11 guests' feedbackWe were pleasantly surprised by the accommodation and Kobus and his wife are excellent hosts and hostesses. The place was spotless and the facilities great. All night we listened around the fire to the roebuck rams with their red heels. We would go there again anytime.
Clean and tidy and everyone is friendly.
Kobus welcomed us and promptly received us at the gate. Afterwards he accompanied us along the dirt road (which should definitely be attempted with a 4x4 or 4x2) to Rockfig. It's about a 15-minute drive from the main road entrance of Mount Marula. After we checked in, a game drive was offered where we saw various game such as chamois, kudus, wildebeest and giraffes. The tents are well equipped with electricity, fans and comfortable beds. There are also facilities with sinks, fridges, gas/wood grills and a boma. There is also both an indoor and outdoor shower. Mount Marula is the ideal destination for nature lovers and "glampers" if that is what you would be interested in.
From the day we arrived, we received an exceptional welcome from Kobus, hope he treats all his guests the way he did with us.
I would have liked to see the other two options of accommodation, which I assume is further from the road. Paperbark is next to a very busy road and the traffic noise spoils the atmosphere of a potentially nice camp. The kitchen is well equipped and the large fridge/freezer was very welcome and put to use in the heat. It looks as if a new ablution block is being built, which will add to the comfort. The bats in the ceiling in room 2 were disturbing and the short cord on the fan that did not reach the plug was uncomfortable.
Nothing for teenagers to do. Pool was booked by another camp.
The generator was a blessing during phase 4 load shedding. Furthermore, there is sufficient firewood for use by guests.
Enjoyed the plenty of free firewood in the evening.
Delicious food, friendly people, clean and tidy tents.
Showers poor.
