Very friendly and slept peacefully, delicious big breakfast.
The room is perfect with two single beds, as we needed. Everything needed for an overnight stay is there, and we were able to use the kitchen for fridge facilities. In the room there are coffee facilities, as well as an electric blanket for the cold. Enough wall plugs, enough light from bedside lamps. The breakfast was much more than we could eat, and delicious!
We had a very nice stay. The host was very friendly and there was a homely atmosphere. The breakfast was also delicious.
We were met by friendly, accommodating staff and we had a lovely, quiet, warm and comfortable room with everything we needed. Nana Rous is pet friendly and our dogs were safe in an enclosed courtyard with enough space for them to roam around. A delicious breakfast was served on time.
Very cute place, the host was very helpful, restaurant within walking distance, car safe.
We spent a night at Nanna Rous' Town House as part of a little road trip around SA, and this quaint little B&B will linger fondly in our memories.
Thank you to all. It was our 4th visit and we will always come back.
Nanna Rous' is a lovely place to stay. The room is comfortable and cosy – all we needed for an overnight stay.
Pleasant neat and friendly service.
Great stay and a peaceful atmosphere!
Clean and comfortable. Friendly host.
Staff super friendly and they made our stay so easy and comfortable!
We had a very nice stay. Nice central location near a delicious restaurant. Wonderful breakfast at Nanna's. Good stopover on the way to the Cape.
We had a great stay, thank you. The staff were friendly and their breakfast was very tasty. They made an effort.
Very tidy, friendly staff and safe parking. Restaurant is walking distance from the guest house. Ideal for overnight stays between the Cape and Gauteng.
We were very grateful that the accommodation helped us at short notice. We were very warmly received in the midst of freezing cold. Everything we needed was there and we also had a delicious breakfast the next morning. Would love to stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay. The hostess is friendly and helpful.
It was homely and the oomie was very friendly, some made you feel at home! Thank you!
Very hospitable welcome and lovely chat with the owner. Tasty breakfast and friendly service. Rosie is a star!
Very friendly host, got all the information needed. We could change rooms with no problem as I booked by mistake a room with only a bath tub and we preferred a shower. A nice breakfast is served.
Good for an overnight stay. We stayed in the main house, so we were disturbed by arrivals later in the evening. It's an old house, so the floorboards creak. The beds were comfortable.
Nanna Rous in Colesberg offers a charming stay with its most beautiful room featuring lovely geelhout floors. The house, while old, exudes beauty and character. The breakfast was pleasant, making for a delightful start to the day. We highly recommend Nanna Rous for a sleepover; it provides a memorable and comfortable experience.
Enjoyed our overnight stay. Lovely breakfast and friendly staff. Thanks.
We had a great stay, breakfast was a bonus. The rooms need upgrading such as new linens, paint etc.
We enjoyed the accommodation which was adequately appointed with a large room, comfortable bed, ensuite shower, and all that we needed.
Welcoming and friendly.
Nice stay. Attention should be paid to doors that keep opening or swinging shut, not staying open or closing. Ceilings have been fixed but the quality of the work is poor - the roof hangs, looks weak, unfinished etc.
Brief. Needed a stopover for my journey back to Johannesburg.
Was disappointed in the stay.
Friendly welcome, everything was clean, tidy & comfortable. Would definitely recommend the guest house.
We had a wonderful stay. We have stayed at Nanna Rous' Town House quite a few times and have always had a wonderful stay. It feels very homey. The people are extremely friendly, the rooms are wonderfully clean and spacious and you don't need anything more. Secure parking and within walking distance of good restaurants. The breakfast is delicious and I would recommend it to everyone. We will definitely stay there again.
Had a great stay - was an excellent overnight stop for a long drive to the Cape.
It was my father's first visit again after my mother passed away, he was very satisfied and cannot stop talking about the nice and big breakfast. Thank you Rosy.
Accommodation has an incredible history — beautifully decorated and the breakfast is first class! However, the load shedding caught us, it would have been nice to at least be able to enjoy WiFi and TV during this slot to round off the experience well.
Second stay at Nanna Rous. Just as comfortable and convenient. Wonderful place.
Such a lovely little place in Colesberg and the bonus was having a lovely restaurant two doors down.
Fantastic place. We were kindly received. Breakfast delicious. Will recommend Nanna Rous for an overnight stop.
We spent a peaceful time here. Friendly and nice staff. Breakfast was delicious.
Clean and tidy. Hospitable.
The owner is very friendly and helpful, and we had a delicious breakfast before we left.
Als was nice, clean and tidy. Welcoming. Breakfast was delicious. The filter coffee was especially excellent. Owner was very friendly and shared a lot of history of Colesberg with us.
We had a great night at Nanna Rous' Town House, peaceful surroundings, friendly people and our pets were also welcome.
One of the better places to stay overnight in Colesberg with a very nice breakfast to start the ride again.
We didn't arrive until 18h00, they were there within a minute to welcome us. Very friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful with the wooden floors and window frames. The breakfast was delicious, thank you very much.
Basic room with basic facilities. Good location and easy to find. Good enough for an overnight stop. Secure parking and breakfast was added bonus.
Good overnight stay. Nice breakfast.
Nanna Rous is located in a nice quiet area, yet close to the main routes. Secure parking and clean and tidy facilities. It also offers a very nice breakfast. Last but not least, friendly and helpful staff.
Nanna Rous is a must stop. People who like history will like to make a stop in the small town of Colseberg. Walking distance to the best restaurant. Very safe.
No problems encountered.
Could perhaps provide a little more parking. And maybe just look at the shower floor and maybe nature.
This townhouse was built around 1850, but facilities have been modernised. Our accommodation was in one of the outside rooms, so we did not see much of the interior of the main house, but the dining room (a delicious breakfast was provided) is spacious and welcoming, with a beautiful old yellowwood floor and ceiling, truly a place filled with character and old-world charm, and very friendly staff!
Friendly staff and a very nice breakfast.
Breakfast is included in the price which only adds value to Nanna Rous' as a stop-over option.
Nanna Rous was a great stopover for our family on the way to Cape Town. The owner was very accommodating and the room was exactly what we needed to rest and get back on the road again refreshed.
Good location, walking distance to a restaurant. Very good breakfast.
Difficulty finding a place because street signs have been stolen. Please follow up with Municipality.
Friendly service, clean and tidy. The bedding is 5 star.
This guest house provides the perfect stopover for weary travellers. The cool and peaceful courtyard and the peace and quiet of being off the main road make this a very restful environment. Our room was clean and neat and there is safe, off-the-road parking.
Nice stay, very neat and centrally located near restaurants. Owner received us personally very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious.
Lovely, big clean room and bathroom. Friendly, efficient service.
See stars.
The 'landlord' was very friendly and helpful. I felt very welcome! There is a nice restaurant just down the street and the breakfast was delicious and served friendly!
Very enjoyable for an overnight stay. Had all the amenities and was very clean.
Host told us some very interesting historical facts about the house and town.
We were able to braai on the front lawn and engage with some of the other guests.
Kenneth, the owner, is personally on duty and supervises closely. He responds quickly to requests and is very welcoming. Rosie served a delicious English breakfast. She is an inspiring woman.
Breakfast was very nice. Fridge with fresh milk and ground coffee with plunger would be nice. Who still drinks powdered coffee?
The price of the unit was similar to what I would pay to quite a luxurious venue in Johannebsurg. The amenities does not compare however.
The host is very friendly. Parking spaces are small. The historic building is run down and in need of renovation.
Very clean and tidy.
It was really nice to spend the night with our Staffies at Nanna Rous. They made us and the dogs feel very welcome. The people are very friendly and helpful.
We were received very kindly. Accommodation very clean and tidy. Breakfast was delicious. Host has many interesting anecdotes and history to share. Nice stay thank you.
Friendly reception by Kenneth. Spacious neat room well equipped. Friendly service and delicious breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
Nanna Rous offers a welcome respite for a weary traveller.
Close to the main road, beautiful room, clean and tidy. Will stay there again on the way to Cape Town.
The house is quaint and the history fascinating. Clean and everything we needed was there.
Enjoyed a lot. Thank you very much.
Friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast.
Rooms were immaculate as always and the breakfast delicious.
Not much to say. The room was okay and so was the breakfast. The owner and staff were very friendly.
Not scary for old people due to uneven surface and bathroom stairs.
Bedrooms are neat and clean. Perfect for an overnight stop to travel between Johannesburg and Cape Town. In the evening we went to eat at Inni Kraal's restaurant which is walking distance from Nanna Rous'. Breakfast the next morning was delicious and the staff are very friendly.
Nice, old-fashioned cottage and rooms, close to main road through Calitzdorp. Breakfast room also nicely decorated, clean and tidy. Breakfast enough and prepared according to our request. Kitchen staff friendly and helpful. Covered parking behind an opaque, lockable gate. Delicious hot water for bathing.
Nice restaurant next door and peaceful, the guest house's people are very friendly and we had a great time chatting.
Very helpful, friendly staff. Clean, well equipped rooms. Very central. Will stop over again.
The rooms were very suitable for our family.
Very friendly staff and Kenneth who made us feel right at home and shared some wonderful tales about the history of the place. Lovely old home with creaky wood floors and solid wood doors. Room was very cold, on arrival, but staff was on hand to provide heaters and get the place warmed up for us. Breakfast was good and on time.
Clean and comfortable room. Good breakfast.
Nice breakfast and friendly staff.
Lovely old building. Very clean and tidy. Everything you need for one night's sleepover. Just need a small fridge in the room.
As guests pay for breakfast too, a light breakfast pack should be prepared should guests want to leave earlier than 07:00 when breakfast is served.
Very rich history in Colesberg. Many attractions and delicious places to eat at very good prices.
Second time staying here, both times lovely, hospitable people and exquisite accommodation that is pet friendly.
Customer service and breakfast are fantastic. Nice stay.
Nanna Rous' Town House's breakfast is very tasty and a good boost for the long road ahead.
Nice place. Delicious breakfast. The lady who made the breakfast was so cute and friendly - made the most delicious scrambled eggs. The room was a bit cold - maybe they could buy a better heater or maybe an electric blanket. But everything else was nice and tidy.
Nanna Rous is a good choice for overnight accommodation in Colesberg.
Would recommend that air conditioning be installed in room.
Neat and comfortable.
We were kindly received. The room is very neat, clean and spacious. The staff are friendly and Rosie's breakfast was delicious!
When we arrived at 18:15 the door was locked, although we said we'll arrive just after 18:00. The reception was really bad so we battled to phone the owner who lives down the road to come and let us in. Room was okay, clean but very basic and hot. Service the next day when staff was on the property again for breakfast was better.
The place was easy to find and we were warmly welcomed. Breakfast was in time and pleasant. The room we stayed in, the Manse, had one very small window. The adjoining room where the children slept had no windows at all. So the room was very dark and musty. Very unpleasant to sleep in. We could not open the door for more air, as it was on the main walkway, so everyone looked in. I tried to open the one window, which was cracked, and a shard of glass landed on my hand, so left it closed. Covid concerns aside, with the lack of fresh air for months, I would not recommend the room in summer. Maybe winter is okay, or if you don't mind sleeping in an airless, non ventilated room.
Clean, tidy and friendly reception. Very convenient stop if you are on your way to Cape Town from Gauteng. Right next to Inni Kraal restaurant, which makes it even more convenient.
Friendly reception. Good location and very safe.
Staff very friendly and it was tidy and the service excellent.
Pleasant, peaceful stay. Friendly personnel. Delicious breakfast value for money.
We found the place easily. It is in a safe area. The room and bathroom were spotless. Our Yorkie was also with us. Hospitable and helpful. Had a very nice breakfast!
We use Nanna Rous' every year, always worth it.
Friendly and welcoming. Enjoyed my overnight stay, the room was clean and comfortable. Hosts were great.
Room was nice and tidy, breakfast was delicious. Just enough for a quick sleepover.
The room was clean and tidy. White, clean bedding. The heaters also make a big difference in the winter. Delicious breakfast and friendly welcome. Will definitely come again.
Friendly reception on arrival. Breakfast was excellent and good value for money. The room might just need some freshening up with a new coat of paint.
Ek het my kuier hier geniet.
We slept well and safely. The room was clean and tidy and very quiet. Just the wash we needed!
Nice to sleep over for a night.
The road to the guest house was difficult to follow according to Google Maps, so we drove around the block. Arrived at the guest house, the place was very clean, tidy. Nice clean bedding and friendly service.
Although I arrived a bit late I thoroughly enjoyed my stay over at Nanna Rous, money well spent, thank you.
I was very tired after the traffic and had a great rest. No noise or disturbing things. Facilities very nice and suit my taste for old buildings. Want to go there again on return trip. Happiness. It's a good resting place.
For an overnight stay or just the tranquil end to a hectic day - thank you.
Nana Rous is very comfortable and reasonable value for money. The following elements deserve attention or should be noted: No bottled drinking water in the room (as far as standard at any place I've ever stayed). The service at breakfast was a bit slow. Had to ask twice for the coffee to be made. Very noisy "neighbors" in the room opposite, late at night and early in the morning. Truck noise from the N2 can be quite disturbing.
Received very kindly by Lauren, she unlocked our room for us and pointed out our secure parking. Fresh bedroom with very clean and tidy linen and towels. Hoped there was a small fridge in the room but there was one in the dining room. Dinner at a local restaurant (not all restaurants are open on Sundays) and delicious breakfast at the guest house. Will definitely use the facility again.
Good people. Good service. Good breakfast. Good place to stay.
It was a very nice surprise to arrive there after our long day. The people were very friendly. We were allowed to check in earlier without any problems.
I have sinus; dusting is important. Lots of ants. DStv was not on during my stay.
Rosie was very friendly and helpful.
Convenient location, safe, clean and comfortable. Would have appreciated having at least a small bar fridge in the room. Good breakfast, friendly and accommodating staff.
Basic, affordable accommodation.
The place needs renovation.
The friendliness of the people on duty was of outstanding quality.
Will stay there again.
Will definitely stay there again!
The old fashioned feel of the house takes you to another era. We had a delicious breakfast and in the evening went to eat at Inni Kraal, which is located right next to Anna Roux. There is also a cot available for small children. Definitely a place I would stay again.
Room and bathroom were very neat. Accommodation was located near restaurant. Delicious breakfast served
Cannot comment on business facilities as we are retired and travel for pleasure.
Comfortable sleeping facilities and good location. Lovely breakfast the next morning.
It's always hard to find a place that allows our 2 dogs - thank you. The bed is comfortable, linen is clean, pillows are good. The sink's hot water tap is not constant. The shower water is also uneven. The service is good and people are friendly.
Unfortunately, the carpet in The Chapel Room was not clean, one of the bedside lamps does not work and the bathroom light flickers continuously
I like the old world charm.
See stars.
The beds are comfortable and the room very clean. I will stay there again.
We travelled from PTA to CPT and this was our half way stop. We arrived and was greeted by friendly staff who made us feel welcome. The rooms are good but nothing special. The bedding was a bit dirty and did not smell washed. The WiFi did not work. The breakfast was average because the milk and bread was old. But nice little place for a one night sleep, and the staff was really friendly.
Hospitable and Comfortable. Secure parking.
Highly recommended for holidaymakers looking for a halfway stop between Johannesburg and the Cape.
The reception is friendly and the room tidy. Good breakfast is served.
Wonderful stop over for the night.
Spacious, clean rooms. Very friendly reception and delicious breakfast! We regularly sleep over here and will definitely stay again!
Everything is in it's place and has everything one could wish for. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Nanna Rous is full of character and has all the necessities to make your stay extra comfortable. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and I would recommend this guest house 100%!
Historic guest house with informed owner who knows the history of his surroundings well. The guest house was pretty well equipped. Staff particularly friendly. Very good value for money, we will definitely use Nanna Rous' again. Thank you for a nice visit in Colesberg.
So happy be discovered Nanna Rous' Town House. Very neat and well-equipped. The owner, Kenneth and staff are very friendly and helpful. Kenneth grew up in the area and could tell us a lot about the town and the environment's history. The breakfast that was included, was delicious and well-prepared. The restaurant, Nanna Rous, is recommended. We can definitely recommend the guesthouse for anyone visiting Colesberg.
Very well run an we were looked after well.
As before, friendly Kenneth received us and settled us in. Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, great little courtyard and access to fridge in dining room across courtyard. Very safe vehicle parking behind locked gate. Located in quiet part of town, so minimal traffic noise.
Friendly reception, staff. Will stay here again.
It was once again wonderful to sleep over at Nanna Rous. As always, we were kindly received, rooms were spotless and comfortable. Delicious breakfast. Will definitely stay there again and can recommend with confidence to friends and family.
It was a relief after all the hours of driving.
A truly wonderful experience. Very professional and neat. The venue was everything we expected. Elegant simplicity. The breakfast was enjoyable and served early as requested. Made the perfect stop over on our journey. We might decide to spend another night in the future to explore Colesberg. Highly recommended.
Very nice overnight stay. Friendly people with neat rooms and bathrooms. The breakfast was large and delicious. Colesberg is quite warm and the fan doesn't really help to keep the heat away. DStv also doesn't connect, so you can't watch TV. But otherwise it's a stunning place with history.
Good value for money accommodation. Historic village nice for an overnight stop on the way to the Cape. Lots of nice places to eat in town. The accommodation is clean, safe and owners are hospitable people who like to share the history of the town at the breakfast table. Can recommend Nanna Rous' for overnight stays.
Nanna Rous is very neat and well furnished. Room was adequate and was able to get a good night's rest before the long way home. Would definitely recommend.
The accommodation was comfortable. It is an old house with an old world character. Clean and neat.
Very friendly reception and a delicious breakfast included in the price. The facilities were reasonable. Couldn't get free Wi-Fi and the shower head was just a big hole. A man can handle it, but a woman not. Notwithstanding the above we enjoyed our stay.
Very hospitable and uncomplicated. Well appointed. It was nice to be able to just walk to the restaurant nearby for dinner. The breakfast was delicious.
Warmly welcomed, sufficient information, comfortable room and delicious breakfast. Pet Friendly. Would definitely recommend.
Clean, safe accommodation with a nice breakfast.
We had a nice room with all the necessary amenities and rest, but had to leave the next morning without breakfast, although we paid for it in advance. There were unforeseen problems and the responsible person was late.
I expected much better, based on the reviews. We got probably the worst room. The ceiling is moldy and the room (on the alley) is really not up to standard.
Quick responses to any inquiries and good reception even after hours.
The photos on the website do not reflect the true picture. The place is in dire need of paint and attention. Towels no longer white at all. Front door to our room has large gaps in which the wind comes in uncomfortably and makes the place freezing cold. The walls are damn dirty. Now the place is historical which attracts many people, but it costs nothing to keep a place clean and well maintained. Doesn't help place is historic but dirty. I will definitely not stay there again.
Very friendly, nice breakfast, nice and clean.
Beautiful clean and tidy rooms. Very friendly reception and the most delicious breakfast! Will definitely stay here again and recommend friends and family to stay here.
Very nice little place that looks like it has a bit of history. Kennith was very friendly and helpful and gave great recommendation on where we could have dinner. Nanna Rous' is 2 houses away from surely one of the best restaurants in Colesberg (it will put a lot of restaurants in Cape Town to shame). Our room was neat and had everything we needed with a comfortable double bed and even more comfortable pillows. I would recommend Nanna Rous' tot anyone.
It is a very nice place to spend the night after hours of driving, we immediately felt at home and made ourselves very comfortable.
It was a pleasure staying at Nanna Rous, our late arrival was pleasantly assisted with including secure parking, lovely decorated and quiet rooms, excellent breakfast.
Very nice visit in the ancient place. Will definitely book again.
Well located next to the Inniebos restaurant. We didn't have to find somewhere to eat. Nanna Rous' was clean and the breakfast was delicious.
Nanna Rous' is in a quiet street in town. Was able to relax after a long drive. We were kindly received and directed to a place to eat where we had a delicious meal. Our room was also very neat and had everything we needed. Had a nice breakfast.
It was very nice.
We were kindly received and the rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a delicious place to eat within walking distance of the guest house, which made our dinner comfortable and enjoyable.
The detached house was the ideal place to stay for four adults and three dogs. It is neat and clean. Breakfast was delicious. The owner might consider installing air conditioning in the bedrooms for the particularly hot days like we experienced in early January.
Full of character and extremely comfortable with lots of little extras such as a tin of biscuits on the coffee tray, an electric blanket on the bed and electric heater for each room against the cold Karoon nights. Friendly service. I can recommend it with an open mind!
We got there late and walked again early so experienced little. We really have no complaints. The owner was very friendly and helpful and received us late in the evening. Breakfast was tasty.
Would definitely recommend this characterful, well located guest house. Price spot on, service extremely friendly. Thank you very much!
Thanks to Rosie for letting me know she found my kindle. That's an extra mile that was worth a lot to me! We had a nice stay, could walk to places to eat, park safely, had a nice breakfast. Nanna Rous see me again!
The room was clean, neat and convenient. Breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and effective.
Nanna Rous' is in a quiet street with good security and very close to excellent restaurants. The rooms are neat and clean and offer good value for money. The service is always friendly.
Very cute place. Old world character with friendly host. Very helpful.
The reception was friendly and quick. The breakfast was very nice. We arrived early evening and was cold, but a great warm bed waited on us. Will definitely recommend this.
See stars.
See stars.
Clean rooms and linen, nice breakfast and friendly service! Exactly what one needs after hours on the road. Will stay there again for sure.
Nanna Rous' is just an absolute must to stay in, this is my second overnight stay there, just a treat after a long day's travel. Friendly, hospitable management.
Staff are very helpful and friendly. Very good breakfast and delicious coffee. Rooms very neat and comfortable with everything a traveller could need. Would use Nanna Rous again if ever I'm back in the area, and would recommend to any traveller.
Very pleasant service with delicious breakfast. And our dogs could stay with us.
Very relaxing and peaceful.
This guesthouse is very neat! Perfect place for an overnight stay, excellent breakfast included.
Very friendly host. Warm and cosy and great location.
Exceptional staff, clean and neat rooms! Breakfast was amazing! Highly recommendable!
Ver nice stay, would just like to stay in the little church for one night.
Vriendelijke ontvangst, gezellige en nette kamer en goed ontbijt.
Parking is limited for the total rooms/guests.
Very nice and comfortable!
Ek het my oorslaap gastehuis gevind, die kamers is skoon, die linne is wit en ruik na son, die ontbyt is heerlik, die eienaar is vriendelik en die omgewing is stil. Nanna Rous is voortaan my "huis" in Colesberg!
We had a wonderful stay, it is clean and tidy, the host and hostess are warm and friendly. The house is walking distance from a restaurant. Overall a very nice experience.
Friendly, neat with a little reminder of the old days. Especially the person in charge was very helpful. Goes out of his way to help the people.
Good reception and friendly host and staff.
My summary really says it all. A pointer for first time guests: Once your booking is confirmed phone the guesthouse and tell them what you would actually like for breakfast. "Rosi" makes delicious omelettes.
It was wonderful to sleep over at such a peaceful, friendly place after a long day of traveling. Within walking distance from a delicious restaurant (Horse & Mill) .The room was clean and tidy. Very rustic, it takes you back to grandpa's farmhouse. Breakfast was delicious and a good start to a long day's journey. Thank you.
A taste of the past in comfort. Had a wonderful dinner right next door at Inni Kraal. Will be back.
We had a nice stay here on the way to Cape Town. The eatery next door was also nice and the house was in a cute little street.
We were kindly received and slept well! Clean and tidy.
It is an old house but it has character and it is clean and neat. All the rooms are comfy. Delicious breakfast.
Early morning departures I would imagine to be quite normal for the onward journey between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Property was very dark in the early morning as well as the geyser being turned off, a shower or bath before departure not an option with no hot water, especially at -2 degrees.
I booked the place months in advance but upon arrival they had given my room to someone else. I wasn't happy as we got a cramped room with 2 single beds. The 2 fans in the room didn't help. Colesberg can get very hot, even 45 degrees, so there should rather be aircon. They were cheap type of fans that overturn easily. The room is so small that there's almost no space to put your luggage, etc. and no cupboard. The rooms are really close to each other. There's no space in the bathroom to put your stuff except on the toilet seat. Yet the beds were clean and the breakfast good, but one night was enough. They should make sure from each guest that arrives which room they booked so they can be allocated the correct room. What if a family books a room and the only room left when they arrive is a twin room? It's not acceptable as each room has a different name and each guest chooses a room when he makes a booking. This place is good for spending the night, but not more than that.
Place is old and neglected. Bathroom walls and cupboards moulded. Towels old, beige in stead of white, and very hard. Something bit me in the bed at night, so never again. Would recommend to no one. Not at all value for money, rather sleep in your car. Not even worthy of 1 star, sorry.
2nd time we stay here and it is always very nice to be received kindly. The guest house is very nice and we usually book the "Cattle Post" room which has a double bed, small fridge and en suite shower. The breakfast is delicious with freshly toasted bread, bacon, sausage and eggs, just what you need for the long road. Can definitely recommend Nana Rous'! For dinner we walk down the street to Bordeaux for a nice Karoo lamb shank or chop.
We stayed for one night. Value for money, very neat and we felt very welcome. Highly recommended.
Nana Rous' guesthouse is the perfect stopover on the long road between Gauteng and Cape Town. It is simple but neat and clean accommodation with a rustic touch which makes it unique. Air conditioning might be handy for the December heat. The fans worked hard but the noise is disturbing during the night. The breakfast and service was very good! We were glad to see a pet friendly place — didn't travel with my dogs this time, but I'll remember it for the future.
I can recommend Nanna-Rous. I felt treated by the comfortable, clean, and peaceful environment.
The beautiful old house stole our hearts! We were so warmly received. Had a good night's sleep and enjoyed breakfast. Thank you!
It met 100% of our needs and our requests. Thank you for the professional service and regular contact. Lucas had a lovely night and stayover. Will definitely make use of your services again in the near future.
See the awarded stars.
As senior citizens we found perfect accommodation after a long and tiresome journey. It was friendly, clean and the breakfast was delicious. Can recommend it to anyone. Close to main road, relaxed and quiet.
We are traveling to the Cape with two dogs and were never able to sleep over before, but after this experience we found a permanent place to sleep. I really can't think of anything that didn't meet or exceed our expectations!
The staff is very friendly and hospitable. The rooms are well furnished and very neat and clean.
Great hospitality, privacy and very comfortable.
Staff are hospitable and professional. Very comfortable stay with excellent breakfast. We highly recommend it to anyone.
It was definitely a good choice! Friendly helpful host and housekeeper. Very nice and comfortable rooms. Very nice breakfast! Will definitely stay there again on our next trip to the Cape. Thank you Nanna Rous!
Nanna Rous is a beautiful B&B with a very friendly and warm welcome. We rested wonderfully and after a wholesome and convivial breakfast we were able to start the road to Cape Town. What really impressed me is the fact that it is a sleeping place for animals too. Beautiful provision has been made for the animals and it is very clean. I will be sure to visit again!
If we travel to the Cape, then Nanna Rous' is our accommodation back to Johannesburg. It's an institution. Kenneth and his team are always extremely helpful and friendly! The accommodation is also very neat and clean.
Very neat. The breakfast was delicious. We slept peacefully, thanks again.
Quiet but the rooms are very crowded, so quite a lot of people stay here.
It was warm during the night (42°). The two electric fans saved us as there was no air conditioning in our room. The people were friendly and breakfast was delicious. Basic, clean, safe and peaceful overnight stay. You get what you pay for.
Nanna Rous is a quaint and beautiful little B&B with very friendly staff. The history and culture is rich in this location. Overall a very comfortable and interesting stay with a great breakfast.
Friendly reception. Good breakfast. Guesthouse in a quiet street walking-distance from everything.
We arrived late in Colesberg, but Melissa was there within a few minutes to unlock for us. Nanna Rous is a comfortable B&B for a night's sleep and the breakfast was delicious!
Convenient, easy to find, very friendly and peaceful.
Nice. Not much storage space in room, but otherwise great.
We had a great stay at the guest house, very friendly staff.
See stars.
Nice, will use them again as a stopover. Thank you!
Feel free to see the stars.
Reception of guests not very friendly. We had trouble finding the place.
It's a good overnight stop when you've driven a lot of miles. This is it. You can't stay there much longer.
We can't compare it to other guesthouses because we haven't stayed at Colesberg yet. The overnight stay was average.
We enjoyed the place but it was VERY hot and there is no air conditioning in the rooms - two standing fans. Difficult to sleep as we are not used to such heat. Nanna Rous should seriously consider air conditioning. You definitely pay a few rand more and sleep more comfortably.
WOW WOW WOW - Dit was heerlike verblyf.
Have fun. Quiet and away from noise. Will definitely stay there again!
Beautiful and authentic. Very neat. Helpful staff. Electric blankets on every bed! Ideal accommodation for families with small children. Pets are also welcome. Feel free to visit the Bordeaux restaurant on the main street. Five minutes walk from the house.
The guest house is well located and tidy. Just one comment - guesthouses need to remember that they are used by travelers who want to stay overnight and rest and break up their drive, so it's about a good night's rest. This means that beds and bedding must be of the best quality to make it a good night's rest. Please check your bed sizes and bedding.
Our stay at Nanna Rous' suited our needs like a glove. Will definitely use them again.
As an overnight stop, Nanna Rous' is a great option. Friendly service and a warm environment make this a wonderful little B&B.
What a nice experience, the room is neat and clean, the owner hospitable and so helpful! The courtyard garden makes you feel like you are abroad! We will definitely stay again!
Willie and Annatjie, have a lot of fun there at the guest house Nanna's Rouw. In the afternoon when we stopped there we had a very nice feeling from the good and friendly people. We had a nice relaxing afternoon and a good night's rest. The breakfast was first class for us who continued on our way to P.E. then. And we would recommend it to everyone who rides to relax and rest a bit. One just feels much better. We would give it a 5 star!
Please see the stars!
Quaint, clean and peaceful experience. Slept like a baby, enjoyed great breakfast. Well done, team!
Very comfortable rooms. Only problem is the room in the house does not have a shower. It was very hot and the fans did not work adequately. Air conditioning is definitely a recommendation.
The accommodation is clean and comfortable and the reception was friendly and helpful. After a shift of 840 km we could relax and especially Mr. Boss's personal attention contributed a lot to the quality and tranquility.
Comfortable room, pet friendly, acceptable breakfast, reasonable price. However, the absence of air conditioning and WiFi bothers.
Perfect, clean and secure with great bed and shower. Just what you need for a halfway stopover.
When we arrived the toilet was broken and was being worked on. Was placed in different room than original reservation. No water in hot water tap and could only bathe in half cold water after 11.30pm in the evening. Kettle didn't work either. Very clean and tidy and I'm sure it would be very nice if there weren't so many problems.
Pleasant owners, delicious breakfast, parking inside the yard a bit scarce, could do with air conditioning, especially during the summer months.
See the stars below.
We were kindly received. We immediately felt at home and the next day felt rested for the long journey back to Cape Town. Everyone was very friendly. The place is clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable. I can recommend the old place to rest and then continue your journey. Thanks also to LekkeSlaap, because without you I wouldn't have known where to sleep. I was satisfied with the choice I was able to make thanks to your information.
Nanna Rous is very tidy with a nice breakfast and really good value for money. Room was very comfortable and clean. The guest house is very central and within walking distance of probably the only restaurant in Colesberg that is open until late for dinner. We had a very nice overnight stay.
The rooms were neat and clean, thank you very much. Breakfast was nice. It was a good choice for a night's stopover on the way to the southern cape.
A pleasant and peaceful environment. Excellent for an overnight rest! Maybe just DStv SuperSport? Especially when the springboks are playing!
Friendly people. Very helpful.
We had a nice stay and ate.
Please pay attention to the WiFi! The owner of Nanna Rous is very friendly. I had a problem with my reservation of a particular room and he was willing to show me other options right away. Still, in the present day I would have appreciated it if there could be access to WiFi. I would highly recommend paying attention to this.
Very friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The accommodation is very clean and tidy and the breakfast is top notch.
Friendly service. Rooms tidy and fit the environment. Well located. Street side room gets a lot of noise during the evening.
The accommodation is peaceful, pleasant and safe. It is also tidy and pet friendly. The accommodation is in a quiet part of town, close to restaurants and shops. The reception was friendly and helpful. The facilities were also completely pet friendly.
Was kindly received and everything was clean and tidy.
Conveniently situated and very clean and comfortable. Kenneth was very friendly and helpful.
Both nights were amazing, nice and warm and cuddly would stay there again. But... Blue Whale, that's very nice but the following failed: broken toaster, let them know but they just never got back to me. There were items on the list that were not in the kitchen. No light outside by the stairs, we also informed them, they would come and fix it but didn't. I just feel that if you pay so much, everything should be fine. Suggestion - there is no table in the living room so when you drink coffee you have to put it on the floor. Hope I don't sound like a slob but R7200 is a lot of money and it wasn't really value for money.
We had a very nice stay. However, we would have preferred a shower in the bathroom as we are shower people and not bath people.
Stayed overnight. Staff friendly and helpful.Great breakfast. Room however needed better ventilation.
Immediately helped when we got there, spoke good Afrikaans and immediately made us feel welcome. Had a nice breakfast the next morning. Rooms were pretty clean.
Please see the stars.
Beautiful courtyard and delicious breakfast. The rooms are a bit cramped and don't have air conditioning, but a cool shower and the fans they made available for us helped to cool us down.
The people are very friendly and hospitable but the room was "stuffy" because it was so hot and no windows could open. The little fan they provide is certainly not doing its job in the heat. I would advise that they put in an air conditioner, then people will stay nice and sleep well.
Warm and helpful reception, basic amenities that are ideal for 1 night's stay.
The house and room were beautifully decorated and quite safe, but for me as a woman traveling alone I felt unsafe for some reason. The biggest reason for this is possibly due to the fact that I had to drive early the next morning while it was still dark. To get out of the yard, I had to get out of my car to unlock and push open the gate, get in my car to drive my car out of the yard, and get out again to push the gate shut and the lock to close This was unacceptable to me and very unsafe! My stay was reasonable, but I felt unsafe. A plus point was the heater that was on when I was taken to my room in the evening and the fresh milk that was kindly provided to me.
It didn't look like the picture at all. It didn't look very safe.
Nanna Rous B & B was an ideal stopover between Cape Town and Johannesburg and the hospitality was friendly. The facility was clean, comfortable and spacious. We felt safe and well rested.
We had a nice stay. The people were very hospitable. The owner told us all sorts of interesting things about Colesberg and Nanna Rous.
Walking distance to great restaurants. Really appreciated the breakfast pack stored in the fridge for the early morning journey onwards!
Good facilities and a delicious breakfast. The owner is personally involved. We didn't ask for a non-smoking room, but it's a bit uncomfortable if the bedding and the towels smell of smoke. Otherwise great! We will definitely stay again.
Our group stayed in Colesberg as a half way point on our way to Knysna. Nanna Rous' Town House was perfectly situated for this. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good. The only issue was the water supply for the bath was not that strong/good. However for a one night stay it worked okay.
The floors creak when you walk around at night, but it's still the same wood as when the house was built 150 years ago. The double bed was just right, the bath water was hot and running quickly, the small fridge in the room was switched on and already cold, the breakfast delicious. One can get traditional South African ground coffee (50% chicory), or 100% instant coffee. If you want to get away from everything modern, you don't need to turn on the small TV set in the room. Rather eat at the restaurant recommended by the owners (Bordeaux). When you come back full of mutton and red wine, you will want to go to bed immediately.
Friendly staff and a cosy spacious apartment close to the main highway and shops. Lovely cottage room with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was also a treat.
The stay was pleasant. The village is indeed very small, so the places to eat are limited and there is not much to do after 17:00. I would definitely recommend the place to others as it is clean and comfortable, safe accommodation, which is very reasonably priced.
