As we entered reception, everything was explained to us in detail which was really nice. What I particularly liked was, that I had my cup of coffee at the bar area watching Springboks beat New Zealand without any rowdiness just pure excitement. Matured and controlled.

Only problem is hot water when logs are fully booked with tour groups and everyone wants to bath/shower and leave at the same time in the morning. We were flowers and Calvinia Fleis festival goers and looked flowers all day and visited the area. First night there is a group that laughs and chats very loudly until 11.15pm in the dining room close to the room where we stayed. Other guests also complain about the noise, I learn from reception. Night 2 the Springboks play against the All Blacks and the TV in the ladies bar is turned on at full volume until 10.45pm and we try to get a good night's rest in between all that. My opinion is that the rooms near the public areas should be protected with sliding doors in the evening to dampen the sound. The management was on duty the times as confirmed to me by the receptionist after I complained about the noise. Management allows the noise and does not consider the paying guests. I would stay there again, but for sure not near the public areas, bars and dining hall.
We arrived one day earlier than our reservation at 10.30pm. The person on duty had no problem giving us a room and needed to move rooms so we could get the same room as the next one. Made a lot of effort to help us.

Security for access to the premises could definitely be improved. In front of the entrance is a gate with a password, but at the back of the parking area are gates that are open. Staff in the restaurant "overserved" us in the sense that several staff members came to ask if everything was ok several times, to the point where it became annoying.

Our experience has been that you are treated like royalty if you are part of their flower tour, otherwise you are only treated as a number. We were treated curtly and stiffly by most of the staff. The room and bathroom are old and unfinished. It was neat, but the tub was full of hair. Even after they came to clean it a second time it was still full of hair. The security is good at the front of the building, but at the back the gate is open and anyone can enter, so your car is not safe 24/7. The accommodation does not justify the costs per night at all. We were lucky to find accommodation elsewhere for the night, so we checked out again within a few hours. A member of staff then wanted to know how she could rectify the situation, but after what we had already experienced, we declined.

An unexpected diamond on the road to Springbok.
Affordable and comfortable overnight accommodation.
We stayed over for one night. The staff on arrival were friendly and efficient. We were nervous about leaving the car outside in the street, but were relieved that there was parking around the back. This however should be monitored by a security guard as later we found people that had walked in from the streets that shouldn't be there. The rooms are like dormitories. The whole building is old and would do well to have a revamp. On entering the room, one could immediately notice a sewerage smell. Later discovered that the toilet, shower and basin shared an outlet pipe. Also the basin was leaking slightly on the floor. We tolerated this as we were only staying for one night. Also there is no solid wall between the bathroom and the bedroom. This was evident that the bathroom was an afterthought. The room and bedding was clean. The crockery supplied was ancient, and can do with upgrading. The restaurant and service was very good. We had wonderful meals there.
We have always slept and eaten very well there and they definitely give value for money. They just need to pay attention to the detail maintenance, faucets that are loose, the sink faucets that are connected incorrectly, one bedside lamp that doesn't have a power plug at all etc.

My girlfriend and I shared a self-catering room in the rear accommodation units at Namaqua Lodge. The bedroom and kitchen are standard and meet basic expectations. The fact that there is a key for every cabinet in the kitchen is strangely annoying, especially if you just want to take out a plate or a glass. The kitchen is unnecessarily spacious (without comfortable seating for a meal), but in the bathroom the shower door hits the sink when you open it wide enough to worm your way into the shower and neither of us are bulky not. The space between the single beds and the dressing table is extremely neat and we were thankful that we only slept there for two nights. The feeling is that the lodge wants to accommodate as many guests as possible without really caring too much about their comfort. The rooms were clean but a mat on the tiled floor would have helped for the chilly evenings.
We were really looking forward to our second visit to Vanrhynsdorp and especially following the good advertisement of Namaqua Lodge. The reception was very professional and the quality of the dinner (barbecue buffet) was also outstanding. However, the room was disappointing and the fact that we could not have hot water at any point, very upsetting.
If you book a family room and already have teenagers or older children, Room 22 is not the most suitable room. The space is very limited and the bathroom extremely small.

The accommodation was comfortable and clean, however the hostess concentrates on tour groups rather than the private customer. Meal times are dictatorial and inflexible - dinner from 19h15 until 20h15; breakfast from 07h00 to 08h00 - and "please be punctual". A bit much to ask for people wanting to relax on holiday!
Bed was soft with a cavity in the middle and my wife and I could hardly sleep. Terribly noisy when people open and close doors. Staff also shout at each other over and over again. Worst was the cold shower the next morning. Buffet dinner was delicious but a bit expensive. We then just missed breakfast because it was over our budget after dinner.
The fact that the rooms and bathrooms are not on the same level creates a problem. The bathrooms are also not built up to the roof.

When I arrived at the hotel I thought to myself where have I booked. This impression was probably because it had been a long day and I was tired from travelling. Don't be put off from the outside as this is a little gem and great place to stay. The price they charge is so reasonable that I don't know how they can be so budget friendly. The staff were friendly and accommodating and made sure that I had a pleasant stay. The hotel is old and the rooms quite small but everything was clean and functional. If you are expecting 5-star you will be disappointed, but if you want friendly home away from home feel this is the place to stay. I had a lovely meal in the open courtyard and a nice breakfast selection in the dining room. Nice to have safe parking as well. I would definitely stay here if I was back in the area.

The service from receptionist to restaurant staff was friendly and efficient. We felt welcome there in a homely sort of way. Room was upmarket and sheets were remarkably clean and well ironed. The braai/buffet dinner was excellent. Parking facilities were good. Two adverse things to work on: 1. We (70 plus year olds ) had to carry our luggage from the car to the room which was quite a long way and quite tiring 2. The cost of the breakfast was a little over the top for what we got.
It can get quite busy during the flower season, but staff remain pleasant and available.
Water crisis in the area. Maybe more provision when 3 people are in family room other than only 1 x 5L water for everything! And no concern expressed by management.
Would prefer to be further away from rooms where a tour group spends the night - it can be quite noisy if the group leaves again very early.

Booked the honeymoon suite because of what I saw in the photos on the listing. Unfortunately didn't receive it that way when we checked in. I was super excited to share the special room with my husband. As soon as I walked in, I could see that my husband was not impressed with the very plain, not at all romantic, room. They apologized and brought us a free bottle of Rose, but the vibe was awkward and still not at all what we hoped it would be.

Me and my wife and my mother slept over one night. We booked two rooms next to each other. It was excellent value for money. Drinks in the lounge and dinner in the restaurant were delicious and really good value for money. The staff's service is excellent and they are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast the next morning was slightly disappointing compared to the good value for money of the dinner. The hotel is nice inside, but a lick of paint here and there would do wonders. One of the big plus points for me is that guests' vehicles can sleep safely under lock and key. For the special price we paid, I would stay there again.

Two friends in our group travel with their mobile home. They were allowed to spend the night free of charge in Namaqua Lodge's parking area safely behind gates and were therefore able to visit with us and eat in the restaurant. A mobile braai drum was provided for us and our group of nine was able to spend time together around a fire on the back porch.

We arrived late and the friendly staff calmly let us unpack and set ourselves up and then we were given time to calmly decide what we were going to order for dinner. We drove with the Lodge's van the first day. Our guide was a lady who works there, I think her name is Marna. She is not only an excellent driver but also a very good guide. She took us to the rare flowers and plants that are not noticed by the common traveller. Delicious food and drinks were packed for us, which we could just enjoy in the field. We also enjoyed the other guests' company.

Only advice I would give is that the people who check you in should just tell you more about the lodge and what there is to do. I have e.g. didn't know the lodge had a bar and pool table. And also at the unit just quickly show you how and what is true. More specifically how the gas stove works. Will definitely stay there again.
The management went out of their way to accommodate our mother next to us. We could park at the units, which made it easy for her.

Employees were friendly although I had to wait 10 minutes at reception for a response. Dinner was excellent. The gas geysers are quite a problem.
Although the accommodation is clean, the rooms are run down and in dire need of attention, The creaky floors are atrocious!
The building needs urgent maintenance. The floor creaks, the decor is old and the air conditioning didn't work.
Room disappointing for a "honeymoon suite". Fortunately, we have been married for a long time. Place is old and presents an image of being on the verge of neglect and deterioration. Only one male member of staff really knows what it is to make guests feel at home. Most ladies are unprofessional.
Vanrhynsdorp was our last stop on the way back to the Cape from the Northern Cape and what a nice place to stay. The service was excellent, the rooms clean and tidy and the parking for trailer and car very safe!
Its a beautiful little town and the accommodation was just what we needed to get refreshed for the rest of our journey. We wished we didn't have to rush off the next morning but we still had a long drive to go, would of loved to experience the rest of the little town.
The neon signs in Vanrhynsdorp startled us - but the room was wonderfully quiet (despite the Lodge being in town and 100% full!) The comfort of a spacious, clean and quiet room, the secure parking and an on-site restaurant - with enthusiastic waiters - makes us choose it again. The so-called free wi-fi did have its limitations - but this time wi-fi was not my great need.

This place had everything I needed for my stay. I had a delicious dinner, while they went out of their way so that my Yorkie could be with me. And then that music the next morning before breakfast! I was on my way out when this wonderful, light classic music lured me back. Thank you very much! It made my day! Everything was beautiful, nice, neat and clean. The reception staff was extremely hospitable and helpful. I would definitely recommend you!

I went to have accommodation for 2 nights and not for the sightseeing. The rooms really need some upgrading and I'm not talking about overdoing it. But one can probably replace a bedside lamp that falls apart with age and fix a light switch that wants to shock you when you touch it. Very courteous and friendly and I can't complain about service, only the rooms lack work.
The staff were very friendly and we will definitely stay there again ASAP. Only problem is the Jacuzzi that wasn't working and when we reported it, nobody came to look for the problem. Not cool.

The place is very neat and clean, the staff is friendly and helpful. The food was very nice although we could not enjoy breakfast, because they start a little late in the morning and we then had to drive further to the Cape. I would stay there again!
The stay was not what I expected. The bedding comes from the 1960s. Not very clean. There is no WiFi as advertised. The DStv consists of 2 channels that nobody watches. The place is not very clean, and I expected more. Behind the lodge is some kind of brickyard that makes a lot of dust and makes a lot of noise if you sleep in the self-catering units. I will not sleep there again. After 7 hours on the road, you want to rest and look for a place where you can rest. The place is not that place. But I suppose for the price you pay, that's probably what you can expect.
