71 guests' feedbackSuch amazing hosts, stunning mountain views, such comfortable accommodation, awesome braai stoep, and everything you need for a relaxing, self-catering stay. The hot tub was such a highlight! Our host spoiled us with a freshly baked ciabatta and a beautifully warm hot tub where we could enjoy sundowners with a beautiful view.
Fantastic experience.
Went there on honeymoon, a bit difficult to find at first because of Google Maps. But not the establishment's fault. We were asked to pay for the farm jacuzzi to be heated (which wasn't in the description), but after pointing that out to them, they graciously didn't charge us. We went out the following day and when we came back, our apartment was cleaned and the water was heated. The road is a bit rough, so if you're driving a small car, you might find it a bit difficult. But not impossible. The place is perfect for two people. We were welcomed with freshly baked bread and a tutorial on how to heat the jacuzzi. There are a couple of dams to fish in. Everything was beyond perfect. Star gazing on open nights will be a dream. If I can recommend, perhaps have the option to make 2x single beds into a queen for couples.
Our family of 5 had a great stay. Very warm and peaceful.
What a gem of a place! Elmi is a fantastic hostess. From delicious treats to fantastic company. It is dead quiet in the area. We really enjoyed the sheep and fishing in the pond. The house is neat and clean. I would definitely recommend the stay at Mount Africa to anyone.
It's was picture perfect.
We had a great stay, the quiet evening with the stars in the hot pool was breathtaking. We caught nice bass and carb at the pond.
We had a wonderful time and our children loved splashing in the pool and exploring the farm. The host was so helpful and kind.
Very nice. Safe and delicious.
We stayed a lot. The unit is well equipped with all the necessary furniture, cutlery, etc.
Very neat and the hostess spoiled us. The accommodation comes up below Tsitsikamma, which created a completely different expectation than what we got in Joubertinia.
Was great, great people friendly will go again.
Beautiful surroundings, very neat and clean accommodation. The owner made us feel extremely welcome and we would love to visit again. A bonus is the black bass that bite at times!
Only sometimes you arrive at a place that really, really knocks your feet out from under you - this is such a place! The freshly baked bread and homemade jam were really "above and beyond". Well done Elmi - see you again soon!
Lovely place. The splash pool is lovely to sit in in the evening. Very neat facilities and nice ponds to fish in.
See stars.
At first, we thought we were lost between the orchards, but then we saw the host, who was amazingly informative and helpful. The wonderful splash pool was heated and we had a dry bag of wood ready for us. Will go there with even more friends next time!
Our stay was something special. We were looking for accommodation near Tsitsikamma, Mount Africa was a suggestion. We chose Mount Africa, upon arrival we realized that Tsitsikamma is actually about an hour from our accommodation. Although the farm was something special, we had to drive on a dirt road that is not quite suitable for low or smaller vehicles. The owners were incredibly hospitable, friendly and helpful.
Lovely quiet environment with a nice view of the mountains in a farm atmosphere. Waking up to the farm and nature sounds is something special. Was even welcomed with a freshly baked farm bread. Lovely! Dues have no impact on your stay.
It was wonderful to be able to stay there. Will be able to recommend it with great confidence.
Do we want to make a recommendation? No not really. It's a place and people that we really just want to keep to ourselves. Go see for yourself and experience Elmi and Armand's place and them as people, people of the heart, my people. Here you find yourself. Rediscover what you love and have a passion for. It was not goodbye, rather see you again.
Susan is a master griddle cake baker, was pleasantly surprised by her hospitality and helpfulness. She is a great asset.
Elmi is a great hostess and went out of her way to make me feel welcome. Location is good and the Old Man cottage, where I stayed, is perfectly equipped. I will definitely come again!
Absolutely lovely place. Everything one could need for a lovely, true farm stay.
Sielshernuwing.
The Old Man's house at Mount Africa is well equipped and gives you a taste of farm life, but with facilities such as air conditioning, Jetmaster barbecue, etc. The 'boere-jacuzzi' or heated whirlpool is an unexpected delight and we enjoyed watching the stars at night from the luxury. The black bass and carp ponds offer an extra activity on top of nice, safe areas for walking or just relaxing on the nice patio. We will definitely not hesitate to recommend Mount Africa to our friends and acquaintances.
Amenities and especially the heated pool are excellent.
The cottage is impeccably clean and equipped with more than one needs. We were warmly received and treated to a fresh ciabatta bread upon our arrival, and on Sunday Susan brought us delicious, freshly grilled cake. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it.
Armand and Elmi are superb hosts. Everything is clean and comfortable, and they have thought of the finest details to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. This is a place we will go back to time and again.
Awesome place. Loved it.
One of the best getaways we've had in a long time. The tranquility and hospitality are top notch. We would definitely recommend Mount Africa.
The hostess welcomed us with freshly baked bread, strawberries from the garden and so much more. Very hospitable and lovely to visit the farm. The hot pool made everything just that much more relaxing.
It was amazing! Elmi and her husband will definitely see us again soon!
It's really lovely to have gotten to know Elmi. She welcomes people with open arms and wonderful stories about their farm. We will visit again and bring more people!
From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by our friendly hosts. Elmi spoiled us with home-cooked meals and I could just relax. The cottage was beautifully equipped and we needed nothing more. My husband enjoyed fishing in the dam and I was just enjoying my book. I would definitely recommend them for a stay.
We wanted to get out of the city and clear our heads for a weekend. Mount Africa was the perfect choice. Quiet with beautiful scenery. Elmi & Armandt are down-to-earth and immediately made us feel welcome and showed incredible hospitality; very friendly and they even provided wood, fresh bread, milk, jam and cheese. We were in the "bachelor's" unit, and it was the cleanest accommodation we have ever experienced. We definitely want to come back!
We were impressed with the beautiful scenery and neat little house that has everything you need. Armand and Elmi's hospitality is top notch. When we got there, the heated pool was ready for us and the lamb chops ready for barbecue. Would definitely recommend Mount Africa. We plan to visit again soon!
Thanks for the sandwich and nice treat, the small hot pool was a highlight along with stargazing on the roof.
The owners and staff go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The house is well appointed and we had everything we could possibly need. We will definitely stay there again and again!
The accommodation was very neat and clean. It had everything and more you could possibly need.
Very neat and beautiful.
My daughter swam in the "boere jacuzzi". Owner assured us it is fountain water with bath salts. Her hair turned green immediately. She spent 3 hours at a hairdresser today and her hair is still green! No bleach or colourant could remove the green. Please warn visitors not to wet hair.
We wanted to fo somewhere to fish, and the cherry on the cake was actually catching some! A beautiful place with friendly service, we had all we needed (and more!), a stunning, close getaway for a future weekend.
The cottage is excellently equipped with kitchenware and was clean, tidy and new. The hostess had the most delicious lamb chops and ciabatta garlic bread ready for our barbecue - highly recommended!
Guesthouse clean and very comfortable - location fantastic.
Wonderful location, roads were lined with fruit trees. Elmi had baked us a loaf of ciabatta, and the kitchen had everything you need for self catering- stove, microwave, coffee plunger, fridge, and more! You drive on a short stretch of dirt road ,but it's not bad and our little Polo handled it well. You have your own covered parking at the cottage. Firewood was provided, and we sat by the fire and watched the stars. They have delicious jams and preserves for sale. There are walks you can go on, and a little dam with a boat you can use. Would recommend staying more than one night.
We had such a wonderful time with Elmi and Armand. They made the most beautiful memories for our boys, so much so that we will certainly go back as a family!
The people are salt of the earth people. Even left a surprise on the bed as it was an anniversary weekend. A wonderful time, especially spent together with the owner on the bank of the dam with fishing rods and just talking about everything and anything. About Our Heavenly Father and His kingdom to everyday things and things. A must-visit place that can be recommended.
If I could give six stars I would! Armand and Elmi are particularly hospitable and generous. Fresh bread, butter salad in the fridge and biscuits for long sittings on the porch. The sausage and lamb I bought and grilled were fine! The farm lends itself particularly well if you want to switch off and be strengthened internally. You see very few strange people, it's private, very quiet and the stars are bright at night. I also did 2 nice steps. I highly recommend it, also for families.
There is always an element of doubt when one makes a booking at a remote place where one has no personal reference or review to rely on! We were not let down. At Mount Africa, with Elmi and Armand as your hosts, you need not waste a moment of worry. We were welcomed with fresh bread, cheese, jam, butter and milk for the tea, coffee and sugar provided. The accommodation was immaculate with all that one needs for a self-catering holiday or short breakaway. One can walk, read, sleep, enjoy a braai or just a fire, bird watch or just relish the sounds of a working farm in the background. The night sky is spectacular because there is no light pollution. The air is fresh and invigorating. The beds are warm (electric blankets) and comfortable and the water in the showers is hot. We loved it. Elmi is always available and loves chatting about the farm and will answer all your questions and even allow you to bottle-feed a lamb if you wish! Thank you Elmi and Armand for a wonderful winter weekend!
Very nice guest farm situated between the mountains. Owners are very friendly and hospitable and go the extra mile with the kids!
The weekend was very nice, quiet and peaceful. The accommodation was clean and tidy. The fishing in the ponds was very nice. The owners are very nice people and make you feel right at home.
Will definitely go back.
Mount Africa offers exceptional value for money - it's a cliche, but it's spot on. The two of us stayed in the smallest house, but there was no problem with space. Everything clean and tidy, and all the equipment for our needs was there - even a neat little stove with two plates and a small oven, on top of that a microwave oven. The advance arrangements were effective (and in neat Afrikaans!), the reception was warm and the owners were always available to share information about their interesting businesses. In a time of severe drought, it was remarkable for us as city dwellers to see here how income can be generated; even with soap making. The location is beautiful with mountain views, although it was very limited from our cottage. According to the owners, the nature reserve, only a few 100 m from the house, is accessible to visitors. The location is a few kilometers from the main road, but the surroundings make up for it. There are no exceptional security measures, but probably because they are not needed. Keep extra money available for the homemade products.
Very clean and tidy accommodation. Elmi is a wonderful host and very friendly. I can recommend Mount Africa anytime.
We had a really nice stay. On arrival we were treated to home-baked rusks, toast, cheese and jam. Armand and Elmi are wonderful people and were hospitable and friendly. Apartment was very neat with everything needed. Will definitely stay here again.
Nice place located on a farm. Quiet and peaceful. Cottage so beautiful and cosy. Unforgettable customer service.
Mount Africa exceeded our wildest expectations. The accommodation is lovely, even in the winter months - electric blankets, well equipped kitchen, gas heater for the cold evenings and a sunny veranda where we could enjoy the beautiful nature with a cup of coffee. We were warmly received by Armand and Elmi and enjoyed freshly baked grilled cake with homemade jam. We enjoyed watching all the activities on the farm (this farmer and his wife hardly ever sit still!), and it contributed to our wonderful relaxation. Elmi's meals are top notch - the marshmallow pudding is the best ever! We left with heavy hearts because it was more than just a vacation. We will definitely visit there again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Mount Africa. Elmi and Armand are amazing hosts. The farm and surrounding area is very beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are definitely going to make a plan to stay again.
We had a fantastic weekend at Mount Africa. Everything as expected and more. The owners are incredibly hospitable and go the extra mile for their guests. Can highly recommend it!
Lovely, peaceful, enchanting.
Thank you very much, see you again soon. Rest for the soul, and the hospitality was very special.
We absolutely loved our stay, one of the best features of this place is that it is so quiet, even though it is on a farm and not so far from the main farm house, we felt like we were completely on our own and secluded! Only the sound of the wind in the trees and the birds accompanied our relaxing on the porch reading books. We also felt completely safe here. Lovely to take a refreshing swim in the large dam too, just behind the cottage. The owners are warm and welcoming and there was everything needed in the beautifully renovated cottage, which was extremely neat and clean with modern features.
Hospitable, lovely atmosphere.
I had a really pleasant stay at Mount Africa. Amazing hosts, very clean and comfortable with incredible views. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Elmi was a wonderful hostess. Such a lovely lady. She made us feel very welcome. The cottage we stayed in had beautiful views of the mountain and farm. She was incredibly thoughtful and had left us freshly baked roosterkoek with jam and cheese. The cottage was very well equipped and although we were there only one night, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening, especially the heated blanket she thoughtfully had on all the beds. We would highly recommend her guest accommodation.
We had a wonderful stay at Mount Africa. Armand and Elmi who own the farm were very welcoming and friendly. We were treated with fresh roosterkoek, home made apricot jam, cheese and milk in the fridge on our arrival. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable with a lovely stoep and braai area. Our daughter even had the wonderful experience of helping when lambs were born over the weekend. Great weekend of cycling, walking on the mountain, bass fishing and relaxing. We can highly recommend Mount Africa. TravelGround also provided a very efficient and great service.
Friendly and hospitable reception. The owners Elmi and Armand did everything to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The unit has a lot of character and is super clean. We can recommend the place.
Nice and quiet, nice and clean, friendly.
Even though we only stayed there for one night, we really enjoyed it and it was very relaxing. The hospitality of the owners makes one feel at home immediately. Feel free to visit Mount Africa.
We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful unit that awaited us - better than the expectation created by the photos. Mount Africa's beautiful, spacious unit and the peace and quiet of the undisturbed environment didn't only exceed our expectations, but Elmi's outstanding balance between hospitality and sensitivity to ones privacy was amazing. It is clear that she is living her passion and that it is not just a business. Upon arrival we got fresh flannel cake, homemade apricot jam and cheese in the unit. The 100 year old farmhouse was equipped with new things and everything that you need, combined with old world charm. The environment is secluded from bigger shops and cities, but we took all our food with us and enjoyed coffee at Joubertina's charming French inspired coffee shop (recommended by Elmi). The getaway from the city, surrounded by nature, peace and quiet was JUST what we needed! We definitely recommend them and will go back anytime. Excellent value for money.
