43 guests' feedbackIt was an amazing dream vacation, very private and clean. The chalet is perfectly furnished with everything you need to enjoy a pampering holiday and it's completely surrounded by trees and woods. We had a great time swimming and walking. The service from the staff was excellent. Would definitely recommend for a family holiday.
Mseni Lodge is on the beach. It's quiet there. Delicious restaurant and friendly management.
Very good and pleasant lodge.
Lovely cabin hidden in nature. Staff are extremely friendly. Daily housekeeping is a bonus! Great access to the beach, although you need to face quite a climb up and down wooden stairs, but the walk is lovely! We found our stay way too expensive though for the total experience gained.
Mseni lodge's staff are friendly, their restaurant has enough options to suit everyone and tasty. The wooden houses are private and are surrounded by a forest. Private swimming beach with steps down to the sea. Road leading to the lodge may need some attention. Very modern. Had a great time, thank you.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Die lodge is eenvoudig, maar vir die afgeleë ligging is dit baie aangenaam.
Fantastic breakfast! Staff friendly and pleasant. Very neat and spacious room!
Breakfast was great. We would have liked more towels and clean linen if the stay is more than 2 days. The price per night is quite high compared to places close by that also doesn't have a view of the sea.
Mseni needs to put in scuba washing area and area to hang scuba kit at each room. They also need to look at getting fat bicycles for hire so people can ride to shop and beach and it gives alternative things to do.
Very neat accommodation, friendly, helpful staff, great restaurant.
Our reception by the receptionists was very friendly. The unit is modern, nice clean, big bed. The breakfast was very nice and the restaurant has a good variety on the menu.
Fabulous hotel in a uniquely gorgeous setting a short walk (steps, so not disabled accessible) through jungle to the top of a sand dune letting down about 200 m onto a pristine empty beach about 4 miles long. About 2 miles to the north around the point at the end of that beach is the main dive centre beach with several dive companies represented there and a small friendly café. If not wanting to walk there, you can self-drive or take hotel transport. There is a sister resort owned by the same individual as Mseni, being entirely diving-focused and full of people there explicitly for the diving, so for us the ideal combination approach was staying at chilled out Mseni and doing any diving you want to through Coral Divers. They offered very competent refresher training if you wanted it (we did), and slick well-guided diving on the reefs which are as reputed still in great condition without the hideous bleaching so sadly effecting much coral elsewhere due to water warming as part of climate change. All easily accessible with good long bottom times as not that deep about 9 - 12 metres, so easy and safe. If, like me, your age makes humping heavy dive cylinders around a challenge, assistance from boat-driver staff are readily available; ask for Geoffrey if you want to enjoy the same first class assistance that we did. Mseni has a lovely restaurant with a terrace looking out over the Indian Ocean, excellent food and drink served by charming engaged staff for him. Nothing was too much trouble. Managers Hannis and his wife Leonie were lovely and rapidly became friends who we look forward to seeing again next visit. Rooms are first class, impeccably cleaned daily, safes etc and all the usual you might wish for. Safety and security concerns always arise when planning a South African trip. We had no problems at all with this area when staying here. If you self drive to the dive-beach, the car park is run by a group of youngsters who will want to seek some cash payment for 'looking after' and washing your car; going rate at about R150 was a bit steep in the context of an otherwise very cost-effective trip. Probably easier to take transport from Coral Divers resort to the beach. The value for money for the rooms, food and drink was first rate. Many thanks for a lovely stay and great hospitality.
Beautiful, peaceful and private.
Overall absolut empfehlenswert, wenn auch nicht ganz preiswert. But the Lage is unique. Essen was overall auch sehr lecker.
Nice area and comfortable clean accommodation. Nice meal in restaurant. Friendly host.
Mseni was really great with friendly staff. The newly renovated units are amazing. It's by far the best place to stay in Sodwana.
Will go there again with my family. The cabin is well-equipped and very clean with everything you could need. The restaurant also has delicious food and friendly service. Would have liked to stay longer at Mseni.
The resort is neat and clean with friendly service and good food.
Great place to getaway to, very relaxing, owners very helpful nothing too much trouble. Loved my stay at Mseni lodge. An amazing place to stay if one wants to see turtles, and to do bird-watching, tours can be organised.
Very nice, peaceful place with exceptional natural beauty.
A very peaceful and beautiful place. With a beautiful road to the sea. Had fun!
Excellent, friendly service. Really comfy beds. Great restaurant with a beautiful sea view.
Units need aircons. Unit very hot.
Honeymoon accommodation is not honeymoon accommodation, pay the accommodation in advance, but the place complains when you get there, then there are still extra costs that you have to pay that you were not told in advance. No air-conditioning in the room and you can't open your window or door then the blue monkey comes into the house.
We were not advised of the 2 levies totalling R280.00 to be paid. This may have been in the small print but we didn't see it. I see we had to pay to enter the Park but still not sure why we had to pay again at the lodge. For a 1 night stop over this put the price up as compared to other lodges we were considering.
Sodwana and Mseni Lodge see us again soon. It was now rest for our soul. Definitely recommend the place. Thanks also to you at LekkeSlaap, you provide a great service, keep it up.
Very nice stay. Very, very nice place! Just big enough for two people. Love that it is cleaned daily and there is a security guard walking around so you feel safe. The beautiful pool was great when the beach gets too rough and the restaurant on site just makes it more convenient!
Very nice place if you want to relax near the sea. It has everything you need. The monkeys are a bit annoying, but that's part of the experience. I just don't think it's ideal for a business trip because it takes a long time to get to your destination due to access points and winding roads/dirt paths. I would definitely go there again if only for recreational purposes.
I have to start by saying that Tracy was very helpful and friendly. The accommodation was simple and the kitchen far too small. Bathrooms were a bit creepy. I love nature, but because recent crime we didn't feel safe enough to walk and enjoy the forests or the beaches. We went to eat one meal at the restaurant. We found the prepackaged food's label inside the food. A disappointment.
Very unwelcoming damp and musty smell when entering the chalet, especially bedrooms. This cleared up once windows were opened and rooms aired out. Whole window pane and frame fell out of main bedroom. I had to get assistance from reception to refit with nails and could not open throughout the stay. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and the family and friends enjoyed immensely.
This was our second stay in Mseni Lodge, and although the place has some gaps (especially in cleanliness area) this is the only place in the area with direct access to the beach, and the location is absolutely stunning. If you go for a walk on the beach, make sure you mark the clearly the dune where you go up. Restaurant is OK - good enough not to venture into town (outside the park area) if you don't feel like it. There is a well stocked shop and filling station within the park, just outside the second gate.
One problem is that the unit's maintenance is poor, especially when you consider the price. There really could be more effort. Very peaceful and beautiful surroundings. The restaurant's meals were fantastic and well priced. Will definitely visit there again.
Mseni Lodge is situated in a beautiful and peaceful location. The beach is absolutely stunning. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back .It is close and convenient to Sodwana Bay with all its activities it has to offer, like swimming, snorkeling and diving.

The service, accommodation and the restaurant were GREAT! Warren's kitchen gives excellent service and we will definitely go back again. Big thanks to Tracy, Warren and their team. WELL passed! Furthermore, their beach is very private and with our luck we found a sea turtle that came to lay her eggs. Mseni Lodge 10/10!
It was amazing to come back to a clean chalet every time we were at the beach - no dishes no sand clean towels clean chalet... Mseni is a really great place with a fantastic restaurant. The food was of the best quality and cooked correctly. There are also several "cocktails" to choose from and a full menu. The beach is relatively close and very quiet it seems as if one is on an island. The residential units are fully equipped and there is plenty of hot water.
It was very "nice", but a bit old fashioned and some renovation work is needed. The two plate stove was rusty and not really up to standard. I would advise anyone to eat and drink at the restaurant. It not only offers value for money, but also has a very nice view of the sea.
Tracy and Warren you are great hosts! Next time I will surely do the scuba training!
There was an immediate sense of vacation and ease upon arrival. The cleaning service every day makes the "self-catering" experience worthwhile. The restaurant has good service, but the prices are a bit high... but with the quality of dishes, it was definitely worth every penny. The place is near the sea; there's a walkway that makes the beach easily accessible. Just take your own barbecue wood with you, because it's ridiculously expensive for four pieces of wood which just makes your barbecue experience unnecessarily difficult. The braai area was very comfortable.
It is incredibly beautiful, the service was excellent, and we would definitely recommend it.
We enjoyed it very much. It was very peaceful and safe. The people are very helpful and friendly.
