The accommodation offers 5 open-plan rooms, namely Intombi and Aloe which can accommodate 2 guests in each, Nguni and Pondo which can accommodate 4 guests in each and Protea which can accommodate 5 guests.
Intombi is seperate from the other 4 rooms and comprises a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette with a small stove/oven, fridge, pots, crockery and cutlery.
The Aloe room has a double bed while Nguni and Pondo have a double bed and a bunk bed in each.
The Nguni, Pondo and Aloe rooms each have their own fridge/freezer and tea- and coffee- making facilities, and have access to a communal kitchen area which is well equipped with a variety of pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, gas stoves and microwave for cooking purposes.
Protea has a double bed, a bunk bed and a single bed, as well as an en-suite bathroom with a shower and a kitchenette with a small stove/oven, fridge and microwave.
You can see everything from Fish Eagles to Sunbirds on our property. If you want something more adventurous you may consider going up to the airstrip to take in the gorgeous scenery of the Indian Ocean flowing into the Umzimvubu River, or spend the day at Mpande, Umgazana, First, Second or Third beaches fishing, walking, swimming and hiking.
Silaka Nature Reserve is also worth a visit and your entry point to Third beach, a lovely long open sandy beach which is more private and quieter to visit than the other beaches, especially during peak holiday periods.
Bulolo and Magwa Waterfalls are also a sight to behold, as is the Magwa plantation, a local proudly South African tea leaf grower/manufacturer. For something else interesting to do head down to Isinuka Mud Caves and Sulphur Pools. For the daredevils, give The Gap & Blowhole a visit. Water is forced into a narrow gully which ends in a natural chimney-like hole from which the water, at the incoming tide, shoots into the air for about 20 meters. A warning to the venturesome: Do not try to look into the Blow Hole. Please be careful though, the blow hole is at its best when seas are rough.
Other adventure options include kayaking the river, horse riding trails, enjoying the amazing butterflies and walking the mountains, beaches and cliffs, a cruise on the Bobalong barge along the Umzimvubu River etc.

11 guests' feedbackThe guy by the name John welcomed us so nicely. Everything there was perfect with a great view.
This was a truly great adventure, that was made particularly awesome by the kind, enthusiastic, and warm guiding of Uncle John. We saw and did so much in a short time and really felt we got a different slice of Eastern Cape Port St Johns, than you will from a typical beach stopover. The accommodation is excellent. The hiking, fishing, swimming and site seeing is a feeling of accomplishment, this was a really unique experience for us. The beauty you will see, will be well worth the effort and worth the traveling to all different places everyday, as Uncle John made sure we enjoyed our stay and see all the places in a short while!
It is clean.
Primitive but nice and very helpful.
Owner very friendly. Please help. Very calm.
Damp smell. Not very clean. No proper stove or bathroom privacy.
The place was more than I thought. The guy called John was a great assistance. He even gave us directions to where we can enjoy ourselves. Thank you so much.
The owner John is a very hospitable person. He has good knowledge of the area and even took us on a tour for the afternoon. For a trip to remember in Port St Johns this is a very good place.
John was a brilliant host and is extremely knowledgeable about the area, the people and its history. He is an invaluable guide to all the gorgeous places in the area.
A peaceful oasis in a beautiful garden. Silver clean units are well equipped. The owner and his staff very friendly and helpful with the facilities that some of the units share particularly neat (that double shower!). Feel free to ask for one of the units with the stoop deck that overlooks the loop court of a garden and mountain that towers over the valley.
Nice place to relax and the owner, John, and his daughter, Natasha, made us feel right at home.

Description
The Intombi room is a more private standalone unit which is separate from the other 4 rooms and situated on the other side of the Mountain View Inn main property. It is still in very close proximity, a 30 second walk, from the other units. It comprises a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin. It has a kitchenette with a small stove/oven, fridge, pots, crockery and cutlery.
