Accommodation on offer are various charming self-catering guest houses, which can accommodate between 2 and 6 guests. All houses are well-equipped with linen, towels, cutlery, crockery, a fridge, a stove and a microwave. There is an indoor fireplace, as well as a braai area outside each house. Mount Ceder also offers 3 campsites with their own ablution facilities situated far apart for plenty of privacy. Guests are required to bring their own tents and camping gear.
For those who do not want to cater for themselves, there is a restaurant where guests can order meals. Dinners are a 3-course set menu and need to be booked 24 hours in advance. Activities include mountain biking, canoeing, hiking, bird-watching and swimming in the river. In addition to the opportunities for hiking and swimming on the property, Mount Ceder is also within driving distance of many other Cederberg attractions and various 4x4 routes.
The Cederberg region is only 188 km from Cape Town and yet the landscape is completely different from that of the Mother City; wilder and warmer with raw, dramatic beauty.

Lovely stay and excellent service.
Had the best time!
For a Free Stater, the view of the mountains is no. 1, and it was no. 1! A handrail at the stairs by the porch will make the house more accessible for cane users.
Comfortable cottages. Had a great sleep.
We were upgraded free of charge to Taaibos, and loved our time in the house with great access to the river for swimming, and all the amenities you might require. I can strongly recommend staying over at Mount Ceder.
Lovely stay in the Camphorboom house. Very spacious unit and well equipped. Quiet and peaceful and we could once again appreciate the starry sky. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at the restaurant.
Beautiful and tranquil, surrounded by nature - it was just what we needed to break away from the hustle and bustle. Stunning views all around and absolutely loved the nature walks and swimming in the river. The staff were friendly and incredibly helpful. The chalet was clean and equipped with everything we could need. We'll definitely be back!
Will definitely visit again, there is a lot to do and experience. One day is too little.
Thank you for a wonderful stay and accommodating us. My son is physically disabled and Peppercorn Cottage was perfect for us.
Fully equipped home convenience with great fireplaces. Great place for walks and canoeing. Horse riding on bucket list for next visit. The restaurant offers a great opportunity to relax with a good read and home-cooked cuisine on order. A perfect breakaway.
We camped at Soutkrans. The campsite was nice and spacious, clean and tidy with a breathtaking view of the mountains. The bathroom and toilet were very clean and tidy. There are many activities one can do, e.g. walk, swim in the river or kayak and fish. We will definitely visit the place again.
It was very nice. The surroundings are lovely, the facilities are exactly what you need, the houses are very well equipped. The staff are friendly and helpful. It's important to plan around the weather conditions, because it gets very hot in the middle of the day. More than enough to do to keep everyone happy.
We stayed in a two-bedroom house which was perfectly kitted out. The management supplied a braai pack and wood as we had not been able to get this en route. Excellent service.
Comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting.
Very enjoyable, friendly and helpful staff, accommodation was clean and well stocked with everything one could need.
We had booked for an Eco house, but Mount Ceder asked to upgrade to Puntjie, at no further expense. What a treat! Very well equipped place in which we have stayed. Everything and more. Beautiful view from the porch. Would definitely recommend and stay here again myself.
Just the break we needed.
Beautiful accommodation in the Cederberge.
Outstanding and great activities. The restaurant food is excellent.
Mount Ceder is absolutely lovely, and the cottages are incredibly cutely appointed, spacious and private. The mosquitoes are a problem because you are near water, but Mount Ceder can't do anything about it, you just have to close the windows to keep the pesky pests out. We will definitely go again, our stay was lovely.
I can recommend it for sure. It is neat, clean and beautifully located.
Beautiful surroundings. Kliphuisie has everything you need and a fireplace for the cold evenings.
Mount Ceder is a unique destination, soul invigorating! You truly feel as if you are in the wilderness, yet pampered. The cabins are very well equipped and the service excellent. The roads from Clanwilliam and Ceres are passable when dry, but be prepared for a rough ride, there are lots of rocks and potholes. And try to avoid the roads if it has rained a lot. One then needs a 4x4 vehicle.
We will return in the summer.
The accommodation has no Wi-Fi connection, so you disconnect from the world. It was amazing to shut down for a while. The accommodation isn't next to the main road, so it was nice and quiet. The area is beautiful and our view from the house was stunning! The accommodation had all appliances in the kitchen and bathroom.
Wonderful place to visit.
Mount Ceder is a gem in the Ceder Mountains. Everything we wanted as a family. Beautiful natural beauty, cut off from the rest of the world and the perfect place to relax.
We had a lovely time. Besides the incredible setting, the service was exceptional. The manager, the reception manager and the rest of the staff should really be given a thumbs up. No request is too much trouble. Their knowledge of olive farming was certainly impressive, and this in the absence of the olive manager (on leave). We can definitely recommend Mount Ceder.
Mount Ceder offers beautiful scenery, as well as a good location from which to visit other attractions. The units are well equipped with quality cutlery and other necessities. The staff are competent and friendly. WiFi is only available at the restaurant, which is a good thing.
Best of all no mobile phone that keeps you busy and no television, you are there to enjoy the atmosphere around you with the fireplace and good company. Can use WiFi at the restaurant. They walk a path with you to feel comfortable. Receptionist set up chairs for us for the Stormers' final and stayed open until the game was over. Great service.
A beautiful location with lovely views and interesting activities during olive harvesting. We did the 5km walk to the lookout at the top of the pass and were rewarded with beautiful views of the valley and Cederberg.
Beautifull views over valley of mountains and olive groves from the cottage.
We would recommend it to anyone. It is an experience that you have to experience yourself.
Delights of camping with ablution and kitchen facilities as in any home.
It was a very nice and peaceful weekend. Will definitely go again.
The separate bathroom and kitchen are very comfortable and there is everything you need. The swimming in the river was very nice and the small "splash pool" at each campsite was a nice surprise and worked well in the hot weather we experienced.
The only disappointment was the traffic noise.
The unit is neat and fully furnished. We were warmly welcomed with a bottle of their own olives. The fireplace was a great treat. The town hall attraction is a must see in the area. It's breathtaking. Get your permit at Mount Ceder's reception.
We lived in the stone house which is quite isolated. There were clear signs of previous break-in attempts. Burglar bars had been forced out of the wooden window frames in the bathroom and the frames were damaged and beyond repair. We didn't really feel unsafe, especially since it wasn't noticed until the next morning. Our dinner at the lodge was excellent and the staff extremely helpful. Ideal place to escape from the city. No cell phone signal. Wifi only at lodge.
Everyone was incredibly helpful. Everything in Puntjie is in perfect condition. Kitchen equipment, furniture, finishes, bathroom make-up, general beauty and cleanliness absolutely 5 star. No detail was left out. Even knives are sharp and toilet paper folded with bows, towels neatly displayed. Really the best "attention to detail" I've seen. Restaurant area picture nice. Olives delicious. Jacuzzi with fantastic view. Our biggest challenge is working out when we can go again.
Our campsite had a beautiful view and plenty of shade and grass. The toilet, bathroom and kitchen area were tidy. Campers should be aware that there are no conventional power points, only a solar battery with a plug similar to the cigarette lighter inside a car, to which one might connect a mobile phone or fridge with the correct "adapter". The dirt road leading to Mount Ceder was very bad at the time of our visit with lots of rocks and reefs, but we understand that the recent rains had an impact. The waterfall is a definite must for guests to visit. Carry sneakers and enough water.
A very beautiful farm environment in the middle of the mountains with many different activities that can be done.
It is a very nice place in the Ceder Mountains and definitely recommended. Will DV stay there again when the opportunity arises.
The washed out dirt roads will have to be fixed as a normal sedan will struggle.
We had a lovely stay there, everything was neat and clean. Will recommend it to others. Beautiful surroundings.
The scenery is incredibly beautiful and a peaceful stay, very clean and tidy. Peaceful!
Mount Ceder exceeded our expectations! Unbelievably beautiful surroundings and the house was equipped with everything we needed!
We had a great time, despite heavy rain, and the river in flood. Lovely fireplace and cozy little house with all the amenities you need.
Furthermore, the people working there were very friendly and helpful. The start of two hiking trails is a bit unclear, it should be better marked. The initial description was 'lost in translation', but we finally found it.
The restaurant is particularly expensive. The midges were an impossible battle.
Great cottage on hillside Melkbos with wonderful views. Excellent braai facilities. Restaurant at check in facility had good food, service and a wine list. Clean comfortable cottage. We will stay longer next time.
Beautiful, private campsite that met all our expectations. Excellent amenities. Will definitely stay longer next time!
All information was conveyed to us precisely and clearly upon receipt. The Kliphuis has everything one needs, plus little things like coffee, tea and biscuits.
The kitchen is very spacious. Everything was well organized!
Beautiful, spacious, clean accommodation. View is breathtaking. Nice environment. Very friendly and helpful staff. Sell delicious products, such as olives, jam, chutney at reception. Road from Wuppertal is serious 4x4. Only 50 km, but drive 2 hours on it. Dirt road from Ceres was in good condition.
Very friendly staff at reception, accommodation was excellent, couldn't have asked for anything more - wish we stayed longer!
We had such a nice stay. Very comfortable, clean and lacked nothing. The environment is breathtaking. We will definitely come again!
Fantastic farm. Located deep in the mountains with only fields, mountains and silence around you. We could almost get lost in the view with the fire burning and delicious coffee. There is also plenty to do such as hiking trails, rowing and cycling.
Our stay was very short, but we left so refreshed after two nights of beautiful stargazing and the Karoo landscape. Recommend the walk to the waterfall.
Great getaway from busy city life. Friendly and helpful staff. I recommend a longer stay, although this will be a bit pricey.
Loved the friendliness of staff. Beautiful and comfortable accommodation. Lovely place to stay on the Cederberg.
Beautiful scenery and a great place to get away from the busyness of city life. Some short trails for those who like walking and places to swim and canoe. Gravel road is doable by car, but makes travel slow for last 30 km.
Located in a peaceful and very beautiful environment and close to the popular town hall - for the Maltese Cross and Wolfberg Arch you will have to get up early. The chalet was very neat and well equipped; and the staff very friendly. Was surprised to have to pay for the tourist card that you get for free at other places.
I initially booked 2 nights but enjoyed it so much that I extended it by 1 day. Perhaps the only criticism is that at R480 per night it is a bit on the expensive side for a campsite (especially considering I was camping alone), otherwise I would have stayed longer. The tranquility is fantastic, and I appreciate the fact that you can hardly see your neighboring campers. (I'm not one for family resort type campsites). The private kitchenette and ablutions are very comfortable and clean. I was able to power my camping fridge from the solar system, and the bathroom is nice and spacious. I would just advise future campers to tread carefully in the evening as I encountered scorpions 2 nights in a row. The type with the small pincers and big plug! (Note: this is in no way a complaint against the resort - after all, this is nature!). Gladson at reception is very friendly and helpful, and I struck up a nice chat with the interviewer, who has worked there for many years. Both definitely a great asset to the company.
What an experience to experience the Ceder Mountains after Mount Ceder. It probably depends on what one is looking for in the place you have booked. Please keep the following in mind when booking: Fantastic choice if you want to stay in seclusion - the dirt road is very well maintained, but that's it. approximately 45 km from Montagu and 120 km from Citrusdal. The view in front of Lion's Tail does not have a water view at all as it is advertised. NB that we were there in a very good rainy season. Lion's Tail is an Eco house - it was not very clearly explained to us in advance that only solar energy is used, one cannot use the wall plugs for any electrical devices such as hair dryers, mobile phone chargers, etc. The shower's heat cannot be regulated at all - as soon as you turn on the taps of the shower, the hot water automatically reaches 90 degrees, which is almost boiling, after that it cuts out and it is only cold water. So we couldn't shower at all. The porch's shelter is covered with thin sticks, when it rains you are not sheltered from the rain at all, even if you sit in the binnie and keep the door open while it rains, the water runs into the house. The braai for outside is very small. The staff were very friendly, we didn't use the restaurant, but the place looked very clean and tidy.
Beautiful surroundings, well located. Comfortable private ablution blocks at campsites. Lacks some basic maintenance.
Would like staff at lodge to provide more information re location and availability of permits - we missed many attractions due to no information and drove kilometers for permits that were available locally. A better porch roof for Lion's Tail will do wonders, the west sun is unapproachable and that's the viewing and visiting area side! Directions to Clanwilliam from Algeria are non existent, we drove a +100 km dirt road extra because of that, it was night!
It was by far the dirtiest of the 9 places we stayed on our trip. In my approximately 50 years of travel it was the dirtiest - building as well as crockery. Windows dirty and full of cobwebs. This was the most expensive and dirtiest place we lived. I was too pissed off to use the barbecue equipment - luckily brought my own. The follow-up with the person at reception regarding the payment of the outstanding fee had been extremely unprofessional.
Absolutely stunning, lovely accommodation and stunning views.
From locations and views to great accommodation and delicious and plentiful food, Mount Ceder just rocked. The staff are outstanding and service first class. Godson is a legend. He took great care of us and even helped my husband and his friend when they had problems with their bikes.
Everything was perfect for a wonderfully relaxed visit. The reception was friendly and made us feel at home, accommodation was excellent and the view breathtaking. The meals were delicious and the prices very reasonable. We stayed in one of the eco-cottages and although the cottages mainly use solar gas, there is also connection, so would recommend getting a fan for those hot summer nights. Will definitely visit there again.
Very well equipped and spacious. Delicious stoep and braai. Beautiful surroundings and nice and quiet.
Eco cottage is a great idea and they are really very well equipped! The people at Mount Ceder were very friendly and very helpful!
Mount Ceder is definitely worth it.
Leeusterk was the best accommodation for our stay. We had a beautiful view of the river and olive orchards.
One of our favorite overnight stops during our visit to the Cedar Mountains. Blinkberg was excellently equipped and offers rest for the soul. Would love to come back and then stay longer to try all that Mount Ceder has to offer.
Staff are friendly and helpful. The cottage is clean and tidy with a well-equipped kitchen.
Comfortable, well-equipped cottage with awesome views and not a soul in sight. Peace and tranquillity. Just what we wanted. And the waterfall walk is spectacular.
We also received absolutely excellent service from the staff, who did not hesitate to help with any request. Delicious breakfast and dinner at that. It was truly one of the best experiences I've ever had with self-catering accommodation and I can say without a doubt that it was worth every penny.
A very special place, very well equipped and sufficiently off the grid to afford a break from the hustle and bustle of life.
Lovely, private, beautiful house with an incredible view. The stay was just too short.
Mount Ceder offers the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation and is an incredible place to visit with a loved one. The rock art is a must for those that would like to learn more about our country's unique history and natural beauty.
We loved the peace and quiet of this amazing location.
The silence of nature was balm for the soul. The unit (Blinkberg) is private with the most beautiful view from the living areas and bedrooms. The unit is very well equipped and we lacked nothing. There are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you busy, or if you just want to curl up with a good book you won't be disappointed either! I can recommend Mount Ceder with confidence.
The perfect serene getaway.
We had a very pleasant stay at Mount Ceder with the most stunning surroundings and tranquility. The chalets are well equipped and we enjoyed the walks. Away from it all.
Most beautiful environment, everything is perfect.
Sien sterre.
Facilitated an upgrade when our unit without aircon was unbearable in the heat. We were happy to pay the difference and loved "Taaibosch" for the remainder of our stay. Love the area, the fact that cottages are separated by some distance, allowing for quiet and peaceful surroundings. Hikes were well marked and swimming in the river was great. Directions however, included in our confirmation email was not very clear, in the area of Rawsonville, it asks for road names but there aren't any to be seen, rather use national road marking signboards!
The Jacuzzi overlooks the beautiful nature and mountains - ideal for relaxing! We were surprised by a cape cobra at our braai area on the first day, but the service was fleeting and someone quickly sorted it out! We really enjoyed the visit and will definitely want to go back again!
The stay exceeded our expectations. The area is very beautiful with scenery that undergoes a total change every few kilometers. Evenings were cool and quiet. The olive trees make it feel like paradise.
The climb up to the lookout on the mountain was just simply breathtaking with all the vegetation so we didn't even get to the top, and then late afternoon to the waterfall was just such an experience that will not be forgotten.
Friendly staff with beautiful surroundings.
Would like a clear path and access to the river near the campsite no water access. Would recommend vehicle access down to the start of the hiking trail to the waterfall would make it more accessible.
We had a great stay at Mount Cedar, although there were things that were not done as expected. In information sheet it is stated that linen is changed every third day, we stayed 5 nights and linen was not changed. On our last day toilet blocked, we reported it at 9 o'clock the problem was attended to throughout the day, but at 17:30 they were still struggling. It messed up our last day a bit and we couldn't end our holiday well. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
We stayed in Leeustert. Last time was 8 years ago. Thank you for joining the living space and kitchen. Clean, well equipped, perfect. Only wish we had another day. Other accommodation on the farm is equally good, if not better. In Cederberg South this is the place to stay. The new management is doing an equally good job!
Would recommend to friends and family anytime. Will definitely visit again.
Melkbos Cottage satisfied minimum requirements only.
Too expensive for what you get. Was received by a very unfit unhelpful catcher. Was in no. 12. A two-bedroom cottage for 2 nights. A double bed was requested, 2 single beds were just pushed together. Not comfortable at all for a couple. The hot water never worked properly. Reported it but wasn't right. The room does not have curtains or blinds everywhere. Neither does the kitchen. So much light in the morning and don't feel safe in the evening. No signal. WiFi only in the reception area. Good location but definitely won't visit again. Very very disappointing.
The good: The cottages are well furnished and clean. The Christmas dinner in the restaurant was delicious. The disappointments: The walk to the waterfall and the viewpoint are the only 2 steps you can do without paying even more. However, the biggest disappointment is that the living room area of our little house (Peperboom) had a large population of bats that fly back and forth in the room as soon as the lights are off, they also came to sit on me and my son who were trying to sleep in the departure. They also miss the toaster and kettle, so it is an unhygienic condition that needs to be addressed. I also realized the day after Christmas that I had paid for 5 Christmas dinners i. p. v 3. (We were only 3). I called the next day and sent an open email, but so far have had no response from them.
It's the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature!
Friendly staff, very willing to assist. A perfect break from the city hustle and bustle. Indoor fire place to keep you entertained and warm. Will definitely return and stay longer.
Our expectations were already high, but they were quickly exceeded upon our arrival. Even if the 2 person cottage we stayed in was not so perfectly located, perfectly appointed and particularly luxurious for such a remote place, we would still have been able to fully enjoy ourselves and relax because the exceptional mountain landscape that surrounded us from all around. It's the perfect place for a busy soul to become human again. We had a great time swimming in the river and even managed to catch a few bass fish. All this while we were surrounded by breathtaking scenery and privacy. Due to the Covid level 3 containment regulations, we did not make full use of Mount Cedar's restaurant facilities, but we look forward to enjoying a cocktail and tasty meal outside on their deck during our next visit, as we will definitely be there again going to stay
Very cute place with enough silence. However, dinner was disappointing. We were told that the chef's specialty is lamb shanks and then we were given small pieces of steak where we were not asked how we eat them and some of the guests did not eat some of the salami that was served. And since it was a 50th birthday, one would have expected more effort with the menu.
Quiet and private in a pristine natural area near a mountain river. Private ablutions with hot water (gas) and a 2-plate cooker, as well as some DC lights and a DC power outlet (charge cellphones etc). Can buy wood there and a restaurant back at reception if wanted. Great hikes as well.
The best rest we have had in a long time in the most beautiful surroundings. Also had a nice MTB bike ride. There is still so much more to do.
Mount Ceder was a wonderful and peaceful getaway for us. The silence and natural beauty that surrounds you is wonderful. The campsite is well equipped. The shower did give some problems, but nothing we couldn't live with. I would definitely recommend it to those looking for some peace and quiet!
Safe, neat and beautiful.
The location and scenery are breathtaking. Well appointed chalets. Good quality bedding and towels. The gas geyser system for the shower facilities is not ideal. The breakfast was delicious. Seeing that the chalets and campsite do not have Wi-Fi, the guests at the breakfast tables came to make all their calls and left several voice notes to catch up with their business at home both mornings which was very disturbing, while we only enjoyed the tranquility and wanted to enjoy nature. Such a destination is precisely to get away from social media and constant addiction to mobile phones. It actually spoiled it for me personally. I would suggest that phone calls are not allowed there or that guests have to make calls at the back of the couples area.
Some cottages are standing to close to each other.
Unbelievably beautiful environment. Mountains that surround you. Dirt paths there are part of the excursion and the surprising beauty that awaits at every turn. Food for all the senses. The mountains make you look again and again and again. You are surrounded by color, especially purple and yellow. The smell of fynbos in your nose. Lots to hear: frogs, birds and silence. Lovely bedding to enhance the feeling of pleasure. And real coffee for the taste buds.
The house is really spacious and good ecquiped. The remoteness of the spot brings you back to yourself.
The camping spots are beautifully located, clean and well equipped. Very tranquil, we will come again!
I booked it for my parents and they enjoyed it very much. The beautiful nature and the cozy stay in winter with the fire places in the house. It's a very cute place. Perfect for a mini getaway weekend.
It may be too expensive for some people's pockets, but the capital layout is so high and the housing is so well equipped that it is still value for money. We are spoiled in South Africa with all our beautiful places.
Our two night stay at Mount Ceder was fantastic. The secluded well equipped cottage, the breathtaking view all around, very friendly staff, good food, swimming in the river and just enjoying the ambience and tranquillity of the place. We can highly recommend a visit to Mount Ceder but drive in from the south, from the north it is quite a mouthful even in a 4x4.
The reception was great and the people went out of their way to help us. Also when we canceled one night to sleep elsewhere the help was fantastic. Special thanks to Gladson.
Good camping experience, clean and neat facilities, solar power and warm water, hiking routes close to the river. Braai grid and the 2-plate stove was a bonus. Mount Ceder is recommend.
The reception was very good with Gladstone we received. What a gem of a person. The cottages were comfortable, well equipped with everything you need. The mountains and surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful.
Very neat and practical.
It was our second visit and still no disappointment. Enjoy that silence.
Special place. The food and accommodation are recommended, as well as the attractions.
Definitely worth it to visit.
Very neat house and comfortable. Suggest coffee and tea to be available.
We had a great time camping. It's nice to have your own ablution and kitchen. They will definitely see us again.
We enjoyed the privacy of the camp site and camping on a working farm - having our own ablution facilities was wonderful.
Exactly what you want for a weekend away in the mountains!
So beautiful, friendly, comfortable and magical. A quiet place like an oasis.
What a relaxing beautiful place will return anytime. Kids loved the Jacuzzi and the fire place inside our unit was amazing. We loved every moment of it.
A double winner for us - lovely scenery and the quiet we were looking for and so many new routes and stops to discover or just to stay where you are, light a fire, enjoy a glass of wine and best of all - no TV noise or cell phone reception! Away from the city's hustle and bustle. If you really want to make contact, you can use their WiFi at reception for free to make contact with the outside world (if you have to). Lovely chalet, clean soft bedding - would definitely recommend.
The residence at Leeustert was neat, comfortable and private. The hiking trails were lovely, and the customer service friendly.
Thank you very much, we had a great time at Mount Ceder. Received very good service especially from Gladson who was always very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the hiking trails as well as swimming in the river and waterfall.
Very good accommodation, child-friendly and very tidy accommodation. Service is fantastic. Just a bid away from most things, but if you need a quiet getaway without signal and TV this is the place to be.
Very neat and clean facilities. Campsites very well equipped, each with its own ablution facilities. Unfortunately our sleeping unit had two single beds with no option for a double bed except another unit at three times the price. The restaurant is great and very well located. Remember to confirm in advance if you want to eat there. No "drones" allowed which is understandable, but responsible use of them will be welcome. There is so much beauty that cannot be photographed like this.
Excellent in a very special area.
I cannot praise this place enough. The 3 campsites are private and about 200 m apart. The private ablutions and kitchen are extremely well equipped with great attention to detail. The location is out of this world, so beautiful and peaceful. Stunning river to swim, canoe or fish in. Lovely hikes and mountain bike routes, plus a restaurant and shop. I could keep going, will definitely be back and will recommend to all. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us!
Stayed at Kliphuis. Was perfect for what we were looking for. Everything that you needed was there. We wanted peace & quiet and got that in abundance. Plenty on offer to do if you were in the mood. Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back one day. Only bug was the gravel road that is not car friendly.
The roads in Cederberge are currently very corrugated iron. But Mount Ceder is an oasis. Dinner is a definite must with a very pleasant starter and incredibly tasty large portion of mutton main dish! Great vegetables with it. Finished off with incredibly delicious homemade marshmallow pudding. The whole meal is rounded off with very tasty "Voertsek" Craft Beer. Very nice stay.
Lovely place to relax and enjoy all nature has to offer.
The surroundings are breathtaking and the accommodation was very neat and comfortable with everything needed. The information on Mount Ceder's website is slightly misleading in some places. Overall, our experience was very pleasant.
Cutest accommodation with everything you need! And the most beautiful Karooster night.
What a lovely stay, canoed on the river and did the footpaths. Stared at mountains after nap and lit a fire. Enjoyed the starry splendor and slept deliciously cuddly.
Lovely place to stay but the self catering unit booked was with a double bed and there was only two single beds and no cupboard for clothes. Also no fan or aircon in the unit.
It's a fantastic place. We enjoyed a quiet Friday night and Saturday there. Just be aware that they rent out the restaurant for events. So instead of a quiet Saturday evening, with only nature around you, we had to listen to a wedding party's music. Not impressed by this at all, as we wanted to be away from the city noise.
We really enjoyed our stay and the staff was very friendly.
Ons het eers 'n probleem gehad, maar dit is vinnig opgelos. Lekker aktiwiteite om te doen.
Wonderful break from the noise of the city, no cellphone reception (it was the best). Nice to see how environmentally friendly you are. Staff at reception friendly and helpful. Cottage in good condition with what you need. Lovely unspoiled scenery that only the Cedar Mountains can offer.
We had a very relaxed weekend. The chalet was very neat and clean. The bedding was of good quality. Enjoyed our walks.
Nestled in the mountains you find this haven that simultaneously comforts you and sweeps you off your feet. Here the beauty is so rich you can almost just sit, and stare. That is enough. Do yourself a favour and try this luxe getaway for a very reasonable price. Your stress levels will plummet.
Thank you Mount Ceder for a fantastic vacation!
Most beautiful, cleanest, comfortable, feel at home in another breathtaking environment I have ever stayed. Highly recommended to all my friends.
Great accommodation, cozy room with a fireplace, beautiful location! We thoroughly enjoyed, we wish we could have stayed longer!
Wow, Bravo Zulu Mount Ceder. Akkommodasie, fantasties. Baie dankie julle, and we will be back.
Really a place to relax and camp out.
My partner and myself and our respective parents on a weekend away in the mountains was just what the family GP ordered. Totally amazing!
Tranquil surroundings and breathtaking scenery, excellent hospitality from staff and owner.
Our 8 and 2 yr old sons spent hours at the river making new friends, the staff are extremely helpful and the owners went out of their way to help us. We will be back for sure.
We stayed in Melkbos, one of the Eco 2 sleepers and it was definitely an experience. To sit on the veranda every night and watch the stars was the best part of our holiday. The facilities are well furnished and fulfils your every need. We even went fishing and swam in the river. It was very safe and a fantastic way to cool down in the otherwise hot Karoo. The property offers wonderful sights. Definitely worth a visit.
Very good value for money. Accommodation is clean and tidy and the location between the mountains is breathtaking. Friendly service and the braai packs they provide are ample and of good quality. Will definitely stay there again.
For Capetians, Mount Ceder is ideal for a weekend getaway. The environment is breathtaking. The accommodation is beautifully furnished and private. The restaurant is delicious and affordable. The surroundings offer enough activities for the weekend. Value for money.
Food for the soul and spirit. Cedarberg at its best.
It is unbelievable what a weekend away can do for a person, especially when there is no reception for ones phone and iPad. The accommodation was fantastic and the conversation pure pleasure. I will go back to Mount Cedar any day.
The directions to the destination were a bit poor, at least you can name the towns. We were unsure when we entered On the Mountain where we should turn right as we did not look at the km from Ceres. The person working at reception is a bit blunt and not the friendliest person to communicate with. We arrived late the first night and did feel that they could put at least one bag of wood in the cottage for the first night, so we had to go to bed without being able to light a fire. We enjoyed being so close to nature and the facilities in the cottage are good, it would be handy if there is a microwave as we took food with us which we had to heat in a microwave or oven and had to then tried to heat in a saucepan. Overall we had a nice stay and would definitely recommend it.
Definitely a "come again" place in a beautiful setting between the mountains. Swellendamdorp is a stone's throw away with all necessary shops and loads of attractions.
If you want to get away from everyone and everything I recommend Mount Cedar. I just think they should add more directions. Exactly how far it is from Glan Willias. At one point we thought we had missed the turn off, becuase it felt too far and there's no reception so you can't call to find out if you're still driving in the right direction. Luckily we found a game ranger who gave us further directins. But we had a great stay, and the nature is wondefully peaceful.
The smaller cottages were neat yet basic, and with only a bath were somewhat inconvenient. But they are currently upgrading and installing showers. I would prefer to stay in the larger units next time.
Peaceful and generally well organised. There were no cleaning services for 4 days, but is wasn't unbearable! The gravel road is not bad. One of the dinners was very expensive for what was served! I can however recommend Mount Ceder.
The stay was nice, but was disappointed to find that there is no TV and no cell phone signal. Was also under the impression that all houses have a Jacuzzi, but sadly not. However, the staff is super friendly and the house is clean and comfortable. Would have liked to be closer to the river. The road is a "grondpad" and not very nice for one's car. Otherwise we enjoyed the stay.
We wanted to rest, walk and swim, we couldn't. Our chalet was eco friendly with no aircon (that wasn't mention in the overview), no swimming pool - only a river you have to drive to, when you get back to the chalet you're hot again. Couldn't walk during the day (vehicle showed 44°C) and if you go walking, you do have to be able to cool down. Our eco friendly chalet was right against the mountain - we had a visit from the baboons, thus had to close the already hot chalet's doors and windows (no fan either). We booked for 4 days, but only stayed 1 night and paid for 2. Think their website needs to provide more information, for mountain bikers it would be wonderful, would have liked to see everything, drawings, waterfall etc. but it was just too hot. Plan your holiday and then Mount Cedar can be wonderful. We also have to mention that it had been one of their hottest days.
It was one of the best destinations yet!
In all respects it was just one big pleasure to stay at Mount Ceder. From the getgo it was obvious that they put their customers' needs first. No stone was left unturned, the house we booked was spacious and equipped with only the best appliances in the kitchen, solid, quality furniture, original paintings everywhere, and air conditioning in both bedrooms (which was ideal during the few very hot days). Spacious and luxurious bathrooms. Big patio and covered braai, plus a jacuzzi, which was awesome. The area and the view are stunning, you're not even aware of other people. Nice swimming spot at the river. Reasonable prices at the restaurant, so we went back quite a few times for meals and coffee. The shop selling farm products is also reasonably priced. Ideal accommodation - we will definitely be back.
The accommodation has everything you might need! The stone cottage we stayed in had a fireplace in the bedroom, so it was just what we needed in the cold weather. However, the braai outside is not sufficient, because it is not sheltered from the wind and weather.
It was an incredible weekend getaway from the city. The place is beautiful, peaceful and a million stars at night makes it very romantic.
If you don't want to see or hear your cellphone or TV for a week, this is the ideal place to go and rest! Take some books that you have always wanted to read and just enjoy every moment. Pack your hiking shoes and explore the farm. Or bring your mountain bike and ride all over the farm.
What a nice weekend to spend with friends. Everything was perfect: food, service, establishment, etc. Would definitely go again.
We were there with an 8 month old baby and the staff even put a cot in our chalet for us - such good service! We had an incredibly peaceful weekend there and the chalets have everything you could need! I only wish we could just stay for a week (maybe next time!).
We will be booking again for 2017!
It was so nice to see all the stars. In the city, one sometimes forgets about that.
We stayed in Leeustert and it was well appointed and tasteful. The surroundings are picturesque and a treat for the soul. We can't wait to go back. Next time with the whole family.
Enjoyed a lovely weekend at Mount Ceder. We stayed in one of the 2-person cottages. Mornings and evenings were cool, but fireplace and well-fitted kitchen kept us more than comfortable. Gladson was especially helpful with advice and suggestions. Will come again in the summer!
The stay was fantastic. The silence and natural beauty was incredible. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would love to go again.
We stayed in Kamferboom and it was equipped with everything we needed. It's wonderfully peaceful, great to get away from it all and offers the most beautiful stars. The river was close and dinner at the restaurant delicious. A bar to enjoy drinks on deck would be a bonus. It's very easy to get there from the Cape (we took directions from R44). We highly recommend Mount Ceder.
We stayed at the Kliphuis and we enjoyed that very much. We were suprised that this cottage was situated at a distance of 2,5 km from the reception and restaurant. It was a pity that there were no chairs to sit outside. It can be very hot in summer. Considering that there is no aircon or fan, it would be nice if there were mosquito nets in the windows, so that you could sleep with open windows.
An incredibly peaceful place to break away! Would have appreciated new bedding after the fifth night, but otherwise everything was 100% and nice and quiet!
It was our first visit to the Cederberge and it's a must-see destination for nature and mountain lovers. Mount Ceder is perfectly situated to explore the southern part of the Ceder Mountain. The children fished in the river (take fishing rods for the children). They really enjoyed the inner tubes and boats that are available. Nice place to ride a mountain bike (which can also be rented from them). Definitely buy some of Mount Ceder's olive products, the tastiest olives! The starry sky is wonderful! The drive up to Wuppertal was a spectacular route through the beautiful mountains, but takes quite a long time. The roads are mostly good but I wouldn't like to tackle certain parts with a sedan (especially the pass up to Wuppertal) without a 4x2 / vehicle with a high ground clearance vehicle. Mount Ceder's store stocks most essentials and the prices are reasonable. The cottages are comfortable and well equipped. The air conditioning was a plus. Unfortunately we only spent two nights - we will stay longer in the future.
People very friendly and the little shop has everything you might need. We really enjoyed the tranquility, went for a nice walk and caught our breath and enjoyed nature. We ended our evenings with playing cards and barbecuing under a sky full of stars. Breakfast the last day I would recommend.
We had an amazing time, wonderful scenery, peacful, staff friendly. Romantic and a great getaway from the hustle in CT. Cottages are fully equipped and we will definitely book again. Thank you to all at Mount Ceder.
Everything you expect on a weekend or holiday away! I can't wait for our next time…
Good service and value for money. Beautiful surroundings. Will stay here again when we travel through the Cedar Mountains again.
Mount Ceder is a welcome retreat for people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The houses are modern and fully equipped and the restaurant facilities are top class (for guests who want to use them). The 3 camping sites with own ablution and kitchen facilities are above average. No mobile reception is a big PLUS. The giant water pools mean you can row and swim to your heart's content. Mount Ceder is close to the main attractions and is therefore an ideal base camp for further exploration of the area.
It is rare that one actually hears NOTHING! We would have liked to see the caves as well, but only found out about it on the last day.
Water dried up during evening and we could not shower. The response the next day from staff was disappointing. Fan during scorching summer months is essential.
We stayed in Puntjie - the accommodation was neat and spacious. The Jacuzzi was a winner and it was amazing to sit in the Jacuzzi and a meter away an owl sat and stalked you. The horse ride was also great, but we would not recommend the trip to the waterfall - unless you are not afraid of all the baboons.
We do feel that air conditioning is essential in such an incredibly hot tin roof house and that the Jacuzzi should have an umbrella or canopy as you really can't sit in the sun and burn all day. Of course you want to cool down in it. But overall it was heaven on earth.
Very good stay. The residential units are excellently equipped in a beautiful environment.
It was a great weekend, and the general feedback from the group agrees that we couldn't have asked for better. Will definitely stay there again.
Excellent quality! A beautiful area!
Go and enjoy the peace and quiet... worth every penny!
No TV, no power to blow dry hair, no music...never thought I could do without it. Enjoyed it immensely and will never forget the weekend. It was very special. Thank you very much, see you again for sure!
We did not miss the 220 Volt power at all! Just watch out for those baboons, they are incredibly sneaky and will find a way into your house! If the owners want to put the accommodation in a class above the rest (actually it already is), they should build a little splash pool at each cottage - that would be the ultimate, especially if it is solar heated so that you can swim for 9 months of the year. We loved the upper reaches of the river, but that was in mid-summer.
The only issues we had was that the bathroom door did not close and we would have liked some firewood all ready in the fireplace ready to be lit when we arrived. We got there too late to buy any and it was cold in the chalet.
The campsite was perfect, nice and private and tidy. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The nature on the road was incredibly beautiful and the dirt road was not bad at all. We are DEFINITELY going to visit there again.
