The lodge comprises 9 separate units, each with a lovely view of the mountain. The units are all equipped with a fridge, microwave, coffee- and tea-making facilities, a TV and private entrance.
There is also 12 campsites with a water- and electricity point at every spot. Each campsite can accommodate a maximum of 4 persons. There are clean and convenient ablution facilities with warm water. Guests also have access to a communal entertainment area with a TV with DStv.
There is a walking trail on the property on which guests can take a stroll to admire the rich bird life. The property is fenced.
Mountain View is also used as a base camp for guests that go on the Orange River rafting tours to the southern parts of Lesotho and the mountain passes towards Lady Grey, Sterkspruit and Rhodes.

All we wanted was a good overnight stop, we were not considering Zastron as a destination.
The room was lovely. Comfortable bed with electric blanket. The kitchen was everything one could need. Elsabé welcomed us warmly.
Lovely and friendly accommodation. It was so nice that our dog could run around the huge grounds!

The location was pretty under the mountains however it was very noisy in the afternoon with locals being right opposite the campsite and they were going about their business. It did however quiet down after 6 o'clock.

With the charm of the mountain, the extremely neat grounds and friendly reception, this overnight stop is a rest for the soul after a long journey. The cottages were well equipped, neat and clean. Easy access and covered parking. Mountain View will definitely see us again.

Will use the accommodation again. We were accommodated, even being 2 families with small kids. Only the cold shower in the middle of winter was not what we expected. Especially after the whole day on the road.
The general feel was that it is clean. But the carpeting was not nice. The curtains and bedding are old and stained. The kitchenette set up was not great. The town felt very dilapidated and the road there was very bad. The view of the mountain was nice. The indication of a once great venue is there. Lots of camp spots, an old broken playground. Boma picnic spots that must've been lovely in it's past. Like I said, it did feel clean overall.

Mountain View is pet friendly. I travelled with two small dogs and they absolutely loved to run around and explore.

Beautiful setting. Nice grounds. Clean rooms. Safe with remotes for the gates (of course there is always someone who leaves a gate open). Would be nice to have a braai facility at each unit, but we managed just fine.

The host and hostess made us feel very welcome. They went out of their way to cater for our need. Peaceful environment at the foot of the mountain. Definitely the place for people to enjoy the quietness.

The hosts were very friendly and told us all about the mountain and the beautiful walks. This is the ideal place for a relaxing holiday. Watching the sunrise was a highlight. We thought it was going to be a busy place because there are units and campsites. It wasn't like that. The place is peaceful and surrounded by the most beautiful scenery. The units were clean, tidy and well furnished. The grounds are well maintained. We could relax on the porch and have a good rest. The owners are friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the stay very much.

Same as above. One night was not enough to experience the beauty of the Eastern Free State. Would have preferred more time at the same venue as a base to explore the area. Just that I requested a room with a shower but ended up with one only with a bath.
Pitches are nicely laid out with kra points easily accessible. Ablutions are very clean and neatly rested. The manager (owner) is friendly and shared advice about the mountain routes we could follow.

We spent New Year's Eve in Zastron at Mountain View on the way back from a wonderful holiday in the Eastern Cape. That central location. We slept over in the double room. It has a small fridge and cutlery which is very cute. Just make sure you take what you need with you. The village does not offer much. Could use the campsite's braai to grill meat. Mountain View's location is beautiful, the grounds are neat and clean, as are the rooms and bathrooms. The owners are friendly. Will stay there again anytime if we go in that direction.
Good service, good value for money.
Found the place easily. When they heard we were newly married they decorated our room with good wine, chocolates, flowers, juice and burning candles. We also got a real country farm breakfast, albeit at no extra cost. It would be foolish to drive through the area and not spend the night there.
We were well received by friendly owners. They prepared a delicious dinner especially for us and the breakfast was excellent. It was worth using the place as an overnight destination.

Mountain View is a beautiful B&B. I liked the spacious lawn and barbecue areas and also the walking paths in the poplar forest. Units are spacious and tidy. Ideal for overnight purposes. Maybe just a fan or air conditioning can be put in for the very hot days in December. We were very pleased with the service!
