111 guests' feedbackWe had a great stay! The owner was very friendly and always ready to help. Would definitely recommend!
We had a great stay at Muddlers Minnow! The fireplace was the highlight, especially when it got so cold in the evening! Everything was clean and tidy. Had nice peace and privacy. Our dogs were able to play in the garden.
Very peaceful environment. Tidy.
We had a lovely time and were accommodated nicely.
Only lacks equipment to clean with, viz. broom, mop and shovel and dust and washcloths.
Good. Love the fire place. Security light not working, making entrance very dark at night.
The water pressure in the shower is ridiculously low. The sheet was stained. The duvet cover and pillowcases had what looked like cigarette burns. The bed was uncomfortable. Craig was totally unprofessional when it came to booking us out. The road to the property was terrible.
The place feels dusty and neglected. Every night we wondered if we were going to wake up on the floor because the bed was held together with ropes. The ceiling around the fireplace hangs and is black. Not sure if it's soot or mold. There was only Ricoffy, sugar, cremora and a bag of wood provided. There are only 2 photos that are accurate.
No, we didn't have a good time. Bedding was neglected.
Dullstroom is a beautiful town.
According to the posting, the following are in the room: TV with certain DStv channels: The only channel we could find on the TV was channel 100. Milk, fresh fruit and sweet wine are available on arrival: we did not receive any of these. We experienced the following: The fridge smelled even though there was nothing in the fridge. The cupboard door was loose. The bed looked like it wasn't going to hold us, and would break at any moment. The ceiling has been replaced but has not been painted at all. The room did not look like the pictures. There was almost half a block of lightning.
We made another reservation and stayed at another place that was very comfortable, neat and clean and the service was fantastic. All that was bad is that I had already paid in full at Muddlers Minnow and will probably never get that money back, while I had to pay again for the new accommodation. I would never recommend Muddlers Minnow and would never consider staying there again.
Place is quiet, you can relax and it is very private. It is the perfect place to get away from the buzz.
We had a nice stay. The lighting in the unit is a bit poor and there was only 1 wine glass. But would stay there again.
The guest house is definitely recommended. Everything needed is available.
It was very cold and the fireplace helped to warm the room nicely.
Saw many beautiful places around the village and met nice people.
We only stayed there for one night, but the place got everything that you need. Will definitely stay there again.
My wife and I were at Muddlers Minnow this weekend. The cottage was top notch and quiet and peaceful. The management of the guest house even came to pick us up at the village gas station - that's service. Will book there again anytime.
Very relaxing atmosphere. Lovely cottage with a lovely fireplace inside. Lovely garden and cats.
The owner can provide a clear map showing how to get to the guest house. It's quite complicated, even the TomTom doesn't know where it is.
The owner's service was very good and friendly. Place was small but value for money. No dressing table, no housekeeper and small living room couch. The fireplace was our favorite and full DStv was available.
There was always lovely hot water for showering. The cottage is sufficient for a maximum of 2 persons.
We couldn't find a toaster.
Had a pleasant, peaceful visit. Needs maintenance. Ceiling above bed pulls apart and begins to sag. Bed very comfortable. Nice shower, water nice and warm, sometimes low pressure, no climb out. Enough kitchen equipment, could do with oven pan and toaster. Sofa very small and uncomfortable. Would recommend that garden be partitioned off so guests' dogs can't get close to kennels, small dogs can also crawl through fence to neighbor's yard. Rained a lot, about 1km of dirt road which is pretty bad. Other car also under cover, access to unit a bit obstructed for loading and unloading luggage. Directions given are wrong.
Place was quiet and away from town and noise, but that is as far as it goes when compared with reviews and pictures. Stopped at the gate a lady gave us a key and turned around and left, we were not asked who we were etc. We were not even spoken to. Not a nice welcome, then about 3 hours later we received a phone call asking when we were checking in. Huh? There was about 10ml of sherry in a 1L decanter with only 1 glass. So there was no cherry? The fire lighter was only half a piece which must have been left in the fireplace weeks before, it was dry and we had to go ask for more late at night when we got back from supper, 4 pieces of firewood, had to go buy at petrol station? There is old coffee mixed in with the sugar, hope it was not ants, and the bed is falling apart. Fully agree with no place to leave the key on departure, we had to go wake somebody up to check out! Not a bad place, just don't believe the pics! At some point this venue was looked after, it is not so much anymore. We did sleep well though, so all in all not a bad place. Just don't believe the "older reviews" and old pictures.
It was not unpleasant at all to stay here but would not book to stay there again. The place was slightly disappointing and meeting the owner was slightly awkward. I personally wouldn't stay there again, I was expecting a bit more hospitality, but it's not a bad place. The layout is very cute, but if you want to go to stay in one place and not really move around, this will not be the place for you.
Owner could not be reached by us, waited for 90 min before the owner could be reached and we could check in. We had to ask for cold drink glasses, supplied by a young boy who was around during our stay. Unit inside was clean. Long grass and weeds covered treacherous holes in the lawn. Stuff (old sink, bore hole pumps, piping, etc.) standing/lying around the cottage and garden area poses a risk to animals and kids and needs to be put away. Bedroom ceiling separated and sagging. Directions to the property not sufficient, gravel road in bad shape.
We had a nice stay. The place is well furnished and also not far from the town. The dirt road was a bit muddy after the rain, but could still be driven with a normal vehicle.
Muddlers Minnow is a fantastic place if you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lovely fireplace for the cold evenings and everything you need. Very close to Naledi Street where all the restaurants and shops are. Very friendly service and always ready to help. Will go back again anytime.
Best cottage I've ever visited.
Had a wonderful, peaceful and amazing weekend. Ideal for a quick getaway with my husband from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg and far from the maddening crowd. Definitely a place to stay when you want some privacy and time out.
Really neat and tidy. Our doggies had a fantastic time. They catered to all our need and more. The added milk tart was a delicious surprise, not to mention the sherry and the lovely fireplace to keep away the chills. Will go there anytime again.
Super duper Dullstroom.
The owners were hospitable. The place was clean and fully equipped.
There's a jungle gym for kids which is convenient. The owners are friendly and helpful.
Beautiful, clean, tidy and private. Everything available that we needed and the extra effort with the treats pleasantly surprised me. I will definitely stay there again.
The cottage is very well furnished, clean and stylish.
From the moment we got lost in the rain and asked for directions, we received nothing but the best and friendliest service. The accommodation is so beautiful, tucked away and well equipped that we just wanted to stay for a week. The service was absolutely superb and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you very much for an unforgettable evening, we will definitely be staying here again as soon as possible.
Enjoyed our stay in a friendly and comfortable place.
We did not want for anything. Clean, cosy with a great shower and friendly staff. Will be back.
Very nice and peaceful atmosphere. The only problem was getting the place due to Google maps not updated.
Everything we needed was there.
We had a lovely 2 night stay at this cottage. Very private, clean, comfortable and quiet. Gorgeous fireplace for the cold nights. The roads in Dullstroom need a makeover, and Muddlers is a victim of the poor road service, but I would definitely recommend this delightful cottage.
Slept well, put in extra effort by turning on heater and electric blanket without request. Friendly and helpful.
Upon our arrival, the housekeeper welcomed us to the best of her ability, the owner's husband did not see us until the next morning. Luckily we had our own towels as the ones available were rock hard. The crockery and cutlery need attention - it looks like all the old stuff that comes out of the house, there was even a plastic teaspoon in the drawer. There was no sugar, we happily use sweeteners. Our booking was for 2 adults and one 7 year old child. The sofa available, where I assume my child had to sleep, is not at all adequate for a child to sleep on. For a 3 year old maybe. Luckily we had extra mattresses and with the extra blanket on the bed my child could at least sleep comfortably. The owner's children were at home, so at least my child had friends. The dog is very comfortable with strangers and invites himself into the house, not something that everyone can appreciate. A box to store the key when you leave is also recommended.
Just keep in mind there are chickens on the premises that start crowing midnight and gravel road across the railway line.
The hostess was completely unavailable, I couldn't talk to her at all. I had to send her messages and she didn't reply until the next day, the bedding on our bed was broken and full of holes. The overall quality of the bedding and pillows was very poor. The town was without water for the week, we sent her a message on Friday evening to find out if there was water at the cottage or if we had to buy water in the town. She only replied on Saturday morning which caused us to needlessly buy a lot of 5L water to wash with, because they are on borehole. The TV in the room's picture is so bad that we couldn't use it, there was firewood for the fireplace, but no flash to light it with, we then drove into town to buy our own flash. I would not recommend them at all.
It's a nice holiday town, beautiful shops with nice things they sell. Nice food.
The cottage is very neat and private. Everything you need is there. I especially liked the extra mile the hostess went. It made our stay very special.
I needed a quite getaway and this is what I got. The place was fantastic and with all the necessities and more. Nadine is an amazing host and went the extra mile for me. Thanks Nadine. I look forward to staying there again.
We were welcomed very kindly and enjoyed the overnight stay very much. It was more than we expected. Thank you very much.
We enjoyed it very much. It was clean, peaceful and they thought of everything. Thank you very much.
We had a nice stay. The cottage was clean and neat and with all the necessaries. It has a farm atmosphere and we felt safe and Kerry and her assistance, Nadine, were very friendly and helpful and respected our privacy.
Very well appointed, they thought of everything. Very neat and safe parking. The bit of dirt road needs attention, but it looked like they were starting to fill the holes when we left.
Great value for money. The cottage is beautiful with a fantastic shower. All the extras provided were really appreciated.
Nadine received us very kindly and made sure that everything was comfortable. Was cold, foggy and rainy. Electric blankets were already on. The cottage was neat. Wonderful to wake up the next morning with roosters crowing and chickens scraping in the yard with cats sleeping on the porch in the sun. Thank you guys. It can be recommended for anyone who wants to escape from the city.
We had a nice stay. The place is clean and very well equipped. Owners are very friendly and helpful.
Everything was perfect, service was excellent. Kerry, the owner, is so friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to other people.
Very nice place! Too bad that there is not much of a view but the place itself is very beautiful. Enjoyed the firewood and fireplace! Quite close to main street in Dullstroom but road over the train track is not great.
Beautiful place - we had a wonderful stay. Comfortably furnished with a lot of attention to small details. We felt completely spoiled!
Except for the bad road from the town to the guest house, it was a good experience.
At first I got lost because I was driving according to my GPS. Don't believe the GPS. Follow the directions given by the owner. She should have come to get me, can you believe I got lost in Dullstroom! I slept well.
Like Dullstroom but will not stay at Muddlers Minnow Dullstroom again.
We had a lot of fun and peacefulness. Thank you Kerry, your place is very neat and cozy. We enjoyed it a lot and will definitely come visit again and recommend it to our friends. All of the most beautiful and best to you.
We were pleasantly surprised, the place is in a quiet neighborhood near a train track, the passing train brought back old memories. The crowing of the Bantam chickens created a real farm feeling and on the cool rainy evening the fireplace contributed to a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere. We were once again not disappointed with Lekkeslaap's selections, keep up the good work.
Neat, clean and very nice to be there. Was at Dullstroom for the long weekend to attend a wedding. Was very cozy and had a great time staying in the place. Will definitely stay with you again. Thank you very much Kerry.
We stayed one night and all our needs were met. Enjoyed the fireplace with a glass of red. Will definitely book again.

Kerry was friendly and helpful and accommodated all our needs! The cottage is nicely decorated and clean with a lovely little stoep overlooking the garden!
The place is very nice and well furnished. Very clean and tidy. Everything you need is at your disposal. Will definitely go there again only.
We enjoyed our stay. Warm bed, sweet wine, fireplace... what more are you looking for?
Muddlers Minnow is nice and close to Dullstroom's main street as well as everything that happens in and around the Dullstroom environment. It's a comfortable and private unit with a fireplace for the cold winters and fresh fruit and sweeties that were put out for us daily. We were treated like kings and queens and we found the unit neat and clean. The unit was also cleaned daily. You experience the tranquility of a small town and you get a farm-feeling ─ just what you need for a weekend escape from the busy city life.
The cottage was clean and had all the comforts that made it a pleasant stay.
This place is very clean and neat. Very well equipped, lots of extras. Friendly, helpful owner, we were able to check-in at 12. Very comfy bed and rain shower. The fireplace with wood provided is a great bonus. Beautiful garden and it is safe, covered parking and electric gate. Definitely recommended, especially if you need to get some rest. We really enjoyed.
The cottage is well equipped, tidy and offers value for money. The yard is nice and big and offers tranquility, we slept well and can't complain about anything else apart from the location which was a bit of a bother. Thank you for the delicious breakfast biscuits.
On arrival we were a bit put off by the road to Muddlers. But it's not the owners fault. Only in the house, bags unpacked, we were glad we were there. A big plus for me was the cockerels and the roosters crowing every morning - heavenly. I didn't want to go home. Owners so friendly.
Place is very neatly furnished and value for money. There was no DStv broadcast, we brought this to their attention and let us know that they would be with us in 5 minutes, but unfortunately that was the last we heard from them and no one bothered to inform us what does not happen. There is a small braai, but unfortunately no braai tools, it is very difficult to be able to braai without them. I also suggest that they keep the braai regularly clean, there was dog and cat hair on the grill, which I had to clean before I could use it.
I would not recommend the place, because of the way we were handled by the owner himself. She was unfit (but I won't elaborate.) I will never use Muddlers Minnow again. Also do not recommend or refer to friends or family. It is also very difficult to find the place, as there are no signposts. And no one knows about the place or even where the street was. I will go to Dullstroom again. Beautiful village.
The photos on the website are unfortunately misleading. The bed was covered in a pile of wrinkled bedclothes, the couch had been replaced with an old faux leather sofa, the place was dusty, the floors dirty, and the house and garden also untidy. The furniture on the porch is old and faded. We felt unsafe, unable to lock the Trellis door from the inside or outside, and unable to operate the safety device (which was handed to us after I complained about safety) without the alarm going off unnecessarily. The place looks 'tired' and old - everything needs a refresh. In addition, the free-roaming roosters started crowing at 3:30 a.m. until literally 8:45 a.m. This was by far my most disappointing stay.
Muddlers Minnow is a real cosy cottage. Clean and neat and fully equipped for the ideal weekend getaway. I will definitely recommend it to friends and family. We had a good stay. Thank you.
We really enjoyed the weekend. Thank you to Muddlers Minnow and LekkeSlaap.
Beautiful and neat, we will stay there again.
This is a very nice little place and we can definitely recommend it!
The little gem is outside the town which was ideal to enjoy the silence throughout the day and evening, without the usual noises of the town or city. Arrangements were confirmed well in advance. We were informed on arrival how everything works. We could come and go as we pleased with privacy and a large lawn outside the accommodation area that we could gaze over while enjoying a delicious cup of coffee in the morning on the veranda.
We really enjoyed our stay. The sherry, chocolate, sweets, coffee, tea, sugar and even milk was a lovely surprise, which only proved that our hostess knows how much these little treats mean to her guests. Nice quiet environment, just a pity about the dirt road which is difficult to drive on especially when it rains.
Was very difficult to find the place. Suggest you pass a marked card. Dullstroom has changed street names and it is impossible to find the place. Dullstroom Accommodation helped us with a map. The rest was just nice.
Relaxing and treated with sherry and sweets.
Muddlers Minnow is a lovely cottage, fully equipped with a warm atmosphere. We will definitely stay there again if we are in the area.
Everything we needed was there. Graig and Kerry went out of their way to make our stay comfortable especially when a sudden cold came on. Thank you for your kindness and a pleasant 4 day stay.
Friendly, warm reception. Owner went out of her way to accommodate. Our acommodation lacked nothing. We really enjoyed the stay. We loved sitting on the patio or in front of the fireplace at night with the peaceful atmosphere.
Very nice place. The fireplace creates a lovely and warm atmosphere. The wine, fruit and chocolate upon arrival was a lovely surprise. Everything was neat and clean.
Thank you very much, pleasant and clean and beautiful. It's a peaceful place with very neat facilities.
Wonderful place, wonderfully peaceful. Well appointed.
There was confusion about my booking. The person who received us thought it was Saturday and Sunday and het stayed in the cottage. According to the advertisement it is serviced daily, that didn't happen. The coffee in the hamper on the microwave wasn't there in reality.
They try to have everything you could possibly need there and more. Then it leaves you with little work surface for food preparation and storage space for your products. They treated us to champagne, milk, chocolate and even turned on the lights for us when we came back late one night.
The accommodation was pleasant but a bit small - it wasn't quite clear from the pictures that it was completely open plan. There was no shower, only a bath, which was not very convenient. One did rather have the feeling of being in someone's back garden though the owners took great care not to be intrusive.
We loved the cottage! It was a wonderful stay over the weekend and the peace and quiet was enjoyed thoroughly. Will recommend to all and will certainly return whenever visiting Dullstroom again. Many thanks!
See the stars.
Very nice stay and visit.
House very neat. Clean and feel right at home upon arrival.
Muddlers Minnow is very well equipped with everything we needed to make our own breakfast and everything was in working order. It's very clean and tidy. I can definitely recommend it to any couple who wants to get away for a bit.
We enjoyed the stay and it completely met our needs for the weekend. Location is a bit far from facilities such as restaurants but completely adequate as a self-catering unit.
Although the address is clearly stated on the website, the GPS does not bring you anywhere near the cottage. The road seems to be broken up into pieces so it's a lot of twists and turns to get there, something the owners surely should know and make provision for. There are no sign boards and after driving around for an hour we had to phone the owners who met us in town and escorted us the the gate. They then drove off with hardly a goodbye and we had to figure out everything for ourselves! The cottage was cramped and dirty, with old black spider webs in the corners. The couch had so much dog hair on it we didn't dare sit on it. The loose carpets spread out everywhere need a wash and the towels stank. Although the geyser was on for hours there was not enough hot water to bath in as it was luke warm. Certainly won't be returning!
