64 guests' feedbackWe have stayed many times at Naries and will be returning. The setting is incredible and the night sky is a real treat. The accommodation is very nice; our choice is the self catering cottages. They are nicely furnished and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking implements, cutlery and crockery. Naries is, in our opinion, the nicest place to stay in the Springbok area. It is a bit out of town, but this is possibly what makes it so special.
What a wonderful privilege to be able to experience a heavenly treat here. Spending the night at Naries Namakwa Retreat in one of the mountain huts was one of the places on our "bucket list". However, to sleep only one night there was far too little! We were warmly received and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and moved dinner so that we could drop off and freshen up after the long day's drive from the Richtersveld. Great appreciation for excellent and friendly service with mouth-watering meals by a lovely warm log fire. Lovely accommodation down to the finest detail in incredibly beautiful surroundings. We will have to stay longer next time.
A beautiful place and setting. Super friendly and helpful staff. Would love to visit again during the flower season.
Have been coming here for over 10 years and will never stop coming back, superb place to unwind. Excellent service and food always.
We had a wonderful stay, slept and ate!
Although the location and food were very good, I would not use the family units again. They stand in the sun all day which then makes it incredibly hot at night. With no air conditioning or mosquito nets, it is almost impossible to sleep due to the heat inside the rooms.
The place is absolutely stunning. The location is very scenic, and the units blend beautifully into the landscape. The food is very tasty. The units are spacious and very comfortable. What kind of got me a bit is that there is not clarity on what is included in rates and what isn't - we were offered welcome drinks, but only when we asked; we were told that they are charged extra. If we didn't ask, this would've been a surprise. Self-catering units do not have air conditioning, and it was very hot (despite that it was already late April) and no WiFi. Keeping the above in mind - the place is still a wonderful venue for a few days' stay.
This is such a beautiful place. We wished that we had booked for 4 nights. The walks and scenery are breathtaking and the hospitality and food were really top class.
Very luxurious mountain chalet with the most fantastic views of Bushmanland from Spaktakelberg. Was worth every penny. Truly something special. Five star accommodation.
There was lots to do and see in the area. The staff were wonderful and the location was fantastic. Rooms were very well stocked and comfortable. We would love to visit again sometime. We were disappointed by the final bill that we forgot to settle up (our mistake), but now fully paid. It would be good to notify clients when they will be charged for extras such as the welcome teas when we arrived. Also, some of our meals were not included in the price that we paid up front. We understood that sundowner drinks were extra. A menu presented prior to our order could have solved this dilemma as we brought all our food and drinks.
In my opinion somewhat "Over priced". Especially when I compare it to other accommodation in the price range. Would use again but only if other similar accommodation is not available.
Naries was a pleasant experience. Nice people and put a lot of effort into the food.
A lovely cottage with stunning views. The area had just had some devasting floods, so there was a lot of water around. It was our overnight stop on our way back from the Kgalagadi and this worked well for us. Nice and quiet, only disturbed by the birds in the morning! Lovely evening with amazing views of the stars!
This is a definite "visit again". Tasteful. Restful. Friendly atmosphere and staff. I'm in love with Naries. The round houses in the field are so romantic.
Staff were very friendly and professional. The best food I have eaten in a long time! Accommodation is worth the money!
Incredible view of the Spektakel Pass, most beautiful sunset. Bergsuite was very special and unique, an incredible experience. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was exceptionally good. Excellent service.
Sheet on the bed was torn. WiFi is extremely limited to certain areas and limited per guest. Menu is extremely limited.
Lovely farm with a very nice view of the Spektake mountains.
Naries is well located for exploring the Springbok area; especially in the flower season; our unit was tidy and we were even provided with a free bag of firewood to ward off the cold.
Friendly welcome, home was a pleasant surprise. Food was top notch. Special breakfast was packed for us in a box. It is a very special place.
Beautiful and fantastic food and excellent service.
Staying in the mountain suites was unique. Food was great, staff friendly and professional. Can definitely recommend it.
Very difficult when one has eaten, slept and eaten again before leaving, to say more than that the service was good and the food was good.
Very nice and well-equipped self-catering units.
See stars.
The mountain suite is a great treat. 5 star accommodation in the hills with the most beautiful view, especially sunrise through the windows over a cup of coffee. In my opinion the meals could be adjusted slightly to add a 5th star to the value for money. I understand Covid has also limited things. The farm is beautiful with beautiful hiking trails and the mountain lapa is a treat at sunset. The staff and management are very friendly and hospitable. We are happy to recommend Narries.
Great oasis. The indoor fireplace is a good idea for both winter and for braaing in summer. Enjoyed the different walks and even had the opportunity to do an 8 km run to the view point and back. Lovely and restful. Wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a great time and stay, but our guests and we thought the self-catering cottages could be modernized a bit more. Especially when you compare it to the big house that is being nicely renovated. The food in the restaurant was very ordinary, although very pleasant. We compare it to the meals we got there before. Especially the dinners were expensive for what you got. The new Gemsbok meeting place was wonderful, we met many nice people there.
Facilities of high quality and service friendly and good.
Isolated, quiet place with lovely undulating hills. The chalets were comfortably, cool although it was hot outside and at night the temperature dropped which was very pleasant.
We stayed in one of the two self catering units. Unbelievable. I would recommend it anytime. It's quiet, and not much light in your eyes around. Stargazing was a pleasure. I have no complaints. I only stayed overnight, but would definitely like to stay longer next time.
Nice accommodation. Very nice walking routes and view. Delicious food and friendly staff.
Had a very pleasant stay. Excellent food in the restaurant. It's the little things that made the big difference.
Great reception. Exceptional service.
It was an experience for us in Namaqualand, excellent accommodation, food and service. Thank you very much, we really enjoyed it.
Accommodation of the best quality, everything was clean, neat, spacious and convenient! Service good, especially the receptionist Anthea, friendly and very helpful.
The difference between the self catering, the mansion and the luxury chalets is bigger than I expected. The three house types are not well integrated. Photos create an expectation of the Nama chalets - in reality the self catering is not located there and the view is not the same either. The difference is just too big and it's disappointing. Highlight was the Gemsbok Lapa and the viewpoint.
Five star accommodation Just one little issue, the owner MUST consider changing the WiFi rules. Nowadays free WiFi is standard, and other guests feel the same.
Highly recommended.
Well equipped unit in a stunning environment. First-class hospitality on arrival.
Mountain suites are stunning from the outside, but 3 different sizes and views. Explanation of Naries as "unique" is unacceptable. Prices must be different and what you get clearly spelled out, otherwise there will always be problems if more than 1 couple stays in the suites. Presentation of food exceptional, but food is poor. Gazpacho served in a cognac glass with a small opening, steak tough, crime brûlée homemade, but milk has skimmed, and brandy snaps under pear rock hard on the outside and tough under pear. The fridge was either installed too late or broken and then replaced with a dirty one. The worst of all is that absolutely nothing was done and that no one discussed the matter with us (complaints notwithstanding) until after we left. And then management first tried to find out in writing that we were complaining unnecessarily. Apology offered only the next day during a telephone conversation.
Awesome place. Very unique and very tasty food.
We were warmly welcomed and felt very pampered in a luxurious en suite room, with all the luxury amenities one could wish for! The meals, both three-course dinner and breakfast, were very tasty!
I wish I had stayed a week! Head to Namaqualand to soothe the soul! There is no more beautiful setting with five star service than Naries.
Wonderful place! I can recommend it and we will go back again.
We found the tranquility of the place very pleasant, even wished we could have stayed longer. The facilities were unbeatable and the breakfast excellent. The staff radiates a calmness that we no longer know from the city. It was an experience.
Friendly reception in neat rooms with delicious meals.
Incredible place, most beautiful accommodation, stunning surroundings, delicious food and very good service.
Very nice, luxurious and spacious! Will definitely stop by again! Excellent value for money!
Awesome God given place, thank you very much.
Beautiful stay after a long journey. The scenery was indescribable. Definitely recommend.
Because Naries is out of town - makes it special.
Staff greeted you very kindly at the door and made you feel welcome. The viewpoint is beautiful - especially at sunset. I did miss a TV, tea and coffee in the room.
Fully equipped and comfortable. Breakfast was great every day.
A beautiful guest house and surroundings. The service is also very good, also the food. There was not enough water for bathing, and the room and bathroom were very cold. There was a warm blanket on the bed and a small heater.
Awesome place, awesome stay...loved it.
I would recommend Naries to everyone! From the moment we got there, we felt at home. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The meals were excellent. The decor and rooms are beautiful. Observing the natural beauty around you is truly good for your soul. The field, mountains, blue sky and clean and fresh air are wonderful, breathtaking! Thank you very much.
What a treat! Fantastic! From the exceptional hospitality to the decor down to the finest detail. The food was of high quality. From our arrival to our departure, we were made to feel welcome and at home and pleasantly surprised by the magnificence, not only of the surroundings, but also of the facility. We will definitely visit Naries again.
The Naries area is very beautiful. The guest house does not cater for children under twelve. We only heard when inquiring about breakfast that we would get breakfast in our rooms. The kitchen was not prepared to have breakfast ready by 07h00. We had to wait until 08h30 to get breakfast in our room. We had to leave early, so breakfast was left over. There is no air cooling (a roof fan is not cooling if it is 40ºC outside).
Full marks on customer service... very friendly staff who make you feel as if nothing is too much trouble for them. Excellent food - wow, enjoyed all the meals, the plates looked stunning! Will definitely return here in 2013 to celebrate our 25 Wedding Anniversary.
This venue is great, the rooms are spotless, the setting is majestic, and the service is excellent!
From the minute we arrived and the warm friendly greeting we received, we knew that we had made a good choice for an overnight stay. The wonderful setting and luxurious accommodation immediately put the hustle of city life behind us. The service and food were excellent. This place is certainly good for one's soul and we will definitely stay longer next time.
It was a big surprise to found "a little peace of heaven" in the bushes between the mountains. Would never thought a place like that exist. Will definitely visit again and sleeps in the same bungaloo! Thanks for your hospitality and frienliness, we appreciated it.
We enjoyed our stay there and we had a very harty welcome. Unfortuanately I did not book for dinner and due to the fact that we travelled a long distance that was an anticlimax when we reliased we had to either sleep without food or travel all the way back to Springbok to have something to eat. And then one of the ladies (forgot her name) came back and told us that she has arranged for a platter with bread, cheese and meat aswell as some cold drinks. That is service!!!!! Thank you very much for a good nights sleep.
