bit of a problem, but the bath was lovely.
Despite drought, the place is beautiful. Pleasant friendly hostesses who made us feel at home. Nice to see the farm animals that are brought to the camp, even Nguni goat breed. We arrived at Morning Glory in bursts and the reception was warm each time. We got there after a heavy thunderstorm just before 6pm and they were already busy getting the site in order for their guests! We chose the barbecue option and it was a delicious experience. Everything provided and ready and it was delicious!
We stayed there for the first time around 2009 and this year I decided to go again. For sure one of our country's top guesthouses. I enjoyed my stay, the location of Morning Glory is perfect, staff are friendly and service is excellent. Breakfast and dinner are excellent. Beautiful cool rooms. We had a lovely stay and a very good meal at Morning Glory! The dinner is definitely the highlight with high quality local ingredients and good Karoo mutton. The beautiful horse farm, Gelykfontein is full of surprises if you stay over for more than one night in the Orange area. Do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of canned jam of your choice to enjoy at home. If you drive to the Cape, do yourself a favor and stay over here.
Upon arrival we were greeted friendly, checked in without any problems, everything was properly explained to us in the room and in the guesthouse. Our room was very neat and fully equipped with everything you need and very tastefully decorated. The highlight was definitely the food and our 3-course dinner was fantastic and can be compared to any good restaurant. The breakfast was also excellent, everything prepared with care. We also received a lot of personal attention. If we return to the area, we will definitely stay there again and we recommend it 100%.

Lovely accommodation on an old farm, it's been in the family for 132 years. Dinner was amazing.
We were pleasantly surprised, nice stopover place, lovely Karoo breakfast.
Very pretty in the trees with an awesome little pool. We enjoyed walking around looking at the baby animals and horses. Delicious dinner! Great stay on our way back to Jhb. It would have been nice if the kids got a chance to feed the animals, but we only found out it was an option after they had been fed. Dinner was really delicious and they catered for the kids too. A really lovely stopover! Thank you!
It's a great place to pull over after a long day on the road. The rooms were neat and clean upon our arrival. The breakfast was fresh and Marené and Lynette very helpful. It's just around the corner from Gariepdam.
The facilities for staying over were very neat. Attention was paid to the finer details. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would surely recommend this place for its hospitality and peacefulness.

Accommodation at Morning Glory Cottages comprises 5 units that are fully furnished and quaintly decorated. All suites are quite spacious and contain a bar fridge with tea and coffee-making amenities, a microwave as well as crockery and cutlery. General facilities include a TV with selected DStv channels. Unfortunately the accommodation does not have Supersport 1. There is a ceiling fan, a hairdryer, air-conditioning, extra blankets and electric blankets for winter nights and a free Wi-Fi Hotspot in most areas. Secure parking is available for vehicles on the premises.
Morning Glory Cottages also provides braai amenities for guests in the lapa area and offers a splash pool to cool off in on hot summer days.
On-premises activities include nature walks, star gazing, bird watching, interact with farm animals, thoroughbred horse stud, mountain biking on the farm tracks (guests are to bring their own bikes), glorious sunsets or just the calm and tranquillity of the Karoo Farm,
Nearby Attractions include game drives in the adjacent game reserve. Fishing at Gariep Dam, as well as 4x4 routes, Anglo Boer War Sites, Oviston water tunnel Inlet and so much more.
For the corporate guest, the guest house has a conferencing venue and is able to host up to 10 delegates.
Please note that no pets are allowed. There is limited cell phone reception. Any meals booked are delivered to your room to be enjoyed in your room or on your patio. Morning Glory Cottages does not have a restaurant or dining room.
